Mazda SKYACTIV Technologies

Mazda Motor Corporation today announced the launch of its SKYACTIV next-generation technologies that will begin appearing in Mazda products from 2011. The Mazda2 will be the first model to feature SKYACTIV technology. It will be powered by the SKYACTIV-G, Mazda's next-generation direct injection gasoline engine that achieves significantly improved fuel efficiency. The Mazda Demio SKYACTIV-G will achieve fuel economy of 30 km/l without any assistance from an electric motor.

SKYACTIV is a blanket term for Mazda's innovative next-generation technologies that are being developed under the company's long-term vision for technology development, Sustainable Zoom-Zoom. The SKYACTIV name is intended to reflect Mazda's desire to provide driving pleasure as well as outstanding environmental and safety performance in its vehicles. To achieve this goal, Mazda has implemented an internal Building Block Strategy to be completed by 2015. This ambitious strategy involves the comprehensive optimization of Mazda's base technologies, which determine the core performance of its vehicles, and the progressive introduction of electric devices such as regenerative braking and a hybrid system. All the technologies that are developed based on the Building Block Strategy will fall under the SKYACTIV umbrella.

Highlights of the SKYACTIV technologies

SKYACTIV-G: a next-generation highly-efficient direct-injection gasoline engine with the world's highest compression ratio of 14.0:1;
SKYACTIV-D: a next-generation clean diesel engine with the world's lowest compression ratio of 14.0:1;
SKYACTIV-Drive: a next-generation highly-efficient automatic transmission;
A next-generation manual transmission with a light shift feel, compact size and significantly reduced weight;
A next-generation lightweight, highly-rigid body with outstanding crash safety performance;
A next-generation high-performance lightweight chassis that balances precise handling with a comfortable ride.

Mazda First Time Owners Programs

Mazda Canada Inc., in partnership with the Bank of Nova Scotia, is pleased to announce the launch of the First Time Owners Program - an industry first! This program applies to new Mazda 2 and Mazda 3 vehicles, allowing First Time Owners (those customers with no prior automotive finance history) the ability to finance their new Mazda through Scotiabank and receive a $500 rebate from their purchase! This program can even be used in combination with all other incentive programs (excluding owner loyalty programs and the Mazda Graduate Rebate).

First Time Owners Program guidelines are as follows. Please note that all conditions must be met to qualify.

No prior auto finance experience
New Mazda 2 & Mazda 3 vehicles only
Payment maximum is $500/month
TDSR less than or equal to 35%
No derogatory credit (no delinquencies, no charge-offs or judgments, D&E rated borrowers are not eligible)

Mazda has a guiding principle to promote environmental protection and contribute to a better society. We are fully committed to a policy of minimizing pollution and conserving world resources. Mazda is aiming to reduce direct landfill waste to zero at all its domestic manufacturing plants (including development, administration and technology sections).

Over 75% of all plastic parts are suitable for recycling and all gaskets and brake-pads are asbestos-free. We use no ozone-damaging CFCs in polyurethane products such as the foam padding in seats, armrests and steering wheels.

We strive to use only the required amount of energy in the required place at the required time. Every step is taken to save energy where possible. In addition to this, we have for a significant time been operating a cogeneration system (generating heat and electricity at the same time), in our attempts to utilize energy in the most efficient way possible.

Mazda is committed to the prevention of global warming and as part of this commitment is working hard on research and development aimed at improving the fuel efficiency of its cars, thereby reducing the amount of CO2 emitted. Currently we are working on improving engine combustion, increasing transmission efficiency and reducing the weight of our vehicles, in order to be able to release passenger vehicles that meet Japanese 2010 fuel efficiency standards in all weight categories onto the market as soon as possible. All Mazda plants pass stringent ISO test

Mazda has already attained ISO14001 certification for all of its main production bases worldwide as part of its environmental management system. The Hiroshima-based company is now examining the introduction of a separate certification system for the environmental management of its smaller offices, group companies, and suppliers that are not yet certified.

Mazda requested that its suppliers attain the ISO14001 designation, and by the end of fiscal 2004, 95 percent had attained the ISO certification.

Mazda 90th Anniversary

As part of celebrations marking its 90th anniversary, Mazda Motor Corporation launched special edition versions of the Mazda Axela sports compact (known overseas as the Mazda3) and Mazda Biante mid-size tall ‘high-roof’ minivan for the Japanese market. Both models are equipped with Mazda’s unique idling stop system, i-stop, and go on sale today at all Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealerships throughout Japan.

The two commemorative special edition models feature the award-winning i-stop system and offer outstanding eco-friendly and safety performance as well as Mazda’s hallmark fun-to-drive attributes. In Japan, i-stop’s list of accolades includes the 2009 Eco-Products Award from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the 2010 RJC Technology of the Year award.

The Mazda Axela 90th Anniversary Special Edition is based on the four Axela grades that come with i-stop. It will be the first Mazda in the Japanese market with the exclusive exterior body color, Gunmetal Blue Mica. Mazda Museum

If you are an avid fan of automobiles then you must visit the Mazda museum in Hiroshima, which tries to trace the history of Matsuda in the field of automobile production and also displays the racing cars. The tour is a must for any automobile fan, but if you have any serious technical questions, then you should go on the Japanese tour and bring along your own interpreter, as there's less detail on the English tour.

The Mazda Museum is quite popular and that's why you need to make a reservation (up to a year) to visit the Mazda Museum. They offer free tours every weekday at 9:30am and 1:00pm in Japanese, and 1:00pm in English.

Visitors to the museums first come to the Mazda Head Office building and sign in at the front desk. When the tour is scheduled to begin, a Mazda tour guide directs visitors onto a bus to take them to the Museum building. The guide points out and explains the sites during the 10 minute drive through the Mazda facilities.

The Museum offers an overview of Mazda's history, a look into the technology of its automobiles, and the prospects for its future developments. The tour also passes through an actual vehicle assembly line (7km assembly line). Multiple models are on the assembly line, so visitors can see a variety of different cars being made. At the end of the tour there is a shop featuring Mazda goods. The tour takes 90 minutes from start to finish.

Our Mazda Service Department is open Saturday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. We are one of the few automobile dealerships who offer extended hours. We do this to accommodate many of our clients who can’t make it during normal work hours.
