We did a little digging through the archives of this blog and found the blog post below from 1/8/08. This post is a reminder of what is possible if Governor Huckabee runs for President. The Governor was able to pull of a third place win in the NH primaries. Some might say third place isn't a success, but for a campaign with basically zero dollars in the coffers - this was a huge victory! This victory was achieved because of Governor Huckabee's ability to relate well with the voting public and because of a tidal wave of grassroots support from all over the country. A 2016 Huckabee campaign would see even greater success, as the Governor is well-known and would be able to raise the funds needed to compete head on with any GOP contender. Also the grassroots support for Governor Huckabee is still very strong and active. With these two important campaign components in place, if Governor Huckabee decides to run for President, there will be no stopping him.
Third In New Hampshire!

by Mike Huckabee

I just finished speaking to our supporters in new Hampshire before heading off to South Carolina. We are running a strong third place finish as I write, our rivals had a long history in New Hampshire, deeper organizations and millions of dollars of advertising in the state. Just weeks ago we were polling 5th and 6th in the state. Tonight we finished strong and came in third. A special thanks to the people of New Hampshire! Thank you to the volunteers on the ground and our dedicated campaign staff that made this happen.

Our ideas are resonating: our strong support for life and marriage, securing our borders, preventative health care, energy independence and massive tax reform all helped propel us here.

Lets keep it going. Important primaries in Michigan, South Carolina and Florida are ahead of us and we must be prepared.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

David Brody: The "Reaganesque" Mike Huckabee

The "Reaganesque" Mike Huckabee
By David Brody CBN News

Can Mike Huckabee win the GOP presidential nomination in 2016? To quote Sarah Palin: “You betcha.”
I have one word to sum up Mike Huckabee: "Reaganesque." That's right. I said it. He really does remind The Brody File of Ronald Reagan. He has a folksy charm and a humor that can diffuse a situation and make people comfortable even if you don't like his policies. He's hard to hate and that's not easy to do as a politician. But that's Huckabee’s charm. He's a politician that doesn't act like one. He's not a flame thrower. He's really just a regular guy from Arkansas that likes to play the guitar, enjoy a good meal and worship God (he also happens to be really smart too). Not many candidates can pull that off. read more here
http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Governor Huckabee Bids Farewell to Fox News: Next Stop a Presidential Run?

On Jan. 3, 2015, Governor Huckabee said goodbye to the viewers of his popular and long running Fox News show Huckabee. In the video below Governor Huckabee explains his decision to leave the show.
Had Michigan not been as close, the Democrats would have waited to spring this on us in the general election. Luckily we have it now and I hope Ohio voters are paying attention.

In July 2009, Mitt Romney wrote an op-ed in USA Today urging Barack Obama to usean individual mandate at the national level to control healthcare costs.

On the campaign trail now, Mitt Romney says the individual mandate is appropriate for Massachusetts, but not the nation. Repeatedly in debates, Romney has said he opposes a national individual mandate.

But back in 2009, as Barack Obama was formulating his healthcare vision for the country, Mitt Romney encouraged him publicly to use an individual mandate. In his op-ed, Governor Romney suggested that the federal government learn from Massachusetts how to make healthcare available for all. One of those things was “Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages “free riders” to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others.”

It is entitledMr. President, What’s the Rush?

Because of President Obama’s frantic approach, health care has run off the rails. For the sake of 47 million uninsured Americans, we need to get it back on track.

Health care cannot be handled the same way as the stimulus and cap-and-trade bills. With those, the president stuck to the old style of lawmaking: He threw in every special favor imaginable, ground it up and crammed it through a partisan Democratic Congress. Health care is simply too important to the economy, to employment and to America’s families to be larded up and rushed through on an artificial deadline. There’s a better way. And the lessons we learned in Massachusetts could help Washington find it.

No other state has made as much progress in covering their uninsured as Massachusetts. The bill that made it happen wasn’t a rush job. Shortly after becoming governor, I worked in a bipartisan fashion with Democrats to insure all our citizens. It took almost two years to find a solution. When we did, it passed the 200-member legislature with only two dissenting votes. It had the support of the business community, the hospital sector and insurers. For health care reform to succeed in Washington, the president must finally do what he promised during the campaign: Work with Republicans as well as Democrats.

Massachusetts also proved that you don’t need government insurance. Our citizens purchase private, free-market medical insurance. There is no “public option.” With more than 1,300 health insurance companies, a federal government insurance company isn’t necessary. It would inevitably lead to massive taxpayer subsidies, to lobbyist-inspired coverage mandates and to the liberals’ dream: a European-style single-payer system. To find common ground with skeptical Republicans and conservative Democrats, the president will have to jettison left-wing ideology for practicality and dump the public option.

The cost issue

Our experience also demonstrates that getting every citizen insured doesn’t have to break the bank. First, we established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance. Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages “free riders” to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others. This doesn’t cost the government a single dollar. Second, we helped pay for our new program by ending an old one — something government should do more often. The federal government sends an estimated $42 billion to hospitals that care for the poor: Use those funds instead to help the poor buy private insurance, as we did.

When our bill passed three years ago, the legislature projected that our program would cost $725 million in 2009. At $723 million, next year’s forecast is pretty much on target. When you calculate all the savings, including that from the free hospital care we eliminated, the net cost to the state is approximately $350 million. The watchdog Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation concluded that our program’s cost is “relatively modest” and “well within initial projections.”

