I can't begin to tell you the whirlwind my last few weeks of the semester were. I had projects & presentations galore, plus rehearsals for our Directing Studio scenes. Gotta love that multi-tasking! And then of course you have to fit in time to pack up to go home. I find that I never really notice the vast abundance of STUFF that I have until I'm packing it up. Especially clothes. I must have like 20 something dresses haha and of course I'll be shopping for more next week!

GRADUATION!
So in an effort to stay a few extra days, procrasticnate packing AND be able to go to graduation to bid many of my beloved senior friends farewell, I volunteered to be a Flag Bearer at the ceremony. So that means I got to wear a awesome red gown-thing and carry a HUGE flag. Always a good time haha minus the whole wind thing

OMG...I'M A SENIOR!
AH I'M A SENIOR NOW....[insert panic attack here]...let's not talk about it. I'm perfectly content being in denial until graduation day lol

Well readers! Thanks a bunch for reading my blog and I'll be sure to keep it updated throughout the summer with all of my city & albright adventures! :]

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. Howdy there readers!

So let me tell you about my past, action packed weekend here at Albright...

V-DAY

On Friday night the Thespian Society had it's annual fund raising performance of V-Day which is a collection of monologues about women. The entire event was aimed towards stopping violence against women, and all the proceeds were donated to a local woman's shelter. I participated by performing one of the monologues and it was a grand old time. GIRL POWER!

Open House! YAY!

On Saturday morning I showed up to the campus center at 8:30 a.m bright eyed and busy tailed! Why was I, a college student, up at the unfathomable hour of 8:30 in le morning? BECAUSE IT WAS OPEN HOUSE! YAY! And I was also among the ambassadors who attended the Scholarship Brunch along with prospective students and was able to eat some de-licious Albright food. Don't even get me started on the cookies! haha Anywho it was a really fun open house. I got to be on a new thing they were trying called the POPS/Orientation Panel and play all sorts of fun games. Who doesn't like playing games? So after hours of prospective student fun-time I was off to.....

THE 24 HOUR THEATRE PROJECT

This year a couple of friends and I got together and wanted to do a 24 Hour Theatre Project. A project that would give us 24 hours to write, direct, produce, design and perform a play. E-GAD! So we put up sign-up sheets and started to get to work. It began Saturday at 6 pm and from then until 2 am the writers had time to write their 10 minute plays. We had a short "nap break" and then everyone met at 6 am Sunday morning to begin rehearsals. We then had from 6 am - 5 pm to rehearse our pieces and we met again at 5 to do a tech runthrough and then performed at 6 pm Sunday night. WOOT! I can't even BEGIN to describe how much fun it all was! I served as a Producer/Set Designer for a play and it was a thrilling experience. It's crazy what could be put together in only 24 hours! I'd have to say my favorite parts were running around scrambling to find set pieces and props, and then doing massive and obnoxious amounts of advertising EVERYWHERE. Bathrooms, walls, hallways you name it, there was a poster there. Haha honestly you couldn't turn anywhere in the campus center without seeing a sign. But thats how you get audiences right!

So yep, that was my action packed weekend in detail. Oh and then right after the performance of the 24 Hour Projects we had rehearsal for the current Domino Player production-in-progress "The Cherry Orchard" from 7 - 10. So in grand total that was 27 hours of theatre in total, a theatre majors dream :]

Well that's all I have to blurb about now. I'm still in the process of catching up on sleep haha

"Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia" [Charles Schultz]

p.s here is a link to the video journal I kept during the 24 Hour Theatre Project :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Slt2LZ0c_s8

Hey readers!

So as you may have deduced from this blog title in my life there is SO MUCH GOING ON. Yay!

