Jessica Sanchez Takes Home the Runner Up Title

It was a breath-taking event on the American Idol finals. Even with variety of mouthful impressive intermissions from top 10 AI finalists (more like a reminiscing jolly reunion, that is) and from various well-known past and present performers, people are still weary of the big day's event.

As though time literally stopped when Ryan Seacrest announced the long waited winner of American Idol Season 11. With a new record of 132 million votes came in to support the two finalist, it is once again a record breaking deal for the show, especially, a lot of rival shows such as X- factor, America Got Talent and among others surfaced just to keep up with audience demand for talent search.

Sadly, Filipino-Mexican favourite, Jessica Sanchez's fans were not able to steal over the numerous votes against Philip Phillips.

It was believed that during the finals, Philip is not feeling well that he has to lean and sit from time to time. He even was not able perform well his victory song as confetti pour down because he was a bit emotional to have been named as the recent American Idol.

For most Jessica's fans and supporters who never failed to watch and attend voting party session in support for her, they are still hoping that not winning the American Idol title would still open more doors of opportunities for her believing that she have that awesomely amazing talent.

Yes! Another reason why we should be proud why we are Filipinos. Jessica Sanchez finally made it to the coveted top 2 of the first and largest singing competition in the United Staes of America. Along with Ms. Sanchez, heart rob and rock-crooner Philip Phillips will compete for the title as the next American Idol.

Sadly, Joshua's votes was not enough to bring him up to top 2. He was once been an under dog but raised himself up which judges noticed as he reached top12. He often belted as if he was a male Aretha Franklin.

Now, that only the finest contenders bids for the title, everyone wonders if it's now time to a Filipino pride to sing her way out to the 'Hollywood' dream. let us all just see about that on the final night...

Surprising your is not just as ieasy as buying something tacky or expensive stuff. Here are nice gifts that would truly make your mom smile other than giving your mom just the usual flowers.

5 - Chocolates...
* Who doesn't likes chocolates? Surely, whether locally made or imported ones can make every sweet tooth mom smile. Just make sure your mom has no diabetes or else your Mother's Day surprise will send another doubtful meaning

4 - kitchen stuff or things she usually use at home ( like teflon pan, food processor or if you have the budget, washing machine with dryer or a La Germania oven)

*Though an iPad or trip to Bora would be heaven for us but nothing beats a hug from our son (or for others, daughter or if your blessed enough both). Material and extravagant things makes us happy but remembering us and letting us feel we are important and treasured, the the best of all. But of course it's much more nice if all of the people in the household would always show respect and love always (that we don't have to nag around just to be heard), that would be the best gift ever!

Title: Hurray! Jessica Sanchez Made It!

All cheers to our 'kababayan', Jessica Sanchez for making it to final 3 of American Idol this season. Because of her over the top singing skill everyone expected the Fil-Mexi to win. But the last near elimination of Jessica gives a lot of jitters and doubt to all the 16-year-old contestant fans' confidence she would probably make it to top 3 at most. With much prayers, moral and voting support, Jessica did it! Jessica was not the only mixed Filipino blood singer made it to the finals, there were Tia, Jasmine, And Camille (who was my bet at her time). It was not just long ago that another Filipino-Amenican has earned herself to the same coveted Top 3. But Jasmine Trias then was not as brilliantly impressive as Jessica. Truth is, a lot of people are madly crazy about Jessica's voice, as well as Hollywood celebs are fascinated with how much energy and high notes she can belt. With Jessica, Philip and Joshua making the top 3, it was a heartbreaking time when Haley sung her final performance in American Idol last Friday. It was expected that she will be sent home next (because she has the only unfavorable comments last thursday), but I can't help but be disappointed with the result as well. 'Hoping her adoring funny English accent cano drag her fans up to vote unitedly. Any way, I will miss her up beat wacky voice (though she sings heartbreaking songs at times) and her cutely - angel like face.

Welcome to the iPad Generation

In the Name of iPad... Finally, we invested on an Apple! Yes, I am an apple lover, I love the juicily sweet and a tangy sour taste from that fruit but I am not referring to that. If it isn't only Steve Jobs' ingenious mind and untimely death that intrigues me, my hubby wouldn't had gifted me an iPad. Though a bit pricey, we finally got an iPad! But our excitement was soon hindered by a bit of dismay. Since I am an incredibly good Microsoft user (ahem...) I can't get the hang of typing and exploring Apple's tech as I usually do in my old Hp Compaq laptops. And here are more few stuff I had hard time adapting from iPad: 5 - Sensitive keys (or monitor perhaps in this case) needs to master more as if you are trying to use your mouse and keyboard for the first time in your life 4 - New strange environment (if you are used to using Microsoft interface, common terms you might know has different terms with Apple's. Like, If you wanted to visit a website, you don't Explorer or Firefox to help you out but Safari may aid you to. And you will find it funny that the 'return' tab on the iPad's keyboard means 'enter') 3 - Additional installation app to access certain sites (it took me many minutes to find out that I need to install a Facebook app just to easily access the site) 2 - Sensitive screen means additional accessory to buy to protect your iPad ( unlike my old laptop, I can easily slip it through my bags. 1- Intellectual property rights issue which turned me off. Given, iPads have no USB ports, I expected it's built in Bluetooth technology will help me share data from my phone or from my laptop ( or desktop), but even successfully paired, I found out that iPad is still firm with it's brand to exclusively share and use iPad related tech alone. Thus, you need to invest more on other Apple tech to extend your ability to share and use your data. Well, despite of the undesirable stuff I get from using iPad, at least this little rectangular fella here comes in handy and I feel a lot classy and definitely wealthy when I bring my iPad with me. Besides, how many virus maker has mastered the art and has targeted massively Apple's software? At least fewer than any other famous personal computing system that I know. And all I know from my IT literature, it was Apple who started it all...