And if subsidies and coverages are reined in, as I’ve suggested, the Massachusetts program could actually break even. One thing is certain: The president must insist on a program that doesn’t add to our spending burden. We simply cannot afford another trillion-dollar mistake.

The Massachusetts reform aimed at getting virtually all our citizens insured. In that, it worked: 98% of our citizens are insured, 440,000 previously uninsured are covered and almost half of those purchased insurance on their own, with no subsidy. But overall, health care inflation has continued its relentless rise. Here is where the federal government can do something we could not: Take steps to stop or slow medical inflation.

At the core of our health cost problem is an incentive problem. Patients don’t care what treatments cost once they pass the deductible. And providers are paid more when they do more; they are paid for quantity, not quality. We will tame runaway costs only when we change incentives. We might do what some countries have done: Require patients to pay a portion of their bill, except for certain conditions. And providers could be paid an annual fixed fee for the primary care of an individual and a separate fixed fee for the treatment of a specific condition. These approaches have far more promise than the usual bromides of electronic medical records, transparency and pay-for-performance, helpful though they will be.

Try a business-like analysis

I spent most of my career in the private sector. When well-managed businesses considered a major change of some kind, they engaged in extensive analysis, brought in outside experts, exhaustively evaluated every alternative, built consensus among those who would be affected and then moved ahead. Health care is many times bigger than all the companies in the Dow Jones combined. And the president is rushing changes that dwarf what any business I know has faced.

Republicans are not the party of “no” when it comes to health care reform. This Republican is proud to be the first governor to insure all his state’s citizens. Other Republicans such as Rep. Paul Ryan and Sens. Bob Bennett and John McCain, among others, have proposed their own plans. Republicans will join with the Democrats if the president abandons his government insurance plan, if he endeavors to craft a plan that does not burden the nation with greater debt, if he broadens his scope to reduce health costs for all Americans, and if he is willing to devote the rigorous effort, requisite time and bipartisan process that health care reform deserves.

Well, I am sorry to see those folks go. But, I cannot stay silent while Mitt Romney is leading in the polls. I truly believe that people are not looking at Mitt Romney for who he really is. So, even though I have lost readers, I will move onward with the mission to publish the truth. My goal is to see a true conservative sitting in the White House in 2012 - Mitt Romney is NOT that person!

The Paul campaign came out with a video that is worth watching, it sums Mitt Romney up well.
Disclaimer: I do not support Ron Paul's campaign, but he is right on about Romney.

I found this in my blog archive from 2007. Perhaps the voters in New Hampshire and South Carolina might take this information into consideration before they cast their vote.

If Mitt Romney will be dishonest when applying for the job of President, can you imagine what would happen if he was to actually get into office. Take it from someone who

Recently, Mitt Romney Recalled His Father "Marching" With Martin Luther King And Was Caught In Yet Another Exaggeration. Observers Have Noticed Romney's Pattern Of Economizing With The Truth

During His "Faith In America" Speech, Mitt Romney Stated Clearly: "I Saw My Father March With Martin Luther King." "In the most-watched speech of his political career, speaking on 'Faith in America' at College Station, Texas, earlier this month, Mitt Romney evoked the strongest of all symbolic claims to civil-rights credentials: 'I saw my father march with Martin Luther King.'" (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

On Other Occasions During The Campaign, Romney Repeated The Story That His Father Marched With King. "Romney has repeated the story of his father marching with King in some of his most prominent presidential campaign appearances, including the 'Tonight' show with Jay Leno in May, his address on faith and politics Dec. 6 in Texas, and on NBC's 'Meet The Press' on Sunday, when he was questioned about the Mormon Church's ban on full participation by black members. He said that he had cried in his car in 1978 when he heard the ban had ended, and added, 'My father marched with Martin Luther King.'" (The Boston Globe, 12/21/07)

(The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Years Ago, Romney Even Claimed That He Himself Joined King In A Civil Rights March. "Mitt Romney went a step further in a 1978 interview with the Boston Herald. Talking about the Mormon Church and racial discrimination, he said: 'My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit.'" (The Boston Globe, 12/21/07)

Matthews: "In 1978 … your candidate said, 'My father and I marched with Martin Luther King through the streets of Detroit.' Did Mitt Romney, your candidate, your client, march with Martin Luther King or didn't he?" Madden: "No, he did not." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 12/21/07)

According To Newspaper Accounts At The Time, Martin Luther King Refused To Criticize George Romney For Not Attending The Detroit Demonstration. "On Sunday, June 23, 1963, 125,000 people marched down Detroit's Woodward Avenue to the Civic Center, in what was described at the time as the largest civil-rights demonstration in the nation's history. According to the next day's account in the Holland Evening Sentinel, the crowd at the Center 'lustily booed,' when representatives of Governor George W. Romney read a proclamation declaring 'Freedom March Day in Michigan.' But Martin Luther King Jr. didn't fault Romney for his absence, which the governor ascribed to his policy against public appearances on the Sabbath. 'At a news conference following the march . . . [King] refused to criticize Romney for not attending the demonstration,' the Sentinel reported." (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

