A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an
urgent surgery. He reached to the hospital, wore his OT gown and went directly to the emergency operation room (OR).

He found the boy's father pacing in
the hall waiting for the doctor. On seeing him, the dad yelled: "Why did you take all this time to come? Don't you know that my son's life is in danger? Don't you have any sense of responsibility?"

The doctor smiled & said: "I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital & I came as fast as I could
after receiving the call. And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I
can do my work".

"Calm down? What if your son was in this room
right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will you
do?" said the father angrily.

The doctor smiled again &
replied: "I will say what God said in the Holy Book "From dust we came
& to dust we return, blessed be the name of God". Doctors cannot
prolong lives. Go & intercede for your son, we will do our best by
God's grace".

And without waiting for the
father's reply he carried on his way running. "If you have any questions,
will you please ask the nurse?"

"Why is he so arrogant? He couldn't wait some
minutes so that I can ask about my son's condition" commented the father when
seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.

The nurse
answered, tears coming down her face: "His son died yesterday in a road
accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son's
surgery. And now that he saved your son's life, he left running to
finish his son's burial."

"Never put our own needs in front of others because we never know how others life is & what they're going through". This might be the morale of the story. There are many other morale of the story too.

Before you can grow up, you must fall in love three times...

Once, you must fall in love with your best friend, ruining your
friendship forever. This will teach you who your true friends are, and
the fine line between friendship and more.

Once you must fall
in love with someone you believe is perfect. You will learn that no one
is perfect, and that you should never be treated as anything less than you deserve.

And once, you must fall in love with someone that is exactly like you.
This will teach you about who you are, and who you want to be.

And when you’re through with all that, you learn that the people who
care about you the most are the ones that you hurt, and the ones that
hurt you are the ones that needed you the most.

But most of
all, you learn that love is only a concept and is not something that can
be defined, it is different to each and every person on this universe,
knowing that everyone wants to love and be loved.

Good Health

“So tell me what happened.”, “So
how does that make you feel?”, and
“I understand it must be very
difficult for you.” (That's BS for
you ;D)

12- You have a peak moment in life

13- You’re content knowing that you
actually do lead a normal and sane
life. Even if it’s just a few hours in a
day, while you’re asleep. (Hahaha..)

14- You’re completely socially retarded
when you hang out with non-medics
as you don't know what to talk
about besides your miserable life as
a medical student. (Oh no...)

15- You don’t understand why
summer vacation is only one month,
although summer itself is three
months. (Yeah loh)

16- You wash your hands after meals
and the loo using the 10-step
technique. (Not.. YET)

17- You’re secretly happy that the
really smart guy stopped medical
school and start complotting who
next to eliminate. Just so the normal
distribution skews to the left so you
won’t fail. (*evil smirk*)

18- Your roommate, housemate,
neighbour, boyfriend, girlfriend, any
close friends and practically
everybody are not spared from
being your simulated patient.

that you can catch up on your
readings.

more-than-two-days-weekend-
break, which is at least 4 months
away (Normally... YES...)
when...

1- You take forever explaining to people how long you'll be in school for, and realise you’ll get a medical doctor title the same time your friend gets a PhD doctor title.

2- You contemplate anything between dropping out and suicide after you finish each exam, even
before knowing the results.

3- You get depressed and emotional just thinking about how bad a doctor you’ll become in a few years.

4- You answer every question with, “Hmm (pretending to think for a second), I don’t know.” And you
know the most correct answer is, “It depends, sir.”

5- You diagnose every single abnormality on yourself/family/ friends as a life-threatening condition. You think the tiny haematoma on your finger is a risk for PE (Pulmonary Embolism). (In due time XD)

6- You watch House and ER, and think you can score in the exams and get through medical school. Wrong, only Dr.Wikipedia helps.

7- You instantly feel that you want to bang your head against the wall whenever someone says “You’re a medical student? You must be very smart then!” because it’s an unbearable accusation. (SO TRUE)

8- You work out so that you get a six pack, so that you will make a good simulated patient for the seniors. (Interesting..)

9- Your friend/cousin zooms in front of you with his brand new car and treats you to lunch with his own paycheck and on top of that, talks about property and houses to buy. And you’re still struggling to buy second hand reference books. (T.T)

10- You have exams in a few days and when you try doing practice questions, you don’t know what to do with your pen besides underlining the key words in the question.
When
things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a
day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of
coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had
some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked
up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with
golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles (gravel) and poured them
into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open
areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the
jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up
a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up
everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students
responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced
two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents
into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The
students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter
subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children,
your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything
else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else--the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into
the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the
golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and
energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that
are important to you.

'Pay attention to the things that are
critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get
medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There
will always be time to clean the house an d fix the disposal. Take care
of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,

Once there was a very good Doctor who was famous for his wonderful ability to diagnose whatever his patients had and what medicine to give them to heal them. From all over people came to him for this wonderful ability of his, until one day a patient walked in and the doctor, much to his distress, could not tell what this patient was suffering from and how to treat him.

