McCloud Photography's New Office and Meeting Space!

I am excited to announce our new office and meeting space! It's located on River Rd. in Keizer. I love how it turned out and think it's a perfect place for our clients to visit with us. We have a comfy little sitting area for chatting and then directly across from that we have a large t.v. perfect for viewing and ordering images. I am sharing the space with my awesome office-mate, Debbie Ego from Events Planned Perfectly. I am thrilled with how our styles came together. The timing and details for the new office couldn't have come at a better time for us. Looking forward to meeting with clients, new and old, as well as fellow vendors in our new space.

Changes and the Love of my Mom

It is hard to know where to start on a post about something personal. For the past several years, we have kept quiet about my Mom's condition in order to respect her privacy. However, with the changes we have had to make in order to care for her, it is no longer possible. If you read my short Facebook post, you know we have purchased a home in West Salem to be closer to my Mom and rented out our home and studio in Monmouth. We do have plans to go back but currently we need to be closer to my parents.

First of all, before I talk about my Mom's health, I wanted to thank all our clients who have been patient with us as we make adjustments to how we are doing things. I also want to make it known, we will be still very actively taking jobs, so please still contact us for sessions. We may change how we do things but will still be available to our clients. I will keep you updated on changes along the way. Change can also mean good things and I promise we will do our best to make these changes positive for our clients.

A few of you do know of my Mom struggles but many do not. My Mom is battling the horrible disease we call Alzheimer’s. I call it a battle because I have watched her fight hard to stop this beast of a disease from taking hold of her but unfortunately there is no way to fight it off forever. There have been many ups and downs in the past few years but obviously I like to focus on the ups.

I have had the chance to have amazing moments with my Mom and continue too, even in this current day. She is very much still a part of this life and her family. She loves just as deeply, worries about her loved ones, and shares in joys and sorrows. I have found her love for her family does not change even in the worst moments. I have learned that even in the tough moments, our bond can and has become stronger. I have seen just how strong of a man my Dad is and I am unbelievably thankful for his never quit attitude. Through him, I have seen what marriage is truly about by watching him stand by mom's side. Then there is Justin, who has become my true rock and is an even greater man than I thought possible. He has been more than willing to make every change needed so we can be there for my parents. I love him more then he knows for this. And the most amazing thing I have seen through my Mom is even as she struggles with her losses, her faith in God has not wavered.

With all the positives I can give of course there are hard days but I do want our friends and family to realize we are still living a good life. Some days may bring tears but some have us in tears laughing about the day’s events. I am so thankful to be able to be near her during this phase of life in both the good and the not so good days.

For those of you who know my Mom, I have one request...that whenever you see her, or think of her, you don't think of the loss that she may currently have but see her for everything she has left, everything she has always been, and the person she will always be to the ones that love her. I am a truly blessed woman to be able to call her my Mom.

Zach and Ryanne's Engagement Session - Salem Oregon Wedding Photographers

We had such a great time with this engagement session and I am just in love with all the fun images we got! When Ryanne brought up the idea of a camping/smores style session I got so excited. Camping and smores are two things Justin and I both love, so to create a session around them was just pure heaven. Pulling together all the items Ryanne and I could find plus somethings she picked up from Danner and Soli I think this stylized engagement session was a hit!

We know both Zach and Ryanne as the owners of Apogee. Zach is a DJ and Ryanne is a wedding and event planning specialist. That means beyond camping and smores we also all have a love for weddings. We just know their wedding is going to be amazing and we can't wait!

Abbi's Senior Photos - Salem Oregon Senior Photographers

We had a great day with Abbi capturing her senior photos. We had so many great locations to shoot in and as you can tell, Abbi is quite photogenic. We spent alot of time during her session out in the country side of West Salem as well as a visit to downtown Salem. It may of been an overly hot and bright day but I think both Abbi and I would agree it was all worth it when you see the results. Las Vegas and WPPI Recap ~ McCloud Photography

We have been meaning to write a recap of WPPI 2011 but how do you write a recap about such a massive event. In 5 short days, the things we learned and the experiences have brought us to make some great changes to our business. We have started offering some fun new products, made some simple changes to our workflow that have increased our productivity, and changed the way we are doing a few things. We are sure all the changes will have postive results for our clients.

Some of the high lights are always the platform classes. There are always so many great speakers to choose from. So many of their stories are so inspirational. By the time we attended the last class of the week we end up with quite a list of action items to add to our to-do list. Then of course, the trade show floor. Two gigantic rooms full of gear, products, and every photography item imaginable. It really is a large toy store for photographers. However, one of the greatest parts of WPPI is the friendships you can build with other photographers. We had the chance to meet so many great people this year and we are so excited to have new friends. If you are a professional photographer and you have never been to WPPI, we highly recommend you make the investment. It is well worth it for you and your business.

Unfortunately, we were so busy at the convention that we didn't even have time to take photos. So, you have to settle for a boring photo of my WPPI pass. :-)

I recently took a few days off to enjoy some time with my mom, something I do way too little of. We took a trip to the Oregon Coast and stayed right along the beach with a beautiful view. One of my favorite memories growing up were my trips to the beach with my mom. Hours talking as we watch the ocean, eating junk food, shopping at the outlet stores, talking some more, staying up way too late, all part of a few wonderful mother-daughter days together. I don't want to let too many days pass before we enjoy time like this again. I am thinking it's something we should do every year but without the repeat of the Tsunami ending our trip.

As we said in last nights blog, in true Oregon fashion, it was definitely a wet day! It left us looking for new and unexpected locations. Luckly, Travis and Danae are both OSU alumni so they knew the campus well. They were able to show us some great new spots. We also have to thank them for being willing to try things, even as people had to walk around them as they posed for photos inside. They may of been cold and a little wet but they never let it show. Birth Photographer ~ Salem Oregon

I am still on a high from photographing this birth. I never thought I would say this but I really can't wait to photograph another birth! So, if anyone is interested, we are available for birth photography. Maybe I should state that a little differently and say I am availble for birth photography, this is a time when Justin will not be assisting me :-) Onto Lindsey and Baby Olive.

I have been wanting to share these photos with everyone but wanted to wait until Lindsey saw them first. This weekend, she gave me permission to share more photos from the birth of her newest little one. It's still hard to put into words how amazing the experience was and what an honor it was to be there for these precious moments. I had been in contact with Lindsey all day by text and with Sean by phone working to plan the exact time I should arrive. I arrived just a few minutes before they had asked and thank goodness I did because when I walked in the door Lindsey was pushing. In all of about 8 minutes, Olive was born. She was perfect, healthy and beautiful. I must say, I have always thought Lindsey was amazing and capable of pretty much anything but now I think she is even more amazing!

I can't wait to watch this little angel grow. Congratulations Lindsey and Sean! It was only fitting Olive's birth would be the first I photographed. You may have started out as the perfect clients but over the past few years, you have turned into wonderful friends. We are so happy for you and your now family of four.

Lindsay and Sean waited to find out if it was a boy or girl. The doctor was holding the baby up for them to see.
