Breaking The Mythical Terror Barrier

Amazingly enough, we have been mentally programmed to believe that there is some kind of invisible wall that stops us from going any further in our lives, the mythical terror barrier. Have you noticed it? As soon as you begin to step closer towards any goal that you’ve set, you begin to get these butterflies in your stomach, a feeling of nervousness begins to overcome you, and you begin to doubt if the next step you take is going to be the right one.

I want to share a personal situation that has happened recently in my life in which I had to confront this terror barrier head on. A situation that many would steer away from, say to themselves “Oh, that’s insane! I would be nervous about what would happen.”

For years, I believed in my heart that there was more to life than what was happening around me. That someone had placed us here for greatness, and not for living a life of lack and fear.

This terror barrier kept me from moving forward, but in my mind, I knew there was much more.

Throughout my life, I was viewed as someone that had just a bit more courage to do certain things. I would unconsciously take risks that others viewed terrifying. Financial, personal, emotional, and even spiritual risks that thankfully made me the person I am today.

But even though I lived a bit more risky than others, still there it was, a terror barrier that simply HAD to be broken. It was the only way to move forward.

And I was determined! A bit hard headed too. But that hardheadedness drove me to see and experience things and opportunities that others were simply too afraid to accomplish.

You see, I believe strongly in my heart that LIFE is wonderful. No matter what the news, media, television, or nay other source can possibly tell you. Life is strictly what YOU make it out to be.

But what about this terror barrier? The fear we all have inside of taking the next step? The fear of “what if”?

A Huge Step Closer To My Terror Barrier

Taking a leap of faith is probably the most difficult thing a person can do. We are mentally programmed to fear chances, unknown opportunities, unseen incredible results from the possibilities that lie ahead.

But in reality, the terror barrier that we so view as some 100 foot wall that we must climb, dig under, or break through, in reality, simply is the door to freedom.

A door that because we don’t know what lies on the other side, we refuse to open in fear that we won’t like or feel as not worthy enough to receive. So we stop directly in front of it, look left and right, up and down, and say to ourselves “Oh well, I guess this is how far I go!”

If only we looked a little deeper into this terror barrier, realizing that backwards would be the norm for many, and that it took a lot of effort to even get to this terror barrier, why would ANYONE want to quit when we’re only “3 feet from gold”?

Recently, and practically everyday as an entrepreneur, I face this terror barrier head on. But the latest event in my life was probably one of the largest terror barriers that I’ve had to break through.

As a husband, father, brother, son, and follower of CHRIST, I felt the heavy burden of responsibility being carried on my shoulders. I continuously feel that I have a mission to accomplish in this life in order for me to move on peacefully when it’s my time to go.

As a younger man, noticed I said “younger” , I had chosen a career that I believed at the time would open new doors, provide an abundant future, and give me the sense of accomplishment I needed to continue moving forward.

But as the years past, that career decision seemed to become doubtful in accomplishing any of my goals. Doors began to close, opportunities for advancement began to shrink, and my life was slowly spiraling down financially.

“What to do”, I thought. “Should I make a career change this far into my life? What if it doesn’t work out? What if I am seen as a joke? What if my family does not give their approval?”

These were just some of the thoughts running through my mind. The terror barrier was getting larger and larger as the years went by. But the time had come.

It Was Time To Break Through This Terror Barrier

The time for me to make a decision, either to sink to the bottom or swim like a dolphin! But in order to swim, I had no choice but to break through this non-existent terror barrier I had created in my mind for years and years.

After working a career of 18 years, I finally did it! I broke the terror barrier! I walked up to my boss at the time and explained to him my decision.

I can still see his face in amazement as I told him not only that I was leaving my 18 year career, but leaving it for the network marketing industry.

The man looked at me as if I had three eyes! LOL

But this was a decision I strongly felt was, and still is, my calling. The opportunity I needed to move forward towards my dreams and vision of giving my family the absolute best life they can possibly have!