2nd International Boulderface Challenge Ends

Dole Team Finished 18th on the 2nd International Boulderface Challenge!

Hurray! Out of 49 hopeful teams to finish the most extreme and challenging International Boulderface Race, Dole triumphantly completed the race, though the team has had the hard time running after the other topping teams; Dole Team members received their medals with high-spirits and satisfaction. Surely, organizers of the International Boulderface Challenged did not made the race easy. Knowing that only the 'creme of all creme' will answer to the call for extreme challenge, prepared the race with full-packed undeniably with highest degree of test in 4 adventure disciplines(extreme length runnGing, wild water-tubing, stamina beating biking, and the most grueling climbing ever! No wonder why only about 38% of the adventure challenged teams completed the race. (That's how extremely demanding the race is).

With last year's failed attempt to finish the challenge as a team, Dole Team Avenged This Time Around. With new member Wong's radiating strength and stamina, added with Engr. Rai faithfull determination and Nonoy's willingness; it was a sweet taste of victory to complete the race. 2^nd Boulder Face International Challenge is On!

After rigorous training of biking and running as well as preparing a healthy diet for the 2^nd Boulder Face Race… With Dole’s belief and support with our country’s economy and tourism effort to make our county better than usual (hence, Philippine’s theme – ‘More fun…’); Dole Philippine Inc. has generously did not only sent one but two teams to represent the company’s name. The two Dole teams left as early as 4am for Davao just this morning.

Far different from last year’s teams, though composed of almost the same members, the members are stronger, hopeful, fittingly equipped, well motivated and up-beat with this year’s 2^nd Boulder Face Challenge. Either of the teams’ achievement will bring surely a better moral for Dole employees and the company itself.

The race will test all teams with heart stumping running/ mountain trekking, rough biking path, and challenging water ways to be passed through water tubes.

To Engr. Rai, and Wong Lucilla with Nonoy Sadiang-Abay as their logistic member; and as well as to Eric Lubos’s team – God speed on the race! May you all enjoy and have the best adventure challenge ever!

What Went Wrong Colton Dixon?

This season, two contenders caught my eyes – our Kababayan Jessica Sanchez and a rocker-next door Colton Dixon. Colton has a hardcore hairdo resemblance with AI judge and Aerosmith lead singer, Steve Tyler. In my younger years, Colton would probably one of those guys I would definitely scream my heart out. Of course, he also sings well. I had seen him struggle through tedious audition and cut-offs. His rocker suave style in singing got him to final top 7. He even cried more deeply than her sister who also a contender for AI but unluckily was not included in the ‘AI cut’ in Las Vegas.

But what did really happened last night? Well, I guess it was Colton’s fault all along. His fans which I suspect are mostly people whom are impressed by his boldness in expressing and delivering songs which are of classy and unfathomable spirituality. But unfortunately, when he over exert to move out of his box and was so ambitious to prove that he is more than a spiritual singer, all things became messy. With his disappointing and unclear rendition of Lady Gaga’s hit ‘Bad Romance’, he risked himself thrown out of the competition. I am a self-confess Colton fanatic, but his ‘Bad Romance’ really gone badly to worst! I guess people deliberately didn’t vote for him because of his bothering act.

Colton Dixon was out of American Idol that is one reason less I would watch the show. I am glad Jessica Sanchez was safe last time. Or else, I will again end up watching colour-comic cartoons. As for Colton, given the chance to be in top 7 will surely bring opportunities for his singing career. If you’re lucky enough to have an album, I swear I will get a copy of your record and even lead an official fan club in the Philippines provided neither Lady Gaga nor Justine Beiber’s on it! Be a real rock star like Elvis Presley dude, he died an authentic rocker not trying to be someone his not.

Jessica Sanchez, Nearly out of the Season

AI judges Jlo, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson rushed to stage to join Jessica and emotionally announced that they have decided to let Jessica to still stay on game

I was shock, as well as everyone too was not expecting last night’s result for bottom 3. It tore my heart out when Ryan Seacrest called Jessica’s name to have the lowest votes. Not everyone was ready to hear about that news, including the 3 respected judges and also world renowned artists themselves.

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler unanimously agreed to use the one and only “Save Vote” authority of the judges. The “Save Vote” by the judges usually is used not as early as this. The fear of losing a valuable contender as early as the contest runs made the judges decide to redeem our Kababayan.

Me and millions of Filipinos must have breathe well after knowing our fave Jessica will still be able to compete on the next AI episode.

First the author would like to thank those who try to hop once in a while on her personal online thought (though her posts are often untimely and super delayed). Since the author only uses her blog as a tunnel of expression of her insane thoughts, she didn’t really expect any will read this little net space nor will loyally follow this page. But she daringly loves spending money on romantic-comedy movies and action films. She couldn’t help cry on movies with which depicts pain and heart-drenching movies.

These are posts which are direct from Rona’s randomly weird thought. She is oftentimes been misunderstood by her too opinionated reckless big mouth, she psychologically bury things and spend moments through blogging her anxieties instead. She has fearless comments and observation on almost anything and everything, whether heckling a showbiz personality, applauding a modern-day hero, calling out for someone, or just about anything that comes from her mind. Rona is such a desperate travel buddy. The former homebody gal from mountainous province of Bulacan has aspirations of travelling around places which she has only dreamed of. American Idol Fever Season 11 >> Another Filipino on the Rise

A Warm Blooded Filipino -Jessica Sanchez

I hadn’t much religiously watched American Idol since Kelly Clarkson blew me away with her awesomely powerful voice and William Hong’s stardom flight in his hilariously natural satirical version of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs”. I did also follow AI, when our fellow Filipinos Jasmine Trias and Camille Velasco made it to the final 12.

Since I stay at home to watch over our son, I had all the time in the world to watch American Idol (even watch reruns all over again). AI made the show more interesting to watch when another talented Filipino contender Jessica Sanchez made it to top 12.