Desperate the doctor asked this patient to wait for him and ran out to his spiritual master. He told his spiritual master what had just happened to him and asked for advice.

"You have nothing to worry about" - said the master, "You just have developed to another level and now you do not need anymore to know what your patient is suffering from. All you need to do is to put your hand on your patients and they will heal!"

The doctor ran back home, put his hands on the patient who waited for him, and indeed the patient got healed.

In the following years, sick people came from all over the world and the doctor put his hands on them and they got cured. The doctor got rich and happy until one day a patient came in, the doctor put his hands on him and nothing happened.

Again the doctor ran to his spiritual master, told him what have happened and asked for his advice.

"You have nothing to worry about" - said the master, "You just have developed to another level and now you do not need anymore to put your hands on your patients in order to heal them. All you need to do is to look straight into your patients'eyes and they will heal!"

The doctor ran back home, looked straight into the patient's eyes, and indeed the patient got healed.

In the following years, sick people came from all over the world and the doctor looked straight into their eyes and they got cured. The doctor got richer and happier until one day a patient came in, the doctor looked straight into his eyes and nothing happened.

Again the doctor ran to his spiritual master, told him what had happened and asked for his advice.

"You have nothing to worry about" - said the master, "You just have developed to another level and now you do not need anymore to look straight into your patients' eyes in order to heal them. All you need to do now is to sit calmly in the beautiful home that you have built for yourself and open up to get thoughts of people who need your help, think about them and they will heal!"

In the following years the doctor would sit every day in his beautiful working room and open himself up to get thoughts of sick people from all over the world who needed his help, and he thought about them and they got cured. The doctor didn't get money for that, but by now he didn't need the money and he was happy to be able to help so many people, until one day while he was sitting in his room, nothing happened. He could not get a single thought from anyone.

Again the doctor ran to his spiritual master, told him what have happened and asked "And what level is it now?"

"You have nothing to worry about" - said the master, "You just have developed to the highest level, you are now cured yourself and you do not need to heal anyone anymore."

"A doctor, like anyone else who has to deal with human beings, each of them unique, cannot be a scientist; he is either, like the surgeon, a craftsman, or, like the physician and the psychologist, an artist. This means that in order to be a good doctor a man must also have a good character, that is to say, whatever weaknesses and foibles he may have, he must love his fellow human beings in the concrete and desire their good before his own."

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man couldn’t hear the band – he could see it. In his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, “Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you to see this wonderful life.”

Heart Touching Story of a man who lost his one-eyed mother

My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment.

My mom ran a small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell... anything for the money we needed she was such an embarrassment.

There was this one day during elementary school.

I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school..."Your mom only has one eye?!" and they taunted me.

I wished that my mom would just disappear from this world so I said to my mom, "Mom, why don't you have the other eye?!

You're only going to make me a laughingstock. Why don't you just die?" My mom did not respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, it felt good to think that I had said what I'd wanted to say all this time.

Maybe it was because my mom hadn't punished me, but I didn't think that I had hurt her feelings very bad.

That night...I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. My mom was crying there, so quietly, as if she was afraid that she might wake me.

I took a look at her, and then turned away. Because of the thing I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my mother who was crying out of her one eye. So I told myself that I would grow up and become successful, because I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty.

Then I studied really hard. I left my mother and came to Seoul and studied, and got accepted in the Seoul University with all the confidence I had. Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I'm living happily as a successful man. I like it here because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom.

This happiness was getting bigger and bigger, when someone unexpected came to see me "What?! Who's this?!" ...It was my mother...Still with her one eye. It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me.

My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye.

And I asked her, "Who are you? I don't know you!!!" as if I tried to make that real. I screamed at her "How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!" And to this, my mother quietly answered, "oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared.

Thank good ness... she doesn't recognize me. I was quite relieved. I told myself that I wasn't going to care, or think about this for the rest of my life.

Then a wave of relief came upon me...one day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. I lied to my wife saying that I was going on a business trip.

After the reunion, I went down to the old shack, that I used to call a house...just out of curiosity there, I found my mother fallen on the cold ground.

But I did not shed a single tear. She had a piece of paper in her hand.... it was a letter to me.

She wrote:
"My son...
I think my life has been long enough now. And... I won't visit Seoul anymore... but would it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me once in a while? I miss you so much. And I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I decided not to go to the school.... For you... I'm sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an embarrassment for you.

You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with only one eye... so I gave you mine...I was so proud of my son that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did. The couple times that you were angry with me. I thought to myself, 'it's because he loves me.' I miss the times when you were still young around me.

I miss you so much. I love you. You mean the world to me. "

My world shattered!!!

Then I cried for the person who lived for me... My Mother.