So this year the campus Alternative Spring Break club decided to go down to Florida to volunteer at a camp for kids with disabilites. The week we went it was for children on ventilators, and it was sooo much fun! We all spent the entire week doing arts & crafts, going on boats, fishing and making projects in the wood shop. Also, having to be up at 7 every morning has gotten me stuck in this whole "waking up super early" trend, even though I'm back at school. Hello morning workout haha. But Camp Boggy Creek was truly an amazing time. It's really funny because now we'll all walk around campus singing these camp songs and no one understands haha XD

All My Projects

For some reason this week back at school seemed to be SUPER busy. I also came to the realization of all the different Theatre related projects that I'm a part of. I'm currently working on: directing a piece for the "Boys Will Be Boys" male playwright festival, Improv & Sketch Comedy Troupe, Virtual Black Box Theatre Project, co-creating a Sceneic Design club, acting in 2 plays for the Green and Growing Student Playrwrights Festival, producing the 24 Hour Theatre Project and in rehearsal for the upcomming production of The Cherry Orchard. WHOA! And even though I'm always running around, I love everything that I'm doing so its perfectly fine. Gotta love that busy Albrightian spirit!

Well yall, thats about all I have for now. My bed is calling me haha

We had one this past Saturday and it was super great because it was all accepted students, and it was fun to meet people who were definitley coming to Albright :] And of course it was great to get some of those UH-MAZING Albright cookies. It had been far too long since my last fix haha XD

THEATRE STUFF!
Yay theatre stuff! So Our Lady of 121st Street closed this past weekend and it had such a good run! There was a pretty full audience every night and I saw the show like 5 times, all for free because of ushering yay poorness! haha but it was a really good time and the entire cast did a real bang up job! This past friday we also had a improv & sketch comedy spoof show called Our Lady of Improv: Where the Dead Nun At?! and it was a HIT! :] a bunch of people stayed after the Our Lady show to see it and we even had a bunch of people who came just to see the improv show! SO AWESOME!

Up next on the mainstage show list is The Cherry Orchard which I've been casted in [yay!] so you ALL better come and see it! I'll be looking for ya haha :]
Snow Days!

So on campus the cancelled school at 5pm the night before it snowed so everyone was overjoyed! haha it was like being in elementary school again and waiting for that listing to come on your tv. I spent the whole day sledding, drinking hot coca & sledding like a little kid. There was also a lack-of-sleds amongst my friends and I so we resorted to heavy duty trashbags which were very effective haha. Also, a pretty epic snowball fight broke out. I still can't believe how much it snowed! It was like up past my knee. It felt very "day after tomorrow" haha. On the second snow day I decided to be a "good student" and actually did work that I needed to do, but thankfully the next day was Friday so it was like having 2 weekends in one week. And who wouldn't want that?

Books Books Books

So for some reason this semester it seems like I have a TON of reading to do for all of my classes. The majority are short stories and plays but I feel like I always have a book in my hand haha. Which is a good thing however my tv is looking a bit rusty haha. I also find it funny that after I finish reading a bunch of plays other books seem longer because they aren't written in dialogue. If only everything could be written in dialogue haha.

Well yall thats all I got for now! See ya soon & thanks for reading!

Hey Readers! Welcome to yet another installment of my blog-a-palooza! In this issue I will be talking about the madness that has been my life so far since my return to Albright from Thanksgiving break and a random assortments of things.

PUNCH WEEK

This past Monday officially began Crucnh week here at jolly old Albright, aka the week in which TONS of work, papers, projects and assignments of every shape and form all happen to be due at the SAME TIME! haha not that we students don't have syllabusses for every class listing the stuff for this week, but it still somehow manages to sneak up on ya. I'm sure you can relate. So in honor of the constant feeling of stress that is associated with Crunch Week, I've begun referring to it as PUNCH WEEK, because you feel like punching everything haha. And I think it's starting to catch on :] YAY!

Alternative Spring Break

We began fundraising for our ASB club today by selling Albright Christmas Ornaments and I'm super excited. For yall who don't know what ASB is, we are a group who go somewhere and volunteer for spring break and have a great time! Last year we went to Galveston, Texas to help with hurricane relief and it was soooo much fun! I'd never been to Texas before but it's amazing! We got to sleep/camp out in a Elementary School [complete with ABC123 wall decorations], and go to a rodeo, and even do deconstruction with tyvac suits and sledgehammers. Fun times. Anywho, this year we're going to Camp Boggy Creek in Florida to volunteer with kids who have a terminal illnesses. I'm so excited! :D

Anywho, thats about all I got for now readers. I'll try to post again before break and keep ya posted on life at le Albright.

