I paid to be part of the closed beta tester program (I know, I'm crazy for paying during beta test, but I had my reasons) and I can tell you, if used properly, it will be a total game changer in the niche market. Yes, I am that excited about it! I only wish I'd had this available before I chose domain names for some of my previous sites.

I can now search for a keyword rich, available domain either .com, .net, org. and even .info in about 30 seconds. I know what you're thinking, "I can do this on my own." While that is true, it would take you hours to find some of these domains and many that appear in the tool will never show up when you're searching on your own. The tool digs down to between 50 and 60 levels deep, whereas the available tools online only cover around the top 10 levels.

Just to give you a quick idea of the kind of quality domains you can find, I'm going to pull something off the top of my head and do a little quick research. Then I'll give you the total elapsed time that it took me to do it all. Ok....go!

Sitting here looking at the sunshine streaming through my door made me think that the prime time for tanning bed season is just about upon us. So we'll go with that. Tanning beds. Time to come up with the idea: 15 seconds

Now let's analyze our list above for one with the least competition. Out of the list above, believe it or not, "sun tan beds" is the phrase with least amount of competition - 202,000. Using exact match, it only has 20,500. Time elapsed for this: 4 minutes

So, in under 10 minutes, we thought up a niche, found an affiliate program, checked the competition and found an available keyword rich domain to register. How cool is that?

If you don't want to push and affiliate product, you could use it for an adsense site or build out an authority site about tanning beds. You could also buy the domain, build a website and flip it or just sell the domain for 4 to 5 times (maybe even more) than what you paid for it. Easy money!

To be honest, I never would have even tried to check that domain as being available in any way on my own since it's such a popular term. I guarantee I would have set at this computer screen for I don't know how long looking for a domain.

We all know that Google loves and gives more weight to keyword rich domains and I hope this helps you see the power of this software and what it is capable of. This was just one small example. The possibilities of dominating virtually any niche with little competition are endless!

ShopperPress - VIP Version

Don't get me wrong, I don't have many complaints with Hostgator, but I've noticed over the last year or so that the sites I have on my Baby Croc account load really slow. I could find no good explanation for this and also noticed that many, many others have the same problem. The solution from Hostgator is of course to upgrade your account to a higher priced plan. This was an unacceptable answer to me. I did not want a reseller account with them.

So I looked elsewhere and found Green Geeks. They are slightly cheaper than Hostgator, but one of the things that appealed to me the most was the fact that they are completely powered by wind technology. So I signed up for an account and took advantage of their free site migration service. Which, by the way, I loved. It went completely smooth and I didn't have to lift a finger. Best of all, it was FREE! Something else that appealed to me was the fact that they do nightly backups. I know most providers offer this, but I can tell you from experience with Hostgator that what they say and what they do are two different things. I had to have them restore a site once and the backup was 3 days old. This is not the case with Green Geeks. They really do what they promise.

Once my sites were moved, I was amazed at the speed at which they loaded. When they were on Hostgator, they took a moment or two to load. On Green Geeks hosting, they now load pretty much instantly. What a difference! And I'm noticing that people are staying on the site longer as well. I would say that the site speed has something to do with that. I'm so impressed with it that I'll probably move this site over to their service as well. What made you get online and look for a way to make money? In other words, what is your "Why"? Think about it for a minute or two. You had to have a reason.

Were you looking to just make some extra pocket change or were you looking to replace your income and quit your job? Did you aspire to be rich beyond your wildest imagination? Or did you have other reasons such as a new car or paying off your debt?

We've all heard the statistic that 95% of online marketers will fail. And to a point, this is true. Losing sight of the "Why" is the reason. It's not that they don't know what they're doing. It's not that they haven't tried. They lost sight of why they got into doing this in the first place.

There is one other reason, and that reason is they thought it would be easy. After all, just look at the sales pages of nearly every making money scheme and that's what you will see. Push button this, do a few clicks and bam! you will have money in your bank account tomorrow. Blah, blah, blah....

Being successful in internet marketing takes work. Hard work and dedication. It is a business and you have to treat it as such. If you treat it like a hobby, you will never make more than hobby money. Certainly not the life changing income you might be dreaming of. When you sit down to your computer and go to work, treat it like it is a job - either full-time or part-time.

Oh, and spending an hour or two checking email and statistics does not constitute as work. You could have spent that time writing an article, creating a new page for your site, promoting your site, etc.

The purpose for saying all of this is that I'm trying to help you find your reason, your "why". Whatever it is, if you want to succeed, you have to be passionate about it. It must be something you really want. It must be the one thing that drives you to keep plugging along day after day online. Most importantly, it will be your reason for NOT giving up.

