Bologna Design Week – September 25th to 29th, 2018 – has been growing in participation, and this year includes a network of over 100 events, including exhibitions, workshops, design talks and installations, held inside historic buildings, museums, universities, academies, art galleries, theaters, private houses and showrooms.

On the occasion of the Design Night on September 26th, Lorella Rita Cavallo’s tailor’s atelier will be the setting for Il paesaggio cambia tre volte, an event of design, performance and food art curated by Francesca Divano.

During the night, performer Laura Ulisse will lead the visitors on a path freely inspired by famous surrealist artist Max Ernst’s book The Woman with 100 Heads. The performer will interact with Cavallo’s new collection of clothes, with photographic material by Matilde Soligno, and with a soundscape by Michele Braga and Max Macchia.

Set up for the occasion with the unique furnishings of Spazio Domestico, the space will display a theatrical trunk that belonged to Lindsay Kemp, a sofa by Anacleto Spazzapan, and other rarities which will be unveiled during the evening.

The event will be accompanied by theme refreshments, within a special setting including floral installations by Rami San Mamolo and hundreds of glasses hanging outside of the large atelier window.

Janus, BKLYN is a project spanning a few years.

I realized it during the time I lived in Bushwick, a neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.

Below you can PREVIEW THE ARTIST BOOK:

You can PURCHASE THE ARTIST BOOK AT THIS LINK

Brooklyn, 2018.
Rendering for the ArteFiera installation. Bologna, 2018.

This show features books that consider the present day medium of books. The books in this show achieve their goals in the terms of: defining books, book as object (tangibility encountering virtual life), narrative book (entry point for the story, making participatory entries by using invented bindings), chapbook (using self-publication systems), and image book (archive method, high-resolution).

Nosadella.due
presenta
Ca’Publique – interventi artistici in case private

Ingresso a offerta libera

In T_O, naked bodies are the field where the private and the public meet.

The T_O project includes two large diptychs and an installation of nine smaller images. The photographs were shot on medium format negatives and then digitally post-produced.

In the images, nude figures pose in couples in a barren environment. All portrayed couples are bound by strong relations in real life – carnal bonds such as those between mother and child, siblings, and lovers.

The difference with showing single models in solo frames – which enables the viewer to construct of a one-to-one fantasy relationship with them – is that, with couples, other connotations – the intimate relationship in between the two models – can come to the surface.
The spectator is in this case the third pole in the relationship, at the time of the shooting as well as before the printed artwork. Indeed the project’s name (T_O) suggests a movement in between the numbers 2 and 3.

The naked body in portraiture has always been a strong indicator of its own time, by reflecting its moral standards and how the human body is conceived at a certain moment in history. For many centuries religious/mythological figures in particular – for instance, Adam and Eve – were used in painting as a way to represent the naked body, usually a controversial, prohibited subject.
Today a major code for nudity is that subject to the aesthetics and purposes of advertisement, which today are very invasive. Their impact is detectable at an inner level, and not a mere indicator of a moral (outer) norm. It is indeed unprecedented that such representation is generative of psychological (and, in turn, social) phenomena, performed at such a private and detailed scale.

Conversely, T_O proposes an involved representation of the body, and challenges the spectator to experience and be included in this specific quality of relation. The body here is not kept at a psychological distance by making it aesthetically “correct,” nor by brutalizing it. This welcoming attitude is complicated by moral and representational codes, that emerge anyways. The background itself takes part in this duality, and despite its barren and neutral character, it succeeds nevertheless in becoming a place, surrounding the bodies, like a new type of natural landscape.

T_O was exhibited for the first time at MIA – Milan Image Art Fair, that took place in Milan on May 23-25, 2014. The project was selected by curator Luca Panaro for a special, curated section sponsored by Lavazza, named Lavazza Art Cafe. A dedicated space inside the art fair hosted solo exhibitions by 6 photographers, curated by 3 international curators.

Pizza Box is a special project held by Droste Effect Magazine. The project aims to reflect on the nature and format of magazines’ printed editions, and on the way in which images tell us different stories.

Each Pizza Box is unique, and is curated by an artist, a theorist, a critic, or a curator. Pizza Boxes may present themselves in variable sizes and shapes.

The Pizza Box is at the same time a tribute to Andy Warhol’s time capsule, and a container presenting a timeless dimension. The Pizza Box neither preserves objects of the past, nor reflects on the passage of time. Pizza Boxes are just containers for rough images – the same images we can’t live without.

For The Others contemporary art fair, that took place in Turin on November 6-9, 2014, Droste Effect presented the Pizza Box project with an installation of 11 Pizza Boxes – 8 of which curated by Droste Effect (Vincenzo Estremo, Dania Rotatori, Matilde Soligno), and 3 commissioned to international artists: Sue Lim, Andrei Warren Perkovic, and Massimo Ricciardo.

MIA – Milan Image Art Fair had its first edition in 2011 from an idea by Fabio Castelli. The art fair is based on a unique element of innovation: one stand (and one catalog) for each of the exhibited artists.
MIA was created with the aim of highlighting the transverse role that photography has come to play between different languages in contemporary art.

MIA’s catalogue is conceived in an innovative way, merging technology and ecology needs. Starting from its 2014 edition, the MIA Fair Card + eBook will replace printed catalogs. Visitors will be able to collect MIA Cards at the stands, and download each eBook catalog by scanning the QR code printed on each card (suitable for tablet, smartphone, PC, and Mac).

Special Project: Lavazza Art Cafe – a new curatorial project promoted by Lavazza
MIA’s official partner since its first edition, Lavazza is MIA 2014’s Main Sponsor. A dedicated space inside the art fair will host solo exhibitions showcasing artwork by 6 photographers, presented by 3 international curators.
Lavazza Art Cafe curators and artists are:
Antonio Arévalo (Chile): Ricardo Miguel Hernández, Graziano Folata
Luca Panaro (Italy): Guido Meschiari, Matilde Soligno
Francesco Zanot (Italy): Francesco Neri, The Cool Couple

In 2014, the MIA Fair doubles: the first edition of MIA Fair Singapore will be held in the Southeast Asia capital from October 23 to 26.