A Leading Historian, Who Is Editing King's Papers, Said "It Is Untrue That George Romney Marched With Martin Luther King." "Susan Englander, assistant editor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Papers Project at Stanford University, who is editing the King papers from that era, told the Globe yesterday: 'I researched this question, and indeed it is untrue that George Romney marched with Martin Luther King.'" A member of the committee that invited King to appear at Grosse Pointe High School on March 14, 1968 - the only time historians say King appeared in the Detroit suburb - says George Romney wasn't at the event and there was no 'march' at that time." Another Detroit Civil Rights Activist Recalls Marching With George Romney, But King Was Not In Attendance. "Arthur Johnson, a longtime Detroit civil rights activist and former president of the Detroit Branch NAACP, said Thursday he clearly recalls marching with George Romney in a fair housing demonstration in Grosse Pointe in 1963, Romney's first year as governor. But King, who led a major civil rights march in Detroit days earlier, did not attend, Johnson said." (The Associated Press, 12/21/07)

A Wayne State University Librarian Confirmed George Romney Did Not Attend The 1968 Event And King Was Not At The 1963 March. "William LeFevre of the Reuther Library at Wayne State University, who is in charge of the papers of the Grosse Pointe Civil Liberties Association, has since confirmed to the Phoenix that George Romney was not at the 1968 event, and that King was not at the 1963 event."

Once Again, When Caught Making A False Statement, Romney Backtracked And Parsed His Words - Like Former President Bill Clinton

Facing A Perfect Storm Of Academic And Personal Accounts, Romney Acknowledged He Personally Never Saw His Father March With King. "Mitt Romney acknowledged yesterday that he never saw his father march with Martin Luther King Jr. as he asserted in a nationally televised speech this month, and historical evidence shows that Michigan's Governor George Romney and the civil rights leader never did march together." (The Boston Globe, 12/21/07)

But Romney Said He Still Believes His Father Marched With King, Despite Evidence To The Contrary. "[Romney] indicated that he still believes his father, widely acknowledged as an advocate for an end to discrimination against African Americans, marched with King, even though witness accounts and reports in Free Press archives appear to contradict that claim." (The Associated Press, 12/21/07)

Since Romney's Brother Thinks He Saw His Father With King, Mitt Romney Said "In That Sense I Saw [George Romney] March" With King. Romney: "My brother also remembers him marching with Martin Luther King, and so in that sense I saw him march with Martin Luther King." (The Associated Press, 12/21/07)

Romney Also Argued He Was Correct In Saying He "Saw" His Father With King Because He Was Speaking "In A Figurative Sense." "[Romney] insisted that he was right to say that he 'saw' it himself. 'I 'saw' him in the figurative sense,' Romney said at a press conference. 'The reference of seeing my father lead in civil rights and seeing my father march with Martin Luther King is in the sense of this figurative awareness of and recognition of his leadership.'" (Salon.com, 12/21/07)

Romney Pointed Reporters To The Dictionary Meaning Of The Term "Saw."Romney: "If you look at the literature, if you look at the dictionary, the term 'saw' includes being aware of in the sense I've described. … It's a figure of speech and very familiar, and it's very common. And I saw my dad march with Martin Luther King. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I saw him in the sense of being aware of his participation in that great effort." (The Boston Globe, 12/21/07)

When We Say, 'I Saw The Patriots Win The World Series, It Doesn't Necessarily Mean You Were There -- Excuse Me, The Super Bowl." (The Associated Press, 12/21/07)

When Romney Supposedly "Saw" The March, He Was Cut Off From Virtually All Family Contact During His Two-Year Mormon Mission In France. "Mitt Romney would not have known about the event, let alone had a chance to 'see' it. He was at that time in the middle of his two-year mission for the Mormon church in Le Havre, France. By his own description and others', he was cut off from virtually all contact with his family; and at the time, King's Grosse Pointe appearance was no more than local news." (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Romney's Staff Scrambled To Reveal The Truth Without Contradicting Their Candidate - But They Found The Task Extremely Difficult

Initially, A Campaign Spokesman Parroted Romney's Claims That George Romney Marched In June 1963 With King. "A spokesperson for Mitt Romney now tells the Phoenix that George W. Romney and Martin Luther King Jr. marched together in June, 1963 -- although possibly not on the same day or in the same city." (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Then, Since King Marched In Detroit And George Romney Marched In Grosse Pointe On A Different Day, The Campaign Asserted The Two Marches Were Part Of The Same - At Least The Same "Series" Of Events. "Romney, according to one piece of written source material provided by the campaign, made a 'surprise' appearance at a small march in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, in late June -- several days after King led a much larger march in Detroit. Romney spokesperson Eric Fehrnstrom suggests that these two were part of the same 'series' of events, co-sponsored by King and the NAACP, and is thus consistent with Romney's claim that 'I saw my father march with Martin Luther King.'" (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Fehrnstrom: "The Record Is Convincing And Clear - George Romney Marched With Martin Luther King And Other Civil Rights Demonstrators." (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Under Questioning From NBC's Chris Matthews, Romney Press Secretary Kevin Madden Said He Believed George Romney Marched With King. Matthews: "Do you believe that George … Romney marched with Martin Luther King -- marched with him? Yes or no." Madden: "… I do believe he marched …" (MSNBC's "Hardball," 12/21/07)

Madden Also Reinforced The Idea That Mitt Romney And His Brother Scott Believe Their Father Marched With King. Matthews: "Was Martin Luther King and George Romney at the same parade ever? Ever?" Madden: "[T]hat's the memory that George Romney had and that Governor Romney has based on his recollections from the memories that George Romney and Scott Romney have." Matthews: "OK. So he believes his father did march with Martin Luther King." Madden: "Yes. Oh, yes." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 12/21/07)

