For those of us in any Business, this open Letter from a PROSPECT says it all!

Please read it with an open Mind & Heart!

I’m having a problem and I desperately need your help.

It sucks.

It’s painful.

And it’s filling me with anxiety everyday.

I even feel humiliated on a deep level which is why I don’t really talk about it with anyone.

At night I try to fall asleep and it’s the last thing on my mind. When I wake up in the morning, it’s the first thing on my mind.

The cost is more than I feel I can continue to bear. The price of a solution at this point weighs light compared to the cost of avoidance. I’ve got to remove this pain I’m experiencing.

Can you help me?

All I really care about is can you really solve my problem and deliver me from my pain.

Can you help me get my desired outcome as quickly as possible without a bunch of hoops to jump through and ladders to climb?

Don’t tell me you understand.

All you have to do to prove it is to explain my problem to me better than I can say it to myself.

You won’t have to tell me you understand, I’ll feel understood.

It’s only then that I will consider surrendering to your solution.

Is that too much to ask?

Today we look at Pillar # 4 ‘Having a Fair Compensation Plan that Pays the Average Network Marketer’

For this episode I read an excellent article by my Friends & Mentors Bob & Anna Bassett that explains some vey important points about this often complex Pillar  that you need to be aware of when looking at a company.

When analyzing an MLM compensation plan, there are five key questions to ask.

1.  The 10k Question:  

“How many active people do I need in my downline to generate a walkaway residual income of $10000 per month?”

This is a vital question for you to know how hard you (and your team!) will have to work to reach your financial goals.  The best compensation plan is the one that pays the most money for the least work.  That’s not lazy or greedy – that’s smart.

We have found a huge range of answers to this question, all the way from a ridiculous high of 28000 to the industry average of about 2800, down to a very do-able 400.  The same way you would choose a higher wage for the same job, it makes sense to choose the lowest number of people possible for you to earn $10000 per month.

2.  The Half K (Retention) Question:  

“If I bring $500 in revenue to my company every month, what will I get paid?”

If you worked on straight commission and sold $500 worth of products or services, you’d expect to earn anywhere from 50% ($250) down to about 30% ($150).  If you had some leverage and could be paid on your colleagues’ sales too, you could accept 20%, or about $100 in commissions.  Every experienced commissioned salesperson we’ve spoken to agrees that this is reasonable.

But what happens in network marketing?  When we were with Excel Communications, the answer to this question was NEGATIVE $100!  That meant it was costing us $100 per month to bring $500 in revenue to Excel.  There are still many MLM companies in operation today with this kind of business model.  Beware.

In most companies we’ve analyzed, bringing $500 to the company will bring you zero in commissions.  In some, you’d be lucky to earn $20, or 4% commissions!  A modern streamlined company with low overhead will pay you between $85 and $125.  That’s the kind of commissions you should be looking for.

We also call this the Retention Question, as your main aim should be to get a fair check into the hands of your new partners as quickly as possible.  No pay, no stay.

3.  The Break Even Question:  

“How many customers like myself will I need to have my products paid for?”

This is another retention question.  A terrible company will require 20 customers, and a poor company will require 10.  In a good company, you’ll need 5 customers like yourself, and in a generous, streamlined company, you’ll have your products paid for with just 3 customers like yourself.

Most distributors regard their products as a business expense, and the sooner you have them making a profit, the happier they will be, and the longer they will stay with you.

4.  The How Many Hoops Question:  

“Are there any hidden hoops I must jump through to qualify for my check?”

Read the fine print.  All of it.  The charts and lines and circles always look good at the front of the room, but what matters is what you have to actually do to earn a dime.  We analyzed a company recently that required 24 (!) active (!) front line distributors in order for you to reach the top of the pay plan.  With attrition, that would probably mean having to personally sponsor over 200 people!

Read ALL the fine print, and ask questions of your sponsor, upline, and rep support until you get answers that make sense.  It’s your future, and you deserve to know.

5.  The Build or Recruit Question:  

“Will I be paid for working with my team, or must I constantly be recruiting to earn a check?”

When Excel was going under in 2004, the leaders began to admit that 80% to 90% of their checks came from recruiting bonuses, NOT from residual.  That meant that their businesses had to constantly expand in order for them to maintain their income.  There are many companies that still use this business model, and that’s why we keep harping on it.

Let’s forget the pyramid aspect for a moment and look at what this means to you.  If you must constantly recruit, you have no time to work with your team.  If there’s no money in team building and support, it won’t get done, and you will constantly be replacing distributors as they flounder and fail and flee.  That’s how we spell a-t-t-r-i-t-i-o-n.

Today in this video we are going to discuss the

THIRD Pillar that is essential to  you having success in your Network Marketing Company.

