Young Living Essential Oil: Peppermint

Is been some time since my last post. Today, I would like to share with you Young Living Essential Oils.

Since I came back from UK, I heard about Young Living Essential Oils from my mum and one of my friend who have been using it. At first, I refused to used it or even want to know about it since I knew it was an MLM product. Being skeptical about it, I didn't bother trying the product. After a month later, when my mum kept on telling me how good the product was, I decided to give it a try. Now, I felt in love with the essential oils and would love to share this with my friends. Disclaimer: I am not doing this for MLM or business. So if your interested to know how the business plan works, I would not be able to tell you in details.. But i can introduce you to my friend if your interested to know about the plan. :)

There are few oils that I really love.. The first is the Young Living Peppermint Oil. Why Peppermint oil? Peppermint oil have many benefits. See the pictures below for some of the benefits. I love peppermint because I always have bad headaches and migraines since young. However, since using this, the headaches and migraines have been reduce. If I have a bad headaches, once I apply this oil few times a day, the pain reduces or even go away. It also helps concentration and make you feel awake especially in the morning. Imagined working up in the morning and you feel so tired and fatigue. This oil helps will definitely make you feel more energized and awake. Every time, when I am sleepy, I will rub it on my forehead and inhale it.. The other benefits is that it also helps in sore throat and fever too.. Drop one drop of peppermint into the water and drink it, and also inhaling or diffusing it... As for fever, rub the feet as well as your neck. This are some of the benefits that have helped me since I used this oil. You can drink, inhale or diffused it. Just be Warn! DO not diffused PEPPERMINT OIL at night, as it will make you stay awake. :) Unless you want to stay awake if your rushing for assignments or work, then diffused it.. My Experience as a Student Mentor in NTU!

Throughout my time at Nottingham Trent University, I am blessed and honored to have great memories and experiences that I will always cherished in my heart. Looking back at the 2 years at NTU, I had encountered many different situations, ups and even to my lowest point in my life. However, one of the experiences that I will always treasure is the great opportunity to be part of the International Post- Graduate Student Mentoring Scheme. In September 2012, the College of Arts and Science introduced a student-led mentoring scheme for incoming international students to assist them to settle into UK and NTU, providing a friendly point of contact as well as addressing any issues that may be affecting their studies. Student Mentor are also responsible to direct students to the necessary member of staff within NTU when necessary and notify relevant staff of broader issues that need to be addressed. In September 2012, I had the privilege to be part of the first intake to experience the new mentoring scheme. Through this scheme, I was able to make new people, gain more information about NTU and UK thus eases my transition as well as resolves any issues through contact with my student mentor. Knowing that this mentoring scheme helps new students settle down easily, I decided to volunteer myself to become an International Student Mentor to guide new international students. I became an International Postgraduate Student Mentor from January 2013 till Jun 2014. The experiences I gained through volunteering, as a Student Mentor was amazing. Throughout the time being as a student mentor, I was able to assist and provide new students with advices, guide and present their issues concerns to relevant members of staff. At the same time, while helping others in need and meeting wonderful people along the way, I was able to gain additional knowledge on different courses offered in NTU. Furthermore, by being a Student Mentor, I have the opportunity to demonstrate different types of skills such as leadership, communication, build my confidence level and professionally translate students concerns and demands into recommended and implementable solutions. This scheme had given me the chance to help new students as well as help me make wonderful connections and friendships with members of staff of different department as well as with my student mentees. The self-satisfaction has also been incredible when you are able to solve the concerns and issues faced by your student mentees. Therefore, please continue to support the International Student Program and be part of the amazing Student Mentor Scheme.

To complete and graduate have not been easy and smooth sailing. I had a really challenging time while in the process of completing my degree. I had health issues and it took be almost few months to recover from the surgery and then I was given more bad news after that. During that time, I wasn't sure whether I would be able to cope with everything especially when I am away from my family and in the foreign country! However, I am really glad to have wonderful people around me who continuously love, care, guide, support, encourage and reassure me that things will be fine. I am so glad to everyone and especially to my superb lecturers and placement colleagues for being there for me through out the difficult moment in my life. Without them, I might not have been able to stay strong and graduate with the results I am proud of. I am really glad that I persevere and stay strong during that time! Life is a roller coaster but as long as you persevere and stay strong, you will be able to achieved your goal. Do not let negative people waver your goal and dream and always be with positive people who will always help you to achieve your goal and dream! I am glad to have a lot of positive people around me during that time! Love all of you lots!

A short update on my experience in the UK!

Oh my goodness! Time flies.. I cannot imagined that is November 2013 now.. Am so sorry for not updating my blog that often when I am in the UK. My aim was to blog more often when am here, which unfortunately I failed to do that.. I have been overwhelmed with so many things that it didn't occurred to me to sit down and blog about my experience here.. :(

Okay! Is been a year plus since am here.. Met lots of wonderful friends, colleagues, lecturers and many other ppl along the way in the UK last year till now.. I am blessed to have all of you around during my ups and downs. The last year, I was also able to experience the four seasons, autumn, winter, spring and summer. It was a great experience and i enjoyed all of the seasons.. Winter was fun for me because of the snow.. I remember that, on the first or second day when it started to snow, I was in my room doing my assignments.. It was around 3am. At the same time, my other friend Michelle was also in her own room during her assignment. We were both quite stressed till we saw it was snowing.. Before we knew it, we decided to go out just wearing our pajamas and coat.. We ended up playing in the snow for almost an hour.. It was a good break from all the assignments and we had soo much fun! :) I am surprised that we didn't fall sick after that.. It was so cold but it was fun!

I really enjoyed my MA in Education in NTU too.. It was really challenging and it was very tough.. We had 4 research papers to do and 1 dissertation papers to complete in a year.. Even though it was difficult and challenging, i still had fun doing this course.. Everyone in my department from my lecturers, course leader and admin staff are so friendly, helpful, supportive and caring. The education system here is great and I have no regrets coming to UK and NTU to do my Masters in education specialising in Early Years. Of course, studies took alot of my time. Most of the time am at the library and cafe doing my assignments or either in lectures. So there was not many things to update in my blog anyways. I was always thinking about my assignments till i always had to forgo trips with my friends. Before I knew it, in a year, I haven't really travel that much compared to many others.. Time to go and travel soon I hope..

