Well I finally got around to doing the fabric water drop tutorial. That was not easy for me. I need a Speedlight the cheap ass flash I have does not help me out much. Although I like two photos I got out of like 50 of them. So here are my pictures. I wish the lighting was better, but it rained her all day and that window does not get much light as is, and with my crappy flash I needed all the help I could get. Sorry for the bad pictures.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Wow is it really Sunday again? Where has this ~~week~~ month gone? I can’t believe it is almost March…This year is going by way too fast…It needs to slow down! Speaking of slowing down so does the week, I need to catch up on a lot of photos!

Needless to say I have a HUGE to do list this week! Lots of maintenance on my sites, lots of cleaning and lots of organizing and also making sure all my back ups are done. Can we petition to get more hours in the day?

On to the Scavenger Hunt:

1. Crossed

I love that I captured these ducks with the necks crossed while eating grass…Who knew ducks ate grass?

This was my glimpse from across the park on a very sunny February day in California.

Not sure what I would do without my calendar…Yes, I have an iPhone but I find the gratification of being able to cross things off my calendar! I like seeing what I have accomplished for the day, week, month! Don’t you like being able to see that?

This is just bliss…A great sunset from a great day…We have not really had any winter weather this season, although I am hoping that March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion. I would really like some more rain to come our way!

5. Gray

This picture is just simply stated. Shows, me one spring is coming and two, I need to mow and kill some weeds.

Doors- {You Captured}

This is an ex school members door in her garden. Her garden is just amazing, she has done such tremendous work on her garden. It is just more than words can explain. I think if I had her green thumb, time and patience I could have an awesome backyard garden too, but I don’t. Although if I get around to it this weekend I will be planting some aloe and spices this weekend, we will see how that goes. For now, here is my door picture.

Ash Wednesday is tomorrow…who is going? I honestly have not been to an ash Wednesday in at least 10 years. I was raised Catholic, (baptized, first communion, last rights and confirmation). Yes, you read right I was given my last rights at the age of 10. I was involved in a nasty accident, I was hit by a car, so I was given my last rights. Funny thing I am still here…If you are reading this and you are not Catholic. Catholics have seven sacraments. The first three sacraments are called the sacraments of initiation, they are Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Baptism removes the guilt and effects of Original Sin. Holy Communion is the reception of Christ’s Body and Blood, that helps us grown in the likeness of Jesus Christ. Confirmation perfects our Baptism and brings up the graces of the Holy Spirit. The next four are Sacrament of Confession, which is where we reconcile to God, where we are not aware of having committed a mortal sin. Next is the Sacrament of Marriage, it is a lifelong union of man and woman (for procreation) and mutual support. ( I am not in favor that it adds you have to procreate). The next is the Sacrament of Holy Orders, no everyone does this since, you will be either a Priest or Nun doing this. Lastly is the anointing of the sick (last rights), where it is administered both to the dying and to those who are gravely ill or will be under going a serious operation, praying for the recovery of their health and spiritual strength. Those are the seven sacraments in a nutshell.

But onto Lent, I can remember as a child growing up that on Friday’s during Lent, we were not allowed to eat meat, so we either had fish or spaghetti with just plain sauce. On Ash Wednesday, we would go to Church and have a priest put ashes on our head in the sign of the cross. I never really understood it until I was older. Although I am still stuck on why we need to give up something we love during Lent.

Again I have not really been to a full fledge Catholic Church mass in over 10 years. I have been to numerous funerals, weddings and baptisms in those ten years, but have not went willingly to a Catholic mass. I have went to Christians services in the last 6 years for Christmas, and some Easters. Other than that. I have my personal prayer time with God. I believe no matter where I am at, what I am doing, when I take time out of my day to think about God and pray to God, he is there for me he is listening.

Lent according to the Catholic Church is the 40 day preparation for Easter Sunday, when Christ rose from the dead. It is a season marked by prayer, fasting and abstinence. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends either on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday. Catholics are suppose to give up something for lent in order to give God more of your attention. In the past I would give up Candy, over the years I don’t eat candy. So what am I suppose to give up now? Do I give up TV, NO! Do I give up the computer, NO (it is my job). Wine, no, it is good for my heart….What will I give up to be closer to God? I am close to God, I talk to him on a daily basis, I pray to him daily, I tell everyone I know that should be in heaven everyday hello. What else do I need to do? Why should I have to give up something to still have the same relationship with God, that I do now? I mean I know I am close to God, he has spared my life three times, during three bad accidents. I am here, I am alive, I am breathing therefore I am close to God. I don’t think I need to personally give up something to have or earn his love. His love in suppose to be unconditional?

