Help Me Pick My New Glasses!

I'm blind as a bat. There I said it. (Side note, are bats the only 'blind' animal? Why not the phrase, 'I'm blind as one of the three blind mice' ...just some food for thought) Let me admit something to you, and I'm only doing this because I think we're close. Close enough that you swear you won't judge me for the photo I'm about to show you. Let's rip the bandaid off....

I. Meghan Rosette. Had transition lenses. THEREISAIDIT.

For those of you fortunate to miss the era where they were 'in' (also this really doesn't apply to the transition lenses of 2013, that stuff is actually legit) Transition lenses were glasses created by satan himself to make awkward and chubby 5th graders like me, even more self conscious about their appearance. All in all they were just plain B-A-D. Even worse than gauchos. And the unicorn sweater Lizzie McGuire wore on picture day. Yes. They were that bad.

I'll admit, the concept of transition lenses were great. Glasses that were clear when you're inside, that tint to sunglasses when you go outside. Sounds pretty convenient right? WRONG, OH SO VERY WRONG. The first issue. They never got fully light. And even worse than that? They never got fully dark. So I was left with this awkward in between tinge...and because I was "trendy" (weird/strange/'unique'/special/insane) I thought, hey, let's tint them pink. In all fairness the shade was actually called "Crystal Rose" so it sounded pretty classy to my 11 year old self. Oh so wrong on oh so many levels.

-Also can we discuss that this was me FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL...I can't.

I can't even.

So that's my first glasses story...alas, come freshman year of high school I was cast in a play that required me to get contacts, so I've stuck with those ever sense, ditching the transition lenses along the way. My most recent pair of glasses I got about 3-4 years ago in my "hipster phase" (Yes I had way too many phases...it was a phase..) and while they were (and still are) really cute, they're actually mens glasses which don't even fit my head! Over the years I've managed to make them seriously crooked, so when Warby Parker contacted me asking if I wanted to get a new pair of glasses I was like "OH SWEET GLASSES GODS YES PLEASE"

...so this is how we got here today....BAH BAM

My Weekend with Benefit in San Francisco!

'Ello gals!

Last weekend I was invited to attend Benefit's first ever "Blogger Weekend" which was seriously SO much fun...like not even kidding it's on my top 5 times of my life (still not joking). I honestly was so flattered that I was invited, I swear they totally mixed up my invite and it was supposed to go to somebody way more legit...BUT I was stoked I got to go!

As most of you know, I'm a yay-area (bay area) native, so seeing the city with a ton of girls who had never seen San Francisco was so much fun! I felt like a back seat tour guide pointing out all my favorite places in the city!

So let me give you a play by play of the trip .

My flight left at 6 am....yes AM....so being the smart college student I am, I decided, Hey, why not just stay up all night? Yeah..bad idea. I rolled up to the airport makeup-less, hair curled from the night before, rocking sweat pants, my Calvin Klein coat, and a fur scarf...I think I was the dictionary definition of a 'hot mess'

My travel buddies and I (Heart & Sonia) were greeted at the hotel with a Benefit gift bag, filled with SF related goodies and my favorite part...a giant gummy bear (uhhh Benefit did you know I was asked to prom junior year with one??) So I helped myself to ~~hundreds~~ a few chocolates before heading down stairs to meet the rest of the girls.

Our first event of the day was a tour of Benefit headquarters. So maybe it's just me, but when I hear 'headquarters' I think cold labs that smell like antibacterial wipes. But boy oh boy ~~(I sound like my mother..)~~ was I wrong! The headquarters was BEYOND adorable as you can see.

We were then taken upstairs for lunch (but more importantly CUPCAKES), where we saw a slideshow disclosing some awesome Benefit facts, like....HEY did you know their first client was a stripper who wanted a product to make her nipples pinker while she "danced" and there you have it ladies and gents, Benetint was born!

So this entire trip was pretty secretive, even to us! We honestly had no idea really why we were all invited, they kept the biggest secret underwraps until after lunch when they announced we were going to be the first people in the WORLD to see and try out their new line launching this spring!

Their Color Collection consists of re-formulated & re-packaged products, brand new colors, and even new products! I may have even gotten giddy when I saw the cream shadows...I mean look at them you guys- they're boootyyyfuuuul!

(Fun fact, when I HATED lipgloss I mentioned in my early videos that the only one I loved was Benefit's Life on the A-List)

You should have seen the excitement on Alison (amarixe) Jen (frmheadtotoe) and (RachhLoves) faces when they gifted us each a specialized pink train case filled with the new goodies to keep for ourselves! Stay tuned for TONS of tutorials and reviews when these products launch in stores!

