The warming glow of a West Maui sunset paints it’s beauty against a well-known Ka’anapali resort.

Today’s featured postcard of the Sheraton Maui Resort at dusk was also featured as the Daily Maui Photo yesterday as well.

You may remember me writing about enjoying the views of Maui’s coastline from out on the water with this postcard image, and this is just more evidence of that.

Rooms with a View

Aside from being a beautiful sight at sunset, those ocean facing rooms are also special to my wife and I because that’s where we stayed on our first of many trips to Maui, and where we fell in love with the island immediately.

In fact, the first photo I ever took of Maui was from the lanai of one of those rooms in this photo.

So I guess it might not be that much of a stretch to say had we not stayed in an ocean front room that first trip, none of what you’re reading now would exist today.

Okay, that’s a stretch. I don’t want to imply you need an ocean front room to fall in love with Maui – all it takes is one sunset…

Enjoy the week everyone,
– Kris

Aloha Maui fans!

Some of you may have already noticed that an updated version of the Maui Postcards App popped up in the App Store earlier this week.

This is a very minor update for some of the Menu settings within the App, particularly the Share App option and some of the social media links.

See the list of updates on our Version History page.

Version 1.1 Sneak Peek

Despite this first minor update, rest assured the development of new and exciting features are already under way.

As a quick preview of what I’m working on next, there’s going to be new integration between the App and this website. You will soon be able to share individual postcard images on Facebook and Twitter, and even send emails to friends for your favorite images, even if they’re not yet using out App.

It’s not meant to replace the actual print version of the postcard, however. That would take all the fun and joy of your friends and family opening their mailbox, seeing the beauty of Maui you shared with them, and sticking that postcard somewhere that they’ll frequently see it and smile every time they do.

Stay tuned for more news on those new features, and in the meantime, keep Sharing the Magic of Maui!

– Kris

A hidden waterfall in the West Maui Mountains are a must see for yourself.

Although one of the more expensive things to do on Maui, being able to see the island from above and getting to visit places otherwise inaccessible by other means is something I wish everyone would be able to enjoy at least once.

Personally, I know I am very blessed to be able to have been on multiple such journeys, enough so that I put together an entire eBook edition in my Maui by Poster series showcasing just my aerial images above Maui.

And in addition to the free eBook, you can also find many of those same images available in our Maui Postcards App in the Aerial category.

Poster Designs

The aerial association aside, today’s featured postcard comes from the Posters category in our App, and you probably have noticed a few things different with this one compared to the previous postcards we’ve featured so far.

First, well, it’s vertical (or portrait) while conventional wisdom tells us that standard postcards are oriented in a horizontal fashion – a la postal mail style.

The second is that it features text while other categories are just the beauty of Maui in all her glory.

Well, these images are from that same Maui by Poster eBook Series I just mentioned above – coming instead from the initial edition in the series.

More Posters

And if you’d like a poster for yourself, don’t miss the Order Prints page and put some Aloha on your wall!

Have a great weekend, and see you back here soon for another featured postcard.

Picturesque waves washing ashore on the golden sands of Kamaole Beach Park III in Kihei.

While maybe not as flashy as the resort areas of Kapalua, Ka’anapali, or Wailea, the string of Kamaole Beach Parks in Kihei are almost like hidden treasures in plain sight.

After all, the Maui residents that I have met over the years that live (or have lived) in Kihei truly enjoy having these beaches right outside their front door. Hey, wouldn’t you?

If this postcard has you reminiscing of vacations spent beach hopping in South Maui, find this and other sandy photos featured in the Beaches section of our Maui Postcards App.

Even if you’re not on vacation or couldn’t make it to Maui this year, why not send yourself a little “just because” postcard for your refrigerator in the kitchen or desk at work, and enjoy a little of the Aloha Spirit each time you see it.

Boats peacefully awaiting the day’s visitors in the calm waters of Lahaina Harbor.

We talked last week about the stunning views of the Maui coastline and mountain ranges from out on the water. Well, today’s featured postcard gives us a glimpse of where some of those adventures begin.

Not all boat excursions that depart from the West Maui coast begin in Lahaina Harbor. Some board right on Ka’anapali Beach in front of Whalers Village, while others in Ma’alaea Harbor, closer to Kahului.

But if you do happen to be boarding in Historic Lahaina Town, what may at times look like a chaotic group of tourist boat companies can actually be a lovely sight if your timing is right.

This Postcard

The photo for this postcard was actually taken earlier in the morning, as my wife and I waited for an 8:30am whale watching excursion. With not many operators open for business at that time of the day, it made for a great chance to take the camera out on the boardwalk of the pier and snap a few photos.

Does this postcard bring back memories of your favorite sail out of Lahaina Harbor? Be sure to check out this photo and a few others featured in the Lahaina section of our Maui Postcards App.

I know it’s one of the smaller categories at the moment, but I hope to be adding more photos from Lahaina soon.

Also, stay tuned to this blog for more featured postcards and follow along on Twitter at @MauiPostcards for more magic Maui!
