Unlike most other Maui sites that are created by tourist committees and visitor societies, or by companies that want to make money off the Maui name, MAUIPEOPLE.com is an incredibly candid profile of Maui and it's people. Like all places, Maui has good and bad things. There are many people over here in Hawaii that have an agenda to keep Hawaii in the minds of the word as nothing but an incredible, pristine, paradise with gorgeous Island babes walking around in grass skirts and flower leis around their neck. Hawaii is a profoundly beautiful place that desperately needs people all over the world to become aware of its problems as well as it's inner dynamics'. While Maui and all the Hawaiian Islands remain a premier destination for travelers all over the world, It's that very thing that stands to ruin this ancient place. Tourism and the money it brings to our communities has a staggering grip on intellectual development. The employment opportunities for talented people here are very grim! Many work two tourism based jobs on different sides of the island to simply make enough to live here. For people who have made a decision to move to Maui from some other mainland destination, living this way is only a small difference from the lives they knew on the mainland. For local people that are born and raised here, it creates a desperate cycle of dead end jobs and expensive commuting.

The Goal of MauiPeople.com is to create a platform for the voice of Maui People. We will examine everything that goes on in Maui. Not just the HUGE wonderful things the tourism machine wants you all to see and hear. From local Maui natives to visiting tourists from Japan or Chicago, We are all MAUI PEOPLE. We actively seek out the opinion's of all People in Maui. We want to know about that road that never gets fixed in Haiku or simply how amazing your hotel room is. How about an inspirational story on the legend of the Maui Turtles, or a rant about how your rental car was broken into. These are the stories of Maui People, the good the bad and the unbelievable. No watered down BS about the sensational helicopter rides over scenic valleys. More like....Hear about the dreadful helicopters that plague the Air space of all the Hawaiian Islands. No matter who you are, a local in the jungle, or a tourist at your hotel, you will see and hear helicopters above your head, all day everyday, EVEYWHERE, until you have an uncontrollable loathing for them. From military ones to ones with tourists loaded in, this is the ISLANDS of helicopters. How about the sweet old lady that got knocked off her spooked horse and was killed because helicopters flew down on her property searching for Pot!!