And here I am today, sitting in my home office, writing you this article so that YOU too can see that this so-called terror barrier is a myth, something created to scare YOU into being complacent to what you have and feeling as if you don’t deserve any better.

You deserve SO MUCH MORE! You are not limited to your outside circumstances. You are not limited to the opinions of others. And you are not held back to accomplish ANYTHING you want to accomplish in your life!

Break through this terror barrier just as I did, and move forward to a better life, a better YOU!

But let me share a little team building ideas secret about Twitter…it’s not how fast you deliver content, it’s how relative your content is to your targeted followers.

If you’ve created an account in order to join the fad of “who’s got the most following”, then you’re truly wasting your time. Here’s a couple of team building ideas that will allow you to get the most out of Twitter’s fast-paced environment:

1. Determine who you want to view your content – Using a simple tool like “Twitter Search” can allow you to search specific keyword phrases that you think your audience would be potentially interested in. Start to build a relationship with the people you find by simple starting a conversation. If you’re able to hold that conversation, then there’s a very good chance that you’ve just found a potential customer or business partner. But that doesn’t mean to automatically start spamming that person. Remember, these are team building ideas, not people scaring ideas.
2. Locate others on Twitter with a higher influence – Find others in your same industry that have already developed a larger targeted following and begin to give them a little recognition. Simply put, RT (re-tweet) their content and add comments as to how valuable you have found their content to be. also, using a simple tool such as “TwitterFeed” can allow you to automate this process and automatically re-tweet that person’s website content using their RSS feed.
3. Socialize! Isn’t that what these sites were made for? – OK, even I’m guilty of this. Sometimes we get so caught up in our process of team building that we forget to take the time to sit back at the virtual pub (social media) and throw back a few cold ones with a few friends. You see, when people get to know you for who you REALLY are, they tend to build a level of confidence with you. A level that can determine a successful relationship with a potential customer and/or business partner. 4. You’re end goal should be to get on a 1-on-1 chat – This team building strategy works with every social media site available. If you are able to lead that new friend or follower over to a more personal chat using yet another powerful tool called “Skype”. Skype is yet another FREE resource I personally use to finalize my personal introduction and allow the person to actually chat with someone in the field or niche they are interested in. So you’ve probably notice that Facebook is a completely different form of socializing. You have tons of more options for others to get to know you…photos, videos, complete history of employment, so on and so forth. But what most forget is exactly that, Facebook CAN NOT be treated like Twitter. There is no posting as much content as physically possible on order to get noticed.

Get involved! – As a business owner or just your average person browsing the social media world, the worst thing you can do is to remain quiet in a room FULL of people anxious to chat and learn more about you. It might feel strange at first, but replying to someone’s status update, “liking” a few posts here and there, and even using a bit of humor is the best way to allow others to get to know you. Remember, the best team building ideas come from socializing, either online or offline. So don’t be that person at a party that likes to hold up the wall with a drink in their hand. Get out there and mingle!!!
2. Make them want to say “Hmm….” – I’ve followed several people in my same industry online and there are a few that simply stand out from the rest. The reason is simple…the know how to make others think by posting controversial posts (and no, that doesn’t mean vulgar posts), but making an open-ended comment that would want to make others reply to it, eventually leading to an entire conversation around that subject. Team building ideas is not only about “business chat” but also about topics that people can simply relate to.
3. Always lead by example – Being that Facebook is more interactive that Twitter, the time for someone to really get to know you and/or your business is steadily available, IF you can capture their attention. Properly using team building ideas such as simply socializing can be very profitable. But if you’re looking into chatting with as many people possible in your niche, ALWAYS lead by example. Don’t just chat about what you know or how profitable your business is (IF the subject comes up), but give them proof. 4. Again, you’re goal here should also be to drive a person to a 1-on-1 chat – Just as in the Twitter strategy above, your objective should be to eventually have a personal 1-on-1 chat with that new friend and truly get to know them. This also allows them to get to know more about you and what’s actually driving you to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Using the same tool mentioned above (Skype), make a very good “first impression” and create that powerful new business connection.

