I Just Rediscovered My Blog After 8 Years… And It Felt Like Finding an Old Letter to Myself

2026-08-05T19:42:17.360+01:00

Today, I accidentally stumbled upon something I hadn't visited in years—my old Blogspot blog, Memoirs of Rain Vedutti.

The last post?

2018.

Eight years.

It felt like opening an old drawer and finding handwritten letters from a younger version of myself. I couldn't help but smile.

Back then, blogging was a ritual.

Uploading on your blog, broadcasting the links to your friends on your blackberry and facebook (seems like another life), reading and responding to comments. Feeling the new connections in the the rapidly expanding global community. Oh I can smell the air of the time. Nostalgic! Lol.

We wrote because we had stories to tell, thoughts to untangle, and memories worth preserving. We sat at our computers, not because an algorithm demanded daily uploads, but because posting and sharing your thoughts, images or words were enough.

Then life happened.

Work got busier. The Rain Vedutti Company grew. Photography became filmmaking. Films became documentaries. One project led to another, and before I knew it, the world had changed too.

Somewhere along the way, the internet shifted.

The long-form stories we once scrolled through became 15-second clips. Then 30-second reels. Then portrait videos filled our screens. Instagram became "Insta." TikTok exploded. Twitter became X. New platforms arrived, old ones evolved, and somehow, we all became editors, presenters, marketers, and content creators all at once.

Without even noticing, many of us quietly stopped writing.

Finding this old blog today reminded me that not every story has to fit into sixty seconds.

Some stories deserve paragraphs.

Some deserve pauses.

Some deserve to be read slowly with a cup of coffee.

So here I am, in August 2026, dusting off Memoirs of Rain Vedutti.

Not because I have a grand strategy.

Not because someone told me blogging is making a comeback.

But simply because it feels right.

Maybe this is me trying to rekindle something old.

Like taking a bite from an apple I left in the fridge years ago—not because I expect it to taste exactly the same, but because I'm curious. Curious to see what memories it brings back, what new conversations it starts, and where this little experiment might lead.

Let's see where this goes.

Now I'm curious about you.

When was the last time you actually read a Blogspot post or a personal blog?

Did you ever have a blog of your own? What was it about? Share your blogging memories in the comments—I would genuinely love to hear your stories.

Here's to old passions, new beginnings, and the unexpected joy of rediscovering forgotten corners of the internet.

Welcome back to Memoirs of Rain Vedutti.

And hey check us out @rainvedutti on instagram and tiktok and see what we have been up to.

Hasta la vista!

FOOD ADVENTURE WITH BUZZ9JA

2018-02-16T13:13:00.001+01:00

It's a few minutes after 1pm in Abuja; the capital city of Nigeria and about now most 9-5'ers are winding down with their daily work itinerary with a certain excitement tugging at the hamstrings of their hearts. Yup. It's another Friday and everyone can't wait to kick back. Have a few a beers, catch up on their favourite shows, go to their favourite hangout spots e.t.c. The city is "abuzz" with cheer and good spirits. If you find yourself in the heart of the city, there is an amazing rooftop grill and bar with exquisite wining and dining you don't want to miss out on. Here are some photos from when @buzz9jawww.instagram.com/buzz9ja & I (@rainvedutti www.instagram.com/rainvedutti) paid them (www.instagram.com/thecharcoalgrillabuja ) a visit. Thank me later ↑😉. If you have any place you would like us to visit kindly send a message with the necessary info.

Hike Trails With Thaoutdoortribe

2017-02-03T18:03:00.000+01:00

So last saturday was crazy fun. It was one of them free saturdays that come every once in a while. I would usually have woken up late, followed by a simultaneous late-heavy breakfast and movies with wifey, and like play like play it's night time and....I digress. Somehow my friend Frankie Mensah ( Insta - @uncle_franklyn) and I found ourselves en-route to the muster point by 6:30am ( that took a miracle + blackmail on frankie's part (something about how a Friday night should go, a girl and the morning after - but i digress again).
Hiking in the capital city of Abuja is becoming a societal norm and a fun way to network, meet new people and discover new places and your limits. It's also a sure way to have fun and burn calories at the same time. Pack a lot of water, a sense of humor, and an open mind.

Follow @thaoutdoortribe and @monstatribe on Instagram to find out when the next Hike is.

Cheers

A Foodies Christmas Journey

2013-12-25T13:12:00.002+01:00

So it's Christmas again and in the spirit of the Yuletide, I decided not to spend this years holidays cooped up in the studio shooting away. I decided that maybe it's about time I honour all those Christmas Invitations, to share in the warmth that families and homes are filled with this time of the year.

So, slightly hungover or like my MD friends would put it; suffering from a mild case of reactive hypoglycemia (hope i spelt that right), I strap on ma laptop/camera bag, packed with my chargers, modem and a huge appetite and I'm off on a Christmas journey that i hope will be filled with love, warmth, new and renewed friendships and of course good food(looking good so far). lol. So just stay tuned to this post as i update my Christmas journey. Merry Christmas to you!!!

A Wedding Tale...

2013-04-04T16:47:00.000+01:00

Once in a life time (for most people), we find that somebody that we want to settle down with, and there is this big fuss (understandably so); about the caterers (what kinda food that's going to be served and in what varieties), the size of the venue, decorations, drinks, invitation.....pheeeeeew. I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it. So you can imagine how possible it is to forget the most important of them all PHOTOGRAPHY (I.M.O).
Most couples call up or begin their search for a wedding photographer two (2) weeks or less before the "D-day". This leads to their literally scraping the bottom of their wedding budget for their Wedding Photography. Like my DJ friend Gabby would always say; "You can't get a Range Rover Sport at the price of a Volks-Wagen Bettle. Funny, but true.
Just in case it never crossed your minds, let me put it out there for you;

"You've got to take the Wedding Photography aspect of your budget seriously, because those beautiful moments come just once in a life time". You need to be sure that you left your Wedding Story to capable hands. Not some guy with a camera. Or worse; your friends with camera phones. lol.

So do your homework properly, budget right, meet with your wedding photographer(at least 3weeks to a month before the wedding), talk with him, tell him how you envision your day. He/she should be your best friend by "D-day". You wouldn't begin to understand the difference when your comfortable around your photographer.

Finally, to you (future brides and grooms to be and parents of future brides and grooms to be), always remember; "It is only right, that when the D-day comes and goes, at the end of that beautiful celebration of love, whence all food has been eaten and all the wine drunk, that you have a memento, frozen in time, that let's you relive that day...whenever you please".
