Re-Tweeting With Efficiency, RT Over Via

Some prefer retweeting messages in Twitter with a "RT" in the beginning of a tweet, some use "via" in the end. In several cases, I've noticed that if a tweet starts with a "RT", it's way more faster to figure out that the text isn't originally written by the user who posted it.
Let me explain with two examples. Imagine I posted two tweets on Twitter feed:
New iMacs Feature 21.5 and 27-inch Displays and Available Quad-Core Processors http://j.mp/1xlX8P (via @theappleblog)
RT @theappleblog: New iMacs Feature 21.5 and 27-inch Displays and Available Quad-Core Processors http://j.mp/1xlX8P
First one appears like I wrote it, word by word, but when eye reaches the end, you find out that I didn't. In the second example, there's no question who's text it was originally.
Also when a tweet starts with a RT, I can skip most tweets by just reading first three or four words after finding out it is the same tweet re-tweeted by another user.
What do you think?

Few years ago I found Font Forge. It certainly doesn't look nice, have an intuitive UI or pretty icons, but it does it's job.

	Here we go again:
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/10/facebook-ensnared-in-two-soci...
Someone decided it's a smart idea to give patents to features that were invented years before the patent application was even filed.
It's just a shame I didn't get patent for navigation: set of links in website's header, footer, sidebar or content.
Or profile page: a page or a website with an user image, name or other personal info.
So, if it's anything web related, stamp a big red denied label in it and move on to the next one. Thanks.

Tweetie 2 for iPhone - First Impressions

Just got Tweetie 2 for iPhone (iTunes link) and spent few minutes with it. Previous Tweetie was always my favorite Twitter client and this seems to be even better.

Now there's more options on the settings, such as font size, custom image, video and URL shortening services, custom quote syntax and Auto Rotate, so finally you can tweet by holding your iPhone horizontally.

When writing a tweet, you can get an image from the camera or your photo library, and add usernames and hashtags with few taps. What's have been the only annoyance in the previous Tweetie, the lack of button for shrinking URLs - it's now there!

Really nice touch is the refresh mechanism, that doesn't require any tapping: just pull the tweet list down and release to refresh. Skin on my fingers says thanks.

Will have to spend some more time on it, but now I'll do something completely else. Pretending to have a life, you know. Not really. Playing Lego Indiana Jones until I fell asleep.

As watching my 4 year old daughter play Sonic & Knuckles, the well known sequal of the quite legendary Megadrive game Sonic The Hedgehog, I remembered about Quackshot.
Quackshot was perhaps one of the best games on Megadrive back then. I hope they bring that on the Xbox Live some day, it would really be worth 400 points or maybe even a little bit more.
More about Quackshot on Wikipedia
Ps. There's something really different on those old games compared to new ones, since even my soon-to-be 3 year old son picked up controls on Sonic extremely fast. Maybe some games for children should pick some hints from the oldies and utilize only one button and the stick/d-pad.

Thanks to Posterous' simple custom URL's, my old blog domain massivesight.com redirects now to my Posterous site. Old posts are gone for now, but I might import them to Posterous some day.
I must say: now that was easy. But now I want an URL to my Twitter feed. ;)

Few months ago I started a blog called Massive Sight. My intention was to write about webdesign, coding (PHP & Javascript), Apple stuff etc. All the topics I follow in a daily basis.
After just only few days I noticed that it's just too time consuming - but fun. Also I wanted to write about games, but it really didn't fit the overall concept. I like having a blog, but it must take as little time as possible. So it's time for a change. No stress, no concepts. Just fun.
One nice thing about Posterous is, that you don't have to worry about the blog engine itself. There's nothing to update, no plugins to worry about. Combined to the extremely easy posting, I made my mind that I'll throw in massivesight.com as a "custom URL" for my Posterous and start enjoying my blog again.
But now I'll catch some sleep.

Batman, Brutal Legend, all good

Played maybe a bit too late some new demos I got from Xbox Live. But don't get me started on those graphics on the Batman... Yet again Unreal Engine shows it's powers. The level of detail is mad, especially on the characters. Playability and controls left room for some improvement, but pretty neat package overall. Looking forward to it.
Second demo I tested was a game I thought was going to be not so interesting, sort of dull perhaps. But once the opening scenes from Brutal Legend started, and finally when I got feel of the heavy metal dude, I was sold. Now that is something different. A must get.
Finally, even the Ghostbusters was pretty good, but nowhere near those first two. Funny, that I think C64's version is more scary, but they managed to build up some moments there.
And my wishlist grows.

Fable 2 Downloadable in Episodes

I just spotted from Xbox Live that Fable 2 can be downloaded in 5 episodes. That is a pretty nice idea to offer a full length game in pieces, but even when the first episode is free the pricing is way off.
4 episodes is 1120 points each, which means 13,5 euros per episode. This sums up to total of 54 euros which is almost the same price as when the game hit the stores way back. A quick browse on the game stores gave me a price of 17 euros for a brand new game, so what's the point in this?
I could pay 5 euros per episode and just keep playing right now, but price tag on the downloadable is just too much. Hope they come to senses some time in the future.

This week I have been mostly cancelling my newsletter subscriptions. Reason doing this is mainly because news in newsletters are always old - really old. Strictly news related newsletters are slowly getting killed by RSS feeds. No one wants to send or receive an email when a new news article is posted.
Newsletters have become mainly a marketing channel for me, and I can't see that's going to change. But fewer emails means a happier inbox, so I keep cancelling.
