Remix / New Song

All of my songs are on the site now plus (!) a completely new one. 'Meet me by the orange' and 'this city' got some remixing done so I think they sound appreciably better.

I'm wondering about distributing this stuff... I feel guilty charging, and on top of that I give it away on the 'net. Now the question is, do I want to make money doing this? Yes. I need to be known to do that. So I guess it can be termed as an 'investment' to be recouped though playing live. If I can get a gig, that is.

Btw, don't use .mac. It works ok, but there are other, slightly more expensive hosting solutions that are soooo much better in so many ways (like using FTP instead of webDAV, more space, don't have to use shitty apple templates... the list goes on). I already spent my 100 bucks so I guess there's no going back.

The best thing about having my music online if that it makes it easy to get a decent estimate as to how many people have listened to your work.

Orientation went well. I have to admit my amazement at how many people are 'good friends with Alastair'. Amazing. 21 days till move in.

I'm getting rid of 'this city'. I think I'll keep it on the site, but I'm re-recording an older one and putting that on the cd. So the cd probably end up being somwhere around 20 minutes long (4 songs).

I haven't written here for sometime. Honestly, it has a lot to do with boredom.

In other news, 'meet me by the orange' needs bass, mixing, and then it's ready! Had a scare with the imic. Please only buy an imic if you are desperate like me and 1)your comp doesn't have a mic in and 2)You cant afford anything else.

With GarageBand and all, you'd think that Apple would've kept the mic input on the ibooks.....

I am certainly proud to announce that I've completed another song. It's available, as usual, on my site. I also posted some new pictures, as I know the internet just CAN'T get enough of me.

Went to the PR fest with Becky... it was pretty nice, especially some greasy empanadilla and pina colada. I guess I'll be working that off tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I may have to part with my buddy for a week. I'm taking the 'book to my local Mac store to see why my combo drive sounds like death. The prospect of having an unfinished song pissed me off enough to push and finish the third song. Now I just need to wait for stuffit to compress the file so I can back it up (just in case :)).

But that's it. I'm tired, and waking up tomorrow will probably suck.
It's usually worth it.

Compete OS reinstall because I am an Idiot. Garage band has NO support for those who like anything other than 4/4. Lazy bastards. I would relate the whole story about the events that led to me just saying 'fuck it', reinstalling everything, and then realizing the problem was that there are 2 loops in 3, but that would just make me seem more like an idiot. Well, I guess it was idiotic.

Picked up Becky this morning in Reading. It's nice to see her again. Yes, I know it's only been 2 days but still! Tonight we are jogging and watching 'the day after tomorrow' on DVD. Yay.

I figured I'd write a bit before I clocked in for work. Had a good 4th of July weekend. it was nice having Monday off for sure! It was also nice spending time with a certain person who never remains nameless :).

Last night I started serious work on recording another song (called 'love,you do'). I'll probably revise my site with lyrics and such in a timely manner.

The tasks before me seem daunting. I'm not sure how much of my work remains after the DB restore tragedy. It's nothing I can't handle, though.

Now I guess it's time for me to start working. Or is it??? Yes it is.

My work for the past few days has been deleted because of a database restore.........and the sites all fucked to hell so I can't even test anything. I guess I'll blog. I woke up semi early today to the news that my fresh new debit card came in, so I went to close my checking account at the old shitty bank. Too bad it doesn't open 'till 9. Nothing eventful at work except for going to Wendy's and the test site DYING. But that's ok.

Just gives me something to do.

Now for a more complete post. As you can see, my computer issues seem to be over for now and my .mac homepage is back up. Today I spent approximately 3 hours with various tech support people who ended up blaming each other (apple blames verizon and verizon blames apple) for the issue. I don't care because it is working!

Last night I went with the Beckster and her friend Kara to watch "War of the Worlds". I have to say that besides the impoted political referencing (the terrorists!!!) I really enjoyed it. Actually I found it genuinely sorta freaky. But I'm a wuss.

Now my new song is finally almost finished (some minor mixing needed). All parties interested can click on the 'my site!' link in the sidebar!

My usb hub came in!!!!!!!!!!

Yay for free stuff. And Griffin Technologies. As usual, I've run out of things to do here. So I've been randomly checking news and of course my handy wikiwidget.

I added some bass to my project last night. Too bad it sounds like shit. I guess I'll have to re record it. At least I have the part written. In other news, .mac says my problems are my fault. In short, I'll probably be moving my music over to purevolume. That is, unless the problems really are my fault and the uploading won't work there either...

I'll hope for the best.

I was planning on subscribing to .mac so I could get my songs on the net and such... but it seems to have stopped working. .mac has no phone tech support so I sent some angry email. It pisses me off because there NO REASON FOR IT NOT TO BE WORKING. Don't go to my site. It's down.

Heres a description:

1.Drag and drop music file.
2.Says its uploading fine and takes awhile like normal.
3.try and include file on download site
4.safari locks up
5.check file info

That's right! The second song is almost done and on top of that, I'm bored at work as usual. It's ungodly hot in the office and I'm approaching my usual concentration breakdown (already commencing). My supposed free usb hub has not arrived so I im'ed 'jason' and hopefully I'll actually get it (we all like free stuff, right?)

I got to teach the Beckster how to pump gas today over the phone. I'm proud of her. We were having trouble until someone over where she was decided to be nice and hit on her/help her. Yep, she's just that hot (and I always get the girl).

I was pretty busy yesterday. Brought bike to bike shop (spectacular flat), waited half an hour for it to get fixed, picked up the Beckster, went back to here house to reclaim my forgotten wallet, went jogging...in all I really had no time to post!

And as usual, I was up until maybe 2 recording. But the second song seems to be coming along nicely. I really like my current setup. It (like in everything) could be better, but I really can't complain. Well, I'll complain about the fact that I need to unplug the ibook when recording to prevent a nasty hum (although that in its self is an intermittent problem). My supposed free usb hub has not arrived, but I'm not sure if I should really be expecting it at all.

Waking up was a bitch and so was getting the printer to work at my house. I decided to be an idiiot and delete the setting on the comp, the settings that were correct only by dumb luck. I guess I'lll work on that tonight, along with hopefully completing the second song and posting it.
