This totem is housed, along with two others, in the lobby of the Trade and Convention Centre.
Originally they stood in Stanley Park but were relocated to avoid further exposure to the elements.

This is a bi-product of a trip downtown to hear a concert at the CBC.

The streaking through the centre of the shot is the Skytrain.

My sensor was shockingly dirty as it turned out.

I did my best to clone out the worst spots.

After lifetimes of no street food for sale in Vancouver things have changed.

At first it was hot dogs and the mysterious 'tube steak' (as if hot dogs were't mysterious enough).

Now, you name it and there's a truck, trailer or cart, that sells it.
By the look of this truck, the grilled cheese sandwich racket is more lucrative than I'd have thought.

Thus far 'we' are not tired of photographing Tymac's dock.
I think the white balance in this shot is a tad off.
The lights on the Lions Gate Bridge, in the distance, should look white.

The Carrall Street Flea Market sets up between Hastings and Cordova each Sunday.

This is, without any exaggeration, Canada's poorest neighbourhood.

I would judge that much of the 'merchandise' sold here has been retrieved from dumpsters and such.

I gather many passengers are MLAs*, miscellaneous minsters, deputy ministers and the like.
A return trip (35 minutes one way) would cost about $600.00.
The common man gets to the island on BC Ferries.

Not a comparison but an interesting note: a senior taking transit to and from the ferry terminals Monday to Thursday could make the one-way trip for about $4.00.

My photography course is a night class.

We had to do one daytime session to cover portraiture in natural light.

Sunday was the (grey and rainy) day.

There were 4 models.

I learned quite a lot.

i.e., I'm not very comfortable with portrait photography.

As a rule I wouldn't go out on a rainy night to take pictures.

But there were photo class assignments I thought I might knock off at the same time so I went.

I didn't get anything remarkable but it was a surprise to see how many people braved the rain.

I was about 7 meters from this heron.

But it was frustrating to only have a 50mm lens. (equal to 75mm on my camera)