I know I am going to get slack from some people, but this is my rationalization, this is how I see things. I don’t want to push my beliefs or ways onto anyone else. This is how I think. I am sorry if it offends you. For this Lent, I am giving up the idea of being perfect. Therefor I do not believe anyone is perfect, only God sees us as perfect, after all we are his children.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Wow! It is Sunday where has this week gone? Not quite sure, but it sure did fly by…I feel like I have accomplished nothing when in fact I did accomplish a lot! Just wish I would have squeezed more picture taking time in…although everything around here looks dead and not picture worthy. We are not working on anything around here anymore and if I actually was a good gardener I would work on our backyard, but I am not…In fact I would rather clean and iron than do gardening!

Oh well on to my interpretation of this weeks hunt.

1. Love

Well you probably saw this picture earlier in the week, if not read here. Amanda gave her family 19 years. I came into Matt’s life too late to get to know his sister…Although I still feel a strong love and bond with her, that I have no idea how to explain. She is loved by all and remembered by many! So this is my interpretation of love.

2. Duplicated

Ok well I cheated. I pulled this from my archives from a couple of years ago….Can you tell me are related? Wait can you tell I am in the middle of twin sisters? Yes, these are my sisters! Love this picture!

3. Trending

Guess I can say I am trending by using Scrabble letters. I love to have scrabble letters these days. I need to find some ways to use them in the upcoming weeks!

4. Paper

Matt received this dragon ornament for Christmas. I love that is made of paper…It is really nice…It looks like the dragon tattoo he had on his arm for receiving his black belt.

5. Plastic

Do not be fooled it may look like stone but it is made of plastic. I love my garden turtles…I need more!!!!

Week full of Dinners

Well I am going to try to start doing this again…going to make a weekly dinner menu and hopefully stick to it. I think it is easier to do this, since I would only like to shop once a week and only do monthly shopping for the big stuff…So here is this weeks dinner items.

Sunday: Glazed pork chops with Cheesy Zucchini.

Monday: Stuffed Green Peppers with a green salad

Tuesday: Blackened Tilapia Baja Tacos with Cilantro Lime Rice

Wednesday: Avocado Chicken Parmigianino with Green Salad and possibly garlic bread

Thursday: BLTa with Sweet potato fries (home recipe) I will ~~write~~ type down for your as soon as I start making it….I always change it as I start making it.

Friday: Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken over brown rice with spicy marinated cucumbers and carrots over greens.

I will hopefully get pictures of every dinner this week, as long as I don’t here hollering saying, “my dinner better not be cold because you are taking pictures of it” lol.

Valentine’s Day still SUCKS!!!!!

In Memory of Amanda Borad….daughter..sister…niece…cousin…loved…cherished…friend…never forgotten…

Well I do believe that Valentine’s day is a very commercialized day. You pay 4 times as much for flowers as you normally would, you get horrible service in restaurants at hiked up prices, and shouldn’t love be shown every day of the year just not more on one day of the year? Well I have always felt this way for year, and for the past five and half years I have had a wonderful boyfriend and I don’t even expect anything more tomorrow than his normal love and himself (well maybe just a card), he knows if he comes home with flowers, they will only die or I will kill them, and I rather cook a nice romantic dinner than go out to one…So rather be at home with the love of my life instead out at some stuffy restaurant where everyone is in a bad mood because they have to work…NO thank you…

And as you know, Valentine’s Day is hard on my boyfriends family anyway. If you didn’t know, read here!

I have two sisters (twins) and if Matt would ever get off his ass, and propose, I would of have had a sister-in-law. Well I will never now. I will have Matt and his family. I will never get to have those siblings in laws I longed for growing up…I was never the little girl who dreamed of the princess wedding I just wanted more siblings! I will never get those! I will have my sisters but no sister-in-law…It is sad to say that but I feel even worse that Matt and his parents had to bury her…way to young…

If you know me or have read anything I have ever said on my blog, then you know I am country lover. Well when I first heard this song, my mind went automatically to thinking of Amanda (Matt’s sister). “If I Die Young,” The Band Perry. It is just a song that fits this situation so well

There is not one story I have ever heard anyone say about Amanda, that is bad. She was very loving, caring and dedicated person. She was the girl that everyone wanted to be. Well someone that night decided her life needed to end, again too young. No matter what state you live in we have all seen the commercials about drinking and driving, we have learned it in school from the moment we hit high school, to NEVER EVER drink and drive and now the commercials have extended to buzzed driving is drunk driving. Yes, it is all the same. Do not drink and drive!

