Windows 9: Expected to release by April 2015!

Microsoft might include an update to Windows 8.1 as well as Windows Phone 8.1 by April 2014.

April 2014 Will Mark The Arrival Of The New Samsung Galaxy S5!

Bloomberg says that Samsung Electronics Co. will release its Samsung Galaxy S5 by this April.

Samsung is currently working on a biometric eye scanner technology as seen in Sci-fi films so as to compete with Apple Inc. iPhones.

This April will also mark the introduction of a wearable device along the Samsung Galaxy S5. The wearable device will be an evolution of the Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch.

CES 2014 Broke Record As Largest Show To Date!

For those who doesn't know what "CES" stands for, it means "Consumer Electronics Show".

It is one of the largest electronics show on the planet where reputed brands of gadgets are exposed to the public.

The Show is organised by "Consumer Electronics Association" based at Las Vegas.

This year's show was the largest one in its history. The association claimed that the show hosted presentations of 3,200 exhibitors.

This year, the show attracted a large number of celebrities including the poor public speaker, Michael Bay.

Wearable devices and 4k Smart Televisions were the major trends this year at CES.

Curved and flexible Ultra HD Televisions, next-gen smartphones, drones, robots, sensors, Internet Of Everything, High resolution audio, connected cars, and 3D Printers.

Nokia Lumia 1020: The 41-Megapixels Camera Smartphone Unveiled

The most awaited Nokia Smartphone is finally here! Yes, its the Nokia Lumia 1020.

The phone is based on Windows Phone platform and it boast about a 41-Megapixel camera.

If you have an iPhone and you want better pictures, then I have a good news for you. Take a look at this telephoto lens released for iPhones by Olloclip.com

For now, it is only available to AT&T Network Provider in the United States and it'll hit the shelves as from 26th of July.

The camera of the Nokia Lumia 1020 can capture 41-Megapixel (41000 Pixels) images either in 3:2 or 16:9 ratio aspect. When capturing images, it simultaneously create another 5-Megapixel image for sharing purposes.

Similar to the Nokia Lumia 920, this phone's camera has an optical image stabilisation. This means when you're recording a video and the phone shakes a lot due to movements, the phone will automatically make the video stable. This feature had already been introduced by Apple.Inc. Anyway, this will do good to Nokia's image.

Compared to the other Lumias models, this one incorporates a XENON FLASH which is far more better than the LED FLASH as it helps to capture sharp images in poor lighting conditions (with good colour accuracy).

The tagline for this Nokia Smartphone is "Zoom.Reinvented". Despite this, the phone does not have an optical zoom but the 41-Megapixel sensor let us zoom significantly while maintaining picture quality.

Facebook Launches Its Upgraded "Graph Search" Search Engine

Facebook already announced this on January 2013 and baptised it as "Graph Search".

It's been only a few days that they released new smileys (called Stickers) for their chatbox.

This new search engine enables you to search people, places, photos and interests using Facebook's social graph.

You'll be able to ask it questions like you often ask on Google. For example, you could ask "Which of my friends live in Mauritius?".

Microsoft Bing search engine is also integrated with Facebook's search engine, which means it will search on the web if it doesn't find anything useful for you on Facebook. I think that this is the most fascinating thing for a social networking site like Facebook!

Facebook boasts that the search engine is faster and user-friendly. The search engine also delivers the nearest relevant search results than the one we are using currently.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing it on any Mauritian accounts. We must wait for a day or two before we start seeing it. Before that, you must set your Facebook account language to "U.S. English". To do that, simply go to Account Settings>>>Language, and then change it.

Concerning the mobile version of the "Graph Search", it is not yet available but Facebook is doing its best to launch it as soon as possible.

I'm pretty impatient about this new search engine and I want to see it in action . Keep in touch as we'll have a detailed post about it when it rolls out on all accounts.

Facebook Smileys-Facebook Rolls Out New Ones!

2013 has been a great year for Facebookers. First there was the introduction of a new timeline and now in this month, the introduction of new smileys ("Stickers" in Facebook Jargon).

In the coming days, they'll also roll out the Graph Search feature.

For many years, Facebook sticked to the same smileys. Instead of replacing the old smileys, they added new ones. One is called "Meep" and the other is "Pusheen".

Moreover, they added a new button called "Sticker Store". The purpose of the store is to add packs of "Stickers" to your chatbox.

They indeed have cool packs of "Stickers" there!

One drawback though! Facebook forgot to put a "Remove" button to remove unwanted packs! I don't have any updates from Facebook on this issue at this moment but I'll update you as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, they do have a "Preview" button on the store. So, use it and make a careful decision before adding it to your chatbox!

2 Easiest Ways To Add Any Folder To Any Windows OS Start Menu!

Do you have a favourite folder on your computer or laptop? Oh! What a silly question! I bet that everyone (including me) do have one.

Unfortunately, most of us, have the tendency to put every folders in “My Documents” folder (Windows XP) or “Documents” folder (Windows 7), piling it up.

When there’s too many folders in the above-mentioned places and we need a specific one among them, then we have to keep scrolling and scrolling and scrolling…. Till we find it.

Imagine yourself searching for an important folder in a rush hour. Isn’t it stressful? And by the way, who wants to live a stressful life?

I bet no one!

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have a shortcut of these folders, somewhere?

Don’t despair! Because I’ve found 2 awesome way (by experimenting) through which we can add a shortcut to these so-called “important” or “favourite” folders to the "Start Menu".

Putting these folders on the “Start Menu” means quick access. Isn’t this amazing?