Thanks again for reading! :]

"you'll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile"
well unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts a few friends and I were unable to go to the Albright Broadway trip to see HAIR [which i realllllllllly wanted to see] so we decided to make our own Broadway trip! We packed up our thangs and drove up one Sunday morning and spent a splendid day in le city. We went and got the super cheap $37 tickets and then roamed around the city aimlesly for the day. We went to that famous serendipity 3 cafe and I FINALLY got to taste my first Frrrrrrrrrrrrozen Hot Chocolate! YAY! I've been trying to go there for the past 3 years, but everytime I go the wait is always 46893678647832758.5 hours long. However, when we went there was NO WAIT! HUZZAH! So needless to say I was quite thrilled and that frrrrrrrrozen hot chocolate [thats exactly how they put it in the menu haha] was DELICIOUS!

After some more gallivanting throughout the city it was time for the show! YAY! So, I'd been listening to the soundtrack since I went to a cast CD signing in the summer and I was already in love with the show from that. But I must say that the show was AMAZING! It really let me release my inner hippie, which wasn't really that hard since i'm a tree hugging/ vegetarian/theatre major haha. Anywho, the show was really great and there weren't that many people in the theatre so we were able to move from our nose bleed seats to the $80 seats! SCHWING! One thing I LOVED about the show was the amount of audience interaction. The cast jumps and dances all throughout the audience at least 4 times in the show. I got patted and given flowers to and I didn't even know what to do haha. It was such a good time! And then at the end my friends and I went up onstage and danced with the rest of the cast! UH-MAZING! I can now successfully say that I've danced & sung on a Broadway stage!
My Weekend
This past weekend and super dee duper fun! I'd been saving up money for the past few weeks and after I finished paying my bills I had extraaa! WOO HOO! Plus this past week I got a $25 Visa giftcard [basically gold in the eyes of a college student haha] and my friend Brandon & I planned an EPIC shopping trip to the Philadelphia Outlets as well as the King of Prussia Mall. WHICH IS MASSIVE! We shopped for a good 8 hours haha and it was a ton-o-fun. At the mall we even went into the ritzy fancy schmancy stores like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Coach and I was like a kid in a candy store. A very expensive candy store haha. On a more affordable note, I BOUGHT A SNUGGIE! It's zebra print and just simply wonderful haha. Now, I used to be among the skeptics and in the whole "its just a bathrobe backwards!" crowd, but I bought my friend one for her birthday and after I tried her's on I fell in love! They are sooooo comfortable! And it's soooo much more that a backwards bathrobe or a blanket because it's super warm [I can't put it on without wanting to take a nap haha] and its also zebra print! Needless to say I'm in love and wish I could take it everywhere XD

Moving on, after our epic shopping spree we went to the movies and saw The Fourth Kind. AAAH! Now, I'm a big scardey cat but I LOVE watching scary movies. However, this one was a bit too scary for me haha. I think it was the whole "based on actual events/ includes real footage" thing. It was a pretty good movie overall from what I could see from between my fingers haha.

This Week
This week I have pretty much no life haha. It's tech week for The Miser [which I'm managing props for] and I also have a bunch of assignments due. Do you ever feel like all teachers plot to have the same assignments due on the same days? Ah I already can't wait for the weekend haha. The Miser opens this Friday, and that means I get to dress up all pretty! Yay! Also, there is a open house Saturday. YAY OPEN HOUSE! WOO-HOO! I love them not only because I get to meet lovely prospectives, but there are also ALBRIGHT COOKIES! The best cookies you will ever taste in your entire life. Make sure you snag a couple if you'll be there!