Like His Boss, Madden Tried To Parse The Word "Saw." Madden: "I think the problem that we have here in the discussion that has probably taken a step too far, has been this discussion over the word 'saw' and whether or not we should parse what 'saw' meant." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 12/21/07)

Unfortunately, The King Incident Was Not The First Time Romney Made False Claims About His Record And Those Of His Opponents

Recently Romney Attacked Sen. John McCain For Opposing Tax Cuts That, As Governor, Romney Rejected. "Taking aim at a rallying John McCain, New Hampshire front-runner Mitt Romney said Saturday that his GOP presidential rival had failed 'Reagan 101' by twice opposing President Bush's tax cuts. … 'He voted against the Bush tax cuts twice,' Romney said. 'That's failing Reagan 101. (Ronald) Reagan taught … almost all of us in the Republican Party that lowering taxes would grow the economy and was good for our economy and good for individuals." (The Associated Press, 12/22/07)

In 2003, Romney Told The Boston Globe That He "Won't Be A Cheerleader" For Tax Cut Proposals With Which He Did Not Agree. "At the time of the [2003] votes, Romney was in his first stint in elective office, leading Massachusetts. The Boston Globe reported that year that during a meeting in Washington with the Massachusetts congressional delegation, Romney was asked about the tax cuts and said he 'won't be a cheerleader' for proposals he did not agree with." (The Associated Press, 12/22/07)

Romney Used To Portray Himself As An Avid Sportsman, Claiming He Was A "Hunter Pretty Much All My Life." "When asked at public forums about his stance on guns, Mr. Romney portrayed himself as a sportsman, a 'hunter pretty much all my life,' who strongly supported the right to bear arms. He recalled how he had gone hunting with his cousins as a teenager. The last time he went hunting, he said, was last year, when he shot quail in Georgia and 'knocked down quite a few birds.' 'So I've been pretty much hunting all my life,' he said again." (The New York Times, 12/22/07)

"When challenged, his campaign said that Romney had gone hunting just twice -- once when he was 15 and once last year, when he shot at quail on an outing with GOP campaign contributors. Romney subsequently argued that he'd done more than that: 'I've always been a rodent and rabbit hunter,' he said. 'Small varmints, if you will. I began when I was 15 or so and I have hunted those kinds of varmints since then. More than two times.'" (Salon.com, 12/21/07)

Romney Also Alleged That The National Rifle Association Endorsed Him In 2002 - Another Mistake. "Romney claimed on the NBC News program 'Meet the Press' last Sunday that he received from the National Rifle Association while running for governor of Massachusetts in 2002, when it turned out the group had never endorsed him." (The New York Times, 12/22/07)

In Statements And In Advertisements, Romney Claimed As Governor He Got Tough On Crime And Cracked Down On Meth Labs. "'I'm very proud of the fact that we, my state, when I was governor, we made it tougher for people with meth labs,' Mr. Romney said, echoing his commercial in which he claimed that he 'got tough on drugs like meth' while in the governor's office. 'We cracked down on crime and on meth in particular,' Mr. Romney added." (The New York Times, 12/22/07)

"But both the advertisement and Mr. Romney's claims on his record were misleading. Mr. Romney's office proposed legislation that would have toughened penalties on those in possession of methamphetamine and the chemicals to manufacture it, but the bill stalled in the state legislature." (The New York Times, 12/22/07)

Romney Then Corrected The Record: He Did Not Get Tough But Rather "Proposed We Get Tough" On Meth. "After The New York Times pointed out Mr. Romney's misstatement in a posting on its politics blog, he made sure to correct himself before taking questions from reporters at his next campaign stop here. 'If I said this morning that we 'got tough' on methamphetamines, I proposed we get tough on methamphetamine, and I've corrected that right here for all of you,' he said.'' (The New York Times, 12/22/07)

Romney Asserted He Was A Reluctant Politician, Convinced To Run For Governor By Panicked Republicans Who Wanted A Winner. "Romney also cast himself as a reluctant politician, focusing instead on his 25-year business career and stint helping to resurrect the financially troubled 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. 'When I came home, some people in the Massachusetts Republican Party encouraged me to run for office and said, 'We need somebody who can win and who can fix Massachusetts,' Romney said." They are the actions of a man desperate to cater to the whims of his audience. What they want, he must appear to be. This is the opposite of leadership - the opposite of the actions taken by his father in the 1960s." (The Boston Phoenix, 12/21/2007)

Dean Of Boston University's College Of Communication Tobe Berkovitz Believes "The One Extra Step" Causes Romney All The Trouble. BERKOVITZ: "It's the fine-tuning that's created the problem. Romney and Santorum were the top vote getters. Bachmann dropped out of the race. Now its onward to New Hampshire. The race right now is between Romney(moderate)and the anti-Romney candidate - Rick Santorum(conservative). I think the current anti-Romney candidate is not a conservative as he appears. Clearly, Rick Santorum is a social conservative, he is very active in the pro-life community and should be commended for his strong stance on the issues of family and life. But, I have serious reservations about calling Rick Santorum a fiscal conservative. When he was a Senator, Rick Santorum spent a lot of the tax payers money by way of earmarks on outlandish projects. So with a record of being a big spender, Santorum really doesn't fully fit into the conservative mold.