During the America-wide-search of American Idol at San Diego, I already noticed Jessica Sanchez and Ashley Robles' Asian-like beauties and over the top voices. I had this inner inkling that these girls must be a pure Filipinos or may be mix. My suspicion grew stronger when they impressed me with their incredible singing talent, more like a Filipino artist can carry out. Of course, it all came out and I was right. Both are true talented Filipinos. But unluckily, Ashley was sent home but Jessica was still able to showcase more of her talent. Jessica Sanchez? News spread rapidly confirming that she is indeed a true talent-blooded Filipino. Well, kind of more like a mutated artist, with her half Filipino singing gift and another half Mexican cheerful attitude – she is a total package.

Filipinos are totally the most bonded and family oriented people all over the world. The failure or victory (in this case Jessica’s fame) of one Filipino affects greatly the whole country. It seems as if all of us are also recognized same way our fellow countrymen did. Jessica Sanchez’s achievement in AI feels like it’s also our triumph. We can be more proud than ever that it seems all 3 AI judges, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler are hands-down with her singing ability.

To Jessica, thank you for giving your fellow Filipinos for another reason to be confident and be proud of our brown and warm-blooded Filipino skin. ‘Ako ay lahing Pilipino, Kayumanggi ang kulay... at di ko ito ikinahihiya.. ikinararangal ko pa ito’

Surviving the 1st International Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge

Dole and SMI Connived to Survive

Remembering Dole Philippines Inc.’s Attempt to Conquer 1^st International Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge

It was just like yesterday that Davao had launched the 1^st International Boulder Face Challenge on April 29, 2011. The 3-day challenge is composed of exhilarating trekking trail, rigorous biking track and an overall thrilling race. The event was competed by both local and international league of respected adventurers and nature lovers. There have been international companies which are based in the country who gladly participated in the event. They supported the aim of Davao's local government and Department of tourism's aim to not just organize and unite all the adventure loving persons; but also to promote the province’s natural God-given gift breathless view of Mt. Apo’s Boulder Face.

Dole Philippines Inc.’s Engr. Rainer Paul R. Formoso, Mr. Eric Lubos and joined by Mr. Ramil Villar (as the team’s logistics) accepted to face the 1^st ever Boulder Face Race. Admittedly, the team was then still raw and unprepared for the competition (last minute before the race started , there have been a bad decision of replacing Dole's original racer's line-up). With lack of proper physical and mental preparation, Eric was not able to cope to the challenge half-way due to long hours of rigid biking and running, his legs cramped painfully. Instead of retreating back to the starting line; with Dole Company as his banner, Engr. Rai decided to complete the race even without the recognition ahead of him. Armed only with self-worth fulfillment of completing what has to be impossible, be possible.

Even with exhaustion and disappointment,
Dan and Rai still manage to pose with a smile

Along the way, Engr. Rai met SMI’s Daniel Hill team member (one of Sagittarius Mines Inc.'s director) who in same way was determined as Rai to finish the challenge even his team member has also not survived the race early on. The two then agreed to complete the race together even coming from different teams. Though After strenuous 3-day challenge, the newly created team (though unofficially not qualified as a team and does not compete as a team) finally made it to the end of the challenge. At this point, this is not about the prize nor recognition, but the capability of surviving one of the best adventures of the year!

As the two parted ways, motivated with the enduring race, they have plans to yet participate on the next International Boulder Face Challenge. They will then make sure they are well armed with not just guts, and high spirits but with physical and mental stamina.

Tabang, The Wonder Dog

A Dog Hero

A month ago, an askal (a Philippine regular dog breed) made it to our country’s national news. Tabang caught everyone’s attention for her heroic act, in rescuing the two young girls from an alleged hit-and-run incident (who truly proved what her names worth, Tabang in Visayan language means help). Tabang’s face now brutally scared and deformed (even TV videos and Newsprint photos has to be blurred for the now gruesome image the dog has after the accident) now in care of Zamboanga veterinary doctors. Zamboanga’s locality even sought help from different NGOs both in the Philippines and abroad for the dog hero’s facial surgery. Our government even proposed to declare Tabang as our country’s official hero (in line with names of such world famous boxer - Manny Pacquio, People Power Hero – Benigno Aquino, and more alike).

There are two points I see in Cabang’s story:

© Tabang is such a wonder and a care bear. Everyone wanted to have a dog pet, probably would have an option to lastly choose an askal.of all the dogs I had, my fave was “Jackpot”, a shih tzu. My askal pets were all fine but a well-breed one stand out the most. Admit it askal are cheap (we can even have them for free!), and low in maintenance to feed and groom (we could feed them anything even our left- overs and we can use ordinary soap to bath them). Now, Tabang and all other untold stories of askals’ heroic act must change all those biasness. After all all men should be equal, as well as dogs too.

© Instead (Aside) from honouring Tabang’s glorifying and faithful act, our government should also push through and strictly impose our existing animal welfare laws. We should also insist in my past blogs, this government should also have laws regarding proper caring, responsible pet ownership and liabilities with all domesticated animals.DOH Secretary if you are busy and hadn’t thought about this yet, now I am calling again your attention.

I am pretty sure, everyone has been a victim of fake friends (often times or once in his lifetime). These are friends whom you actually see a future of surreal friendship but you realized you are such an idiot of not seeing the obvious signs that you were dancing with the Devil! These are friends you call ‘Plastic’, or infamously known as ‘Tupperware’ or if friends of cheap level we call them ‘Orocan’. I will give you tips I learned from my past and recent disappointments with detecting, ‘unworthy friends’.

