Can’t Ride or Don’t Ride~head over to Scholz Garten beginning at Noon for the Concert portion.  We have a ton of amazing items donated by our incredible Sponsors for the Silent Auction and to give away as Door Prizes!  Natural Causes Band will be on hand cranking out the tunes while we wait for the bikes to roll back in.

Max Harrison was a man who fought two wars during his short thirty-six years of life.  First, he served in the Army and was deployed to Desert Storm.  The second battle he fought began at the age of thirty-two when he received the news that he had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

From the moment he was diagnosed, Max vowed to educate and raise funds for ALS research and patient services.

He lost his battle with ALS in November of 2006 but with our help his legacy will live on across theU.S.A.

ALL BIKES WELCOME

Staging will begin at 9 a.m.at Cowboy Harley Davidson of Austin/Buell. Opening ceremonies will start at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registered riders are eligible to ride with the Police Escort donated by Cowboy Harley Davidson.  First bike out will be at 11:00 a.m.   The ride will continue through the beautiful Texas Hill Country and will conclude at Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto-Austin, Texas. 

A family friendly benefit concert featuring the band Natural Causes will be waiting for the riders at Scholz Garten when they roll in or will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Come out to Cowboy Harley Davidson early and join us for a SALUTE to all of our Military, Persons Fighting ALS, Families, Caregivers & for those Loved Ones who are no longer with us.

Proceeds from the event will benefit ALS Research and Patient Services locally.

To have ALS-“Lou Gehrigs Disease” is to know that nerve by nerve, your body will slowly shut down…taking away the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe.

The devastation of ALS also spreads to families and friends who helplessly watch loved ones struggle against the progression of this disease.

That’s one of the reasons why the Max’s Ride is so important to patients in our community who are suffering from ALS.

This year Max’s Ride was able to provide sponsorship for a “Care for the Caregiver” seminar and provide funding to allow additional persons to travel to Washington D.C for National ALS Advocacy Day.

Our fight to strike out “The Beast” of ALS is far from over but we will continue the battle in honor and in memory of those who are no longer able.

Max’s Ride VI~April 21, 2012

which can be also be viewed on our website at www.alsa.org and on our YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/thealsassociation, highlights the research which has found that our military heroes are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general public. The video is part of a nationwide awareness campaign that The Association has launched in advance of Veterans Day on November 11.
Additional videos will be released in the coming weeks and The Association will conduct other awareness and outreach activities that draw attention and support to our cause.