Here are just some fun shots I got of the headquarters! They had so many different rooms, for meetings, press events, and even officies filled with sassy lil' quotes & makeup!

Okay it's totally not a secret that I like REALLY love food....and San Francisco is the city for all you fellow foodies! I nearly peed my pants when the hot PINK hummer limo picked us up and took us to Michael Mina's! In all honesty I was more excited about the chef than I was for the transportation..is that sad?

We had such a fun night, we started off at a Benefit themed theatre where a comedian performed that literally had me crying of laughter, then we saw a SERIOUSLY well done mini- Benefit video! The final day was our tour of the city, and the first stop was the painted ladies (Also known as the 'Full House' House or, for those of a you a little too young to recall that, you may recognize it was the house from 'That's So Raven'

Our tour bus took us to quite a few SF landmarks, but my favorite will always be the bridge!

We ended the day at one of the first ever Benefit stores, one on Filmore street! If you're ever in SF you have to go! The ladies working there are so friendly and sweet! I got my brows waxed for the first time EVER, by an esthetician who's Benefit's longest employee! We finished off just shopping around, I can't wait to show you guys some awesome products that even I didn't know existed!

I want to give a HUGE thank you to Benefit Cosmetics, I had such an amazing time last weekend! It was so well planned, and I got to know some of my YouTube friends so much better, as well as learn some pretty awesome things about one of my favorite makeup brands! But I really owe a huge thank you to YOU all for your support of my youtube channel, I would never get experiences like this without all of you, and I just want you all to know how much I appreciate your love and support!

StyleSteal: Taylor Swift RED Inspired Makeup & Fashion

It is no secret that I have an unhealthy obsession with Miss Taylor Swift...but let's be real here, I'm pretty sure (even if you refuse to admit it) ever single, bitter, 19 year old longing for prince charming has a soft spot for her. Don't deny it, I know you secretly sing 'Enchanted' in your bedroom staring longingly at pictures of Andrew Garfield....wait thats just me? Awkward...

Taylor's new hair has gotten quite a stir out of the media as of late as she ditched her platinum wild curls for dirty blonde straight bangs, I'm still deciding if I'm on team straight or curly...but from one curly girl to another, I adored how well she rocked that lion mane! The pin straight just does not have the same hairography factor ;) But with this new hair Taylor debuted what is now being called her 'signature style,' something I have so endearingly started calling 'Swifty Style'...catchy huh? I'm pretty proud of it...not gonna lie.

Swifty Style is basically a modern (and cuter) version of where's waldo.....you think I'm kidding? Cross my heart, swear on Harry Potter he has been her current twin...In all actuality anyone else would just note that she's a fan of nautical colors, boat neck tops, and stripes. In my world? That means she may or may not be closely related to the Waldo family.

What's great about Taylor's style is that it's so easily re-created, unlike most Hollywood A-listers, she sticks to a basic wardrobe of classic pieces, something us mere mortals can find bargin hunting at Forever21, and sifting through sale racks at JCrew.

So am I alone in this ever growing Taylor Swift obsession? Please say no so I can feel slightly better about the amount of hours I spend singing her songs, and just all around desperately wishing she and I could have a slumber party filled with tea, cats, and baking. But really...is that too much to ask for? Santa are you listening ;) ?

Cozy Cashmere: Fall Tutorial

Fall is by far one of my favorite seasons, candles, apple cider, cable knit sweaters, mmmmm. But in a fashion sense, fall is hands down my favorite to do makeup for! This fall there have been so many amazing collections released for the drugstore, that I thought today I'd bring you a tutorial using the Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad in Cozy Cashmere. This look has been one of my favorites to rock recently, it's neutral, easily intensified, and totally makes my light eyes POP!

How I Style 3 Fall Fashion Essentials

Fall fashion is by far my favorite season for styling. Sadly being a Southern California student, we don't get to experience leaves changing, or even that brisk evening air until nearly November...(tear) But that doesn't mean I can't blast the air conditioning, dress up in boots and pretend....right?