Here are the types of friends you should avoid and spend least amount with:

9 - People Pleaser (updated as of March 1, 2012)

That’s me also! Meeting a new person makes me a superb Ms. Congeniality. I want to make sure I made the best impression ever. I trust easily and way so transparent. I effortlessly make myself available and I open myself too soon than usual. Which at the end - all the things I said (in good faith) are all taken against me seriously and judgementally

8 – Kamikaze

These are you so-called friends who are deliberately unconscious about other people’s feelings. They are not aware of their own clutter and mistakes. They have no regard with rules and regulations as long as they get through it. He literally does not care about anything and anybody as long as he believes in his on crooked point of view. These persons are overconfident in thinking themselves as friend of everybody when in fact they have really no true friends at all. He is a free-lancer friend; you can’t really rely in helping you out but trusts everyone else would do him a favour.

7. Close Minded

These are friends who are negatively close-minded with corrections, suggestions, new ideas and comments. They are deprived with proper intellect and capacity to think the correct argument which what you points out. They are often are unaware of having hearing problems, confusions and delusions.

6– Bossy Nosy

They are usually well-off but not necessarily rich. They tend to often times treat you out and give you stuff. But beware, when she needed a favour from you, she have major in history and are of good mathematical skills, though she wouldn’t directly remind you of the good things she gave you and nice stuff you enjoy from her; you tend you bear with her annoying unreasonable snubbing, indirect slavery, and often times bad talk from her. Hello! You are now, her official nanny! You will notice that she now starts to ask you favour to reach for an object that’s near her or ask you to fetch something along your way even it is too hard for you to. This set up is nice if you too can count on her but nope, she may tend to get bothering reaction if you ask her same favours she asks you.

5 – Ego-centric

These are control freak, only knows me, my, and I, irritatingly inconsiderate, and self gratifying person. These are persons that are not conscious if you needed quiet or fun time if you stress or celebrating for your achievement. They always divert every moment in her life. And another red flag you are friends with an egocentric is that your life is now a formula of ‘Your personal life’ + ’ your family’ + ‘HER LIFE’ = ‘You’. You now constantly know what happened to her life’s update. Conversation often ends up with her as the last sentence.

4– Savings Drainer

She is either rich, trying to be rich or just plain financially challenged person.

A friend from a well off family would generally enjoy classy and expensive things as well as expensive pleasures. If you are not as rich as your friend, you may end up spending more than what you earn and more than your allowance. But if your well-to-do friend is generous enough to let you ride in and pay for all your expenses, you may probably hit the jackpot! But remember, this will not always be the case. Even she pays for your drinks all the time, your taxi ride when you have to meet her and clothes you wear when you go out are all not included in her regular treat.

Another savings drainer is a social climber (those ‘gimickera’ and ‘ambisosya’) friend who has passion for exclusive parties and elegant things which she can’t afford more than she has. But regardless of financial scarcities, they all find means in getting through the affluent crowd (whether they sell their stuff, take multiple jobs or even risk in taking loans). If you are friends with her, most likely you too will be tempted to do the same. Their motto is “Live life to the fullest” or “Pamper yourself”, even you can’t afford it.

Last savings drainer is those you are always financially troubled person. You are enslaved with her personal dilemma in finances and she must have borrowed from you. They often ask for your help and seldom pay you on time or she never pays you at all. The more you help her out, the more she became dependent on your generosity and concern. You might realize one day, you were able to lend her much more than you expected. It’s a good deed to help but make sure you will not be drowning to her reliance on you. Because of her constant money difficulties, you also now are experiencing personal financial mess. Remember, you can help yourself by helping her to be independent and helping yourself first. That is why in airplane safety measures, it is advised that all passengers with dependent individual with them (babies, kids and sick persons) should wear their masks first before putting the baby’s mask

3 – Good Citizen

Be careful of these friends who can never be trusted. They are low self-esteemed gossipers. They are not the brave and good nation heroes but they are those whose sole purpose to live, is be to be a whistle blower. They thought they gain trust and confidence to their friends by squealing every word you say. A good friend doesn’t need to be told that what you are sharing is a secret, if she is wise enough, she should know. She is never aware and concern whether by dropping what supposed to be a sensitive topic or comment, may cause disagreement or misdemeanour. You can spot this type of friend if she always have important stories and news from your common friend, and you always are aware what your other friends tells and think about you because she report to you all the time. She probably must have told them what you two are talking about them too. So, don’t be misguided and tricked by her.

2 – Negavibes

Businessman dislikes these people because they often start a fuss between the employees and management or worst, the misunderstanding will reach to an uprising. In finding a buddy, it is always best to hang out with persons who are lively happy and always see the goodness in life. You wouldn’t want to start your day joyful and end your day with rant because you were bombarded with problems, grievances and complaints to which you have no way and no authority of solving it. Making friends with this person will eat your happy heart out and dry it with torment of negativity.

1 – Back-biters

Opra Winfrey warns us from people who are backstabbers. If your friend bad mouths another person, Opra said, she’ll probably had bad mouthed you from other persons. So, it’s wise to never talk to these persons or never be friends with them at all. Back biters are absolutely judgemental (mostly negative judge arise from their mouth all the time), they are more like a back biter who analyzes everything you say and find mistakes with what you say and do, including your decisions. Their words are hurtful and the way they look at you from behind is like a stubbing samurai.

So there you go; the types of friends you should avoid.

Friendship is like a marrying someone, you should find someone you are compatible with. If you and your ex-friend whom you invested so much time and trust did not click with each other, keep a keen eye to your next expected future best friend. Check if they can do you good or just stressed you out. It pays well if you hang around with which people you are truly safe with.

Rona’s Must Watched Concert this March

The last time I watched and actually enjoyed a concert was way before I got married and relocated here in South Central Mindanao. Though a lot of concerts both and locals are also showcased here, none of those yet has made my feet giggle in excitement and spend a desperately save for the tickets. This year, I had to miss watching Evanescence! And here comes another must watched Philippine concert tour; like Evanescence, whom I grew up singing along with.

