Healthy Fruit Snacks?

Yes! There are fruit snacks that can be healthy! A lot of the fruit snacks you see in the aisles of your supermarket are so jammed pack with sugar, food coloring and other ingredients that even though they might have some fruit juice in them, they are no longer healthy.

That is when Matt and Travis Betters entered the scene. Brothers-All-Natural sent me a variety pack of the regular Fruit Crisps, and the Mickey's Clubhouse Fruit Crisps. I had never tried freeze dried fruits before so I wasn't sure what they would taste like. The first one i tried was the Fuji Apple. I was surprised how much it tasted exactly like a fresh apple! Sure you couldn't feel the juice in your mouth, but taste wise it was perfect. Next I tried the Apple-Cinnamon - it was the perfect amount of cinnamon.

I still have a few flavors left to try but so far they have all been delicious! I like fruit, but when I buy it fresh, it sometimes gets pushed to the back of the fridge and I forget about it. Some fresh fruits are a little hard to eat on the go because they can be a little messy and your hands can get sticky. These portion controlled bags are perfect because there is no mess! No juice squirting out, no sticky hands. Plus you don't have to peel the apples, bananas, oranges first - just grab a bag and go!

Beyond The Shock is a non-profit ( and due to recent events I feel I should mention they are not affiliated with Susan G. Komen or Planned Parenthood).

Beyond The Shock is a resource for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, a place for loved ones to gain a better understanding of the disease, and a tool for doctors to share information.

The site has more than just videos; it is an online community of women around the world who are wrestling with similar emotions, questions, decisions, and experiences. People can ask questions and give answers. They can also watch stories of hope and share their own.

Beyond The Shock is a collaborative breast cancer guide created by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) with the support of the finest medical experts, doctors, and researchers in the world.

My New Favorite Pet Store!

I prefer to order our Cats food online, because I like to buy the big (heavy) bags and usually I can find the brands and sizes I want cheaper online. Having someone deliver the heavy bags to my door sure beats lugging it through the store, to my car, and into the house. My only hang up was sometimes with the sites I ordered from the shipping was costing me as much as the food so I wasn't saving any money!

My cats like wet food that whole animal chunks in it (as opposed to by-product and filler "junk") and with Tiki you can actually see the chunks of each type of seafood. As a human who hates seafood its actually kind of gross looking at chunks of crab, tuna and other seafood - BLEH! - but my 3 kitties go NUTS for it!

This Old House

When my husband and I bought our house, we wanted everything to be perfect. It took us a while to find something we could afford, so there was a lot excitement when we finally found one. We researched everything from Norton security systems to electrical systems. The house was a fixer upper, and it needed a lot of work. The kitchen had to be totally gutted, and the bathrooms looked like something out of a bad movie made in the 1970’s. The whole house was covered in lime green shag carpeting, so you can imagine how bad it was. I wasn’t working at the time, and most of my time was spend working on the house and trying to figure out how we could make it better. I bought a bunch of books about how we could fix things ourselves, and they were really helpful. It took us a long time to get all of the renovations done, but we saved a ton of money doing them ourselves. The house looks great now, and we are so happy with the work we did. Fixing up this old house was really a labor of love.

Stinky Clothes? Smelly Dishes?

Mold, mildew and bacteria love to have a dark, moist place, and a washing machine is the perfect spot for them to thrive. If left untreated, that can leave your washing machine smelling less than fresh.

Luckily I was able to review all natural Smelly Washer Cleaner! Smelly Washer Cleaner helps you to safely remove the odor-causing residue that grows on from deep inside your washer. This product can be used in all top and front load, HE and non-HE washers! Smelly Washer Cleaner is used by adding a level cap (1 tbsp.) to a hot setting and allowing the cycle to complete. Most users find this will remove mildew odor from any top or front loading washer. Worse cases will need more than 1 cleaning and even soaking to remove the odor-causing buildup

The product sounded really cool, so I was excited to review it, but since I didn't think my washer smelled, I wasn't sure if I would be able to tell if it was really cleaning our washer or not. The first time I actually used Smelly Washer, I actually used it on the dishwasher. Our dishes weren't coming out clean and everything started to smell. I figured hey, if Smelly Washer could clean a washing machine, it could probably clean a dishwasher. We put about 1/2 a tablespoon in the detergent dispenser and ran it on the hottest longest setting. I can honestly say I was amazed at how clean the inside of the dishwasher looked when I opened it. Our dishes come out a lot cleaner and smell a whole lot better since using Smelly Washer!

Right around Christmas I started noticing that when I was drying myself off after a shower, that the towels smelled terrible! I started adding a scent booster to my loads again to make them smell better and didn't think much of it. This past Thursday I was getting dressed for work and as I was pulling on a pair of Jeans I noticed they STUNK. They had just been washed so I knew they were "clean". I threw them in the laundry bin thinking maybe they sat too long in the washer before moving to the dryer. I found a different pair of jeans to wear and continued on my way.

Saturday I got ready and noticed the smell AGAIN. Tony kept thinking it was my feet but I kept insisting it was not. We were in the car dropping his daughter off and I finally made him smell my Jeans. He dry heaved a little. He then insisted on opening the windows when it was in the 30's to get some fresh air. He finally believed me it wasn't my feet. I asked him If maybe there was a load he let sit too long before putting in the dryer and he said, no, but he usually washes everything twice because it smells so bad - and since he is a guy, he never thought to add any scent booster to the load.

Then it dawned on me. *Smacks hand on forhead* DUH! Its the washing machine itself that stinks! Sure scent makes clothes smell good, but it is really just covering up any odor being caused by the washing machine! So today I ran the Smelly Washer through our washing machine and then ran a regular load without any scent boosters. I got a little nutso and smelled every single thing as I was folding / hanging it to make sure it didn't smell. I am happy to report that I can safely say, it was our dirty washing machine causing the problem odor, and Smelly Washer eliminated that problem.

Almost Wordless Wednesday: Life with Oliver

In case you are new here, Oliver is the kitten we rescued New Years Day. We had seen him hanging around since around Christmas and New Years Day we finally were able to scoop him up and bring him in. There was a lot of snow, and it was below zero out. Long Story short, we took him to the vet, got his gnarly bite wound taken care of, he wasn't micro chipped, nobody claimed, him so he is now ours!

I have been using the Ultra Packs for a few weeks now, and I love them. There was one, time where the pack didn't properly burst - it actually slimed all down the front of the clear part of the door on my front loader.