Well readers thats about all I have for now! Check back again soon, and if you'll be at the open house be sure to say hi! :]
Fish Out Of Water!
Mkay, so FOOW sadly came to a close 2 weeks ago [please pardon the time differences of my stories, i promise they'll end being up to date haha]. ANYWHO It was an amaaaaazing run! We had almost sold out shows every night, and the audience looooved it! FOOW has will surley go down as one of my favorite shows I've done of all time. My parents came to see it on the Sunday showing and they still can't stop talking about it! I was glad they came to see the show, and even happier because I got to go out to dinner afterwards. YUM FREE FOOD! Plus, on top of all this wonderfull-ness I was also nominated to compete for one of the Irene Ryans Acting Awards/Scholarships for my portrayal of Wanda June in FOOW. SCHWING! :D

Le Equality March in DC
Last weekend [the 11th] a couple of friends and I went to the National Equality March in D.C with the GSA group at Albright! It was SO MUCH FUN! And quite the adventure as well. To start off the bus for the trip left at 7:45, I repeat 7:45 IN THE MORNING. And this was on a Sunday so thats like blashmemous for a college student to be up at that time on a weekend haha. But it was going to be really worth it so I knew I could handle it. HOWEVER the night before some friends and I drove up to South Jersey to surprise on of our friends at his fashion show. We went, saw the show [funtimes!] and then went to a 24-Hour IHOP [SURLEY one of the greatest inventions of all time] and ended up not making it back to Albright until.......are you ready for this?..........4 A.M. So....that gave me about....a good about 2 hours of sleep so I could get up and get ready. So I figured "yea, I'm a champ. I can do this" and I set my alarm for 6:45 , TRIPLE CHECKED IT, laid my clothes out for the next day and passed out!

I then woke up at........drumroll please...7:40! How that happened? I HAVE NO IDEA! HAHA. I guess I was so tired I must've hit my alarm while still asleep and ignored it. Anywho, I freaked out, jumped out of bed and brushed my teeth and then started to get dressed at hyper speed. All the while I called one of my friends I had gone to NJ with and who was also going on the trip and was talking to them on speaker-phone seeing if they were concious while getting dressed haha. In the end we both ended up making the bus, and sleeping all the way there.

Once we got there, fatigue was out the window. There were SO MANY PEOPLE there it was crazy! We all just hopped into the mass of people and began getting our march on. It was so amazing to be there, because I've always wanted to march for something, and what better cause than equality? Everyone had signs, and placards and flags waiving in the air and it was quite the sight to see. We marched all throughout D.C, past the White House and straight up to the Capitol Building. It was alot of fun chanting and singing and some of us folks from Albright even made up our own and got others to join in! First I started singing "All You Need Is Love" by the Beatles and then my friend Andre made up this Spice Girls on that was HILARIOUS! This one random guy even had me yet it into his megaphone haha. Then there was a rally with a bunch of speakers including Cynthia Nixon [the Sex&the City lover inside me DIED!], Judy Sheppard, and Lady Gaga. After the rally, everyone dispersed and attempted to find food. We were all uber dehydrated from marching around and chanting that all I wanted to do was guzzle a gallon or 2 of water. And me being a picky vegetarian I couldn't really find anything to eat, so my dinner was a grape soda, XL lemonade, XL water and a cookies & cream milkshake. It was AWESOME!

MIDTERMS WEEK
Where.do.I.begin? Well, after we all got back from the Equality March [which was at about 9-ish] I just went and passed out because I had been running on only about 3 hours of sleep so I was quite tired. Unfortunatley I had to wake up to.......MIDTERMS WEEK. It seemed like every assingment/test from my 4 classes decided to spring up on me at the same time. I had at least 1 thing due for all my classes and they were all due on WEDNESDAY. OF COURSE. So I spent Monday & Tuesday slaving over a hot laptop in the library getting everything done. On Monday I was up doing work from 6 - 10 the next morning [up a total of 25 hours]. I survived by running on two 5 Hour Energies & Sweedish Fish. Luckily I was able to actually get sleep the rest of the week, but worked right up until my last class on Friday. For my one class my partner and I even overwrote one of our papers by 10 pages! XD I couldn't believe it! Campus was so fun all week though, because everyone was super delerious from being so sleep deprived due to all the work. BUT luckily it is now the glory that is FALL BREAK! YAY!