Those who have been at this a while know what I'm saying. When you define your "Why", write it down and keep it in front of you daily. When your why is strong enough, you will get past those times when you feel that nothing you are doing is working. Because it is sitting in front of you, it will lift you up when you are feeling down. Trust me, it will. The reason for that is you have a visual. Your why is what will drive you to reach those goals and be successful in the end. You also must have the mindset that you can and will achieve that goal. Never give up! I will tell you, it feels good to achieve these goals and dreams. Once you have been able to take down a "why" and replace it with a new one, you will see what I mean.

I'll share mine with you. I first started looking for ways to make money online because I wanted to quit my job. I wanted to be in control of me and I didn't want anyone to have that kind of control over me again. I wanted to define when I would take off work and control which hours and days I worked. It was a freedom I had never known and wanted to experience.

Well, I reached that goal and let me tell you, it's wonderful! It's everything I had hoped it would be and more. Sure, I still work, but I'm working for myself - not someone else.

Another why came into my life a few months ago. My mother has diabetes and has to have her eyes checked yearly. At her doctor's appointment, she was told she had the beginning of cataracts in both eyes and the beginning of glaucoma in one eye. Scary stuff, right? Well, once she found out she needed laser treatment surgery for it all, she found out that the insurance, which they pay $1600 a month for, will not even pay for the surgery!!!

For $1600 a month, you would think that insurance would pay for just about anything. And before anyone comments, that is the cheapest but best insurance my folks can afford. They have their own business and are not at retirement age yet.

I have kicked everything I have and that I know into overdrive. All of the surgeries combined will run close to $10,000 and I want to be able to give her the ability to have them done by Christmas. This is my goal. I can't stand the thought of my mom possibly going blind and I want to do whatever it takes to see that she doesn't. This is my "why" that is driving me to the point of exhaustion.

I've shared mine with you, so let's hear yours, what is your "why"?

I've said this before and I'll say it again. In order to be successful or remain successful, you have to have focus, perserverance and determination. I think lack of any one of the previous factors encompass all of us who are working online at one point or another. I am just as guilty as everyone else when it comes to lack of focus. I can be working on one project and think WAIT, I need to go do this for THIS site or I need to do promotion work on THAT site, or worse yet out of nowhere comes a flood of ideas for things I want to try or test.

It's at this point, I completely lose my focus. Adult onset of ADD? Maybe. I don't know, but does any of this sound familiar to any of you?

This really hit me a week or so ago when I found a project I'd been working on that was still incomplete after more than a week.

My solution? Yesterday I sat down and made a list of everything I needed or had to do and put my "want to's" at the end. When I got up this morning, I didn't think about anything. I knew what I had to do and jumped right in.

And it paid off. My productivity level went through the roof today! Every time I got distracted with a thought of something else I wanted to do or try, I simply added it to the bottom of my list and didn't think about it anymore. It's been so much fun crossing one thing off after another. Can you tell that sometimes it does not take much to amuse me? Lol!

I used to make lists all the time, but somehow I got out of the habit. I won't be making that mistake again. The next post will talk about why focus is so important.

I am still working the eBay affiliate program, though still profitable, it is no longer my main income source. However, I would say it is still close to 1/4 of my income. I basically treat it more like I would Adsense in that my pages and sites no longer focus so much on selling the product as they do in being a guide for the product I am trying to earn commissions on. The sites I have in existence are basically mini sites of 20 pages or less. I go back and add a page every now and again just to keep things somewhat fresh, which seems to keep the search engines happy.

The key to continued success of these sites is that they focus on one product and one product only. Not accessories that go with it and not competitors of the product, but just that one particular product. In order to be profitable and sustainable, you have to spend some time picking something that has been in demand in the past, is in demand now and will be in demand in the future. In other words, do not build around a fad product or one that will be outdated within a few months or a year. It can be challenging to come up with ideas for such a product, but that's half the fun. Then I write basic manuals on how to use the product or other uses it may have, link out to where to download user manuals and the manufacturer - basically everything I can think of to write about the product. It is so much easier to get these sites to rank in the number one position for the product when said product is all that can be found on the site. In addition to displaying eBay products, I also include Amazon and other programs to show a price comparison. Hopefully this gives you some idea of how to continue making the eBay affiliate program work in your favor. Just don't focus on solely being an eBay affiliate. There's a whole world of affiliate programs out there for most products you may be promoting.