So today the next Pillar is this ” You Must Have a Remarkable Product”

This important Pillar seems like such a common sense fact that we wouldn’t even need to mention it. Wasn’t one of the major reasons we became involved with MLM or Net work Marketing because we were so enamored with the ‘Product’ we were introduced to? Some even feel their products are   the best thing since ‘sliced bread’; & I believe this belief level in your product IS necessary for success in this business.! I think myself, the majority of Products represented by Network Marketers are wonderful products & even better then what you would find at your local Wal Mart.; this fact really goes without saying.

However, when I speak of  a REMARKABLE Product I am also referring to the Quality; meaning for me is this product; your product, VALUE Priced?  Is it a reasonable price? Could you go down to  the GNC store or Wal Mart and find the same product for quite a bit less in price?

A Remarkable, Quality, Product for me MUST actually be better in price & quality then I could get down at the local store even with the consideration of Packaging & shipping included! Do you have such a Product? Please review & research this important concept.

Almost 40 years ago in the early summer of 1972  in between my Junior  and Sophomore years in High School I went down to southern Ohio to My Aunt Lavina’s and Uncle Louie’s farm.   I did this every year from the time I was   the age of  8 till I left home,   spending my summers working on their small 40 acre farm .

This was my parents way of seeing that I learned ‘The Work Ethic’, that in their minds would serve me well in life as I grew into adulthood and established my own successful career. So every summer I labored away from dawn till dusk learning to milk cows, feed chickens and clean their chicken coops, bail hay, slop pigs; and Yeah!! when I became 15 Uncle Louie taught me to drive a Tractor and turned me loose in his fields harvesting crops.  In all those years I spent my summers with my Aunt & Uncle  ‘farming’ I don’t think I ever really enjoyed those arduous tasks or got use to them, however as some have said ‘I would never go through that experience again, HOWEVER I would never trade the experience, for what I learned from it.’   Yes I truly learned what it meant to work hard and see a task through and that  served me well in the corporate world.

Well, Aunt Lavina & Uncle Louie rarely left  that farm, as when you are a small time farmer making your livelihood from your own toil you are at the mercy 24 hours a day  of making sure your farm and all you are responsible for runs smoothly; there is no one else to ‘cover’ for you if you are sick or just need some down time. In the summer of 1972 my Aunt & Uncle had been married 35 years and really wanted to get away to the ‘big city’ for a few days to celebrate their anniversary , and so with that they felt that they could trust me and and my cousin Frank to ‘fill in ‘ for a few days so they could get away.

Suffice it to say Frank and I were Ecstatic at the thought of being ‘in charge’! We worked hard and did our needed chores every day as .  In the late afternoon and early evenings we would hike back 2 miles into a clearing in the woods to a small, serene pond to relax and fish. That summer the fishing was awesome, we caught all kind of trout and Bluegill and ended up eating fish morning noon and night!—Why  we caught so much fish we could not eat them all!  However we hatched a brilliant plan to keep our fish fresh and close so we could easily prepare and eat them at our leisure.

It seems built into the side of the houses foundation  of my Aunt and Uncles house , fully surrounding the house was  a built in Cistern system that had at one time been used for catching rain water for use in cooking, cleaning etc, because in times past water could become in short supply especially in the hot summers. At that time the cistern was no longer used as my Uncle had, had a second well dug on the property. We just brought all our strings of fish to the house, filled the cisterns with water and placed our catch of fish in them thinking they would stay fresh  until we ate them.

Little did we know the cisterns being close to 80 years old were cracked and leaked, no longer able to hold water. My Aunt and Uncle finally returned about 8 days later and my duties returned to what they had been before they left. One day 2-3 days later an awful ‘stinking’ smell seemed to start wafting through the house,,,it became unbearable! My Aunt and Uncle questioned me about it wondering if something had happened while they were away, It was then I told him of mine and Frank’s ‘Fish Story.’

Uncle Louie turned red in the face and I thought his eyes  and glasses were going to explode from his small balding head as he loudly and frantically exclaimed…”Matthew, How could you have done something so stupid!?…why those cisterns have not been used for years and they are rusting and cracking, they do not Hold water any longer!,,,your fish are all dead & stinking!!”

Needless to say Frank and I spent 3 days cleaning out the dead fish and attempting to sanitize the cisterns. Years later the story was still told in laughter at family gatherings and according to Aunt Lavina that ‘Dead Stinking Fish Smell’ did not completely subside for a year.

So what does this have to do with my journey in Network Marketing? Just this, 25 years ago my wife and I sat down with a financial planner , planned investments like IRAS, stocks, 401K’s, and Mutual funds and began to diligently save for the future and retirement. Well the reality is along the way, about 5-6 years ago our investments began to drop like a ROCK!,,,as the worlds economy plunged we lost 30% of our gains. I was devastated It seemed as though all that we had gained in our investments was LEAKING AWAY just like that Leaking Cistern from so many years ago!,,,until I picked myself back up and returned to my Passion of building a Network Marketing business because the fact is with steady and consistent effort I am again building up an income that will sustain us in our retirement . I am confident in 3-5 years I can build a monthly Income that would have taken 30+ years to build with my investments providing the economy had not fallen apart.

