Rock for Kids Michael Jackson tribute

Rock for Kids, an organization that raises money to help provide music lessons for underprivileged children, was inspired to pay tribute to the king of pop and in tandem to help to raise money for the organization. ImissyouMJ.com is a collective photo memorial that includes 10,000 photo plots available for purchase; the plots come together to form a mosaic of MJ's famous white glove. A $25 donation allows you to submit your own photo into the mosaic and receive a copy of this poster once the squares have been filled. Proceeds go to Rock for Kids and the poster itself will be presented to the Jackson family as a tribute.

UK police raid bbq, blame Facebook

UK riot police raided a 30th birthday barbecue because they thought the organizer, who had invited his friends via Facebook, was staging a rave. UK police have the power to stop raves (see Part V, 63), but in this case, they removed about 15 people ready to eat some burgers.

Entourage

Entourage, one of my favorite television shows, has been pretty lame this season. Last season ended on a high note with Vince scoring the lead role in Martin Scorsese's Gatsby and Johnny Drama buying a bar in Queens. Turtle somehow got Jamie Lynn Seigler to be his girlfriend and the Eric Murphy group was doing well. Expectations were high. But, when Season 6 began, Vince was finished shooting the film and after 6 episodes to date, Drama's bar has yet to be mentioned. So much for a season in New York. Anyway, last night's episode was easily the season's best and featured cameos by Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg and New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady. Check out the video in which Mark Wahlberg impersonates Jonnhy Drama; it's pretty damn funny (about 2:30 into the video). To see Tom Brady's best scene, click here. He wasn't half bad.

On vacation

The memeticians are on vacation. Memetician EA Blair is currently visiting a friend in Alaska. I'd call him a lucky bastard, but he planned the entire trip well in advance, so he's not really lucky. He's just a smart. And he saw a moose yesterday while playing disc golf. Memetician Joe is in Cape May, NJ. Not as exciting as Alaska, but probably more relaxing. On Friday he will then be heading to Brooklyn to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals for free. He will not see a moose. Memetician Tim is not on vacation, but is busy uncovering one of the greatest scandals in the history of our country. He did not or will see any moose, but saw plenty of jackasses. 50 greatest coaches, Dan Gable snubbed

The Sporting News released their list this past Wednesday of the the 50 greatest coaches of all time. Now, I'm sure that there are many coaches who could possibly be on this list are are not, and I know I am biased towards NCAA wrestling. But no Dan Gable? C'mon! 21 years are the head coach at the University of Iowa. 21 Big Ten titles, 15 National Championships. Enough said. Just because wrestling isn't a major sport doesn't mean it doesn't deserve recognition.

A study conducted by the College Sports Council based on NCAA participation and scholarship data, shows that in NCAA Division I "gender symmetric sports" (teams where both male and female athletes participate), female students are accorded far more opportunities than male students to compete and earn scholarships.