I also went back to doing something I did way back before I ever became an affiliate of anything. I got back into selling on eBay. I know some of you are cringing at the thought due to more competition, higher eBay and PayPal fees and the like but I was smart this time. Don't get me wrong, I did very well before, but no where near as well as I am doing now. I owe all of my current eBay selling success to a selling research tool called HammerTap. Some of you may be familiar with TeraPeak and the data it provides. HammerTap is a lot like it, but goes a little more indepth than TeraPeak and is less money. I have used both tools and honestly feel that HammerTap is better. I'm not sure why others do not talk about it more. From my research, I know exactly what my chances are of selling an item, what I can expect to be paid, what day and time to list or have the auction end and a plethora of other features. I will be doing a full review on HammerTap in the next day or two so if you are interested in selling on eBay, stay tuned for that!

As I stated earlier, I have also completely revamped my way of building niche sites and finding affiliate programs, etc. I will soon start a series of what I'm doing, how I'm doing it and how I'm marketing them.

I've also got a ton of testing results to share with you all regarding off-site webpages, promotion techniques, etc. What the heck, I might just do a live case study again for the fun of it.

At any rate, there is a lot of news coming your way. And I promise I'll do better about keeping in touch!

At one point, I had launched an article re-writing service using The Best Spinner. This was a success at first, and would still be going strong if I had not had so much trouble with my internet provider. For those that do not already know, I use HughesNet satellite for my provider. I was 4 and half months getting it fixed after a series of storms rolled through my area. It was crazy! As well as extremely frustrating. I was on the phone with them every other day it seemed and for hours at a time. Your first hour is always spent talking to someone trying to troubleshoot your problem (which there was no way they could fix from India) before they finally transfer you to advanced technical support. Who would also try troubleshooting techniques before they would put in a ticket to have a repairman come out. Many of which would never show up, and then I would have to call them and go through the very same thing again. It was an extremely frustrating, vicious cycle.

Through all of this, Google decided to implement a couple of updates that seemed to rock the internet marketing industry. Literally. I think we all know the story, so there is no need for me to rehash and old topic. I will say that although my sites bounced around a lot, they finally settled out and most all seem to have survived. Some rank better than they ever have and others kind of tanked a bit, but for the most part, I agree with Mark Hansen over at The Niche Store Builder when he talks about his sites getting more targeted traffic. I am seeing those same kind of results.

Though after the last Google update, I must wonder how in the world they are ever found! I hope it is not just me that cannot seem to find what they are looking for when searching Google. My word! The results were and are still horrible! If I do find what I'm truly looking for, it's only because I took the time to drill down in the results pages to find it. I'm now officially with others who have made the switch to using Bing or Ask.com. Much better results.

Some of you also know there was a problem with PayPal where they "accidentally" started automatic canceling people's subscriptions to many services. Talk about frustrating! My subscription to HostGator was just one of several that got caught up in the PayPal mess so my blog, along with some of my sites, have been up and down, up and down. My subscription date is now past the due date so I'm getting that straightened out as well.

However, through all of this, I discovered another method for building sites that works very well. I cannot say that it is new, but it can and will work for those of you who are tired of just being an affiliate. I'm giving the method to you as a bonus just for reading this far. LOL!

The method and concept are relatively simple. But do not overlook it just because of its ease. It is really quite powerful and getting ready to go into the Christmas shopping season, there is no better time to get these kind of sites started.

Do as you are doing now - find a product that is getting a decent amount of searches that does not seem to have much competition. Then instead of locating an affiliate program for it, try finding a dropshipper for the product and then build a site around the product with just a few selections of it. Now, before you look away, let me give you an example. I'm not including a live link because it would look strange to have a blog like this linking to it, but have a look at http://www.beer-pong-table.net/

I saw this site for sale on Flippa a few months back. The guy was selling because he was pursuing another business model. The site was obviously established and it was earning an average of $240 a month. The site sold for $3700! All this guy had to do was basic promotion on the site, and once established, set back and take the orders. Once he got an order, he placed an order for the product with his dropshipper and they shipped the product to his customer. He never handled it and was earning a decent profit on the product.

When I saw what he was doing, I had a complete Homer Simpson "Doh!" moment. Why didn't I think of this before? Now imagine having 5-10 (or more) of those sites all producing $200-$300 a month basically on auto-pilot. Then, if you grow tired of a site or want to expand to a different product, just head on over to Flippa and sell it. Sites like these can be much easier to sell than an affiliate site because, unlike some affiliate programs, most anyone can continue the relationship with the dropshipper.

There is one other thing I have been doing and since this post got so long-winded I will save that for another post later today. Some of you will be ok with it and some of you won't because it's a business model that some love and others hate. And that's ok.