What candidate left standing are actually social and fiscal conservatives? There is only one, Governor Rick Perry.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Mike Huckabee's Speech at the Nixon Library

November 28, 2010: Former Arkansas Governor and current Fox News host Mike Huckabee discusses the current state of the union and the conservative principles that should be applied to get America back on course. Governor Huckabee's speech was excellent and well received by the audience. After the lecture he signed copies of his new Christmas novel that teaches patience as a virtue, "Can't Wait Till Christmas."
As we gather around our dinner tables with family and loved ones - I hope you join me in reflecting on many blessings we've been given and remember to help those who may be less fortunate. In fact, one of the most rewarding feelings about the holiday season comes when you find ways to help others in your community. Perhaps you can donate to a food bank, or volunteer to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to those in need. You can invite a friend or neighbor to share in your family's Thanksgiving dinner. Offer prayers for our leaders, for the world, for our nation and for our communities. Whatever you can do will most certainly be appreciated - and that selfless service will fill you up with a wonderful feeling that only comes from helping your fellow man.

Also, make sure you offer a special prayer of protection and thanks to our magnificent service men and women who are still fighting to keep us free - they willingly sacrifice their holidays so we don't have to.
And it has to do with whether he even runs in the first place.

As potential 2012 candidates weigh their prospects and determine their plans for the next presidential race, one thing is clear: that Huckabee and Palin inhabit largely the same space -- i.e. they each would perform well without the other, but they might undercut each other if they are in the same race.

There is currently a four-candidate top-tier consisting of Palin, Huckabee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. And indeed, a new Quinnipiac University poll on Monday showed the four of them all huddled between 15 and 19 percent of the vote.

But while Romney and Gingrich have pretty broad support, the base of support for Huckabee and Palin is readily apparent, and for both of them, it starts with born-again evangelicals. The two of them combine for 46 percent of that vote, compared to just 26 percent for Gingrich and Romney. Palin and Huckabee are also the top two vote-getters among women and people without college degrees.

So why is that important? Because if any of the four frontrunners seems least likely to run for president, it would be Huckabee. And, if he doesn't take the plunge, where is his 26 percent share of evangelicals going to go? Where is his 18 percent share of women going? Who gets his 17 percent share of those without college degrees?

The obvious answer to all three of those questions is Palin. Gingrich has been married three times and has some baggage to show for it. Romney's ability to connect with rural, Christian voters, meanwhile, remains suspect because of his Mormonism.

It's hard to see Palin having a path to victory that doesn't include Iowa or South Carolina, and both of those early states happened to be Huckabee's strongest in 2008 (he won Iowa and came in second in the Palmetto State).

At a speech Monday in the Hawkeye State, Huckabee went on to joke that, if he does run, "I prefer she not and that she endorse me."

He's only half kidding. Mike Huckabee in 2012, Obama may have difficulty with that demographic and winning a second term.

A CNN poll conducted just after the midterm election showed Huckabee defeating Obama in a general-election match-up, 52 percent to 44, while Obama defeated former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) by the inverse, 52 percent to 44 percent. The reason for the huge difference? Women. Obama led Huckabee by only 2 percent among that group, but he led Palin by 15.

In a Quinnipiac survey of the 2012 race released on Monday, Huckabee performed 7 percent better than Palin with women in a match-up against Obama, and when it came to favorability ratings, he had a net rating that was 33 percent higher than the former Alaska governor’s.

President Obama is defending the humiliating and unconstitutional electronic strip searches by machines that are making its manufacturers filthy rich and the flying public hopping mad. The President also says that there isn't a choice about the federal fondling and groping of the private parts of totally law-abiding citizens by government agents. Mr. President, I issue a challenge---if you don't find anything wrong with these practices that presume the guilt of an American before he or she proves innocence, then I ask you to take your wife, your 2 daughters, and your mother in law to Reagan National Airport and have them go through the full body scanner and then be subjected to the same and full body grabbing grope by the government agents that you authorized to do it. Do it in public where all can see. When you do that, maybe some of the rest of us won't be as angry as watching our wives, daughters, and mothers humiliated and degraded like criminals just in order to fly on a plane.
Host Joy Behar, the talk show’s outspoken liberal, said of Huckabee, “He’s my favorite Republican.”

But before sharing her affection for the governor, Behar and her co-hosts grilled him (daytime-TV style) about whether he plans to throw his hat in the 2012 ring.

“Will you be running for president?” Barbara Walters asked Huckabee right off the bat.

“It’s for me a decision that I will make later in the year, next year,” said Huckabee. He said his decision would be based, in part, on whether he’s got enough support. “If people are sick of me, I probably won’t do it. The serious questions are, Is there enough financial support and enough organizational support?”

The Fox News personality went on to say that America starts the presidential process way too early and that “there is too much of a focus on process and not policy.”

As for his chances against Barack Obama, Huckabee said he wouldn’t run unless he thought he could beat the president, admitting that it’s no fun to lose. In the book, Huckabee describes how he used to open his Christmas presents, testing them out and then stealthily rewrapping them. He described the children’s book as a story so simple, “even Congress can understand it.”

Both lead President Barack Obama in a new poll released by Quinnipiac University Monday. The poll shows Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, leading Obama 45 percent to 44 percent. And former Arkansas governor Huckabee beats Obama 46 percent to 44 percent.