However, when am studying, I had a great company of friends with me in the library or in the cafe doing assignments together. Although they were not even in the same course, we studies and go out together once in a while for a nice and relaxing lunch/dinner during weekends. We always do things together. We work together and we play together.. :) Am really glad to meet both of them in the well-being room! Now both of them have left back to their home country: Canada.. Now am basically studying in the library or cafe alone now.. Missing them so much! Time flies and before i know it, they have to leave.. Yes, they were an undergraduate students during their exchange program in NTU, but we really click together and we became best friends. We were always there to support and encouraged each other. I cried so much when I had to bid them farewell.. Hahaha.. Just because we spent so much time together everyday, I suddenly wasn't used to being alone working on my assignments.. :P But time heals, and although we are apart in distance but our memories we had together will never fade..
Besides the two of them, I had make lots of other wonderful, caring and helpful friends too. Although we don't spent as much time together, but we always make sure we make time to meet and chat with each other no matter how busy each of us are.. Everyone of my friends are from different courses.. Some undergraduates and some postgraduate students.. :) Am really blessed to have wonderful friends in UK.. But many had already left too.. Some of them are leaving soon.. I miss all of them who had left and am going to miss those who are leaving soon.

Yes, you all might be wondering why am i not going back and while am still studying when MA course is only for a year. Yes, your right! Is one year, and I should be graduating in 2 weeks time, however, unfortunately I wont. Something had happened to me during the last 3 months thus I had to extend my studies. However, am glad that everything is settle now. The positive note is that I will be allow to stay in UK longer.. Hahaha.. Yes, I really love UK.. I really hope that i will get a job here.. Although I miss everyone back home, but i still want to be in the UK..

Besides studying, I was also on my placement since Oct 2012. Is been a year plus since am with one of the preschool here.. And I had lots and lots of fun! Love placement so much that I always ended up going so often when I had no classes. I had learnt lots of new things during my placement and at the same time it was really an eye-opening for me on how they handle the children. I really want to gain as much experience i can during my time in the UK. Love the children so much! Love my placement manager and all my colleagues too. Everyone in my placement are so helpful. They taught me a lot of things! No matter how stressed or if am upset/unhappy, I will be fine after i go for placement. Children will never fail to cheer you up.. They are all so cute and adorable.. Sorry, no pictures on them, because in UK, we are not allowed to take photos of the children. YES! IS VERY STRICT HERE! BUT IS GOOD RULE!

That's it for now! Hopefully, I will blog more often in the next few months when am here in the UK.. :) No promises though since I will be studying more than enjoying.. So not much to blog about.. :)

Oh ya.. and am currently doing volunteering too! :) Maybe i'll blog about it when am free.. Hehehe..

18/5/2013- It was really a great story with great cast! I had a great time watching the live performance. A wonderful first time experience with sad story line.. It's a great way to get a short break from all the endless research assignments.. Should have taken a few pictures during the play but am not sure whether your allow to and also i was so engrossed in the story that i forgot all about it.. The play started at 7:45pm and end at 10:20pm.. Wonderful experience although the ticket was expensive.. I think this will be one and only time i'll be going anyway before my friends leave the UK.. =( Below of the pictures are the summary of the story line taken from wikipedia. And so sorry for the poor quality picture.. It was dark and i only use my iphone to take the pictures..

Amir, a well-to-do Pashtun boy, and Hassan, a Hazara and the son of Amir's father's servant, Ali, spend their days in a peaceful Kabul, kite fighting, roaming the streets and being boys. Amir’s father (who is generally referred to as Baba, "daddy", throughout the book) loves both the boys, but seems critical of Amir for not being manly enough. Amir also fears his father blames him for his mother’s death during childbirth. However, he has a kind father figure in the form of Rahim Khan, Baba’s friend, who understands Amir better, and is supportive of his interest in writing stories.

Assef, a notoriously mean and violent older boy with sadistic tendencies, blames Amir for socializing with a Hazara, according to Assef an inferior race that should only live in Hazarajat. He prepares to attack Amir with his steel knuckles, but Hassan bravely stands up to him, threatening to shoot Assef in the eye with his slingshot. Assef and his henchmen back off, but Assef says he will take revenge.

Hassan is a successful "kite runner" for Amir, knowing where the kite will land without even watching it. One triumphant day, Amir wins the local tournament, and finally Baba's praise. Hassan goes to run the last cut kite, a great trophy, for Amir saying "For you, a thousand times over." Unfortunately, Hassan runs into Assef and his two henchmen. Hassan refuses to give up Amir's kite, so Assef exacts his revenge, assaulting and raping him. Wondering why Hassan is taking so long, Amir searches for Hassan and hides when he hears Assef's voice. He witnesses the rape but is too scared to help him. Afterwards, for some time Hassan and Amir keep a distance from each other. Amir reacts indifferently because he feels ashamed, and is frustrated by Hassan's saint-like behavior. Already jealous of Baba's love for Hassan, he worries if Baba knew how bravely Hassan defended Amir's kite, and how cowardly Amir acted, that Baba's love for Hassan would grow even more.

To force Hassan to leave, Amir frames him as a thief, and Hassan falsely confesses. Baba forgives him, despite the fact that, as he explained earlier, he believes that "there is no act more wretched than stealing." Hassan and his father Ali, to Baba's extreme sorrow, leave anyway. Hassan's departure frees Amir of the daily reminder of his cowardice and betrayal, but he still lives in their shadow and his guilt.

Five years later, the Russians invade Afghanistan; Amir and Baba escape to Peshawar, Pakistan and then to Fremont, California, where Amir and Baba, who lived in luxury in an expansive mansion in Afghanistan, settle in a run-down apartment and Baba begins work at a gas station. Amir eventually takes classes at a local community college to develop his writing skills. Every Sunday, Baba and Amir make extra money selling used goods at a flea market in San Jose. There, Amir meets fellow refugee Soraya Taheri and her family; Soraya's father, who was a high-ranking officer in Afghanistan, has contempt of Amir's literary aspiration. Baba is diagnosed with terminal oat cell carcinoma but is still capable of granting Amir one last favor: he asks Soraya's father's permission for Amir to marry her. He agrees and the two marry. Shortly thereafter Baba dies. Amir and Soraya learn that they cannot have children.