I can’t say I don’t drink, but I know when to call and when to drive…After hearing this great tragedy of a phenomenal girl I have a hard time going out with the girls and to get drunk these days…Either I don’t drive or I drive and stay there…I would never put someone else's life in danger because of my stupidity.

If you knew Amanda you knew love, kindness, grace, stubbornness and a great dancer if you didn’t like me, you missed out on a great friend, companion and sister. Personally I never want to know the pain of burying a child, let alone your only sister. I can only hope you learn from this and never drink and drive or hell flee from a scene that you caused. My heart goes out to the entire Board family that lost their daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, dancer and all around genuine girl. I only wish I could have met her, for now I can only live through the stories I hear about her.

Sorry if this post ruined your Valentine’s Day, but on this Valentine’s Day and many more to come I have only to think of the life I missed, the sister I don’t have, the daughter my boyfriend’s parents are missing and my boyfriend his sister that he grew up with that he no longer has…I can only imagine what he thinks that I still have my sisters and he has none (even though he does have mine) I still know it is not who he grew up with.

So if you are reading this, if you are going out tonight, think before you get in that car, if you have had drinks and if you have no be aware of the idiots out there who have who are still driving!

Today I will go visit a grave instead of a person….This is what I get to see, what about you?

Food Photography-Tutorial Tuesday

Everyone knows I love to cook, especially in my new kitchen. Over the past few months I have been trying to take pictures of all I make. These are the most recent. I really guess I need to invest in white plates, although to me they are really boring for the kitchen and dining room, I like a little color pop. Also I refuse to make three plates to only photograph one and then to take pictures of the other. Then again I guess that could be my left over plate for work in the morning right? Hmmm maybe we will see…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Well most of the day I spent watching the Law and Order marathon, the rest was dedicated to watching the Super Bowl. Yes, I was routing for the New England Patriots, well guess who is a bad loser me! I am super upset that they missed the catch in the last seconds of the game. That would have been a very SWEET ending, but the Giants did play a great game. Good job! We had Matt’s parents over for the Super Bowl, Matt made pork spare ribs, and I BBQ’d chicken, made salsa, baked beans, and corn on the cob. It was a very good day.

I am finally back into the swing of things of getting back into the blogging world. I received a new camera for Christmas and I am finally getting to break it in. I am hoping to make good with my New Year’s Resolution and blogging regularly. Keep your fingers crossed!

Onto the Scavenger hunt.

1. Strike a Pose

We had a bbq a couple of weeks ago. Although for Christmas Matt’s parents and myself bought Matt the Xbox 360 with Kinect. They boys were playing the game Just Dance 2 (I believe), I was snapping pictures while they were doing this. It was quite the entertainment. I finally got around to editing almost three months worth of pictures. This one made the cut. I love the expression on Matt’s face.

2. Footwear

This might be a stretch on footwear. But it is very helpful in keeping my tile floor entry clean. I just bought this right before we had the house appraised. I love my new door matt. I love the colors and the handwriting. So please before you enter my house clean off your footwear on my footwear stopper..LOL!

3. Hobby

As you know I love to take pictures. I find that my hobby. Although I always tend to find myself taking pictures of flowers, so I find both of those my hobby.

4. Shiny

Well this might not be your definition “shiny” but it is mine. Not only is every appliance new and shiny, so is the kitchen. I just finished cleaning it. The countertops are all polished and resealed, the sink is even shiny clean. I love the way stainless steel shines. I just love my new kitchen. I love to cook more now, I love to host more parties and I just love it. Can you tell I love it? LOL…well this is my definition of shiny. My brand new FINISHED “shiny” kitchen.

5. Color Me Green

Again this may be a stretch, but after all this is my blog and my interpretation right? Well Matt built this book case for the house, and it is not quite finished yet. I need to have a bench pad installed, Matt’s mom will be making it. Also where the green wall is framed in by the bookcase, I am going to spell out Borad (Matt’s last name) in pictures. I can’t wait to start doing it. Yes, I will be decorating the shelves more, just have not had time. I just love this color it is called Woodland Mystery by Glidden. Love it!

Tis the time of year I have again taken on one too many projects…We are hosting Christmas at our house, which means we are scrambling to finish tiny little things that never got done and huge ones as well. Why we are also both working full time and doing Christmas shopping and trying to get decorations up, and I am finishing up crafts. Again needlessly to say I took on TOO MUCH!

So I am not taking many pictures these days…But this is what I got so far. ( I still have tons of editing to do from before the holidays started).

1. Less is more:

This may not qualify too much as less, but I still had more up there last year and it looked way too cluttered so I toned it down.