Taylor Swift Tutorial: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

It's no secret that the world is utterly entranced by this 22 year old country cross over star. She's adorably bubbly and still totally humble despite her immense success in the last few years (hello....she was #11 on the Forbs 100 list!) What snagged the media's attention about Taylor was her brutal honesty (and yes. I said brutal) This seemingly innocent blonde bats her lashes and smiles as she oh so lyrically openly disses her ex boyfriends. While most of us bitter single girls just complain with our girlfriends over pints of Ben & Jerry's, Taylor takes that to a whole new level, outright naming the boys who've wronged her in her hit songs. Now THAT'S the kinda girl I wanna be friends with.

On August 13 2012, Taylor released her first single off the new album "Red," in a google live chat, titled 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.' In this catchy tune Taylor stresses to a persistant ex, that in fact, they will "never EVER" get back together. Let's be honest, we all have those ex's who keep trying to push their ways back into our patched up hearts. And it's about time we all start taking a leaf from Taylor Swift's book, flipping our blonde pony tails, pouting our red lips, and slamming doors in those jackasses faces. Am I right?

The much anticipated music video for 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,' Taylor challenged fans to catch on to the quirky sense of mocking in the video. Clad in oversized fleece pajamas, the 'iconic' indie glasses, she dances around in a cable knit room with her people fully dressed in animal costumes...and yes I mean furries. If Taylor's stroke of sheer genius went over your head, study up on some indie music videos, they'll suddenly look strikingly similar. Furthering her major clue to viewers about who the muse of this song is, "some indie record that is much cooler than mine," my guess? Despite the actor in the video's physical similarity to her ex Jake Gyllenhaal, I'm totally thinking this tune screams John Mayer. Uh hello...indie record....desperate man? Seems pretty obvious to me.

In the music video Taylor dawned her now signature look of thick winged liner and a full red lip, easily recreated by meare crazed fans like me! If you want to see how I achieved this look, pajamas and all, check out the tutorial!

Let's be real here, what girl looks at a Victoria Secret model and goes, "Blah. That's some mediocre hair" I'm a huge fan of curls, tight little ringlets. loose waves, but especially as of late, these big soft curls! These rollers are amazing for achieving this look!

Maybe it's because I'm spending so much time on Tumblr...but I am seriously lusting over Jeffery Campbell Lita's booties. Now let's be honest, I'm not a small girl, I'm 5'9 and these shoes are taaaaall! But let's get real, these are cute enough that I can rock being 6 foot something or other, it's for the sake of fashion right? The signature look of the Lita is the thick platform and chunky heel. The "classic" Lita would most likely be considered the leather shoe with the wooden heel, but the shoes come in suede, studded, lace even american flag print, so theirs a style for everybody!

You can buy Lita's online everywhere, sadly they hardly ever go on sale and for a statement shoe they have a hefty price tag starting at $160. I'm on the fence about buying a pair of these babies, I'm all about comfort so YOU tell me? Are they comfortable enough to justify the price? Are these a must? Style Forecast: Baroque

Last night after watching 'Love and Other Drugs' (not as bas as the reviews made it sound BTW) I stumbled upon E's 'Fashion Police' Let me start off by saying I typically never agree with these types of shows, I could care less what celebrities are wearing most of the time. But I tuned in right when the hosts were discussing the newest fall trend, baroque.

Baroque, is an artistic style, ranging from paintings, archetecture and fashion dating back to the 17th century. Think very over the top, ornate detailing, weaving, lavish and expensive. When I heard baroque was making a modern day comeback let's just say I was surprised. The last time I saw anything modern fitting baroque was a rug...not a dress. But after further research, I fell in love with the modern day twist on the 17th century style.

Obviously not all of us are going to be rocking full fledged baroque dresses & jackets, but it's a really easy style to transfer from the runway and tone down for the every day fashionista. (I totally have this gut insane feeling that H&M is going to go crazy with this trend for fall....so fingers crossed I'm right! I'd love to see what they'd bring out on an affordable level for us mere mortals )

Obviously a cult favorite in rocking this new trend, sunglasses are a simple way to sport the trend, but these Prada sunnies are anything BUT simple. They're a statement and totally fashion forward.

If you're loving this style but you're not too keen on wearing it head to toe, go for a scarf! The print makes it baroque, but because it is such a timeless style, you'll be wearing it for seasons to come, especially if you get it in a neutral color!

Using baroque style for home decor...can you say genius? Crown molding, marble, ornately carved head boards, super lavish, circa Marie Antoinette. We all love living like princesses, so a cheap picture frame with over the top detail is perfect to channel your inner royalty.

It is no secret that I have a weakness for patterned pants...something about them is so retro to me. Damask is a baroque pattern that we've been loving for years, and going for a subtle damask pattern on a pair of J Brand skinnies is basically heaven on jeans for me. Going for a light colors in the pattern makes the pants a subtle statement, nothing too over the top and loud.