A Visit from a Knight

I hated tacky romantic music, though this Soul and RnB artist kind of flipped me out through his cheesy lyrics. He may have dreamy words in his songs but if you listen well, the lyrics perfectly describe what you exactly wanted to express but wasn’t able to put together better than his songs. Lyrics were simple but has deeper and brilliantly assembled. He is truly an artist not just with an art but with a passion.

Though I had the chance to watched and follow him on Donald Trump’s ‘Celebrity The Apprentice’, which by the way made me more admire him because he is such a gentleman and a man who knows to handle his principles but never got into an awful fight like all other apprentices who undergoes pressure and annoying situation. He has made me like him more. His firm but subtle, firm but still friendly, strict but still kind and a leader who exactly knows when to follow.

According to Click the City and Wikipedia, Brian is a multitalented artist who can literally play well in nine different instruments and basically belt and sing in wonderfully varied tones. He is has the most number of been nominations in Grammy’s, American Music Awards, Image Awards, MTV, Soul Train and other local awards back in USA.

He has also previous collaboration with famous artist such Mariah Carey, Vanessa Williams, Boyz II Men, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Justin Timberlake, Nelly, Rascals Flat, Mary J. Blige, Josh Groban, and the list may go on. Philippine’s Regine Velasquez has also worked with the respected Brian Mcknight; and now on his Philippine March 16, Regine’s talented young singer Angeline Quinto will have the chance to do the duets with the Knight. Bopping with The Hansons

Mmmmbop, badobidop, badooo... Yeheyey...

Wondering what the heck I am mumbling about? It’s the Hanson’s ever famous song. I remember taping the fun-filled and carefree music video of 3 young bothers. The video as if they were all having fun around and just cosily jamm’n together. I even got their cassette tape and I still play it to this day. I had wished years ago that they would come and visit our country. But worst speculations before (within the uprising of rebels and kidnapping in our country, few artists had the guts to hold concert events here), it has been a gossip they mocked Filipinos as monkey looking people. As a Hanson fanatic, I totally did not belied at all. I remember performing their classic mmmbop song in my English 101 subject as part of Literature activity. My classmates were all nice to jam with me and clap their hands as I perform Hanson’s mmmbopping music.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac formed the jumpy and jolly rock band from Oklahoma. With their youthful looks and jagged long hairs (who basically re-introduce the appreciation of long hair bohemian rocker look that time), which made young girls scream and giggle with the band. People was impressed of Zac’s drumming skills inspite of his being the youngest and smallest in the sibling’s band; while Taylor was able to handle an up and straight rocker image despite of his handsomely-lady-like feature. Isaac on the other hand has captured women by his quiet and manly gestures while strumming his guitar.

There had been rumours that Willie Revillame will appear on the legendary and Philippines’ longest running noon time show, Eat Bulaga, where that same show celebrated and comedian veteran Joey de Leon also hosts. To recollect on the past, there have been harsh and unfriendly exchange of words between the two; the rift eventually died out and turned into a showbizy (author’s term for alleged staged drama) reconciliation.

Wow! Getting cosy and close with the former rival? First, I suspected that the peace and make up stuff between the two was just a manly act from Joey. As I consider, Joey was plain innocent with his brave points of view in Willie’s past actions and Willie’s past controversial show. So, the well-respected veteran has nothing to be sorry and ask forgiveness about. So, when does the reconciliation happen? If Joey did not apologize for his actions and words he threw, in same way, I didn’t actually hear any regret or apology from Willie. He’s arrogance, thought he got away from it, but the audience (people who actually think and those are cannot be easily persuade from his melodramatic dumb words) knows Willie isn’t sincere. I knew in my heart that the “being friends”with Joey is just one of your sensationalized promotion of your egoistic self and career (see Willie? You are not the only one who knows to be over-the-top speaker lol. Anybody can). I grew up with Eat Bulaga, I had been admiring their wacky, well-thought, team-effort and funny shows since I was a little girl (I can’t even remember when was the very first time I had watched it. So literally, I grew with Eat Bulaga’s fam) . I wouldn’t want my only trusted noon time show be used for any self gratifying individual like Willie Revillame. I hope the Eat Bulaga Team both the management, staff, network and hosts sees my point. But when that time comes and people from Eat Bulaga didn’t thought about it and fell into Willie’s wicked pla, I’d rather suffer watch Vice Ganda sarcastically insult the audience or it’s co-hosts on the other channel.

After the death of Whitney Houston, a day before 2012 Grammy’s Award, support and condolences from people all over the world flooded the TV, internet, newspaper, radio stations and even cellular phone provider’s advisory. It seems as if Whitney and his family will all read and heard those messages. Whitney has been a big lost to music industry. Her voice is even known as golden, which nobody can perfectly copy what it seems a bold, elegant and angelic note. But then due to depression and drug use, her career slammed after her highest rise to stardom, which made her an icon of almost all icons today. Since her death, videos, photos and news filling in every screen on cable TV. Even her former voice coaches, physicians she just visited once, hairdresser, and even those who had just bumped in with the golden voice singer would came out on TV and speaks out, gasping a scene and a little fame from the death of Whitney. After her burial, more hidden issues are unravelling, including her daughter, ex-hubby, parents, closest friends and millions of dollars assets and money she left.

Celebrated singer Whitney Houston news is overwhelming. Even at school where I fetch my toddler after his class, knows about her death. Even at fish market, I could hear gossips about Whitney. Every cable channel and internet search engine I visit, it is expectedly another Whitney update. It is as if Whitney Houston is in our house, or everywhere I go, she is there.

I would funnily remember Whitney Houston usually on Gay Pageants or Singing competitions. Gays will strut gorgeous gowns and cheap impersonations of Whitney, pretending they have same divacious, divalific (author’s own term for very and extreme Diva) and delightful voice (now, I am smiling for I did see pageants like these for a dozen times!) as Whitney herself; while in singing competitions, there would always an aspiring Whitney Houston (though I never heard anyone who can sing like Whitney, hehehe).

