Unknown

So before Hurricane Irene even hit the east coast of the United States, I had been doing some private "Bless & Release" sessions with people helping them move through the storms of their lives. Several of my clients lost their jobs. Some were even close to retirement and wonder, "WHY ME? WHY NOW?" Another had lots of responsibilities with jobs, an unhealthy spouse and children to care for. The list is endless.

Have you ever been through a storm or hurricane and found it to be so big, you thought you were going to have to build an ark? Have you ever driven through a torrential downpour and wondered if you would EVER see the sun again?

Sometimes, in life, we have our own "storms". Sometimes the storms come in the loss of a loved one, either through divorce, separation or death. Sometimes we lose our homes, like in the case of a hurricane, tornado, flooding, or earthquake. Sometimes we lose our cars in an accident. Sometimes we lose our money in the financial markets. Sometimes we lose our health. Sometimes we lose our hope. Sometimes we lose sight of all of our dreams. Sometimes we lose our children to college, marriage, or at war. Often times, in the darkest part of the storm, we seem to lose faith in ourselves. We lose our confidence and hope. Yet, most of us seem to weather the storms of life and come out of it ok.

Have you ever looked at a large tree? Do you wonder....how many storms has this tree seen? Do you think about how deep the trees roots get with each passing year? Have you noticed that most healthy trees can move and sway with the storms that come its way?

We, too, can root ourselves like trees. We can dig deep with the roots of our souls and make a decision that this, too, shall pass. Some trees sustain the storm longer and better than others. People are no different. Yet, the trees and people make decisions as to how many storms they will weather. They make a decision if it's worth fighting for or not.

Personally, I think most storms are worth fighting for, because at a certain point, when you have won the battle of the storm, it feels really terrific to know that you have that survivor capability. The deep rooted feeling of anchoring yourself in the "storm".

So here's a helpful "Bless & Release" activity for you as you weather the storms of life. I've used it with sever of my individual clients, as well as in my talks. Get a journal, notebook or a piece of paper and write down the storm that you are going through. Write down every single emotion you have attached to it. Write how you are feeling as you move through the storm. Don't worry about grammar, punctuation or anything else other than writing down your thoughts and feelings. Now read it out loud. Does it still seem bad? Sometimes just doing a purging of your thoughts this way can make it seem like it's not so bad after all.

Now take a piece of paper and divide it in half. Write down CAN and CAN NOT. In the CAN column write down what you CAN control about the situation. Do the same with the CAN NOT column. For example, if you just went through the hurricane, and are facing home repairs, write HURRICANE in the CAN NOT column. You can't control a hurricane. In the CAN column write down what you need to do to move through this "storm". For example, buying a pump and eliminating water out of your basement is a CAN do. Calling contractors and trying to figure out a way to present to them that you need to be their top priority. Did you attempt to protect your home but yet, it failed? You tried to control it.

There are many things in our lives that we can not control. Look at these "storms" as some sort of present that has been given to you. A gift. A blessing in disguise. Likely when you move through the storm, you will find that in the long run, looking back it all turned out alright.

I remember when my own home flooded, I was devastated. I loved our beautifully furnished basement. My office was there! Once our insurance company helped us move through it, we created such a beautiful space that our teenage children were bringing their friends to OUR home to hang out. Such a gift. Such a beautiful thing to have happen.

So move through the "storms' quickly and if you feel yourself getting stuck, do not hesitate to do a one hour consultation with me to help you move through it. Don't get stuck. Nothing feels better than to push through.

May all your "storms" and challenges be your most beautiful blessings.

Go and make it an AWESOME DAY!
:)

Last week I visited some islands in the Caribbean, at the same time the tsunami hit Japan. These events got me thinking about how we cope with the tsunamis of life. The times in your life when all of a sudden you are faced with losing a loved one, either through an emotional or physical death. How about he times in your life when you are facing financial ruin, due to the markets' quick descent? Has there been a time in your life when a health challenge just slaps you up the side of the head?

All of these challenges can feel like a tsunami, an out-of-the blue tidal wive in your life. They can come up at the least expected time, and you wonder, "Why me? Why now?"

In my book GOING GREEN WITH YOUR SELF-ESTEEM, I talk about such challenges in life. I help people to look at these tsunamis, or challenges, as an actual blessing in your life. To take these challenges, and quickly change your mindset to look at them like a blessing will help people to move through these "tsunamis" more quickly.

How do you do this? By harnessing your move positive attribute(s)! What are you reallllllly good at doing? What is a great trait about you that people comment on all the time? What possible good could you find in this tsunami-like moment?