It’s 11.27 am. A message comes in to my BlackBerry from someone posting something on my Facebook wall. I’m assuming he think he’s using social media marketing correctly.

As I look at my phone, it automatically opens to the most recent message and to my horror…. “Nice to meet you! Hey, would you like to become the next President? Just invest into my business opportunity and you could win one GAZILLION bucks!”

WTF!!!

Has social media marketing hit a brick wall at 100mph?

It sure seems as if! With all the social media marketing training online and off, with bloggers like myself and sooooo many others posting content on what NOT to do on social media, is it THAT HARD to follow some simple directions?

Ahhh! (Pardon my rant, but it’s gotta be done, AGAIN!)

So what is it that we constantly recommend to do as far as social media marketing goes and why are we so teeed off at still seeing the same SPAM going on online?

Breaking Social Media Marketing Down For The Dummies

Take this with a grain of salt if you would, but not following these SIMPLE, yet powerful laws of social media marketing etiquette, you might as well just go back to your full-time J.O.B. and forget about building 7-figure relationships using social media.

2. Always, ALWAYS, lead with value – If you’re goal on Facebook is to post content you’ve created, make it so that others find your content easy to read, easy to understand, and valuable in nature. Don’t just post a link to a landing page on Facebook without giving someone a VERY GOOD reason to click on your link. All you are ding at this point is wasting your time.
3. Don’t Be Shy And Mingle – If you’re not looking at social media as a virual form of a party, then you’re looking at this form of marketing completely wrong. Specifically Facebook with all the recent buzz going around about it, is just a HUGE party that goes on 24/7. But if you’re the type of person that goes to a party just to hold up the walls in the joint, you’re not going to socialize and make any friends online. Start making conversation NOT RELATIVE to your business and see just how simple it is to build long lasting business relationships.
4. “Tell Me More About My Eyes!” - People LOVE to hear more about themselves than they do about you. So be sure to appeal to everyone’s likes and build conversations around specific interests people have. You’d be amazed at how astonished someone will become if you can only remember just ONE simple thing that this person likes and bring it to their attention. It’s like giving flowers to a total stranger, you’ve just made their day!

Are You Buying Into A Business Or Buying Into Another Job?

Never looked at it as another job, did you? Most people that join a home based business don’t.

It’s a tough world out there guys, and most of you already know that. It takes some serious mental focus these days at keeping from going absolutely insane with all the financial problems most have to deal with daily.

• who’s going to watch my kids if I have to work another job?
• how much am I going to be making working part time and is it even worth it?
• does anyone even care about just how much I’m busting my ass daily to try and make ends meet?

All these question and a ton more are what’ driving people to look for a plan B, something that’s legit, will put more food on the table, and might even be something that can bring the things they always wanted out of life (mainly freedom).

But there’s on thing in particular that won;t allow the majority to move any further than where they are financially today.

It’s the mindset folks!

It’s what’s between your ears that will keep the majority in the same boat to financial disaster that they’re currently in without a life jacket.

So let’s begin this venture into how you can start defining and attracting ONLY those that will benefit and are looking for exactly what YOU have to offer.

Step #1 - Begin By Asking Yourself “Who Would Need This And Why?”

• Start thinking outside the box. Do research on what someone would clearly define as a benefit in what your product or service has to offer. Find out what pain or pleasure this person is feeling and clearly understand how what you have to offer can become that person’s solution. Remember, those that read your ads whether online or offline are actual people. So begin to implement your thoughts and actions as if YOU were that person seeking what it is that you specifically have to offer.