About Whitney’s wealth, in my own opinion, I have to say that her only daughter, Bobbi Christina and her mom deserve the money and all properties her mom left as well as those Whitney’s new album and story sales (who knows if there will be a movie about the diva’s life in the near future? Her life must be pretty interesting). Or may be a portion of Whitney’s money can be given to a foundation which helps celebrities like her, who lost their ways because they were either blinded by fame and fortune, surrounded by unhealthy people, oppressed by pressure and suppressed by depression and unruly expectations. Though actors like her have a lot of money already, but they should be helped first because once they became famous they also instantaneously became models (let us all admit it, people look up to them whether consciously or unconsciously). This is like helping yourself to effectively help others. In this case these celebrities may help people who watch them, live a good and righteous life (or may be even close to goodness).

Life is fair or unfair? Fair, my friend. When does it become unfair? When you decide to take the wrong road, you’ll end up going back to same path and start all over again; or worst, you’ll be stuck and that’s the end of it! I am not a bible person, but I compare Whitney’s situation with David. David was a great King but eventually got caught in a war and grief between his sons and daughter, as well as a result of wars of our nation today. It was David to blame. It was his decision scheme to kill Batsheba’s husband and take her as a wife. The result of his action is more sorrowful than you can imagine. To add insult to the injury he made, her daughter was raped by her own son! See? It’s a ripple of our action. Same way, Whitney did. Her bad actions claimed her life. Even her daughter’s upbringing becomes different from what should have been. God gave her such wonder voice, but then He took it back for a reason, which should send her a message of refreshing and coming back to Him. But she didn’t. With the wrong persons around Whitney, misleading guidance, unappreciative people around, and devious antidepressant drugs made her life more miserable. My heart breaks to know she is a Sunday school girl like Marilyn Monroe. They both end up dead, which makes me think, will they be meeting in heaven? Or hell? Demi Moore and Britney Spears almost got away from death. Now, they have the chance to turn around and redeem their selves, which Whitney wasn’t able to make. She tried to make a comeback but it hadn’t realized. I was still hoping she didn’t killed herself. Unlike Michael Jackson, after his controversial case and accusations in the past, he was able to perform and sold a lot of concert tickets and amazingly lined up huge concert tours before he passed away unexpectedly. Because, according to TMZ days before Whitney’s death she had been quoting creepy bible verses; which made me think if she did committed suicide. I speculate she had been murdered or her case was an isolated case of disgraceful accident due to unprescribed meds.

This is the irony of life, you can have everything in life but then you will still feel empty inside.

Wherever you are Whitney, I hope you did enter Heaven’s gate.

Where is Bruce Willis?

Before the heist on Whitney Houston’s death, there was Demi Moore’s infamous 911 emergency. It was believed she overdosed with illegally prescribed medicines, unhealthy diet pills, misuse of stress relieving drugs, and even delinquent teenager’s pleasure – ‘whip it!’. The actress had messy days after her divorce to his May-December husband, Ashton Kurton.

All the depression Demi had gone through, the media was frantic of how Demi’s recent ex-hubby’s outlandish partying. On the other hand, what was Demi’s ex-hubby, Bruce Willis’ reaction to Demi’s misdemeanour 911 incident?

I am just wondering.

Where is Bruce Willis? Again?

After Whitney Houston’s death, a dozen of times Bruce Willis’ name was mentioned on news and every talk show, but the veteran actor was a bit aloof with all the media pips. He was just seen on Whitney’s last funeral service at Hope Baptist Church, New Jersey. The tribute speech he rendered was a bit too touching and inspirational that everyone started to cry and weep in loss for Whitney.

After the big movie hit,’The Bodyguard’, where Bruce played as an endearing and knight bodyguard for Whitney’s character; he had only few movie appearances since then. I once watched on TMZ a year or two ago that the respectable actor, in spite of his doubted talent, he experience a struggle. I think ‘The Storm’ (I wasn’t that sure if that was the title because it was ages ago), was the last movie I had seen Bruce as a lead. I then found out that he concentrated pursuing his passion in music and formed a band, which I only seen once perform on TV. On Whitney’s death I thought Bruce will finally break his silent career and make some noise. But, he is such a gentleman as he is, he never used the death of his friend for his career’s jumpstart. As a former co-actor and a close friend to Whitney, the only interview with Bruce media can play on air regarding the singer is his past interviews. Surely he never took advantage of this chance.

Dear Sir,

Good day!

This letter was supposed to be my letter complaint last year’s sluggish response of your provincial hospital as well as your community clinics. Since I hadn’t had the time to write immediately and I had doubts of whether should you have concern with your provincial area of responsibility, I did not let your office know soon. But since, a lot of things change lately as well as the new administration, and repeated incidents of bad governance on our provincial and municipal hospitals, I would greatly appreciate it if my complaint months ago will just be heard and responded by your office.