Amir embarks on a successful career as a novelist. Fifteen years after his wedding, Amir receives a call from Rahim Khan, who is dying from an illness. Rahim Khan asks Amir to come to Pakistan. He enigmatically tells Amir "there is a way to be good again." Amir goes.

From Rahim Khan, Amir learns the fates of Ali and Hassan. Ali was killed by a land mine. Hassan had a wife and a son, named Sohrab, and had returned to Baba’s house as a caretaker at Rahim Khan’s request. One day the Taliban ordered him to give it up and leave, but he refused, and was murdered, along with his wife. Rahim Khan reveals that Ali was not really Hassan's father. Hassan was actually the son of Baba, therefore Amir's half-brother. Finally, Rahim Khan tells Amir that the true reason he has called Amir to Pakistan is to go to Kabul to rescue Hassan's son, Sohrab, from an orphanage.

Amir returns to Taliban-controlled Kabul with a guide, Farid, and searches for Sohrab at the orphanage. In order to enter Taliban territory, Amir, who is normally clean shaven, dons a fake beard and mustache, because otherwise the Taliban would exact Shariah punishment against him. However, he does not find Sohrab where he was supposed to be: the director of the orphanage tells them that a Taliban official comes often, brings cash and usually takes a girl back with him. Once in a while however, he takes a boy, recently Sohrab. The director tells Amir to go to a soccer match and the man "who does the speeches" is the man who took Sohrab. Farid manages to secure an appointment with the speaker at his home, by saying that he and Amir have "personal business" with him.

At the house, Amir has his meeting with the man in sunglasses,who says the man who does the speeches is not available,. The man in sunglasses is eventually revealed to be his childhood nemesis, Assef. Assef is aware of Amir's identity from the very beginning, but Amir doesn't realize who he's sitting across from until Assef starts asking about Ali, Baba and Hassan. Sohrab is being kept at the home where he is made to dance dressed in women's clothes, and it seems Assef might have been sexually assaulting him. (Sohrab later says, "I'm so dirty and full of sin. The bad man and the other two did things to me.") Assef agrees to relinquish him, but only for a price - cruelly beating Amir. However, Amir is saved when Sohrab uses his slingshot to shoot out Assef's left eye, fulfilling the threat his father had made many years before.

Amir tells Sohrab of his plans to take him back to America and possibly adopt him, and promises that he will never be sent to an orphanage again. After almost having to break that promise (after decades of war, paperwork documenting Sohrab's orphan status, as demanded by the US authorities, is impossible to get) and Sohrab attempting suicide, Amir manages to take him back to the United States and introduces him to his wife. However, Sohrab is emotionally damaged and refuses to speak or even glance at Soraya. This continues until his frozen emotions are thawed when Amir reminisces about his father, Hassan, while kite flying. Amir shows off some of Hassan’s tricks, and Sohrab begins to interact with Amir again. In the end Sohrab only shows a lopsided smile, but Amir takes to it with all his heart as he runs the kite for Sohrab, saying, "For you, a thousand times over.".

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone! Fine fine.. I know is almost ending.. Happy Chap Goh Meh! Sorry.. Time flies so fast that 15 days of Chinese New Year is almost over.. During Chinese New Year I was rushing for my research.. =( This is the shortest Chinese New Year I have celebrated all my whole life.. LOL..

This year since I am in UK, i didnt really celebrate Chinese New Year.. If you ask me whether am home sick.. I can tell you that during the Chinese New Year festival I was really feeling home sick because Chinese New Year is the time where no matter how and where you are, we will always celebrate Chinese New Year together.. Ever since I moved to KL, I will always go back to Penang to celebrate Chinese New Year with my beloved family.. So this is the only year that I didn't celebrate Chinese New Year together.. But celebrating Chinese New Year in UK is also a new experience for me.. This year since all of us are away from home, my friends and I decided to have a little reunion together.. it was really fun.. I had lots of fun... The only few things i miss that I cant get it here is

No 1- My beloved family
No 2- Ang Pow!!! =)
No 3- Chinese New Year Cookies.. Pineapple tarts.. Nestum Cookies.. and etc... ( but thanks to my friend who went back to Malaysia for CNY, she bought back some cookies for me.. Jumping with joy!

Thank you so much to all of you! Throughout every step of my life journey, am really glad to have make wonderful friends. Am so honoured and blessed to get to know each and everyone of you! Friends are a part of my life and I always value friendships. Family always comes first and then it will be my wonderful friends that i have make along the way. Thank you to all my beloved friends for always being there for me throughout my ups and downs.. Thank you for always sharing the wonderful moments and sad moments with me. Thank you for always caring for me, advising me and always motivate me in any way possible.. Small or big.. I do know that sometimes we don't keep in touch, but just to tell each and everyone of you know that you are always in my heart. And am lucky that even if we lost touch for some time, when we talk is like we have just kept in touch few minutes ago.. Thank you for being so kind to me. There is no words i can express my gratitude to all of you. To all my dearest friends in Malaysia and in UK, Thank you so much!

To all my Malaysian friends (you know who you are)- I really really miss each one of you! I can't wait to see all of you when I come back.. Yum cha sessions! General Election is coming! I was really glad that there were no untoward incidents happened during the rally. Thank you for not shooting tear gases and arresting people like how they use to do in the past. It shows that the rally can be a peaceful rally and all of the people who shows support today is there to show support and wants Malaysia to change for the better.. And not to create trouble.. Malaysia seriously need change... Living standard is high, salary maintains! Crime rates increasing.. Corruption increasing..For the better of the next generation, all of us wants to see changes. 100,000 throng Stadium Merdeka for 'Uprising' rally

Downtown Kuala Lumpur is expected to be swamped with thousands of Pakatan Rakyat supporters as part of the coalition's final show of force ahead of a crucial general election.

Organisers are hoping that the big turnout at the rally - dubbed the People's Uprising Rally - would sway fence-sitters who are likely to vote based on who will be likely to form the next federal government.

The Najib Abdul Razak government, however, appeared to be bending over backwards to ensure that there are no untoward incidents, even if the rally theme itself is brazenly revolutionary.