The Quinnipiac University poll is good news. The poll shows that Americans have had enough of the irresponsibility and incompetence of the current administration. But, there is something a little disturbing about this poll - Mitt Romney. Yes, Mitt Romney is a whiz with business in the private sector, too bad his great business sense was left untapped when he ran the state of Massachusetts. Romney's stint as Governor left Massachusetts with a mandated health insurance program. RomneyCare, as we call it in Massachusetts, is one of the biggest debacles to ever hit our state. Conservatives need to think about RomneyCare and just say "NO" to Mitt Romney in 2012. Mitt Romney stated in 2008 "I like mandates" this statement should speak volumes to conservatives.

Research RomneyCare:
My wife
Stephanie and I were blessed with our first child in the fall, Addison
Marie.

Addison is a sweetheart, a very good-natured little girl and her
presence has truly reaffirmed and strengthened my belief that we must
defend the traditional family. Marriage and the family unit are under
assault in America today.

The courts, from Massachusetts to California, are working to redefine
marriage out of existence. Our government is spending too much, making
it harder for families to afford the necessities, like gas and food, and
burdening our children with debt. In an era of tremendous
challenges-from international terrorism, to a weakening economy, to
skyrocketing oil prices- we need to make sure we get the fundamentals
right.

We must begin by strengthening the family, not tearing it down.

The November election will be a defining election for our children's
future. Let us not forget who we are fighting for.

Brad Lager from Missouri, is a candidate for State Treasurer.

Pro-life Without Apology

by Senator Jim Inhofe [click here to visit website]

Americans Deserve Better On Energy

by Senator Elizabeth Dole [click here to visit website]

   Send to a friend

I am continuing my fight to bring immediate and long term relief to the rising price of gas. I have heard from North Carolinians and people from across the country that are being hurt every day by the increased burden this puts on your lives. I have put forward a real plan that provides immediate and long term relief and I will be fighting for its passage in the United States Senate.

Everyone agrees we need to fix this growing problem, but there is widespread disagreement on just how to accomplish it. I often hear, "Drill for more oil here at home," "Become less dependent on foreign sources for oil" or "Find alternative sources for energy so we don't have to rely on oil.

All of those suggestions are accurate.

In the future, we may have sources of alternative energy that will power all our needs, burn cleanly and render gasoline obsolete. However, we are years, if not decades, away from a solution of this magnitude. The reality of today's world is that we rely on oil in this country to drive to work, harvest crops, transport goods, fly planes, build roads and heat our homes. We must take serious and responsible actions that provide families and businesses with some near-term relief. That is why I have called on the president to immediately release one third of the supply from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which will immediately provide relief at the pump because of an increased supply of oil available for refinement and will punish the oil speculators who are betting against America. This will not jeopardize national security because the reserve would still contain a 60 day supply.

In addition, I have called on the president to create an Oil and Gas Market Fraud Task Force, which will ensure that energy markets are free from illegal manipulation and corporate corruption. This new Task Force can help restore the confidence of Americans in our oil and gas markets and prevent further harm to our economy.

While we focus on the short-term relief, we must also work towards long-term solutions. Given that the reasons for oil price fluctuation are more complicated than simply supply and demand, I believe our government must have an oil strategy. We need to increase supply by investing at home and increasing or starting environmentally-sound production in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico and ANWR. I also helped introduce the Gas Price Reduction Act, which would allow states, including North Carolina, the option to open areas, at least 50 miles offshore, to energy exploration as long as it is safe, clean and not visible from the land. States would be able to receive 37.5 percent of the revenues from oil and gas found off their coasts. This bill also would lift a moratorium on oil shale in the Rocky Mountain West, where experts estimate there is three times the oil that is in Saudi Arabia.

The liberals in Congress like to argue that if we begin drilling in ANWR it will take ten years to realize the increase in supply. If President Clinton hadn't vetoed legislation in 1996 to open 2,000 of the 19.6 million acres in a remote area of Alaska for exploration, our current energy deficit would already be reduced by roughly one million barrels of oil per day. How long must we wait? The time for action is now.

In fact, since Democrats have taken back control of Congress, gas prices have risen by about $2 per gallon. Now, my opponent wants to point fingers, but she should look no further than her friends in Washington who have blocked responsible oil exploration since I was elected and long before.

However, simply having more oil is not only the long-term solution we need for this country's economic stability. It is vital to also lessen demand through technology and conservation. I support further increasing fuel economy standards for all vehicles and providing point-of-sale rebates for hybrid and clean diesel vehicle purchases, which will save millions of barrels of oil per day. I have co-sponsored numerous bills to pursue those goals, including the Clean Energy Investment Act and Clean Energy Tax Stimulus Act.

Many politicians "talk" about high gas prices support energy plans that do nothing to produce a single barrel of oil or bring the price of gas down a single cent. I have a plan that immediately addresses high gas prices and increases energy independence over the long term. The American people are tired of political gimmicks and empty platitudes. North Carolinians and all Americans deserve better.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this important issue.

The Time Has Come For A FairTax.

by Bob Clegg [click here to visit website]

   Send to a friend

Over the past few months, many of you saw checks in the mail from the federal government. As part of the so-called "stimulus package", the government returned $600 that it originally took from your paycheck. Apparently, Washington politicians came to the realization that more money in your pocket will stimulate the economy and thereby create jobs. The cost of notifying you of the $600 "rebate" was somewhere in the neighborhood of $42 million…and that didn't even cover the cost of printing new checks and mailing them back to you!