Last year, May 1; my brother has been bitten by a stray dog. We hurriedly went to a nearest hospital (a private one) to have him vaccinated. But we happen to cannot afford the anti-rabies vaccine then. As a good tax payer, we knew that a portion of those taxes are allotted for DOH. That’s is when we rushed to Polomolok Municipal Hospital where we were instructed that we must be receiving the vaccine from South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, which is about 40km away from our remote place. Before travelling that far, we did tried to all the community health centres but responses we got are of either there is no available anti-rabies vaccine, there were no doctors to see us (since doctors are only available on a schedule which we understood but how can we get prescription and buy a vaccine at an amount can afford!). It was already late afternoon, so we decided to go to the Provincial Hospital the next day. But when we got there, we were only entertained by a nurse who promised us that a doctor will soon attend us which she explained all the doctors were on a meeting. We did spend our whole afternoon till 4pm and no doctor showed up! We even missed our lunch and my brother who did not received any vaccine for over 24-hours already collapsed out of thirst, tiredness and hunger. We honestly have no extra money for food and as well transportation back home. The money we had was for the supposed cheaper vaccine shots the government offer. But he did not receive any! We were too desperate that day, we then went to a private clinic instead and had his 1^st shot. Our next problem was the succeeding shots. The provincial hospital nurse assured us that the next week we return, there will be available doctor to see us as well as cheaper vaccine. But sadly, same scenario happened, we were kept waiting from 8am till everyone in the hospital were gone. Since we have no enough money, we missed the 2^nd shots. We manage to produce the amount 2 weeks after the 1^st shot. What’s so disappointing is that we have friends who have easily received anti-rabies shots since they knew someone in the government. How about us? The ordinary taxpaying citizen who does not know anybody working at DOH? Money is so scarce that we decided to just let my brother be home at Manila instead. The money that was supposedly is paid for the 3^rd shot was use a fare going back to Manila (since he was only on vacation here). I borrowed money for my brother’s remaining anti-rabies vaccine shots to continue it at Manila. Because of the weeks missed for his shots, San Lorenzo Hospital doctors decided to repeat all the shots back to day 1. Which in our part is again a waste of time and burden in finding means? Luckily, at San Lorenzo Hospital, the amount I sent my brother for the remaining shots are enough to cover all 5 shots. Until now, I am still paying little by little the money I barrowed for the vaccine. I may not have barrowed that big amount if only your local offices and centres are systematic and responsible enough to take actions in cases like these. If San Lorenzo can be of so much efficient and timely, how come our government clinic s and hospitals here are not even concern of our financial and compassion needs? I am just wondering. I hope that you may further investigate and strengthen efforts regarding cases like these. You are a department that saves life. And emergencies like these must have timely response and has compassionate and considerate staffs.

I am truly hoping, that I may never hear the same complaint as I did and as well, as taking all life (like my brother’s life) with urgency and respect. I also hope that in the next months, more programs and literacy about rabies awareness as well as responsible keeping of pets must be implemented. My brother’s case is just one of the many incidents often neglected.

Raph & cousin Tala on Jackpot's 2nd Chritsmas with us

I am a dog lover. In fact, I still remember the names of all the dogs I had. My first dog was pure a golden retriever whom I truly adore for 13 years before resting in peace is Bar. He was brought home by my aunt whom amazingly is a well behave pet and never nibbled a slipper or a shoe. After Bar, my aunt gave me another dog which is a breed of an authentic Askal (A common term for breed of Philippine dog which are of medium size, and has thin fur and are only usually in colours white, brown, black or a misture f the 3 colours). We named him Ram, in honour of Gringo Honasan’s movement. I had no choice but to call the dog Ram because my uncle has high respect with the former military officer. Before Ram died, someone in our neighbour gave me a dog and I finally had the chance to name him. Since I was so frantic with the Rambo movie that time, of course I named him after the famous movie character. Then when I lived with my parents at Bulacan, my mama’s dog gave birth with 3 dogs and I totally asked for the most furry and adorable puppy. I then named him Alovera (used to be a famous shampoo brand), since her mom’s name is Shampoo and all the rest of Alovera’s siblings are also named from other shampoo brands, Palmolive and Sunsilk. I took a very long time before I had had another dog.

Then before I got pregnant, my hubbyness and I found a big-eyed, bald, stout and fat dog following us around. We looked for her owner for 2 days and even reported it to the nearest police stations around the place we found her. After few days, the dog’s fur grew longer than we expected and we finally realize it was a Shitzu breed then we decided to assumed ownership of her and started calling her Jackpot. Long before our son (Raph) came, we actually had a baby. We all gave her all the doggie stuff she needed: expensive shampoos and bath needs, dog food and supplements, pet vaccines and other dog vitamin boosters, and (oh boy can you believe it?!) cutie little clothes. Jackpot was a charm. She has been our dog for about 3 years but we lost her (or I really suspected someone stole her when we took a summer vacation at Manila). We did paired her to few shitzu breed dogs but all did not succeed in laying her down (hahaha, so way picky, she rather hang out with larger dogs whom all were too desperate to reach what should be reached hehehe). I actually grieved when Jackpot left us (maybe she wandered around new eligible pet owner, sob, sob). God, I missed Jackpot. I remember her bark every time she needs a pee or poop outside or her crazy censored act every time she feels so hot (lol. Creepy but missed).

After Jackpot, our former Pension house owner (which we rented for few months) gave a little Japanese Pitch puppy. The pension house caretaker insists in naming her Joross (after a newly rising Star circle Quest contestant’s name. But the real Joross was a guy, right?). Since the dog is a female, we name her Ruthie (after the name of my fave little smart kid at 7^th Heaven’s reruns). Okay, I decide the name of our 2 dogs but my hubbyness thought for the name of our son’s very tedious name Imagine, our son has to take a board exam and he has to write on his given name: Raph Marcus Venicio. And that is only the first name; he has to write my maiden name and my hubby’s family name! Whew! Talking about tediousness in writing ones name. Since we move often, and now, we aren’t allowed to have pets on our apartment (but I wonder why our compound is filled with different pets?!) ‘till now, Ruthie stays with my in laws’ house together with 5 other dogs (oh, I think there are only 3 dogs which includes Ruthie in that count; the rest were either given away or had been dead for old age reasons). We wished Ruthie can bear more high quality Japanese pitch puppies(even the only possible breed link is a full-blooded askal); Ruthie still hasn’t bore one at her 5^th year of existence (beauty queen lang na statement eh hehehe). I guess good breeds are hard to produce (hehehe).

