So as most of my blog followers know that this blog has seen many careers and various paths I've taken. This blog is about three years old. When I first started it I was a massage therapist in San Francisco pregnant launching an online vintage shop. It has evolved to Flower Shop owner and wedding photographer. So it's safe to say we have been through some changes. To be very honest the reason I started blogging was because I lost my "big" job in the city due to the economy. And I wanted something that I could depend on myself for, a career I know I couldn't loose because something I know I could trust myself with. And of course be passionate about. And for the most part I think I have found it. But I'm still in my twenties (late twenties...but still) and I think I'm still finding what I want to do. It's been decided I'm moving on from the flower shop, and during this transition I'm taking a bit of a break. I'll be traveling this year with my kids and with myself and doing some self discovery. I want to find something that I'm so passionate about I stop wondering. That's when I know I have found my path. I'll be back in a few weeks with my adventure tails of self discovery. Any stories you care to share on your own self discovery will be appreciated.

Last week there was no week in photos due to the high volume of orders at the flower shop. But man this week was a blur. Most my time was at the shop, making orders, processing orders, and directing delivery drivers and making maps. So enjoy some flower shop photos this week...and happy weekend!!!

Mother's Day Week

Our second biggest flower holiday is this SUNDAY! But unlike Valentines Day (where it happens all in one day) Mother's Day seems to be a week long (which is sort of nice). But we have been popping out some great stuff this week, this arrangement in particular made a Mama cry when we delivered it (aw). So don't forget your Mama this Sunday! Sorry for the blog silence lately, but I'm dealing with not one, not two, but three difficulties in my life. I really can't complain to much because personally my life is great all three of these difficulties are with business. One deals with another local photographer who ran off with my money, another deals with the negative feedback here who's trying to get my money, and another theft case at the flower shop. I don't know what it is lately but apparently my wallet is up for grabs and everyone wants a piece. So just this lovely poster for now, I'll be back tomorrow with pretty flowers.

1.Monumentle news this week! Little Luna has started walking this week. Those cute little cheeks are now mobile.
2. Bubble bonding.
3. and 4. Capitol Park is in full bloom this month, which I love. The kids can run around the rose garden for at least an hour, it's sort of a mini maze for them.
5.Skeeter squirrel watching.
6.Milo picking up mommies garden habits.

Oh wonderful friend Liz (Srsly Liz) and her charming man Glenn were so generous in helping me build me wedding portfolio this last weekend. So no they did not REALLY get married but they enjoyed freaking out friends and family that thought they had ran away to the court house. Liz was a pretty picture perfect bride as you can see. And Glenn was pretty dashing himself. Super easy and fun to shoot them. Liz was even a trooper when I sent her into a rose garden filled with bees on steroids. Thank you again guys for the good times.

Today I had the privilege of having a photo shoot with local stylist and blogger Elizabeth from Everything's a Thing. She just launched her new site and it's as cute as a button. Her style involves vintage necklaces from her grandmother to sequins in the day, which I personally love both. The shoot was so easy and carefree, and even involved a couple of mimosas. Her bold, and neatly put together apartment was a photographers dream. I'm sure this is the beginning of what I hope to be many more photos of Elizabeth.

A very short and late "a week in photos" set, sorry folks! I'm happy to say I've been busy! Busy in work and life in all the positive ways possible. I lined up two weddings, a maternity and new born photo shoot, all in the up coming summer months. I'm so excited for this new career path and for the first time ever, a settling feeling of contentment has hit me. I promise this week will be filled with more goodies.

1. and 2. We went to the Sacramento Zoo this week, and have to say pretty impressed on how nicely it looks (I haven't been since I was a kid). Milo loved it.
3. Planted a "heat tolerant" garden, this no rain business makes me less hopeful for the berry garden I imagined planting this year.
4. Easter was of course this week, and Milo's first real egg hunt with sparkle eggs!
5. An Easter arrangement with lilac.
6. The Governor's Mansion is a few short blocks away from us, no Arnold or NBA stars ever lived here, but it's still a pretty sight.
7. A rare 3 year old nap.

Laura is a local theater artist. She contacted me a while ago with a need for fresh head shots (for her portfolio). And I'm so glad she did. Her outgoing, carefree personality was so fun to hang out with, made the shoot super relaxed. If your in the Northern California area you might have seen her at the Wells Fargo Pavilion playing roles like the Alice in Alice in Wonderland, "Wardrobe" in Beauty in the Beast, and even a monkey here and there for the side roles.

5. Zip lined this week in the beautiful red woods of California. I couldn't bring my camera on the line, but regardless the woods were gorgeous and I was happy to be near the coast. I highly recommend this place.

My little tikes would love one of these. I imagine the bean bag lasting a whole week until Milo decides the poor animal needs to be stabbed with his toy sword. Then we would have animal burlap skin laying around. (Sigh) Perhaps when they're older.

So running a flower shop for the past (gasp) almost two years, we found it sort of wonderful to start a photography business with in the shop. Specializing in weddings (of course). I love photography, always have, I've really enjoyed shooting the flower shop and all the creations that come from it too. But what better way to honor the flowers, and customers then to see them in action. So yes, Melissa Righero Photography is up and running. We are for hire!

This will be the last post for a week. THE FLOWER SHOP BUSIEST TIME OF YEAR IS HERE!! IT'S CRAY, for lack of a better word. We are renting a cooler truck this year, just because there's not enough space in our shop to hold all the flowers. And let me say this, we had 200 and some deliverers last year (which was insane enough), and this year we are pushing towards 400 and it's not even Valentines day yet! My eyes are blood shot, my kids are permanently being taken care of by family members or nannies this week, and even my cat is grumpy...CRAY! Wish me luck, and I hope you get lots of love this Valentine Day! See you next week.
