Hooray! Registration is now open for our early-2018 workshops! In addition to our signature calligraphy workshop, Introduction to Contemporary Pointed Pen Calligraphy, we have also added more sessions of our fun and colorful Introduction to Modern Brush Lettering class!

This winter you’ll find us returning to Washington, DC (teaching at Typecase Industries), Alexandria (teaching at Common Room Studio), Falls Church (teaching at Stylish Patina’s Mosaic District shop), Baltimore (teaching at Becket Hitch) and Charlottesville (teaching at rock, paper, scissors). We can’t wait to be back in these inspiring spaces and are so excited to meet and bring the fun of pointed pen calligraphy and modern brush lettering to even more students!

If you’ve taken part in either of our Intro classes in the past, we hope to see you at one (or more!) of our three upcoming Calligraphy Study Table sessions. And exclusively for our past pointed pen students, be sure to check out our Continuing with Contemporary Pointed Pen Calligraphy workshop.

As we begin our seventh (!) year sharing our passion with our students, we hope that you will be able to join us for a modern pointed pen calligraphy workshop or a modern brush lettering workshop (or both!). Hooray! New dates have just been posted for our calligraphy workshops. Our summer Introduction to Contemporary Pointed Pen Calligraphy classes will be held in three fabulous Washington, D.C. locations: The Loft at 600 F near the Verizon Center and at The Lemon Bowl, pictured above, a maker space in the Park View neighborhood of the city, as well as in the crazy cool Garage Room of the chic Embassy Row Hotel in Dupont Circle. We will also be returning to Falls Church, Virginia to teach at Stylish Patina’s Rough Luxe Warehouse, to Middleburg, Virginia to teach at the Middleburg Events Studio, to Charlottesville, Virginia to teach at rock paper scissors.

Now that we are well into our fifth year of teaching these classes, we continue to feel so thankful for the chance to share our love for calligraphy with our students and encouraged by the feedback we receive from them. A few of the kind notes we’ve received lately:

We were absolutely thrilled to see one of our recent collaborations with Charlottesville, Va.-based stationery designers Rock Paper Scissors featured in the Spring 2016 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings’ Real Weddings and Honeymoons magazine! The invitation suite that Rock Paper Scissor’s Dani Antol designed for Kelsey and Casey’s destination wedding in Nassau, Bahamas was truly gorgeous and we were honored to have our Palmer lettering style incorporated into the invitation itself, as well as adorning the invitation envelopes and the seating cards. Seeing our collab in print was the icing on the cake!

We were completely over the moon when Martha Stewart Weddings asked us to contribute the calligraphy to illustrate one of the features in their Winter 2016 issue. The feature, called Tying The Knot, shares several ideas for incorporating knots into your Big Day, and our calligraphy (in our Richardson lettering style) is sprinkled through eight full pages, including on the boutonniere labels, the place cards, the “est. 2016” favor tags and, most prominently, on the oversized, crimson, knot-shaped escort cards. So exciting!

Late last year, I had the privilege of collaborating with our friend Christina at Paperzest to help create the paperie and other signage for a gorgeous styled shoot which is now featured in the Winter 2016 issue of Weddings Unveiled. The shoot, which was photographed by Elizabeth Fogarty Photography, styled by Cheers Darling Events and featured lush florals by Holly Heider Chapple, is an absolute must-see. For the paper and signage, we focused on copper, fig and hunter green, and Christina incorporated my Reese lettering style into all of the various pieces. I even brought to life her vision of having a seating chart lettered on a sheet of real copper! Totally divine!!