Imagine if the government had left that money in your paycheck in the beginning. Imagine if the government didn't spend $42 million to let you know it was sending you back some of your hard earned dollars. Imagine if the government didn't spend millions more of your money sending you back your money.

That is one of the reasons why I am a proponent of the Fair Tax. Let's leave the paycheck with the family. Let's not tax the worker who takes on a second job to send his daughter to college, and reward those who would rather sit back relying on the government to increase taxes to do it for him. Let's change the system to one where your purchasing decisions determine what taxes you pay and your productivity is rewarded not punished.

It's time for America to allow a family to work hard to better itself, to feed itself, to nurture the belief that a self-sufficient, self-reliant population is a better place than one that waits for government to do it all. We need to reward hard work. We need to leave the paycheck in the pocket of those who have earned it. The time has come for a Fair Tax.

A Deep, Abiding Respect For Life

by Senator Lamar Alexander [click here to visit website]

   Send to a friend

I'm pro-life, and I know that many of you share my deep and abiding respect for life in all of its forms.

I continue to believe what women in crisis need most is our care and support. I support adoption as an alternative to abortion and encourage efforts to make adopting a child easier. And I've fought in the Senate for numerous pro-life measures.

I cosponsored the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 to end that dreadful and unnecessary procedure. And, through that law was challenged in federal courts, I was heartened that the U.S. Supreme Court did the right thing last year by upholding the ban.

I supported the Unborn Victims of Violence Act – also known as Laci and Conner’s Law – which made it a criminal offense to injure or kill a fetus during the commission of a violent crime against a pregnant woman.

And I was proud to cosponsor and vote for the Child Custody Protection Act, a measure which would make it a federal offense to transport a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion if the intent is to circumvent a parental notification or consent law in the state where the minor lives. In many cases, we’re talking about girls who couldn’t even go on a school field trip without a parent’s permission. And I firmly believe that a young lady should have her parent’s involvement in such a life-changing decision.

Despite strong bipartisan support in both chambers and Senate approval by a vote of 65-34, this bill never became law because the Democratic leadership in the Senate refused to allow the two Houses to meet and agree to a final version to send to the President for his signature.

The inexcusable lack of progress on the Child Custody Protection Act demonstrates how badly our nation needs leaders who share our commitment to the culture of life. Fortunately, our ground speed was only 60 mph and the pilots acted professionally and immediately shut down the take off and stopped the plane before we attempted to go wheels up. The reason I know that is because I was in the cockpit with the crew when it happened. Of all the times to be invited to sit up front for the take off in a 767, it would be last night! As we rolled, it first sounded like we had blown a tire, but passengers on the right side of the plane saw flames coming out of the engine. There was an apparent air pressure problem in the engine and we lost the engine within seconds of the critical “point of no return”. We were taken off the plane and brought back to the hotel, getting to sleep around 2am, looking for flights to get us home. The latest for me is a very long journey that will go from Rwanda to Nairobi to Paris to Atlanta and eventually to Little Rock IF—and I stress IF—all goes according to plan. I have to cancel some speeches and events, but in light of what might have been, it’s not that bad.

If you saw the movie “Hotel Rwanda,” you know Don Cheadle’s character took care of the unexpected guests for over 100 days during the Genocide. Kigali is now a very safe and orderly city, but if Don Cheadle could get me a flight out of here straightway, I would be ever so grateful!

The trip has been truly remarkable in being able to see a nation reborn and experiencing spiritual and economic revival. There’s still a long way to go, but yesterday we met with President Kagame for almost 4 hours and came away with real admiration for a determined leader who does not want his country to become dependent, but independent. He turns away relief efforts that do not create capacity for growth and empowerment of his own people. His refreshing view is that to simply dump money into the hands of needy people is wrong and counter-productive. He is about creating real jobs and insisting that people work and earn what they receive. I will offer updates when and if I can---often dependent on a VERY unstable internet capacity here.

Even though I am not able to participate the way I had planned, I hope you will still join me in promoting the candidates that will be posting on Huck PAC throughout the day. We have asked the candidates and supporters of Huck PAC to blog about their ideas and solutions to the problems we face. Many will also discuss their feelings and beliefs about marriage and life I hope you will visit us starting at noon today and check back in frequently throughout the day.

I also ask, and this is critical, that you promote what you read by sending posts about the candidates to friends and family. Their is a "send to a friend link" in the upper right corner of each blog post. We will track the number of friends these blogs are being sent to. We think it is a great way to show how committed we are to these candidates. Also share these blog posts with bloggers you know and encourage them to blog about what they read.

We have a chance to do something special for the candidates today, if and only if, we work together.

From Kigali (still),

Mike Huckabee

Visit HuckPac.com to comment on this post

http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Mike Huckabee's Second Report From Rwanda With Video

From Rwanda

by Mike Huckabee

   Send to a friend

It is very late Sunday night here in Rwanda. Today was an exceptionally long day that involved several hours on the bus, but a very enlightening and inspirational day.

The past two mornings, I’ve gotten up early and gone alone to breakfast as soon as the hotel dining room opens and enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful solitude on the veranda overlooking the hotel grounds. The morning temperature has been in the low to mid 60’s, cool and dry. I’ve enjoyed being the only diner outdoors on the deck, watching and listening for the birds to wake up and flit about the trees at eye level from the second floor dining area.

Being alone is not being lonely. My experience is that God tends to show up when we’re alone, quiet, and make room for Him at our table. I’ve had the opportunity to reflect and renew in those peaceful moments before the busyness of the day starts.