Does your Company CEO, Owner, Master Distributor and leadership have REAL time , ‘in the trenches EXPERIENCE’ in Network Marketing; in other words have they ever Built a successful ‘Downline’ bringing in Distributors and retailing product?  If they have no such experience  and have just bought the company, you may have problems; they may not have an understanding of the issues a distributor faces in the field.

The other part of this ‘Pillar’ Is the  Issue of Company Management  ’INTEGRITY’

In the video I go into simple research you can do to find the back round of  your companies leaders.  I also go into buying leads & your companies Policies & Procedures…perhaps there is more to joining the business than meets the eye. “ESTHER 4:14…And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”(New International Version of the Bible)

Today I learned a profound lesson from my 4 year old grand daughter, Jeslyn from her activity of playing with her dolls. Unlike her sister Natalie, Jeslyn can  play contentedly for more than an hour at times with her dolls by herself. She has various Dolls, such as Ken & Barbie, Dora the Explorer, & ‘Tangled’ from Ruppunzel fame.

She begins by placing them on a little play table her & Natalie use for their various activities. She begins by placing all the dozen or so dolls on the table along with  their various outfits and other objects. Jeslyn calls this ‘Jeslyn’s Table’ because she tells me this is where she plans out her different stories; like who will be in the story and the different outfits  she will dress the dolls in.She then dresses them in  clothes for particular parts of her story. Each doll comes from the table and usually enters the Doll house the girls have, and also each doll then goes back on the table as they leave a certain scene or their time of being in the story is completed. So each Doll always starts out on or ends up on ‘Jeslyn’s Table’.

This morning she was up early  before Pre School and had some time to play with her dolls. We then had to leave an hour or so later to take her to her school. On the way she asked me this question , ‘Grandpa, does God have a Table?’ At first I was taken by surprise as my mind was on other things, and I did not understand what she was referring to, But then it hit me, she was speaking about her ‘Doll Table’!As we talked  further I understood what she meant, She wanted to know If God had a table that he assembled people on ; created them on, and then placed them on the earth, just as she placed dolls in her story.

Wow, I thought, what a simple and profound way  to think of our lives! In a sense we all come from ‘God’s Table’, we have been created in a unique and special way. There is no one who looks like us, thinks like us, talks like us Or has the Individual Gifts or Talents God(ie. The Infinite Intelligence, The Infinite Creator) has bestowed upon us! As my Grandpa once told me ‘When they made you they broke the Mold!’

The other powerful thought that hit me, was that we were created for a certain time or season. We were created to LIVE OUR STORY NOW! God has taken us off His creation table and placed us in this life for a particular Purpose and Reason, to Live out our own UNIQUE STORY in the time period we are now In!

Just as Jeslyn has a plan and role for each of her Dolls to live out a certain story I believe God has a Plan & purpose for each of us to live and achieve meaningful  and fulfilling goals in our lives; IN OUR STORY.

Over 2,500 years ago another  story, of a   woman  was played out on the stage of life.Her name was Esther, she was a beautiful young Jewish woman who at the time became queen of Babylon  as the nation of Judah was under the ruler ship of Babylon. The Babylonian King had chosen her to become one of his wives. In the story there is a plot hatched against  the Jewish nation in an attempt by an evil man named Haman to get the King to eradicate the entire Jewish race. Esther’s Uncle Mordechai, steps  forward  and implores that Esther must go before the King to intercede on behalf of Judah . In that time and culture it was rarely if ever the place of a woman to do such a thing, in fact Esther’s own life may have been taken by the King due to what many considered a rebellious act. This is when The famous words by Mordechai were uttered “Perhaps, Esther you were created for such a time as this!” So, Esther was faced with a grave choice, which I am sure caused her much fear and trembling. Should she hold back in fear, say nothing and certainly  continue to enjoy the lavish life of a Queen, or  confront the King and perhaps face serious consequences and even death? Esther made her decision to face the King and confront the crisis. The plot was thwarted and Haman was put to death.Esther was greatly honored by Judah , respected and loved  even more by the King and lived Happily until the end of her life.

In conclusion we each have a Unique and beautiful STORY that we have been placed on this sphere to Live out, with all our Gifts, Talents, and Potential ; no one else can live OUR STORY FOR US! Though we may not face a serious problem that could result in the loss of our life as Esther, we each face the challenge of Living , which is a serious matter, in and of itself. We like Esther must KNOW ‘We were created for SUCH A TIME AS this’, and choose to overcome all fears that would hold us back from the Story we have been called upon from the Table to Live.