Step #2 – Fully Focus Your Specific Promotion Strategy On Them

• Don’t bounce around in our sales process. If you’ve gone as far as defining exactly who would want what it is that you offer, stay the course and keep their wants and needs in your marketing efforts ALWAYS as a means to remind them of their problems and how YOU are going to be their solution provider. If you can clearly state their problem and how what you have has become a solution to this problem of theirs to so many others, including yourself, the odds of that person becoming extremely interested in your services will increase dramatically. (Remember: Stay focused on their needs and fulfill them. The ONLY service we provide as marketing and sales professionals is the ability to provide someone with a solution to their biggest problems or concerns.)

And that’s all Folks!!!

Your promotion strategy should be one of seeking exactly what a person’s needs and wants are and YOU becoming their solution provider, THAT’S IT!

Two Myths Of Making Money Online Debunked And Resolved

My goodness, can there be anymore information about making money online? Really! Geeez!!!

Even as a marketing coach, taking a few minutes to do some research on any topic that has to do with making money online just flat-out gives me a headache.

Now I can imagine most of you entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs doing the same:

1. Going to Google,
2. Typing in a certain keyword to research,
3. And getting spammed with everyone and their mother saying “The BEST Marketing Strategy For Driving A Shit-Load Of FREE Traffic And Making A Gazillion Bucks Online!!!” Blah, Blah, Blah…..

People, this gets old, QUICK!

But if you’re searching on  making money online, just WHO do you listen to?

Ahh! The ALL powerful question everyone wants an answer to.

So, in favor of my absolutely fabulous readers (Yes, that was some serious Ass-Kissing there!) , I will do my best to debunk the myths of making money online within this very post.

So stay with me here.

Making Money Online Without Providing Value

Here’s myth #1, “I can just announce my business opportunity to everyone everywhere and I’ll be making a ton of money!!!”

B.S.! If this is what you’ve been told, the sad truth is you’ve been lied to. (I know this might offend some, but guess what, I DON’T CARE!)

In my opinion, this has been the absolute BIGGEST lie told online by those that say they’re making money online, when in fact, they’re BROKE!

They’re telling you these lies in order for you to either join or purchase some lame product they claim to be the best thing next to sliced bread.

Pitiful!!!

The truth is simple: You must do your research and find out WHO online among the tons of professional (or so-called professional) marketers and bloggers who are actually providing a service that is working TODAY, not yesterday, not last year, but TODAY!

HOW? Simple.

1. Look at who they are actually acquainted with,
2. Who they’re Entourage is, and
3. Who they follow as mentors.

The best way to do so is simply add them or follow them on social media. Check out they’re updates and what they have to offer to the world. Then simply ask yourself:

• Does this person seem as someone knowledgeable?
• Is this someone I can relate to?
• Is there anyone else that can give you some insight about that particular person and what they have done for them?

In my experience, this has been the absolute BEST way to find out if this person is someone I’d like to learn more about making money online.

It’s led me to a ton of great friendships, mentors, and communities online that have helped me move from complete novice to a somewhat knowledgeable coach. (Just because I don’t like to boast about myself)

So now let’s go ahead and debunk myth #2 about making money online.

Making Money Online Without Socializing

Alright, so here’s making money online myth #2 – “I don’t have to socialize with anyone. All I have to do is write ads all day on all types of site, including social media, and I’ll be RICH!!!”

B.S. lie #2!!!

Any business, whether your online, offline, selling socks, washing cars, making coffee, etc.., you absolutely MUST socialize.

Guys and gals, people are not robots. People are…well…PEOPLE!

Just like you wouldn’t like to be thrown products and services at you, others don’t appreciate it as well.

We all like the freedom and comfort of making our own decisions, especially when it has to do with our personal finances.

Making money online is no different. You must become a social butterfly and learn how to mingle, just like you would in a party.

Don’t become the person online that is mainly a ghostly apparition. Make your appearances online on a regular basis.

Now if you’re a lot like me (busy as all get out!!!), making appearances online can seem a bit overwhelming. But it all comes down to time management.