Dorm Essentials

Hi all! So dorm season is right around the corner for for all you incoming college freshman! What an exciting time, full of all nighters, pajama parties & getting sex-exiled by your roommate! Ah, nothing like being a freshman! So this past year I lived in a dorm at my college & I thought I'd give you guys my MUST HAVE packing list! These are the essentials that totally saved my butt durring the year! Make sure to check out my Dr. Meghan Packing video for even MORE dorm tips!

A mattress topper was a serious must have item for me, the dorm beds were so uncomfortable I can even tell you! There are tons of different kinds of toppers, ranging in price, so check out places like Bed Bath & Beyond or Target to find one that works for you!

You NEEED this! Twin XL bedding! Nothing else will fit the dorm beds if this is the size bed you have! You're school will tell you what size the bed is before move-in, and if not, you can always call and ask! I suggest getting 2 sets, one that's a lighter material, like a cotton, and another that's fleece or jersey for the colder months!

Get fun pillows! I can't even tell you how easily you can dress up your room with colorful pattern pillows! Target, Marshalls, and Ross have tons of cheap pillows! Go for something COMFY too! None of that sparkly decorative stuff! You want something totally plush that you can snuggle with when you study!

Towels! Get these all in the same color, then another set in a different color! I reccomend getting ones of all sizes so you're never without one!

You need to document the memories of your freshman year! I'd advise getting a cheaper camera (cheaper than this LOL) because chances are you'll be taking pictures at parties, and you don't want to have something SO nice that you'll be devistated if something happens to it!

I adore these! I (sadly) didn't have enough room in my closet to use these, but my roommate used them for jeans, so handy! Just make sure you don't put TOO much stuff in them that weighs them down!

Belts....totally something I blanked on storage, I LOVE these! It keeps them compact, but not falling and slipping everywhere!

Scarves are a must have in any wardrobe, and storing them was so confusing for me, this seems like a really easy way to keep them all together, but still accessible!

Awww this stool brings back such good memories! This is actually the EXACT stool my roommate and I got to jump up on our beds! It's perfect if there are hard to reach storage spots!

How cute are these? We had one in our room that we could write reminders on, like a midterm study session, or just for our friends to write funny notes to us on!

These are actually the drawers my roommate used to store extra clothes under her bed! Perfect for undies, bras, bathing suits, or even jeans, or hoodies!

THIS WAS MY SAVIOR! Totally not even kidding! This hooks on the side of your bed so you can just reach right over to grab any bedtime stuff! In there I would keep my ipod, my kindle, chapstick, a sleeping mask, headphones, my medications, and a camelbak waterbottle! SUPER easy access for my lazy folks!

SHOWER CADDYYYYYY! This will be your best friend. You don't even want to hear the horror stories I have of things I've found in the bathrooms...yuck! If you're like me, you'll share a bathroom with 30 other girls, you so do NOT want your bare feet touching that gross floor! You NEEED shower shoes! Just any cheap flip flops! And in your shower caddy just keep any things you need durring your shower! Make sure it's waterproof cause it WILL get wet!

If you're a hair girl you're going to want this! A super easy compact way to store all your electronic hair tools! This way the cords don't get tanged either!

Chances are you won't bring an iron or a steamer to school, but no one likes wrinkly clothes! This spray instantly gets any wrinkles out of your clothes, and SUPER quick!

8. Pearl Studs- I blame Sarah again for my desire for these classic items. A pearl stud is so out of my comfort zone, I'm so used to rocking long feather earrings, or tiered turquoise chandelier ones, nothing simple, and nothing that would ever be concidered "timeless". But somehow that switch flipped and now I can't stop thinking about them! Sorority girl problems. Sigh.

9. Aqua Heeled Sandals- When I walked into Target and saw these I almost had a heart attack. Was I in thrifty heaven? Obviously the shopping gods were trying to spare me $30 so inevitably they were sold out in my size. A tear or two may have been shed...But I WILL find these to fit my gigantic yeti feet, too cute to pass up. I've never been one for casual heels before, but I kid you not when I say these have been haunting my dreams.

And finally, at the top of my list! The Tiffany & Co. blue key necklace! Again....proving I'm obsessed with my sorority! Kappa Keys! so perfect to layer with my other tiffany necklace as well! And the lavalier I'll get at initation! Adorableeeeee

& Something I have no specific picture of cause idk the exact one, but a digital camera! I literally use my phone for EVERY picture I take, and I'd like better quality!