Not only have the authorities allowed Pakatan to rally at the historic and highly symbolic Stadium Merdeka, the police have stated that its target was for "zero casualties" and have pledged to do without the notorious Federal Reserve Unit (riot police).

Rally organisers are putting the authorities' new attitude to the test, with plans to hold multiple street processions ahead of the three-hour rally, which is scheduled to begin at 2pm.
The weather forecast for today is cloudy with a slight chance of showers.
LIVE REPORTS

9.13am: Brickfields (Jln Tun Sambanthan) - Traffic is smooth as there are no roadblocks. A group of participants in yellow is spotted heading towards the stadium. There are no signages about the gathering at the moment.

9.20am: Masjid Negara - The mosque begins to fill with large groups in yellow and green attire, spilling out across to the railway station. Traffic is smooth and traffic police are assisting. The road in the direction of Dataran Merdeka has been blocked and traffic headed that way has been diverted to Jln Kinabalu.

Traffic in front of Sultan Sulaiman Club is also smooth. A number of supporters in green and yellow are sitting by the pavement, and a stall has been set up selling People’s Uprising Rally attire.
9.45am: Masjid Al-Rahman (Universiti Malaya) - Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar has just arrived. About 50 people have gathered and are preparing to head to the stadium.

KLCC - 500 people are gathered there, along with activists and NGOs such as the Royalti, Anak, and Bersih. Royalti secretary Hishamuddin Ghazali says they plan to head to the stadium at 11.45am with PAS vice president Husam Musa dan Anak chief Mazlan Aliman leading.
9.55am: Stadium Merdeka - The rally venue site is still closed to the public, but a handful of Pakatan Rakyat members are already inside the stadium making preparations.

Meanwhile, stalls have lined for more than 500m along the roads outside the stadium in a 'pasar pagi'-like atmosphere.
People are already pouring in around the stadium. The crowd size is estimated at over 2,000.
9.56am: Jalan Sultan - A few hundred people are gathered here in a festival-like atmosphere. The streets are filled with the sound of vuvuzelas.

The yellow People's Uprising rally T-shirts displaying "kuasa rakyat #KL112" are quickly running out. Participants are spotted changing into the T-shirts on the street, while some female participants simply put them on top of what they are wearing.

Shops are open for business. Tailor shop owner Khong Kim Lyew tells Malaysiakini that his shop opens from 8am to 5pm as usual to send a message to the police that the rally is peaceful.

While police have warned that children are not allowed to participate in the rally, a few children in yellow are seen with their parents.
10am: Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya - About 200 people are gathered in the field opposite the mall, mostly in blue PKR Youth T-shirts. They are preparing to head to the UM mosque to join the crowd there.

Among the ledgers present is Simpang Pulai assemblyperson Chan Ming Kai.
10.10am: Jalan Stadium - The police have set up two tents for the media within the compound of the Tun HS Lee police station. They have also set up a counter to register media personnels for on-the-spot issuing of police-sanctioned press tags.
A number of journalists are here awaiting the rally to begin in the afternoon. The police station is about 200 metres away from Stadium Merdeka.
Amcorp Mall - The crowd starts moving, singing songs andNegaraku, bearing a placard with the words "Clean up the electoral system".
10.15am: Jalan Sultan - A group of DAP supporters danced Gangnam-style on the street, accompanied with the famous South Korean song which has been modified with anti-Lynas lyrics.

DAP member Chua Beng Hooi, 47, who is wearing a radioactive proof suit, joins the fun.

According to his friend, Chua had made the costume specially for today’s rally.

Chua, a fisherman from Taiping, says he is here to support the green movement. The crowd size is now about 500.
10.30am: KLCC - Gerak Khas actress Abby Abadi is among the Royalti supporters. Dressed in a purple tudung and a black jubah, she takes photographs with the NGO members in the KLCC area and becomes an attraction with media cameras.
Shortly after, Abby tells reporters that she hopes there would be no repeat of incidents such as that at the ending of Bersih 3.0's rally last April.

“From what I can see, everybody wants to change, including the police and civil servants, whose eyes are now open.

“Everybody wants change in a good way. We need to use our power to choose well in the coming general election,” she said.
10.40am: Jalan Thambipillay 4, Brickfields - Cartoonist Zunar is leading a group of about 100 youths by the roadside with chants of "Hidup, Hidup, Hidup Rakyat".

They also chanted "Hancur" to several personalities, including Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor.

Clad in yellow T-shirts, they held up banners that read "Kumpulan Kartunis Independen". Several vehicles that passed them honked in support, sending them into wild cheers.
10.45am: Stadium Merdeka - Controversial carpet businessman Deepak Jaikishan showed up at the entrance of the stadium, about three hours before the rally is due to begin.

Dressed in a green T-shirt and a pair of green sport shoes, he plans to march together with the PAS leaders and supporters from the party headquarters at Jalan Raja Laut at 11am. The group is estimated to reach the stadium before 2pm.

“I am here to show my support to all Malaysians. We come together to demand that the government must have free and fair elections. The public has already awaken - this is not a tsunami, this is an earthquake.

When asked whether he would like to speak on the stage later this afternoon, he replied: “If I am given the opportunity, yes.”

Deepak’s presence draws some attention from the crowd, with a number of people seeking to have their photographs taken with him.
10.47am: Jalan Sultan - The rally sees two complete strangers - Eric Chong from Kuala Lumpur and Raymond Toh from Penang - becoming friends when they got into a conversation while purchasing the rally T-shirts and merchandises this morning.

Chong, 60, (left in picture) who works in a factory, is a frequent rally-goer. He says that the both of them have vowed to attend future mammoth rallies together.

"We share the same views, we are brothers," says Chong.

Meanwhile, Toh, 38, a wholesaler, says the two will exchange contacts. Toh and Chong proudly said that they are at today’s rally on their own expenses.
10.55am: Masjid Al-Rahman (UM) - With supporters from Amcorp Mall arriving at the historic university entrance, the crowd begins moving to the stadium. UM students are present, bearing a placard with the words "Students want a change in government". Meanwhile in the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Dataran, the crowd has grown to 150.

KLCC - About 1,000 are now gathered and are awaiting their leaders Mazlan Aliman and PAS central committee member Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Batu Burok assemblyperson Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi and about 30 members of PAS’ Unit Amal are present.
10.57am: KLCC - Mazlan speaks and calls Felda chairperson Isa Samad and enemy of the Felda community, who has awakened and is demanding fair and honest treatment.

