Since receiving the iPhone 4 yesterday, I already got tired of trying to find good, high-quality wallpapers. It seems like most sites have just taken a low res desktop image and cropped them for the new iDevice. The screen is so good though, that they still look blurry.

Since I couldn’t sleep this morning, I made a few very simple wallpapers that are indeed high res (326 ppi) and 640 x 960. Let me know if you love or hate them or are currently using any of these wallpapers! Also, feel free to make any comments or suggestions.

I actually have this Persuasive Percussion Vinyl here at home. I couldn’t resist the dots at an estate sale! The typography could use a little work though…

This poster reminds me of something that Mr. Josh Boston would create.

I think I’m one of the few designers who likes the new Seattle’s Best logo. The other one was just so boring. It didn’t stand out at all. I love the simplicity of the new logo. It helps it stand out so much more.

Here is the latest & greatest from McCullough Design. Before getting into these, let me briefly paint a picture of the saga of my business cards:

Originally I had them printed through printprintprint.biz. The colors were terrible and washed out. The orange was pail and pretty gross looking. The brown looked like “baby-poop” brown. It was nasty and not even close the converted PMS colors I had originally picked. Anyways, after a few botched projects the printer decided that they didn’t need my business anymore.

Also the old cards had my old address on them. So to avoid reprints every time I move, I eliminated that from the new cards. It’s now all information that won’t change over time, hopefully.

The new cards are printed from uvcards.com I had some friends that used this company for a bunch of stuff and it was tremendously awesome quality work (gold-leaf, spot UV, custom cut & folded, etc all on one project). So UVCards came highly recommended. They did a terrific job on these cards. The colors are perfect. I recommend them 100% if you need any printing done.

Onto the specs of the new cards: They are 16pt thick & silk laminated. The orange side has a Spot UV (varnish) with the DM logo tiled across it. The spot UV is perfect as well. Sharp & clean, unlike the blurry other cards. Colors are spot-on as well (I couldn’t help but use the pun!). I absolutely cannot wait to give tons of these cards out to potential clients!

If you’ve been following me on Twitter or Facebook, you’d probably already know this news. But for those who don’t follow, my wife & I are moving to Boulder, Colorado! We’ll be making the actual move around April 1st (give or a take a few days).

It was a hard decision but we both felt it was something that we wanted to pursue. There’s just something about the allure of the great mountains that we cannot resist. Plus, we are in a unique situation where I can work from anywhere as a freelancer and she got a great transfer out there doing the same job that she loves.

I was born & raised in St. Louis and I really will be sad to leave this great city and extraordinary friends. Despite that, I’m sure good things await in Colorado.

I know you’re asking a few questions:

1. So what does that mean for this blog?
Basically the posting is going to be slow for a while. I’m afraid the Weekly Inspiration will turn into Erratic Inspiration for a while, at least until we actually get moved and get an internet connection again. I’ve just been too busy packing, trying to find a place to live and wrapping up some bigger freelance projects to spend time on the blog. Sorry!

2. How does this affect freelancing?
It doesn’t. Well, not really. I probably won’t be taking any jobs mid-March through the beginning of April. But that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about freelance after that. I’ll still be glad to help out after that! In Colorado, I will still be working freelance for wonderful people in St. Louis as well as in Boulder. So if there are any recommendations or connections for freelance work in Boulder, I’d be deeply grateful. So this shouldn’t affect much of anything, except for a few weeks’ break.

I created this CSS/HTML template site specifically to sell on ThemeForest. I saw a theme there that inspired me and thought that I could do much better with it. View the live demo here.

For all you web geeks: it is validated at XHTML 1.0 Transitional. Works in IE 7 & 8, and mostly in IE 6, but why are you using that browser anyways? Go upgrade already. Tested in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome on both Windows & Mac.

The download includes Photoshop files so you can edit whatever you need.

Here’s what you can do with this: You can edit it to your hearts content. You can use it for commercial and non-commercial use. You must give credit for the original work. Yes, you read that correctly!

McCullough Design is now completely redesigned from the ground up. This is my first WordPress design from scratch. I started with a completely blank slate, literally there were only CSS resets. Some of the older posts need some tweaking still, but I need a break! I’ve been putting off eating, sleeping & yes, even showering for days to get this finished. So I’ll edit those pesky posts tomorrow…

Think of this site as a Beta 2.0 version (beta 1 was local on my computer). I’ve done a bunch of testing, but if there is something that isn’t working or missing, please let me know and I’ll fix it right away! As always, best viewed in Firefox, Chrome or Safari. It will still work in newer versions of IE, but you won’t get those sweet CSS3 transitions & effects.

I would also love to hear what you think of the new design. Criticism is welcome. It will help make the site better. Also a little praise will help out my struggling ego!
