It’s time for the details of our Bobo Choses Bag Giveaway. We have eight bags in total, four shoppers for mum and four owl adorned satchels for a little one.

We call it a giveaway, but really we need something in return… Numbers! Bodies, friends, fans,’ likers’, whichever term you prefer. The more the merrier etcetera, etcetera. In swelling our numbers and increasing our reach we will be able to offer more brands, more promotions, more giveaways. Sound like a fair trade so far? In late August there is no denying that the long fingers of dawn are a little cooler than they have been of late and she takes a little longer to lift her dark veil.

Albeit, in the middle of the day we are all still bare armed and lightly dressed, determined to squeeze the very last drops of summer from the rapidly fading season.

Maybe next week, or perhaps the week after, something will change in the air… and that’s when we begin to consider the first of those winter essentials. Be assured, here at Mash n Gravy HQ the deliveries have been coming thick and fast, and like Christmas come early we cannot wait to rip open those boxes and show you what we have in store! We will however, have to keep you in suspense just a little longer as we are busy behind the scenes making essential changes to our web site in order to improve your shopping experience.

From the 1st of September our store will have a whole new look and feel as well as allowing you to create an account if you so desire (see, we do listen!), thereby enabling you to spend less time entering your details time and time again.

We have added Mini Rodini, Talc and Kidscase to our store to set the tone for the New Season, with all of your old favourites to come and a few new additions sure to win your hearts.

Shrunk in Amsterdam

There’s no denying that we adore Scotch Shrunk and little sister R’belle. Exquisite detail is to be found wherever you look, and that’s not to say that the garments are adorned with bling. Oh no, the little things to which we allude are much more subtle – more like little love notes, hidden in a lunch box – a token of affection or appreciation if you will.

Have you ever noticed the little messages secreted in the garments? We believe that they exist to let the lucky owner of this new piece of clothing, know that the very lovely people at Scotch and Soda give special attention to the details – not just these discrete messages, but all of the little things which make a piece of clothing special , just to show you that they put all of their creativity, devotion and effort into all the aspects of designing and manufacturing Scotch & Soda clothing: the lining, the pockets and indeed, the labels.

Have a peek inside the collar of your shirt, or your trouser pocket, and you may find that it carries a dainty message about that special garment for you. Kidscase Autumn/Winter S011

Seemingly innocuous cardboard boxes have been arriving at Mash n Gravy HQ all week – Manilla on the outside they may be, but once open, glorious Autumnal hues, in a variety of rich textures spring forth and almost induce a desire for the dark evenings and log fires (I said ALMOST!)

This season we remain enormous fans of Kidscase, from Amsterdam. This small independent label was founded in 2000 by Jacqueline van Nieuwkerk and Merel Verbrugge. Their first collection in 2001 attracted attention due to the fashion forward style, attention to detail and intense, powerful colours. Pioneering children’s boutiques immediately saw the potential of the brand and fell in love.

Each season sees a classic style reinvented. Modern, dynamic and versatile the label pride themselves on garments inspired by comfortable, wearabe sportswear as well as ‘High Fashion’ and aim to achieve a collection lauding the ‘Basic Plus’ look.

From the inception of the brand, their philosophy has been to produce collections by means which are fair to people and which are environmentally friendly, and although fraught with difficulties along the way the current collection boasts that 70% of it’s garments are made from Organic cotton, of which 52% is manufactured under humane working conditions in facilities which care for both their work force and the environment.

Rich – warmth – comfort – chic – uncomplicated. This is what leapt out at us as we opened up our deceptively unexceptional boxes this week.

Never judge a box by it’s colour!

The accepted behaviour of a pale cloud is to drift softly across the summer sky, without effort or cause, disturbing no-one. Not so, this Pale Cloud, the stunning label, created by husband and wife team Ian and Marion Renolds, which has virtually stormed the trade shows in the early part of this year, with their sophisticated, yet simple first collection.

Well documented at the time, in no small part due to it’s charm and grace, not to mention the silks, shearlings and wools we were smitten and are waiting in anticipation to take delivery of an edited collection as soon as it becomes available. Munster T4T 2011

We know how much you love Munster for their incredibly cool, culturally aware graphics and supreme quality detailing. As if you really need another reason we’d like to draw your attention to their ongoing charitable T4T initiative, which aims to help orphans in Cambodia and Vietnam where the production of their garments take place

Each season, Munster Kids commissions an artist to design a series of original prints for Munster’s T4T Shirts. This season, Munster has secured the talents of New York based artist Matthew Langille, who, in his time has also produced graphics for Swatch and Marc Jacobs.

Each T-shirt sporting Matthew’s design supports the T4T charity efforts when purchased – therefore, for each shirt sold, Munster donates a t-shirt to an orphaned child in the areas they support.

Due to the success of the project, Munster has managed to donate over 1,500 tees and jumpers to kids in need, and next season they will broaden the initiative to include T 4 bikes and T 4 books.

Nulle Doll from Lucky Boy Sunday Returns

At Mash n Gravy HQ we are suckers for a cool range of soft toys, especially of the quirky and slightly odd variety. The talented Danish designers behind Lucky Boy Sunday, Camilla and Camilla are very fond of offbeat characters and their collection includes an unusual family of friends each knitted from 100% soft alpaca. Equally at home in a child’s bedroom or as a design piece in your favourite space.

Alpaca wool is the natural fibre harvested from the Alpaca. It is soft, durable, luxurious and silky and while similar to sheeps wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin which makes it hypoallergenic. In recent years, interest in alpaca fibre clothing and luxury goods has surged, in part, because Alpaca ranching has a reasonably low impact on the environment.

This seasons collection has matured with the brand and sees the return of the iconic Nulle Doll. We’re sure he’ll be just as popular this time around. Available in March, so keep an eye on our gift shop.