“Save Felda, step down, Isa,” he shouts.

The crowd, now 3,000-strong, begins marching to Stadium Merdeka while chanting, “Long live the people”. Leading the way are Pakatan leaders such as PAS Tumpat MP Kamaruddin Jaafar and Teng.

Sultan Sulaiman Club - The crowd marches along Jln Raja Abdullah chanting “Long live the people,” and “Police, go home”.

A bystander, Firdaus Abdul Rahman, says he is enjoying watching the action.

But he is unaware of the issues behind the march. “I am open. I do not side any party, as that is our right,” he said.

“It is enjoyable to watch, but I do not know the issues. I am just an observer, it looks like good fun,” said Firdaus from Segambut, who is on his way to Kampung Baru for breakfast.
11am: Little India, Brickfields - The crowd is a bit thin here, numbering at only about 60 people. Shops are blasting Tamil music as housewives pick their vegetables. Business appears to be as usual. It is unclear whether this is indicative of lukewarm support from the Indian community that would normally assemble here for rallies.

A police bus is parked by the roadside, but their presence is small. Only five police officers are spotted.
11.03am: Jalan Sultan - Despite the police barring children below 15 from participating in the rally, Chew Lai Ching has brought her entire family.

“I need to let my children know that we are fighting for them and for their future,” she added.

She joined the rally together with her husband and two kids, a three-year old and a six-month old. All of them are wearing the Himpunan Hijau iconic green T-shirt.

The 35-year-old mother says she had wanted to join earlier rallies, but was unable to do so as she needed to take care of her children.

“This time, however, I know it will be a peaceful rally,” she said, adding that her family is supporting the 'green' environmental movement.
11.22am: Dataran Merdeka - Himpunan Hijau chairperson Wong Tack and his fellow steering committee members are outside the iconic square, despite the area being completely sealed by the police.

“Although Dataran is not a meeting point for Himpunan Hijau, but I would like to see the green field every time I come to Kuala Lunpur. I believe one day the people will finally be able to step on this field,” he said.

Over a few hundred protesters are gathered here. Wong Tack says they will walk to Jalan Sultan at around noon and finally head to the stadium.

Himpunan Hijau had initiated the 300km Green March in November last year from Kuantan, but they failed to get into Dataran on their arrival in KL.

There are more than a hundred police personnel stationed around the iconic square.
11.25am: Jalan Petaling - The Bersih Mama team is here to promote its bi-monthly publication, Sunflower Paper, and its activities.

Bersih Mama member Ng Kai Chan says Bersih Mama went into the business with the Sunflower Electoral Education (SEED), a group under KLSCAH, to convey messages of the civic struggle nationwide.

"In our first edition which was published last December, we wrote about the rare earth issue, and printed 5,000 copies. We wish to talk about the anti-cyanide gold mining issue in the next edition, which will be out next week," she tells Malaysiakini.

They plan to print 10,000 copies this time. Ng said they now work on a Bahasa Malaysia edition and wish to release it before Chinese New Year. The group also welcomes donations for its campaigns.
11:28am: Sultan Sulaiman Club - Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (Samm) chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, arrives and speaks from the top of a Triton truck to the estimated 500 people gathered. Earlier, the crowd chanted, “The youth have awakened”.

Chegubard says they will move through Jalan Raja Abdullah, Jalan Tun TS Lee to Jalan Sultan, where they intend to converge with Husam’s group from KLCC.
11.35am: KLSCAH - About 10,000 people are at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH), having earlier marched from Masjid Negara. They are now a stone's throw away from Stadium Merdeka.
11.37am: KLCC - The crowd has doubled to roughly 2,500. Dzulkefly and Royalti leader R Nazri Deraman are among those speaking about the return of Kelantan and Terengganu’s oil royalties to the people of the states. They also spoke out against the Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGV) controversial listing.

“Today is a historic day, the KL112 rally is uniting all the people’s protests, in order that Malaysia can progress, in order to create change.

“We demand for the oil royalties that have been denied Kelantan and Terengganu who have till now been betrayed (by the federal government). We also want the rights of Felda settlers upheld,” said Dzulkefly

The crowd is chanting, “Return our royalties. We demand our royalties, this is the people’s right”. Other leaders present are Anak’s Mazlan and Selangor speaker, Teng Chang Khim.
11.45am: Stadium Merdeka - The crowd from Masjid Negara has arrived at the stadium, clogging up the lower half of the main road. Stalls selling refreshments along the streets are doing a roaring business.
The stadium will only be opened to the crowd after 12pm.
11.50am: Brickfields- There are two groups assembled here. The group at Little India has dramatically swelled as their numbers are bolstered by commuters from KL Sentral. The close to 600 people here consists of Orang Asli activists, student activists, Indian NGOs, and party activists.

They are gathered around the iconic elephant water fountain here and encircled by Unit Amal personnel. Meanwhile, over at Jalan Thambipillay 4, the crowd there has also swelled to some 300 people.

12pm: Little India - The crowd bursts into cheers as the group from University Malaya marched across the bridge to join them, making a total of roughly 5,000. They are marching along Jalan Tun Sambathan towards Pasar Seni, and onwards to Stadium Merdeka.

12.12pm: Jalan Ampang - Chegubard’s group is heading towards Jln Gereja, and shops along Jln Ampang are seen to be open and doing business as usual.

Iskandar, a sundry shop owner, says he knew about the rally but decided to open shop anyway.

“I did not close shop today, because they (the rally-goers) are not disrupting my business,” he says.

Meanwhile, a senior citizen from Maran, Pahang, 65-year-old Osman Mamat says he is happy to be part of the rally as he wants to demand for justice.

“For the sake of justice, it doesn’t matter how far I have to walk. I am not feeling unwell. I am truly here for the cause,” he says.
12.15pm: Stadium Merdeka - The 10,000-strong crowd has entered Stadium Merdeka and are already getting to their seats.

About one-third of the historic stadium has been occupied by the rally participants. Some of them blowing the vuvuzela horns, and some of them shouting slogans such as "reformasi".

The majority of the crowd are dressed in the iconic yellow and green shirts, which represent the Bersih and Himpunan Hijau movement, respectively.