So now I am currently spending my Fall Break at home in my comphy bed amongst all my stuffed animals and my dog recovering from the heck that was MIDTERMS WEEK. I shall now spend the next few days hibernating in my bed waking only to have movie marathons & shop! Oh such a great life to live! Plus, its my birthday on Wednesday [the 21st]! AH! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ABOUT TO TURN 20! I'll be so old! :[ ........But on the plus side I'll get lots of birthday money for shopping haha. Oh...I think I'll just keep telling everyone I'm 19 for another year until I'm 21 haha! Now I've just gotta avoid getting ponded in this cold weather.

Wish me luck & thanks for reading! :D

p.s check for some fun videos soon!
Hello readers! Thanks for checkin back in on lil ol me! I again apologize for taking 5 thousand years in between this post and my last but allow me to explain for my typical college days are back in full swing! Shall I give ye olde update?

I got a part in the play Fish Out Of Water!
HOO-RAH! I got the part of the super sassy flight attendant appropriatley named "Wanda June"! HILARIOUS! Anywho rehearsals are now in full swing for the show opens next weekend [Homecoming Weekend! WOOT!]. Similar to the first show of last year, *You Are Here, F.O.O.W [who loves abreviations? I do!] is a new play that was written by one of our professors [Jeff Lentz] and our set designer [Cocol Bernal] over the summer and is ready to do in the fall! It's always a fun experience working on a new play, especially when the director is also the playwright, because they have the ability/freedom to alter and re-write the script throughout the process. So I believe we are on script #4 haha but I'm pretty sure this one's a keeper! So if you're going to be in the area feel free to stop by and see the show! Oct. 1 - 4th! BE THERE!

Classes & Such
So, because I'm such a HUGE theatre lover/geek, I pretty much took the majority of my theatre requriment courses already so for the semester I had to buckel down and do all my communications stuff & finish up my general requirements. I'm currently taking Topics in Math [boo numbers], Religion & the Enviroment [quite interesting], Public Relations & Advertising [hard, but fun] and last but not least, Free Expression [not at ALL what I expected]. So, when you hear "Free Expression" you tend to think something sort of laid back & relaxing right? WRONG. It's an entire class about the First Ammendment & is chock-full of legal jargon. It makes me feel like I'm in law school, but alas, I'll survive somehow.

Fun Stuff!
In other news, when I haven't been at rehearsal or banging my head against my Free Expression book I've been keeping busy with all the fun stuff here at jolly old Albright! I've been pumpin up iron at the gym just about everyday [i guess thats fun?], hanging out with my pals in this lovely bi-polar weather, and I'm planning on going to Campus Philly this Saturday, which is pretty much a day in Philadelphia where all college students get free access to a bunch of things like museums, galleries & even the Eastern State Penetentary [creepy right?!]. There's also a TON of freebies like Starbucks samples, T-Shirts, posters, frisbee's ect. And I believe there is even a concert later that night. Another good thing about all this is that the bus to and from the city is also FREE! Thanks Albright! haha

Anywho thats about all I have to blurb about at the moment. I super pinky promise I'll write more regularly!

p.s am I the only one who's addicted to Wednesday nights because of So You Think You Can Dance & Glee?

"When men attempt bold gestures, generally, it’s considered romantic. When women do it, it’s often considered desperate or psychotic" - Sex & The City

I'M A JUNIOR! AHHHHH! WHY?!?!

