I am finally back to blogging, with my beautiful new layout from Beautiful Dawn Designs.

My focus is shifting a bit and each week I am going to be posting some great finds/drool-worthy items from around the web for my readers to enjoy.

This week's focus is on the beginnings of Autumn and staying nice and cozy for the cool weather that's on our way. Outside right now the wind is whipping and grey clouds are forming - and all I want to do is stay inside and cuddle up with laptop!

What is the weather like right now where you are? Is it still summer, or has autumn began to creep in?

this adorable crochet apple cozy makes me want to go out and buy fresh produce to show off at work!

i love the colors of this vintage dress! Pair it with a sweet cardigan and some fun tights!

how great is this personalized makeup bag? It'd make a great pouch to throw in your purse to help stay organized.

how adorable are these wall decals? and they're reusable!

this fall themed photography prop background is too cool for words!

Now Introducing Maybe Sparrow Gifts!

2012-02-16T01:30:00.000-06:00

Finally carved out some time to post for y'all, I had surgery today and I was hallucinating while sedated about listing on Etsy. How sad that Etsy is what I dream about, haha! Anyway, I have opened up a second shop on Etsy for my jewelry, printable cards, greeting cards, and onesies. I will be transitioning more items from the first store to the second, but so far I'm getting some good responses and views :) I've just created two new lovely Save the Date cards, and will be experimenting much more with Illustrator and actually designing my own cards this year.

Please go check out my new shop, Maybe Sparrow Gifts, on Etsy!

And as always, thanks for everyone's continued support for my work!

Shameless Plug

2012-02-08T21:47:00.000-06:00

In an effort to try and earn some extra cash due to the looming demise of my current nursing job, I have entered a few of my designs to Threadless for their t-shirt submission contest. It would be SO greatly appreciated if any and all of you would go and show my submissions some love to help them get chosen to be printed! Simply click on the links below and be sure to give my designs a "5" along with clicking the "Notify Me" button when the shirt becomes available. This will help me out big time!! Many thanks in advance :) I would be nothing without all of you, seriously!

New Adventures in Maybe Sparrow Land

2012-02-06T04:45:00.002-06:00

Because I can never have a dull moment in my life and constantly have to be working on something new, I have now expanded Maybe Sparrow's Place on Etsy to selling clothing and jewelry as well. For now, the clothing consists of Onesies with my Artwork... check it out here.

The jewelry is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, and is quite experimental at this stage. I find it very therapeutic, so even if I don't sell anything I enjoy making it and I'll just wear it myself ;) The competition for jewelry sellers is very tough on Etsy... there are just so many people selling such wonderful things. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Overall my shop has been doing great for the new year- almost 50 sales already and we're not even halfway through February! And I sold my first 20x30 size photograph to a very lovely lady in France a few days ago which is very exciting for me. I love the idea that my art will be hanging halfway across the world!

If you have time, please go check out my Zazzle shop, I've posted a LOT of new products lately with my artwork on it- iPad sleeves, clothing, messenger bags, iPhone cases, etc! Some really pretty stuff.

Vintage Prints

2012-02-01T12:59:00.001-06:00

I got this great clipart recently from Madame Bricolage and have

made some new prints from my purchase.

I've had a lot of fun coloring and playing around with the vintage clipart,

and hope to have more to show you all soon!

I'm Sorry, So Sorry...

I've been a bad blogger lately. I'm the first to admit that blogging is a bit of a chore, and the past few times I've tried to blog for some reason it will not let me publish my posts so instead of trying to fix the issue I just give up. BUT no more! I'm back at it, readers!

I have been busy trying to make and create lots of Valentines items for my shops over the past few weeks.

This photograph has been getting a lot of love (har, har) on Etsy lately;

I love the pastels and softness in this one.

My new favorite products I've created this week are these messenger bags

with my photos on them from Zazzle.

Finally, this sweatshirt won Zazzle's "TBA" award last week for best new design. Please go check out my stuff and show them some love, I'd greatly appreciate some viewership to my new site on Zazzle!
If you have a Zazzle site, post it in the comment section so I can check it out as well.