However, some of them also wearing the red and black T-shirts with "Royalti" on it, in reference to the Kelantan oil royalty movement.

It is a multiracial crowd, many of whom are PAS supporters.
12.20pm: KLCC-Jln Ampang - The group has swollen to 10,000 and has reached the Dang Wangi LRT station. As they march, they chant, “Destroy BN,” and “There are no barriers, move on smoothly”.

Little India - Three pickups with ‘Medical Teams' stickers are seen accompanying the procession.
12.25pm: PWTC LRT station - Three Sabahans have spent RM750 each to fly to KL to participate in the rally.

Abdul Momin, 43, says this is the first time he is in Kuala Lumpur to participate in a rally.

"I came here because I want to show that Sabahans are part of the cause for change."

The former Umno member says he has joined Pertubuhan Pakatan Perubahan Sabah, which is led by Beaufort MP Lajim Ukim, who defected from Umno last year.
12.33pm: KLCC - Jln Ampang is filled to the brim as the group from KLCC moves past. Passing vehicles sound their horns and the crowd cheers back in appreciation. Traffic police are directing the traffic.

The group, with Husam leading, met up with Chegubard’s group and together they head to Jln Sultan as the crowd continues to swell.

12.45pm: Little India - The groups from Brickfields, UM dan Amcorp Mall converge with the Masjid Negara group and head towards Stadium Merdeka through Jln Syed Putra. The police assigned to assist the media have yet to be seen, there are only traffic police and regular uniformed police.
12.48pm: Pasar Seni LRT station - A slight drizzle starts as hundreds of Pakatan supporters walk towards the stadium. Most of them wear yellow and green.
12.59pm: Jalan Sultan-Jalan Hang Jebat - A 5,000-strong crowd marches to Stadium Merdeka, with some shouting the word, "Bersih".

The crowd cheers on a few policemen on motorbikes who were seen entering Jalan Sultan. The police officers responded by waving and smiling back at the crowd.

A participant in the crowd has a yellow vest with "My Name is Deepak" scrawled on it.
1pm: Jalan Tun Perak - The Samm group is moving past Menara Maybank towards Jalan Sultan while chanting, “People, rise,” and “We fight the corrupt regime,” while some are carrying posters calling for an end to the student loan, PTPTN, and “Justice for (the late DAP aide) Teoh Beng Hock”.
1.04pm: KLCC - En route to Jln Sultan, Husam makes a speech calling for Prime Minister Najib Razak to respond to allegations from businessman Deepak Jaikishan relating to murdered Mongolian translator, Altantuya Shaariibuu.

“Answer on the issue of Altantuya. Why keep silent? If it is a health issue, he can respond, but on the Altantuya issue, he remains silent,” says Husam.

He adds that former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad today was reported calling on leaders “with problems” to step down.

On the issue of Kelantan’s oil royalties, he challenged Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman Mustapa Mohamed to hold a forum to discuss the latter’s claim that giving 20 percent royalties to the five oil producing states - Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak - would bankrupt the nation.

“Umno leaders whose brains are bankrupt are the ones who will bankrupt the nation. 20 percent oil royalties for the Bidayuh, Kadazan, the poor in Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang will bring hope to elevate (these communities),” he said.

“All these states have 96 (parliamentary) seats. If we can get these seats, Najib will crank up his engines and leave the country,” he added.
1.05pm: Maharajalela monorail station - Near the station, Baling councillor Chandra M Subramaniam is seen giving a speech in Chinese. He says he has brought three busloads from Baling to join the rally.
1.05pm: Stadium Merdeka - A big group of women participants arrive at the stadium, having marched from Central Market.

Clad in iconic purple colours, the women carried banners with various messages including the demand for free education, end of corruption, women’s power as well as justice for Teoh Beng Hock.

The police estimated the crowd size, both in and outside of the stadium, at around 40,000 people.

Many of the participants are still queuing up outside as the Unit Amal team only allowed the participants into the stadium in batches.
1.22pm: KLSCAH - An estimated crowd of 15,000 gathers in front of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, waiting for their turn to move into Stadium Merdeka. They are quiet and calm.
1.23 pm: Jln Sultan - Rallyers from Samm are sitting down in respect as one of their members intone the zohor azan. They will then proceed to Stadium Merdeka and hold the proper zohor prayers there.

Meanwhile the KLCC crowd has arrived, chanting, “Step down, BN step down,” and “Takbir!” and head towards Puduraya.
1.45pm: Outside Stadium Merdeka - Business has been brisk for hawkers in the vicinity of the stadium. Mansur Ahmad, 56, says he has sold over 500 kebabs.

"Today, I made RM1,000," he beams.

Mansur has also set up a stall at the Kelab Sultan Sulaiman yesterday, where there was pre-rally gathering.

His daughter, Faeza Mansor, 28, who operates a soup noodle business besides Mansur’s kebab stall, says business has been unusually good.

She estimates about 1,000 bowls of soup noodle sold so far.

"My sister doesn't even want to mince the beef anymore. She is too tired to do it!" she joked.

Faeza is being helped by six of her siblings.
1.50pm: Dang Wangi OCPD Zainuddin Ahmad in a press conference today uploaded on Youtube says the situation is so far incident free, and that no bombs have been found despite earlier reports.

“So far there have been no untoward incidents or situations of danger to the participants or the public.

“The roads that are closed are Jln Raja, Datok Onn roundabout, Dataran Merdeka, Jln Ampang, Jln Tun Razak, Jln Pudu, jalan Sultan and Jln Hang Tuah.

“Till now there have been no arrests by the police, and as I said, there are no cases of attention till now,” he said.

On the suspected explosives reported in KLCC, he said the bomb squad has investigated and found nothing but empty boxes.

“Similarly for the materials found in front of the Bar Council, we only found a bag and after inspecting it, did not find any explosives.”

He also estimates the crowd in the stadium to be 20,000 to 25,000 and up to 20,000 outside.

