So, here’s my status: I have Books one, two, four, and five of the vampire series pretty much done. It’s three that’s holding me up.

While awaiting the writing fairies to help me out, I stared writing some other things. Four novel-length stories on an unrelated paranormal theme. As if that weren’t preoccupying enough, I’m almost finished with a contemporary that I plan on self-publishing as an experiment.

I’m going back to work now. Just a little longer…

Yes, four. Four books in one over arching plot. Woo hoo!

When I started this project, I had the characters and ideas for one book. After ten months of spare time and fifty thousand words, I was stuck.

That book is now Book Three.

So, here I am to blog on my progress and start a living diary of my writing from here on in.

Book One needs finished touches and a second set of eyes. Seventy thousand words and a whole lot of excitement.

Book Two needs further development of antagonists and some more love. Almost there.

Book Three is still a mess of fifty thousand words. Good ideas with a desperate need for structure.

Book Four: almost perfect, needs development of climactic scene.

I’ll post a work in progress page with links for my projects as I go along here. Time to get serious!

Over the last week I have been trying to iron out the ending for my first novel. After a lot of consideration – and the opinions of my friends and family – I (gulp) trashed the last few pages.
Right now I am working on further development of the antagonistic elements. At the same time, one of my supporting characters hasn’t been fleshed out enough.
So, in the hopes of figuring all of this out, I decided to step back and write the supporting character’s story in novella/anthology entry format. I’m 13,000 words in as of today.
So far this has been incredibly rewarding, and I have a ton of ideas about where to go with the novel length story line.
More to come, soon I hope.

After reading the opinions of dozens of published authors, publishers, and agents, I have decided to attempt a similar, though perhaps more manageable, approach. I think I’ll test the waters with ten active inquiries at a time.

Today I’m working on my Spreadsheet for Success, as I’ve oh-so-cleverly dubbed it, composed of the contests I’m entering over the next two months, the agents I’d love to work with, and the houses I dream of being published under. Take a look at the screen shots for my basic outline.

Wish me luck. I’ll definitely need it.