I seriously ADORE this shade, its a very flattering plum mauve and perfect for the colder months coming up! I would say this formula is by far my favorite, so creamy and it lasts so long!

Pink Chic:

By far my favorite drugstore lipstick EVER! The color is a very classic pink, not too blue based, and not too red, it is seriously the perfect candy pink!

Heavenly:

My favorite of the line, its a really pretty color but I do feel that it leans a bit more brown than I would like to wear on a daily basis. The formula is okay, this is the best of them all, creamy and longwearing, but I wish the line had a dependable formulation.

Kiss: HATE HATE HATE HATE

First off. Frosty lips really arn't my thing. And the color itself is a tangerine/gold frosty....just not flattering. I would give it a few extra points if it was just the look of it, but the formula is dry and accentuates every crack in your lips. Just overall not a good look

I was pretty dissapointed by this one as I heard rave reviews on it

I think this would look significantly better on someone with paler skin as this on me leans to just looking like I have pumpkin resedue on my lips. Granted this is a GORG base color for darker or more intense glosses, so for that purpose I love it. But on it's own it's nothing special

Welcome to my new fashion series! I was honestly getting bored and tired of only doing fashion videos seasonally, it got so predictable! So a few months back I came up with an idea of doing music videos to some of my favorite budding YouTube musicians, that displayed outfits that embodied the style of the song! For me music is something I draw a lot of fashion inspiration from, and it's an awesome way to discover new musical talent :)

This first LookBook was inspired by the song White Flag by my friend Kara Del Valle, the first time I listened to it I imagined crisp white clothes blowing in the wind. A simple way to mix different shades of white while still maintaing the classic care-free California style I adore.

This song will always remind me of the long car ride home after my 18th birthday, blasting it with the windows rolled down, and the smell of In-n-Out fries lingering

This is probably the most played song of my entire summer. It'll always remind me of crusing down the highway in Ally's convertable days before she moved.

Hot lanta, Sydney and I are obsessed with this song, honestly no matter what mood I'm in, if this comes on I will be taken back to my hometown, eating edamame and singing along

Not only was this my Karaoke jam at my birthday, but it is Syd and I's BELTING jam, I mean...enough that with the windows rolled down the car next to us told us to be quiet...awkwardddd

6. Skyscraper- Demi Lovato

Handsdown this will always be my go-to feel better song. Any time something went wrong this month, within seconds this song would be blasting and we'd all be singing along

7. How to Love- Lil' Wayne

I'll admit it, this song is overplayed, and not well written. But dayum its catchy

8. Favorite Song- Colbie Callait

Anything Colbie will remind me of my best friend, and this song is no exception, it takes me to the long ride to the beach house, or painting our nails on the porch, or sitting on the balcony way too late at night.

So it's no secret I'm a music junkie, as you may be able to tell from those random lip synching clips I put in my videos....bahha. For me music always brings me back. IMATS LA: My Shopping Mission

So as most of you know, I'm going to be going to IMATS LA this month! (Don't know what that is? http://www.imats.net/los/los_index.php)
I seriously cannot wait, I'll be staying at Alexa's (smokeypinkleopard) house, with Sarah (sarahbelle93x)! And I am SO EXCITED!

Booths I must stop by:

Crown Brush- I want to get a few more concealer brushes and maybe blush & foundation ones
Inglot- DEAR GOD. Since Temptalia posted swatches of their shadows I've been lusting over getting either a 10-pan or a 20-pan eyeshadow pallet! Maybe even a blush one as well....?
MUFE- I've been dying to try the eyeliners, but since I'm mostly a gel/liquid girl, I could never justify the price tag, but discounted, hot dayum I'll try some out! Maybe some of their HD blushes or Aqua creams too!
NYX- I love this brand SO freaking much. I want to stock up on their jumbo pencils, some lipsticks and maybe a few blushes or eyeshadows for a future drugstore tutorial!
OCC- I always wondered what the hype over the Lip Tars where, then I saw Xparkage's video...MUST HAVE!
Sigma Beauty- Nearly every brush I own is from Sigma, and I love them! If I don't end up picking up more brushes, I deffently want to check out their brush rolls, travel sets, and that new quick drying thing!
Stilla- A brand I never really explored a lot, but I'm excited to see what they have to offer at IMATS!
Sun Labs- Seriously my FAVORITE self tanner (video up soon) and I wanna stock up for college!