If God willing, we are able to own a place of our own, I would love to have another dog like Jackpot. Or perhaps like Douglas (the famous humongous dog at Baguio City) who can keep us company when our dearest son decides to study on far universities from home (though that time will be a decade or more from now, who knows). After all, we can’t have a new one now; I have now paranoia about unexpected pet attack (might share you next time why I now fear dogs, not that I watch too much animal attack documentaries on cable. But the idea is freaking me out a bit).

Dogs are such fun company and never complains (if ever they did complain, they never bug so much you as man do). Truly dogs are man’s best friend. For now, we settled for a gold fish named Fishy (because Raph has asthma and a fish won’t cause any allergy). But sadly Fishy died last week; I’ll just buy new fish tomorrow, maybe a janitor fish or a fighting fish this time and name it... Guido – one of the character on Raph’s fave movie The Cars.

We all know Justin started humbly as an internet sensation youtube star. Until, he got where he is now, but oh boy Justin, I guess you can now afford to buy real LV. So you better stop using imitation products because you are now being followed with tons of eyes. If you can’t splurge on buying an authentic LV, screw it, please don’t attempt to wear fake items. How would you like your record album be distributed in piracy style?!

Team Marian vs. Team Karylle Revisited

I saw Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes this afternoon on GMA7’s Showbiz Central, who was excitedly promoting their new soap on the said channel. While Karylle has been back weeks from her international TV musical show at Singapore (applause to Karylle and all the Pinoy cast included on The Kitchen Musical) and trying to lean down to vice’s troop’s silliness on their new time slot of Showtime.

Heck, do people forgot what Marian and Dingdong did? Do they deserve happy ending? I wish. All is well that ends well, they said. I would not support such hypocorism. I wonder why Dingdong gave up a woman who finishes college at a good university (not just a cheap extension of an exclusive university), a cum laude grad, a true talent, modest and a good writer; over a rude and clumsy woman. I still cling to the facts that Karyle has never been dragged into a word mouth scandal while Marian has a bunch of videos showing her unfriendly and cruel mouth with her fans, PA’s and co-workers. Well, it must be love for Dingdong, he risked it all. As for Karylle, I hope she better find a man better than just a door bell. I guess Marian is obviously amusingly lively to be with than Karyle’s intelligent but boring ways.

Bianca Manalo John Prats – a Marian Dingdong in the Making

After weeks Bianca’s vehement denial on involvement on John Prats – Rachel Ann Go’s break uplast year, the two co-hosts (John and Bianca) were spotted several time hanging out (or as many suspected dating together). During interviews, Bianca even swore she has no special relationship with John.

I had never experienced being dumped by an ex just because of another girl, but I have untoward feeling to girls like Marian and Bianca. If in marriage, I presume they are the Kiridas; in movies they are the contrabidas. I know guys may fall out of love at times, but as a well-mannered woman, you should never take advantage of the breakup. If you really love each other then they should have waited the proper time and not flirt around during ones relationship. And what I didn’t like is that those women should have not foully denied and violently said a clear conviction if they are not able to stand what they supposed innocently exclaimed which they are not. Good thing for Karylle and Rachel, they learned early on that those guys don’t have enough balls to be a man. ‘Yaan nyo, sabi ni Oprah, they will surely experience same way your guys did to you. Thrice pa ang pain! ”Never trust a man who dumped her ex just for you, he will surely do it with you again..”

Demi Moore Ashton Kutcher

Reports said veteran actress overdosed herself with unprescribed drugs which includes cheap inhaling whip it to expensive dietary pills. Her alleged break out is due to her divorce with long time husband Ashton Kutcher. With almost 2 decades apart from their age, the two fell inlove and got married but eventually got lost in the way. Kutcher was accused of womanizing younger women that lead Ms. Demi to try hard to keep up with Ashton’s age. Before the break down scandal, few photos of Demi show a very thin and unhealthy figure. Early last year, Demi also had people talking when she took photos of herself in bathing suits inside a bathroom and posting it on twitter.

Who says, age doesn’t matter? It really is. It is obvious that Demi was so stressed in keeping up with Ashton’s era and taste. Though Demi at her age is still visually appealing and gorgeous, she still felt she is lacking. People had rudely called her cougar (though as most people view the “cougar”word is a positive address to successful and still pretty woman who’s in their 40’s); she became too depressed and substantially ill. I was right then, Ashton is a jerk, nobody realized that until what she did with Demi.

Kris Aquino’s Promise is a Promise to Break

In the recent interview with Kris, she promised that she won’t enter in a new relationship. She tactlessly told credible and respected showbiz journalist that her sisters are surely happy and hoping she’ll keep her promise. Knowing herself well and realizing that she can’t keep her uttered words to keep, she swiftly added that her promise of being single is just for a while and maybe sometime next year she’d be happy to open her heart again.

As expected, Kris can’t live without someone to #@$@$#$#% her heart! She’s such a brat that she totally knew her family would still love her unconditionally regardless how reckless her decisions are. I used to hate Kris a lot when I was younger, but when I got married and had kids, I kind of feel for her. And the fact i enjoyed her shows because she puts a lot of hard work, research and effort in being a talk show host. She always makes her show fun even in the most boring topic and most annoying guest her shows have. But in talking about her personal life and the way she decide her life – she is a total wreck. I hope she finally listen to her siblings and learn the value of ‘marriage’. The old famous saying has deeper meaning than it seems, “Ang pag-aasawa ay di parang kaning isusubo na pagnapaso pwedeng iluwa”. Marriage is too hard and complicated to understand. As a married person and with a 4-year-old son, yes, there may have times I wished I can just walk out of it and give up. But the essence of marriage does not base only if how long had been the couple had been happy or how frequent does the two fight. It is not a plain agreement that both must always felt that same sparking feeling they both felt before they commit themselves together. Phase after phase of marriage, it must really come to the point of surviving together despite of differences and painful moments together. (Except of course, it will be another story if fidelity issue hahaha! ) I hope Kris realizes that and must accept that what is marriage is.