1:51pm: Crowd in stadium has swelled to close to 30,000 people. They begin to sing the national anthem.
1.57pm: Outside Stadium Merdeka (main gate) - An estimated 20,000 people begin to move into the stadium.
Leaders of rally co-organisers - Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM), Felda Anak and Royalti - were seen on top a jeep leading the crowd.
2pm: Stadium Merdeka - Overall, the marches to the stadium has been mostly smooth, with the police helping to control traffic.
There are impromptu marches all over downtown Kuala Lumpur and more of this can be expected because some groups, such as one currently in Masjid Negara, will only march after zohor prayers, which means they will march only after the rally is officially underway.
2.10pm: Stadium Merdeka - The rally kicks off with the singing of the national anthem as thousands of participants still making their the way into the stadium.

There are loudspeakers mounted outside the stadium for the benefit of those still queuing to go in.
DAP Rasah MP Anthony Loke starts the rally inside the stadium speaking in Chinese and Malay.

He leads the crowd in repeated chants of 'bangkit!' and calls on the people to vote out the BN government.

“Najib is only gathered at Semenyih Tesco. We are at Stadium Merdeka and we rise to oppose BN,” he says.

Spotted in the stadium is Parti Ikatan president and former Umno minister Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.

2.12pm: Solidariti Mahasiswa Malaysia chief Safwan Anang takes the stage as first speaker followed by representatives from anti-Teaching and Learning of Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI) movement, anti-Pengerang Rapid project group and Save Jalan Sultan group.

2.15pm: Stadium Merdeka - PAS Johor rep Suhaizan Kaiat speaks on issues concerning Pulau Batu Putih and the Iskandar project in Johor.

PAS chief Abdul Hadi Awang and secretary-general Mustapha Ali arrive in the stadium.

Shortly after, Tijah representing the Peninsular Orang Asli addresses the rally on indigenous rights and alleges that much of Orang Asli land has been robbed from them.

"We are the natives of this land but we are denied our rights, our land is taken over... Whoever is oppressed, let us arise together."

She says today should be remembered in history and that Orang Asli rights should not be denied, and for them to be treated fairly and equally.

Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevaasan and PKR veep N Surendran are seen in the stadium.

2.17pm: Crowd continue to pour into the stadium, consisting of Himpunan Hijau activists, Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) activists and several other groups.

The stadium has a capacity for 30,000 people but rally participants have occupied almost every inch of the field, putting their numbers at an estimated 50,000 people.
2.20pm: Stadium Merdeka - An estimated 70,000 are in and outside stadium. The weather is cloudy but the earlier drizzler has stopped. A police helicopter is seen hovering above the city.

2.20pm: Stadium Merdeka gate - Despite police warning to participants not to bring children, a family has ignored the order.

Suzilawani Mohd, 32, says she didn’t feel scared to bring her children to the rally because she expects that the government will not take a tough stand.

“Last time, I might be afraid because of the tear gas and water cannons,” she says, with her husband Naveed Ghalam Rasool beside her.

Asked about her reasons for taking part, she says she wants to experience the feeling of a rally before the election.

2.25pm: National Mosque - New groups of rally participants, with some of them wearing the iconic Bersih yellow T-shirts and holding PAS flags, start to march from the National Mosque to Stadium Merdeka.

The 3,000-strong crowd shouting 'Reformasi' completely floods the road leading to Stadium Merdeka.

Among them is Mohamad Yusof, a disabled on wheelchair, who came from Ijok, Selangor, to join the rally.

2.25pm: Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh takes the stage and hits out at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for taking credit for the abolition of Internal Security Act (ISA).

"It is the rakyat that abolished the ISA!" He declared.

He added the movement is continuing its struggle because 23 more people are still detained under the law even though the law had been abolished.

2.29pm: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is scheduled to address the rally later today, issues a statementto Malaysians and supporters abroad asking them to provide support to their fellow citizens in the country by spreading information about today's rally.

“Keep tweeting and posting all day, keep talking, keep sharing, every voice matters, every effort adds on to building a flood of hope, and by the day dwarfing the dam of intolerance and aloofness built by those who rule today.

“That one day, the dam will break and sunlight will shine again in our lives,” he said in the statement.

2.30pm: Jalan Imbi, Hang Tuah LRT Station - Despite the rally having begun half an hour ago, there are still many participants on the way to the stadium.

Many protesters dressed in yellow and green are spotted at the Hang Tuah LRT station. In addition, many Muslim participants have just started to walk towards the stadium after their prayers at the Albukhary mosque.

The stadium is about 1km from both the LRT station and the mosque.

2.36pm: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim arrives to wild cheers from the crowd and blast of deafening vuvuzelas. The crowd swarms to the PKR supremo who made his entrance through the field. The emcee attempts to calm the crowd, urging them to focus on the speakers at hand.

2.40pm: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang dan national chairperson Karpal Singh who is on wheelchair, arrive and entere the stadium.

2.50pm: It’s drizzling in the stadium. Bersih co-chairperson S Ambiga is giving speech. She reiterates that Bersih is a non-partisan NGO fighting for the people.

The electoral reform coalition, she says, is to safeguard the people's rights in the coming general election.

"Why are we here? Because we love Malaysia, we believe the situation in Malaysia can improve. We have hope for a brighter future. Let us unite for a better Malaysia. This is the time we must fulfill our responsibility. Bersih does not side anyone, we fight for the people's right for free and fair election," she said.

2.53pm: It is Himpunan Hijau chairperson Wong Tack's turn to give speech.

Without wasting any time, he urged the people to rise up and change the government come the next general elections.

"God gives us a wonderful and beautiful land, why do we want to destroy it?"

"Enough is enough, the people must rise up. This corrupt regime must be dropped. We must remove the corrupt government!

"We will come together in the next general election, we choose a good government that will listen to the people, the choice in our hands.”

2.51pm: According to a Twitter update from the police, the stadium has been filled with about 80,000 people as at 2.45pm.

2.55pm: A lot of people can't get into the stadium and are hanging around the carpark.

The stadium is filled to the rafters. Many resort to climbing on the ticket stands, fence and walls to witness the proceedings.

2.55pm: Jalan Maharajalela – Participants outside the stadium are having a carnival playing on their vuvuzuela trumpets while the cars passing by honk to show support.

3pm: Anak's Mazlan Aliman takes the stage. He starts his speech with a loud shout of “Undur Isa Samad!” (step down Isa Samad)

Pointing to the falling price of FGVH shares, he said settlers were suffering as a result of this.

"Before Felda was a stronghold of BN, today they rise to challenge them. This time the Felda people will rise and path the way for us to Putrajaya," he declares.