If you’ve developed a strong following online as a leader, and are providing value ALWAYS, then your reader will understand when there has been some time between updates and posts. (Nice! Did you notice how I added that “sorry for the huge delay” in there?) hehe

Are you starting to get the picture here?

1. Do your research and find AUTHENTIC leaders in the making money online niche,
2. And become social online.

Simple? I thought so! But don’t think this is all there is to creating a profitable business that you can leverage and pass on to future generations.

It take a bit, well more like a ton, of more work than just that. But these are very strong forms of foundations to build your making money online business on.

That’s why most people will call them outcast because they think either they’re weird, they live in this LA-LA land when everything is pink and rosy, and just don’t fit in. Well let me tell you something, Albert Einstein was classified just that, A WEIRDO! Yet he became the greatest mind in this world. Why? Differentiating Urgent Vs Important Daily Tasks In Your Home Business

Urgent vs Important. This has always been an issue when you’re trying to manage the one-hundred-and-one tasks you assign yourself in this home business industry.

But the frightening part is, only about 3% of entrepreneurs know how to differentiate between urgent vs important.

Checking your emails, staring at Twitter and Facebook for hours, organizing your desk, positioning your phone just right so to be ready to call those leads you’ve been dreading to call, etc.

These, among a ton of others, are tasks we ALL have to deal with throughout our days, weeks, months, and years in this industry.

But separating these menial tasks down to the bear minimums and sorting them by urgent vs important, you’ll see a HUGE change in the things you’re actually FINISHING compared to those things that SHOULD HAVE been completed yesterday.

So for all of you struggling with knowing what tasks to do first, second, third, and so on, I’ll break down a very simple strategy to getting the most out of your days as a home business entreprenuer.

Breaking Down Your Daily Tasks As Urgent Vs Important

As you start your week, you’re probably sitting in front of your computer thinking “Where the !@#$ do I start! I’ve got so many things to do that I can’t decide on which one to begin with.”

Don’t worry. We’re going to straighten out the cluster-%^&* of a to-do list you have and get you seeing some of those tasks completed.

Let’s begin:

1. First in this classification of urgent vs important, you’ll need to take a sheet of paper and draw a line right down the middle.
2. Next, on the left column, write “Urgent” on the very top. Then write “Important” on the next column.
3. Ok, now here is where it gets tricky. You need to break down ALL of your tasks and categorize then each as being urgent vs important. [TIP: The "Urgent" tasks will be the ones that are going to generate you money.]
4. Finally, write down all of those supposed “Important” tasks on the right column.

After you’ve done this, tell me if you see a pattern. (Comment below)

See one? I thought so!

You’ve probably been labeling urgent tasks as important and vise-versa.

Don’t feel bad, we’ve all done that and in some cases still do.

So what do you do know with this urgent vs important list?

Taking Your Urgent Vs Important List To The Next Level

Alright, the key is to grab the first five tasks on your “Urgent” column and get those done ASAP. This leaves you with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of having a bit more time to focus on those other tasks.

Here’s what I do:

• Each and every Sunday I organize my list, separating my tasks by urgent vs important.
• Before I start out my new week, I chose five tasks that  I will perform daily, five that I will perform weekly, and five that I will perform quarterly.
• Each task that I choose will be “money generating” tasks, and all other can wait until those are completed first. (Sorry Twitter!);-)
• Once my “Urgent” column was done, I’d move on to the important, making sure ALL tasks on BOTH columns were done for that day.

Sounds like I’m running a Boot Camp in my office, don’t it!? hehehe

But the good thing is that I only have one employee, ME!

Nevertheless, if organizing your days, setting daily goals, and actually completing them is what’s keeping you back from getting what you want out of your home business, then this is what it takes to get it done.

Now I can’t take full responsibility for learning how to differentiate urgent vs important in my business, but it was actually MY BUSINESS that showed me these really cool strategies.