Till now you’ve only learnt about creating shortcuts of software installed on your computer or laptop. Now you’ll be learning to create shortcuts of folders.

Ready? Let us go through the steps together!

Note: The following steps will be the same for Windows XP.

1st Way (Easiest One)

1. You have to locate for the folder you need. To do that, follow the screenshot below. In my case, I’m locating a folder named “BOSHM Resources” which contains my university notes. It is located in “My Documents” folder on my laptop.

2. I’ve now located the folder.

3. Now, I’ll have to Drag & Drop it onto the Start Menu. If you don’t know how to Drag & Drop, then all you have to do is to click the folder once and hold the mouse button. Then Drag it to the “Start” button. Wait for the “Start Menu” to appear.

And…..the picture below is self-explanatory.

4. After I dragged the folder on the “Start Menu”, there’ll be a thin black line (as demonstrated below). This determines where the folder will be placed. In my case, it’ll be placed under the “Snagit 11 Editor” shortcut.

Oops…my bad !….The word “Snagit 11 Editor” has been cropped to only “Snagit” in the callout. Never mind! I explained it.

5. There you are! The folder is placed on the “Start Menu”! Mission Successful!

2nd Way (Technical One)

This way will show you how to make the “Pin To Start Menu” option to appear not just for programs but also for every folders that exist on your computer or laptop.

You are now going to deal with Windows Registry. This is the most sensible part in your computer’s or laptop’s Operating System. It stores every bits of information that Windows needs to keep your machine functioning.

It needs only one critical error to make your Windows crash, and to some extent, loss of important data. This is why regular back-ups are needed.

Ready? Let’s go.

1. First, you have to download our Registry File. To do so, click the button below to go to the link and click on the “DOWNLOAD (276 B)” button. I recommend saving the file to your desktop!

2. Right-click on the Registry File and select “Merge” option.

3. After clicking on the “Merge” option. The following “Security Warning” window will open. Just click on the “Run” button.

4. After clicking on the “Run” button, the “User Account Control” prompt window will appear. Just click on the “Yes” button.

5. After clicking on the “Yes” button, the “Registry Editor” prompt window will open. Just click on the “Yes” button.

6. After clicking on the “Yes” button, the following “Registry Editor” window will appear. Just click “OK”.

You’ve successfully added our registry key to your computer registry database!

7. Now, let us test it. Press and hold the Shift button on your keyboard and right-

click any folder that you want to pin to start menu and you’ll see the option on the Start Menu!

WARNINGS!

Never play with it for whatsoever reason. This is the work of a Technician or Engineer.
I won’t be held responsible for any damage done to your machine (sorry for that) because I’m only imparting the knowledge which I’ve gained from experimenting.
When doing any tweaks with Windows Registry (for which we’ve provided a tutorial), please follow every steps carefully because if you miss one, it’ll cause an error. This is Crucial.
If you don't know what the Windows Registry does exactly, then refrain yourself from making changes to it.

TIPS!

Always make a backup whenever you're modifying something in any Operating System.

Hello Friends. I hope you are all well and enjoying a good health. I've not posted on this blog for a long time because of University responsibilities. Exams is on (and will nearly finish by next week) and I've to prepare hard. So, I'll not be posting frequently. Sorry for that.

I did this because every time when things will be changed, I'll have to write a long article (which you'd never have time to read) about the changes. So to know what is happening to the blog, I just moved it to a single page where the date and the things changed will be posted.

The web is becoming more interesting, modern and fun with ample number of websites and tools available to us today.

I'm sure that you must have heard about HTML(HyperText Markup Language). If you didn't heard about it. I'll explain it to you. Every websites you visit, there's some codes running behind it. These codes are what we call "HTML". It's in fact a very simple programming language to learn.

In year 2008, the 5th version was published but it raised more questions than it answered. This version of the language is lightweight and many interesting things can be developed with it. Websites and blogs can become more sophisticated as well as beautiful.

SymCAT-Web App To Diagnose Diseases

Nowadays, people are becoming more and more vulnerable to illnesses.

Infographic: How To Spot An Instagram Junkie (Addict)?

Instagram is one of the most used free photo-sharing mobile software the world. It was recently acquired by Facebook for $1 billion. The application was initially released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in April 2012. Then, its Android version was released because Android is the most used mobile operating system in the world.

Instagram is an addictive, creative, and fun way to share your life photos online. Many people keep their phone at eye level constantly so as to be able to take pictures of meals, pets, nature and so on. I might be one of you, who, while taking photos in any situation, ran into a car (but miraculously saved!) or a wall. I'm too far from being a professional photographer.

To tell you the truth, I did not understand the title of the infographic when I looked at the title for the first time. The next step I took is to research the word "junkie" (I know the word "Junk"). When researching , I found that the word "Junkie" means a person who is an addict of something.

This infographic shows you the signs of a die-hard Instagram addict. Take a look at it and you'll know what I mean :)

Unfurlr-Online Tool To Find Original URL Hiding Behind Short URLs

I'm sure you may have encountered this problem in at least once.

Are you wondering what is it? I'm talking about malicious links!

When you surf the web, you often encounter links that are cloaked. That is, the link is usually hidden by a short link. For example, a long link like the one below:

http://mauritiantechie.blogspot.com/2012/07/bounceapp-online-tool-to-capture-full.html

may be hidden by a shorter link like the one below:

http://t.co/wMskvYex

You often hesitate to click these types of links because you don't know what is behind the link, you don't know if the link is sending us to a malicious/hacker website.

Most of the time, we are in front of our computer screen and visiting different kinds of websites.