As you can tell I'm not exactly thrilled that I'm 1/2 way done with my college career, although I am quite pleased to be back at jolly old Albright! I actually moved in about a week ago and a few days earlier than my fellow upperclassmen to prepare/rehearse/perform in a Domino Players showcase-type-thingy for the freshmen. It was basically 3 short comedic plays that all related in some way to things the freshmen would be dealing with such as meeting new people, foreign language & taking a new identity. My buddy Bill Neitz and I did a piece by David Ives called The Universal Language and it was QUITE the experience. Mostly because the majority of the show is written in a made-up language called "unamunda". So lines such as "I scoop moochko" & "Yabado if you do do" were plentiful! And although it was quite a challenge learning it all in about a week, it was a very fun experience. And all the freshmen loved it! So everybody wins! YAY!

In other news, I can't stop buying things for my dorm room. I bought a boat-load of groceries because I have this pasta -pro cooker thing that I CAN'T WAIT to use. It cooks any pasta & veggies in a glass tube using only hot water. Who'd-a-thunk-it?! And then I got a awesome ottoman, several dishes & various other fun things that I found at Le Dollar Store. But I'm pledging not to buy anything else for the next two weeks.....maybe.

OH! So I auditioned last night for the upcoming Domino Players Production "Fish Out of Water" and it was sooooo much fun! But then again how could any audition that begins with you dance-jamming out to Jason Mraz NOT be awesome?

Anywho! Thats about all I got for now! Thanks for reading and check back again soon! [Sorry for the 50 year time span between this blog and the previous one lol]

"Everything has it’s time and place, so don’t worry if you don’t get what you want right now."

Hey yall! Welcome to my first official post-de-blog! My name is Melonie aka MELONIE BAILEY! [If you come to Albright, you'll notice that many people like to scream my name on campus...especially when I give tours] and I am a junior [AHHHHHH 1/2 OF MY COLLEGE CAREER IS DONE =[ ] and I'm going through a bit of a mid-college crisis. I'm a Theatre & Communications major at lovely old Albright! I'm involved in numerous groups on campus such as the Domino Players Theatre Company, Less Than or Equal To Improv & Sketch Comedy Troupe [gee thats a long name], The Alternative Spring Break Club, and an Ambassador to name a few! And I'm here to tell you about ME and MY LIFE! So lets begin! :D

Todays Topic: My summer so far!

WOW ITS JULY! This summer seems to be going by uber fast, but I guess thats because I've been trying to keep busy. I've been spending most of my time working away at a country club snack bar serving up snacks to people with names like "Winston Worthington", and for the days I'm not working I've been either hanging out with my buddies or running off to NYC :] On my most recent trip I went to the Stardust Diner on Broadway where the waiters & waitresses sing [kinda like ongoing staff karaoke] and it was SUPER AWESOME because our waiter was adorable and he even let me sing a bit. Then I went to the Museum of Natural History [yes I was on a little bit of a Night At The Museum rush] and it was a pretty good time! It was hilarious how many of the kids there were walking around quoting lines from the movie......ok I was doing it too XD. Oh and some random guy there who was at the diner before came up to me and was like "Hey were you just at the Stardust diner" and I was like "Yup" and he was like "Ah I heard you singing! Good job!" and I was like "Well thank you sir!". Broadway here I come! Lol

I've also recently been seeing this new musical Next To Normal, and I say seeing because I've gone three times so far :] I continue to go back because a] the show is made out of pure AWESOME b] the early rush tickets are only $25 and c] THESHOWISAWESOME! Oh and the actors in it are SUPER NICE! After the show at the stage door when you wait for autographs/pictures they actually take time and talk to everyone individually and they recognized my friend and I the second time we went! Oh and one of them, Aaron Tveit who is just simply made of wonderful said and I quote "You have beautiful eyes! I mean I just looked up and wow...gorgeous." After he said that I was literally floating. Needless to say it made my life :] So all in all If you are in the NYC area anytime during your summer shananagins I strongly urge you to see it! It will be the best emotional rollercoaster you've ever been on!

Hmmm...other fun summer-things....Oh so I saw The Hangover, which I'm sure everyone in the WORLD has done by now, and it was QUITE the laugh! The Tiger Song doth be my current ringtone :D

Sooo...hope ya enjoyed reading my little blurp! More shall be on the way!

p.s enjoy the photos below!