Our delegation attended church at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral in Ruhengeri. The two hour bus ride was worth it to hear the powerful message by Bishop John Rucyanhana, known throughout Rwanda and in much of the USA as “Bishop John.” He has be a strong force for spiritual revival and reconciliation in this nation and his rapidly growing congregation swells to over 1000 each weekend. A luncheon on the tourism market was followed by a visit to the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project where we saw several mountain gorillas up close. The connection between all of God’s creations are stunning and many of the keys to discovering causes and cures for diseases rest with better understanding the balance of humans, animals, and the world we share. There were some intense and powerful spiritual lessons to be learned from the integration of our interdependence with the other parts of what God made. AIDS, anthrax, and avian flu first existed in animals before it was found among humans, and just as astonishing, some of our vaccines to save our lives come from the animals.

After a dinner discussing economic challenges and opportunities in Rwanda, it was back to the hotel around 11pm to catch a few hours sleep before trips to health clinics tomorrow and visits to Rwandan homes.

Throughout the trip, I’m reminded of how truly blessed we are as Americans and how deeply grateful we should be. But I have been amazed at the sheer joy in the faces of many Rwandans who have nothing materially, but exude a joy that belies their lack of “things.” Maybe they don’t have much, but what they have doesn’t “have them,” and what they don’t have doesn’t bother them. They have hope and look forward, not backwards. It’s a reminder that what we are inside is always more important than what we have outside.

From Rwanda and the ONE campaign—Mike Huckabee

One.org just posted this video:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Mike Huckabee's First Report From Rwanda

July 19, 2008 - 12:07 PM

Greetings From Kigali Rwanda

by Mike Huckabee

   Send to a friend
I’m part of a delegation sponsored by the ONE campaign which has come to Rwanda to see first hand the impact of investment in efforts here to curb malaria and yellow fever and HIV/AIDS. We are also meeting with survivors of the horrific 1994 genocide. Today we met at the Hotel des Milles Collines, better known as “Hotel Rwanda” where nearly 1000 Tutsi’s and tourists huddled for 100 days to keep from being slaughtered. The movie, “Hotel Rwanda” starring Don Cheadle is an Oscar winner and a moving and gripping account of the atrocities that claimed over 1 million lives in the 100 days of genocide. It was a very emotional experience to hear the first hand stories of some of those who survived the genocide, but who still had physical and mental scars they will carry from not only their personal wounds, but seeing their family members killed.

The ONE campaign is helping to bring attention on this part of the world and doing it in a non-partisan manner. Cindy McCain, Bill Frist, Tom Daschle are among those on the trip. I will try to post some information each day as possible about the goings on during the trip.

Here in Rwanda, deaths from malaria have dropped by 50% in the past two years due to expanded distribution of mosquito nets and treatment medication.

We visited a coffee washing station where beans grown here in Rwanda are sorted and prepared for specialty high end coffee for roasters like Starbucks. Women sort beans for about $1.50 per day, which means that they make almost 50% more than the average worker. Give us all something to appreciate.

Thanks for your prayers, but especially remember the people living in places like Rwanda, who care deeply about their families and lives, but have few resources to work with. Makes me love our country even more.

God bless and take care!

Mike Huckabee, from Rwanda
http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Mike Huckabee: $4.11 National Average For Gallon Of Gas

July 17, 2008 - 12:43 PM

by Mike Huckabee

   Send to a friend

Did you or your family decide not to take a summer vacation this year because the cost to drive your car or the cost of an airline ticket has tripled since last year?

Could the $50-60 you likely just spent filling your gas tank have gone towards something more meaningful like dinner with your husband or wife or a good friend?

Have you noticed the price of food and milk and juice is creeping skyward because increased fuel costs are being built into the prices at your local grocery store?

Well I have and I am not satisifed. Now maybe I am asking for too much, but I don't see why we can't get some action out of Washington with a real plan that invests in our long term future.

We have to explore, we have to conserve and we have to pursue all avenues of alternative energy: nuclear, wind, solar, hydrogen, clean coal, biodiesel and biomass. And while we are at it, let's drill here and drill now!

America not only needs some forward thinking on this issue, we also need some real leadership from our elected officials in Washington. That's why Huck PAC is enthusiastically supporting candidates that are making solutions to our energy crisis a top focus of their campaign.

I fear that it's more of the same for Americans if we don't seize this moment now, and finally do something about our energy future. Will we? Or will we hit the snooze button on the alarm and leave it up to our kids and grandkids?

Today I ask that you invest the national average for a gallon of gas $4.11 into Huck PAC's efforts to support these candidates. While $4.11 may seem like an insignificant amount, let me assure it will make a real difference to our grassroots plan.

Our online operation is as efficient as it was during the campaign and we are rolling out new features on our website in the coming weeks that will help us mobilize our supporters nationwide in support of our candidates and the issues we support such as energy independence, life and marriage.

So please consider showing your support for our grassroots efforts by making a contribution of $4.11, the national average for a gallon of gas.

I believe that energy independence is possible with leadership and action!

That is why I am grateful for Republican candidates who are willing to make this an issue they are building their campaigns around.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee

Video: Huckabee On Hannity & Colmes 7/14/08

On Monday July 14th, Governor Huckabee appeared on Hannity & Colmes to gives his take on what we need to do now to achieve energy independence.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/MassachusettsForMikeHuckabee