Yes, life is full of it's challenges, and tsunami-like events. However, we all have them at some point in our lives. Embrace them as a gift or a blessing, and see if you don't recover from your tsunami times more quickly. Harness your positive traits and focus on how good you are, and what good you can derive from your tsunami. Once you accomplish that, you will be able to release the tsunami and get back to ground zero. Embrace your challenges, love yourself and all of your great traits, and as always......make it an AWESOME DAY!

Blessings! Always!!!!

:)
Melissa Wittenborn

PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER/AUTHOR

GOING GREEN WITH YOUR SELF-ESTEEM

For more information on booking me to speak go tohttp://www.momotivation.com/

Are you a "Weed" or "Flower"?

ARE YOU A "WEED" OR "FLOWER"?

"What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered." Unknown

As I was shopping for office supplies this past week, I noticed parents and children excitedly running through the store for school supplies. They were experiencing new classes, new friends, new teachers, new activities, new learning at the start of the school year. The parents get a much needed break from 24/7 entertainment for children with too much free time in the summer, but now are immediately back to the grind of making sure their children follow through on their assignments and school responsibilities.

Some children start back to school feeling like a "weed". Dealing with fears about what the new school year brings for them. They wonder what their new teachers will be like. They are concerned if they will fit in at school.

Adults also start to contemplate what it is they have accomplished in the past 8 months. Some adults are even envious that children get a "clean slate" every year, while they remain in the same old drudge of day-to-day life. The day-to-day tasks of making ends meet, of arranging their work schedules around their children's various school and after-school activities, of keeping the household humming, as well as limiting stress for themselves and their families. Parents also sometimes feel like "weeds" in their home and work environments. As adults we oftentimes wonder if we are a "weed" with undiscovered virtues or if perhaps we need to take a new direction with our lives.

So how can you become a flower? How can you change your "weed" mentality into a "flower" mentality?

One way to help yourself is to sit down and think about what your strengths are. What are you good at? What are other people always complimenting you on? To help you with these questions try doing these 3 quick easy things.

1. Write down one word that describes you.
2. Write down one thing you know you are good at.
3. Write down one sentence that identifies your strengths.

Put these on 3 separate index cards and every morning when you wake up say these 3 things aloud to yourself. Soon you will discover that the "weed" mentality quickly unfolds into a blossoming beautiful "flower" we call YOU!

Many blessings to you and your challenges!
Melissa

For more information on booking me to speak go tohttp://momotivation.com/

Winners

WINNERS!

Are you a winner? Do you think you COULD be a winner? Does winning anything seem too far out of your reach?

Why do some of us think we can't be winners? You don't have to win the Olympic Gold Medal to be a "winner". You don't have to be the class valedictorian to be a "winner".
Do you think some of the Haitian survivors might be considered "winners"? What about the man who was yelling at demolition people in Haiti to STOP with the heavy equipment because his wife was alive under the rubble? He got his wife to respond back to him after being buried under the rubble for over 6 days . He was yelling at people that YES his wife was alive in spite of the odds against her. Is this woman's husband a "winner"? Is this woman a "winner"?

I think all of us have positive attributes within ourselves to all be winners. I think that every person could really sit down and convince themselves that they are really good at something. Some people are smart. Some people are clever. Some people are pretty. Some people have a pretty smile. Some people are artistic. Some people are creative. Some people are good with numbers. Some people see the good in people. Some people are just "good".

So go out and be a "winner" in some big or small way. My guess is that your new definition of a winner will be your new design on life.

If you are looking for someone to challenge your group to have a more winning attitude, feel free to call me at 630-747-8221 or e-mail me at mo_motivation@yahoo.com and I will share with you how to:

1 Start over with your life after experiencing challenging setbacks.

2. Embrace your positive attributes to help your mindset shift to a more positive way of thinking.

3. . Embrace your unique qualities to build success in your life.

For more information on booking me to speak go to
http://momotivation.com

Winners With Positive Attributes

Ever wonder what positive attributes winners have?

Winners are goal oriented people. They design a plan to keep their focus going, even when they think they can't. They lay out the foundation that tells them which steps to take in order to get to their goal. Winners are people who believe in themselves and what they are doing. Winners do not let negative people deter them from their thinking.

Winners will take what they know they can do, their positive attributes, and focus on what they can do and figure out a way to make it better. Winners will always have a plan. Winners will "Bless and Release" the negative thoughts and use their subconcious minds to reinforce what their concious minds want to believe.

If you are a small business owner, educator, or a team coach, call me to help you:

1. Build team spirit to devlop a winning team.
2. Increase academic success by developing healthy mental attitudes.
3. Increase success in life by embracing your unique talents.

For more information on booking me to speak go to
http://momotivation.com/
