I've been wanting to do some sort of in-person drink-and-draw for a while now. Nothing too directed or proscribed, just a bunch of people who like to draw doing so together while enjoying a few pints (or drams, or glasses, or whatevs), agreeing upon what to draw on the day. I've recently gotten the peeps at 71 Brewing's taproom Canvas to lend me their back-room event space for this purpose. I guess this is an open invite for any of you local Mefites to meet up with me for this, but anyone who you might want to bring along would be welcome as well, of course. 26th February, 2026, 71 Brewing's Canvas Taproom in Dundee. In, erm, 2038 but what the heck; gotta have dreams, some of which can occasionally come true. I've provisionally chosen a waterfall close to the border of Sweden and Norway for people to experience an eclipse in two countries (a few pictures), but am amenable to a different location nearer the time. Okay, it's a little far in the future but that gives plenty of time to prepare. And it's good to have a distant goal in mind. Feel free to provisionally sign up for it, even if you think it's very unlikely you'll attend. Because, who knows? And it would be interesting to eventually have a real life meetup which was suggested over 12 years previously, as at that point we close in on the 40th anniversary of MetaFilter.
