Manajer timnas Italia yakni Cesare Prandelli sedang mempunyai kabar gembira tentang Euro 2012 ini. Pasalnya Italia berhasil dibawanya lolos ke perhelatan Euro 2012, Cesare Prandelli sangat yakin tim arahannya bisa berbicara banyak dalam ajang sepakbola Euro 2012. Keputusan Pep Guardiola untuk meninggalkan kursi pelatih FC Barcelona membuat Lionel Messi patah hati. Pemain asal Argentina yang telah mengoleksi 41 gol di La Liga musim ini sengaja tak datang saat Guardiola mengumumkan kepergiannya.

"Saya memutuskan lebih baik tidak hadir dalam konferensi pers Pep, terutama karena saya tahu pers akan menyorot wajah duka para pemain dan ini sesuatu yang tidak ingin saya tunjukkan," Messi menuliskan dalam laman facebooknya, Jumat, 27 April 2012.

Josep Guardiola mengumumkan keputusannya dalam jumpa pers di Camp Nou, Jumat 27 April 2012. Dalam jumpa pers tersebut, Pep mengaku letih dan butuh istirahat. Ia akan resmi meninggalkan Barcelona akhir musim nanti.

"Setiap hari selama empat tahun, tuntutan sangat tinggi, tekanan, dan energi yang diperlukan untuk mendorong pemain serta menikmatinya. Saya perlu istirahat dan pindah,” kata Pep. "Saya bangga, saya telah melakukan tugas.”

Sebelum menggelar jumpa pers, Pep terlebih dahulu memberi tahu keputusanya untuk berhenti kepada para pemain. Wajah-wajah mendung seketika menyambut keputusannya.

"Saya ingin berterima kasih sepenuh hati," Messi menuliskan. "Betapa Pep telah begitu banyak membantu saya, baik secara pribadi maupun untuk perkembangan karir profesional saya."

Sejak memulai debutnya 2008 lalu, Pep telah memberikan sumbangan besar bagi Barcelona: meraih tiga gelar Liga Spanyol, satu Copa Ddel Rey, tiga Supercopa de Espana, dua Liga Champions, dua Piala Super Eropa, dan dua Piala Dunia Antarklub.