Well, I'm off to make some greeting cards and get my creativity on in my new office/crafting area.
I hope everyone is having a lovely Monday morning!

Sweet Vintage Valentine's Cards for You!

2012-01-19T22:27:00.001-06:00

I have been making a new series of greeting cards that are available for digital download through my Etsy website. They are vintage style, super romantic and sweet! Take a look below at a few of them and let me know what you think! I've been dipping a bit back into my graphic design roots (I spent a few semesters in art school back in the day), but I've been keeping it very minimal.

Hope you all enjoy these and have a good night!

NOTE: All above images are Copyright Maybe Sparrow Photography 2012.
They are digitally watermarked so don't even try to steal them!

Check out my new products on Society 6! I am selling prints and canvases, but what I'm most excited about is the phone and computer accessories. Check out how cute they are here!

Rocky Mountain High

2012-01-17T11:40:00.001-06:00

I'm blogging this morning from beautiful Telluride, CO. As you can see, I'm playing around with a new blog design. I'm slightly technically challenged when it comes to these things, but I'm trying to figure it all out and have a beautiful blog like so many of you do! I'm about to go hit the slopes, but I thought I'd stop in first and say good morning to everyone, and post a few personal photos from the other day when my honey and I were at the carnival at the stock show. These are just a few fun photos I wanted to share with you all. Hopefully I'll have some winter wonderland photographs later today... I'm going to bring my equipment with me snowboarding, although I'm a little anxious to be bringing such expensive camera equipment with me when there's a potential for crashing on the mountain! Let's hope that doesn't happen. I'll keep you all posted. Until then, hope everyone has a lovely day.

This last photo is of a one day old baby goat and it's mama - how precious is that?

Let's Go for a Ride!

2012-01-15T20:03:00.001-06:00

I went to the Fort Worth Stock Show today, as I stated in my earlier post, and it was pretty fun. I hadn't been since I was a kid. There was lots of livestock to look at and take photos of, greasy food to eat, and a big carnival to play around in. I've only edited a few photos so far, but I'm really happy with how they've turned out. It was a gorgeous, warm day with beautiful cotton candy clouds in the sky. Check out my photos and let me know what you think!

Treasuries Galore!

2012-01-15T07:38:00.000-06:00

I am very lucky to be featured in a slew of treasuries on Etsy every day. I thought I'd take the time to give some of these treasuries some love, and also post my latest treasury which has --almost-- 300 views so far! Show all these treasuries some love, and post your own treasuries in the comment sections below! Thanks and Happy Sunday!

January Means Rodeo Month in Texas...

2012-01-13T21:24:00.000-06:00

...which is just another excuse for me to photograph carnival rides. Yay! I have been jonesing for a carnival shoot ever since my last one in October. I snuck into the parking lot of the Fort Worth Stockshow and Rodeo when they were setting up Wednesday, set up my tripod, and snapped away at the empty but glorious rides. Here are a few results so far:

This coming Monday, my family is going on our annual ski trip to Telluride. I hope to come back with some amazing winter shots for you all.

Happy Friday to everyone!

My Texas roots are bursting at the seams this morning, so I created this little number...

Also made a new treasury list of some of my favorite kraft items from Etsy. Check it out!

Finally, here are two more new photos I edited last night. One fun, one romantic. Enjoy!

Been on Death's Door

2012-01-08T21:08:00.000-06:00

It may seem that I've been MIA for a few days... and I apologize for that! It would seem that the little guy I work with (he's 14 months old) gave me a touch of the bronchitis and walking pneumonia. So it has not been a fun week for me. But I am on the mend after much rest, a bottle of antibiotics, and two inhalers from the ole Dr.

I did manage to leave the house today and go see Hugo, which was probably one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.

I have been meaning to read the book for ages but never got around to it. I don't know how good the book is, but I highly recommend the movie. It was incredibly sweet, romantic, funny, sad... just right up my alley. Oh, and it was set in Paris and one of the characters was based off George Melies, one of the first filmmakers (who made "A Trip to the Moon").

And how adorable and gorgeous are these children that star in the movie? They were just great.

Anyway... I did manage to create a few new things while I've been sick.