2. Holiday Lights

My dark shots to show off my lights were not working, and I couldn’t find my tripod to help me on this. I will update more once I find the tripod.

3. Ornaments:

This is the first ornament I bought for Matt and mines for Christmas, I am a sucker for snowman, so I had to get this.

4. Cup of Cheer:

My girlfriend Jeri, bought these cups for me, I love them. So my cup of cheer is going into these all season long!

5. Nativity:

I could not find my nativity in my Christmas decorations still looking, so you will have to settle of my Angel. My grandma bought this for me two years before she died. I have had it on my tree for 6 years now, but this year it feels more special being up there for me. I think because it is the first Christmas Matt and I are hosting and I feel like she will be here cooking with me and watching over me.

Can you believe I have been missing for a whole month?

I simply cannot believe it. I feel like have not done anything with my camera lately. I have taken pictures but nothing of what I like to do, and editing well that is another story. I have no time to edit. I need to find more hours in the day to do things.

Well on to the pictures you have all been waiting for.

1. Before and After:

Yes, this photo is a few weeks old. Like I said I have had no time to edit. Although I am still upset with this photo. Matt was ill on the day we carved pumpkins so he stayed home while I went next door to carve. I made a pumpkin with an owl on a branch. Matt makes his pumpkin 5 minutes before trick-o-treaters showed up. The entire night the kids said, “ooooooh look it is an angry bird, but what is that?” Needless to say I was pissed. But still had to get his award winning carving. By the way no stencil totally freehanded.

2. Opposing Lines:

I took this while at our friends daughters band review field show competition. I think that this shows lines well, both the band and colorguard are moving separate ways.

3. Custom Bokeh:

Yes, I cheated, it is just focused on one flower petal, then again, I have had no time this week.

4. Which pair of shoes should I wear:

Little Lauren decided she wanted to be a cow girl for Halloween. I think she totally pulled it off. She modeled her shoes for me for all of one second, but I think the blur in this photo captures her, she is always on the run.

5. Little Features:

A few weeks ago I shot my girl friends engagement party, everyone always gets the brides shoes, but how about the girls engagement shoes, that she wore..I love them…they are Jessica Simpsons!

Tuesday fun….

Yeah, I know I have been missing in action…For good reason though, have a new full time job, working on finishing the house for refi and trying to do craft projects for Christmas…Needless to say makes one person extremely BUSY!!!!

I am going to try to keep on this from now on…but again no promises…especially since I have taken on 5 Christmas crafts. Within the next three weeks I have tons to do…Hope to be able to get it all done.

I use to think of myself as very organized now I only feel a mess. I need to get back on track!

Onto the photo…

This is from my backyard. I took it a few weeks ago, but finally found time to sit down and edit. I just fixed the white balance and then took it over to PSE9 and added a watercolor filter. I keep seeing watercolor paintings I like, so I thought I would try my own. Yeah I think I need to work on this technique a little more, but I do like the character it gave this rose.

Hello everyone who actually reads this or likes looking at my photographs.
I am not missing or sick or injured. I just have not found the time to balance editing, picture taking and working all at the same time. I am trying to get over 300 pictures edited now. I guess having a full time job and a part time job is killing me on time. Something had to give and it was blogging. I am trying to find a balance now on getting it all done. Please bare with me as I am doing this.

Also with the Christmas season approaching I took on many holiday crafts to do for gift giving and decorating my house. I promise to get some things up this week I just don't know what yet. Plus the weather here has either been freezing, raining or HOT! Have to love California right? LOL!

Hope everyone can bare with as I get more organized.

Shoot and Edit: Week 39–Orange- Edited

I don’t have much time today to edit…I am tired…and it has been raining all day…At least I came home to homemade potato soup in the crockpot. I do have to say it was pretty good, although I think the next time I make it, I will add corn and use red potatoes instead, other than that great!

Stand Still Flowers

I can't believe I still have these flowers growing. We thought the bush has died. I was wrong they are still lingering after a hot spell here and no watering for weeks because well with the remodel, flowers forget to get watered, especially when they are in the backyard.

I simply just love how the flower is standing perfectly still even with the wind blowing. What do you think of it?

Shoot and Edit: Week 39 - Orange- SOOC

So I had to steal candy from the office in order to get something orange. I have really nothing in my home that is orange and our orange tree right now has green oranges, because they are not ripe yet. I personally hate candy corn, they just have a disgusting taste to them. (Sorry for anyone who likes them). I took them late last night because I came home from work and made a super duper dinner and then did some house clean up. I had to use ligthing in the house and my flash (I still suck using flash), so I got these. Hopefully I can find something clever to do to them.