I made a new 2012 Carnival themed calendar, which you can purchase here.

Edited a new photograph of a bicyclist on the Brooklyn Bridge wearing a santa hat, available here.

This one was taken back during the Balloon Festival during sunset - I just love the colors. Available here.

Lastly, I have some very exciting news! I've been approached by a specialty wholesale company who wants to print my artwork on wood and sell to retailers online and in stores. It's all very preliminary at this point, but hopefully you'll be seeing my artwork in more placer soon and I will gain more exposure.

Thanks for your support thus far in my exciting journey, it's all up hill from here!

Bloggin' into the New Year

2012-01-01T22:33:00.001-06:00

I've had quite the weekend, but I thought I'd take a few moments to give you all a little update and show off some new photos. I was finally featured on the front page of Etsy on Friday, yay! It was amazing to see the views and hearts roll in. Even though it's after Christmas, people are still digging my christmas lights photo. So thank you!

I had my first trade days show this weekend, which was... interesting. It was a very good learning experience, but I do not think I'll be going back to that venue. There was very little art there and people seemed to be doing lots of looking but no buying. Also, it was WINDY! Things kept flying away and it was a constant struggle to keep all my art from disappearing. I'll post pictures soon, at the very least I enjoyed putting up my tent and seeing all my artwork together.

For now, here are two new photographs...

can you tell I'm already getting into the Valentine's Day spirit?

P.S. - the winner of my giveaway will be announced at Midnight (Central time)... only a few hours left to win!!!

my little vintage creatures

2011-12-27T12:09:00.001-06:00

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I received these adorable vintage cake toppers/plastic toys from a fellow Etsyer. I've been having a little fun playing around with them and finding ways to photograph the little creatures. Here are a few photos from today, I hope you enjoy them and as always I'd love any feedback!

Some pretty things to look at before bedtime.

2011-12-26T21:03:00.004-06:00

New photos are up, and it's T-minus 6 days until my first ever craft fair. I have been working really hard to get everything set up - WOW! It is expensive and time consuming. But I think it will be well worth it.

I wish you a Merry Christmas!

2011-12-25T20:01:00.000-06:00

Merry Christmas to all!

I hope everyone is stuffed full of goodies and gave/received everything their little hearts desired this holiday.

I received some very lovely presents, including some great photography accessories. I finally got my hands on a macro lens, here are a few photos I've taken this afternoon with my new goodies from this adorable shop, Socials, that sells vintage cake decorations.

Much more to come later I'm sure!

Greeting Cards

2011-12-24T21:40:00.000-06:00

Updated cards!! I hope these are a little more eye catching.

Worked very hard on them all day, and they're now up for sale on my Etsy shop.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas Eve so far with friends, family, loved ones!

Better go to bed early so Santa can come :)

First Mondays

2011-12-24T03:06:00.001-06:00

So next weekend I am going to be participating in First Monday, and it will be my very first craft show with my photography! It has already been a little overwhelming and there are so many things on my to do list. The main stressor for me is the setup. But I have been getting some good ideas online, and have come up with some cute ways to display my photos. Here are a few things I've purchased so far:

This is a cool antique file board that i'll display my postcards and smaller prints on.

It came from Cheryl's Etsy shop. She's got some other really cool finds, check it out!

This is a super cool vintage train case that I will put some of my matted prints in.

It came from The Frabjous Day. Also lots of great finds there!

I found these precious little bird easels from this shop that I will probably get to display a few pieces.

Lastly, I have started making a few greeting cards to sell at the fair. I apologise for the horrible photographs, didn't have my camera and I had to take the pictures with my computer!

This is my first attempt at greeting card making, so go easy on me!

They are much lovlier in person, trust me!

More on this subject later, I am trying my hardest not to stress right before Christmas.

It should be a really great time though!

Dreaming in Vintage

2011-12-22T07:14:00.000-06:00

As you all are aware of, I went back to New York last week after being away for a long six months. New York in the winter is always so incredibly gorgeous and there are endless amount of of activities for the traveler and native alike. I have finally gotten around to editing a few of my personal photos from the trip... here's a preview!