3.04pm: The first part programme of the rally has ended. Popular singer Ito from the rock group Blues Gang sings a song called ‘Ubah ini kali lah’ (Let's change this time), followed by a poetry reading by national laureate A Samad Said.

He recites his latest poem "Di Atas Padang Sejarah" to the background of soft music.

He jokes that he had never expected his poetry could be used as a weapon in this country.

“Even poems have become weapons,” he says in a short speech before reciting his poem ‘On the field of history’.

He adds that he has always wanted to witness a ‘sea of humanity’.

“In my life... I am already 80, I have always dreamed of witnessing a sea of souls. This is it. Change now,” he said.

Pakatan leaders will then take their turn to speak.

3.35pm: After Samad Said's poem, singer Ito returns to the stage and perform another song, which touch on the unity of all the races.

While enjoying his performance, the 100,000-strong crowd also perform the "wave" around the stadium a number of times.

3.22pm: Mohamad Sabu, better known as Mat Sabu, takes his turn to speak.

As rally secretariat chairperson, he thanks all quarters for making the rally a success, including the police department.

He called the rally today a step towards Putrajaya.

“This is our last rally before heading to Putrajaya,” he said to a roar from the crowd.

He says Malaysians are holding concurrent rallies in Jordan, London and Auckland.

Mat Sabu then tells the crowd about the SMS (right) thatMalaysiakini had reported offering participants money to participate in the rally.

The fake message told participants that their payment for taking part in the rally was ready for collection at PKR headquarters.

“Did anyone pay you RM150?” he asks the crowd, who respond “No!”

“I do not intend to pay your RM150, but I would like to ask funds from you, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to ask donations,” he says.

With that, the organisers begin collecting donations from the crowd.

The cost of the stadium is RM100,000.

3.30pm: Outside Merdeka Stadium - some participants are seen shaking hands with the police in appreciation of their service. One attendee from Sungai Petani is spotted thanking the police before rushing off to take a bus home. The police replies with a warm smile.

“The police were good today. They did not disrupt our rally compared to the past,” he says.

A broadcast reporter from a television station, who wants to remain anonymous, said that she never saw any of the police marshals who are tasked to protect the media.

"No, I haven't see one," she says.

Her team comprises five members, who cover the rally starting from Jalan Sultan and Central Market.

According to her, the police did not contact them before the rally despite having submitted their contact details to the authorities.

3.38pm: The police revises one of its earlier Twitterpostings, clarifying that the estimation of 80,000 crowd in the stadium at 2.45pm was a “technical mistake”.

“The real number will be announced by the Kuala Lumpur police chief or district police chief,” read the latest message.

3.44pm: DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng declares the rally today as a countdown to "merdekakan Malaysia".

"I think there are about 90 days left to ‘merdekakan’ Malaysia," he says, referring to the much-awaited national polls.

Taking a swipe at BN policies, he says the ruling coalition only know how to grab the people’s money.

"From left hand, they give you RM500 of BR1M, from right hand, they take back the money via 1Malaysia camera.

"I trust with your presence today, we send a loud voice we don't want a crony government, we want a government of the people,” he says.

Lim charges BN was incapable to take on Pakatan on issues and instead played on racial sentiments.

He takes aim at several BN leaders, but when he raises the name of Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, the stadium breaks into a loud "boo".

"I believe the wave of change is not only in peninsula but also Sabah and Sarawak.

"Let us from today begin the countdown to make this country independent of BN!" he declares.

3.51pm: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang takes the stage, boasting of the performance of Pakatan-led states and calling for a second independence for Malaysia.

3.52pm: Earlier at about 12pm, Mohamad Sabu who is the rally's secretariat chairperson told Malaysiakini that the organiser will not entertain controversial carpet dealer Deepak's request to speak in the stadium.

"No, we already have many NGOs want to speak in the rally, no more space," said the PAS deputy president.

3.54pm: There is a heartening moment when disabled Abdul Hakim Fauzi, 20, shows his determination in participating in the rally.

Unable to speak, Hakim shows the PAS trademark hand sign for ‘Takbir’ to express his happiness in being present at the rally.

His father Mohd Fauzi Jalil, 49, explains that his son was hit by a motorcycle in Kluang on the eve of Bersih 3.0 last year.

3.58pm: Jordan - Malaysians in the Middle East nation report that after Friday prayers, the undergraduates from Mu’tah Jordan have gathered at the snow-covered Tarawneh Square in 4 degrees celcius weather.

“Although it is cold, we are filled with the spirit of the rally as a sign of concern for Malaysia,” said Suhaila Lukman in an email statement.

She says although they are unable to be in Kuala Lumpur, they are there in spirit and prayer, and share the youth’s aspirations for change.

“Our rally lasted around 30 minutes accompanied by speeches from the student representatives, followed by prayers and shouts of ‘Takbir’,” she reports.

4.10pm: Emcee and Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul says the organiser will need to pay RM100,000 for renting the Stadium Merdeka.

Therefore, he urges the crowd to continue give them financial support.

4.14pm – Opposition Leader and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim finally takes the stage to address the excited crowd.

Recalling all the promises offered by Pakatan including the abolition of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and reduction of petrol price, he appeals to the people to give the opposition coalition the opportunity to lead the government.

“We ask for the chance (to rule the nation), so that the people's voice will become the sacred voice in ruling this country. Suara rakyat, suara keramat (people's voice is the sacred voice),” says Anwar, stressing that Pakatan will listen to all the wishes of the people.

Anwar also mentions that Pakatan would support multiple stream education system if it captures Putrajaya.

Citing Mandarin as an example, he says Mandarin is not only the language for the Chinese ethnic group, but also an important economic language in this globalised world.

The charismatic leader raises the controversial deals involving Boustead-Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT), businessperson Deepak and Selangor Wanita Umno chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah.

He says the Selangor state government will never allow the land involved in the deals to be developed.

“I told Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim... Pakatan Rakyat will not allow the robbed land to be developed.”

Anwar mocks Umno delegates for shedding tears at their general assembly last year over a song lamenting the supposed oppression of Malays.

Singing the song about Malays losing their property, Anwar declares, "Malays lost their land because you (Umno) stole them!"

"Who stole the Malay reserve lands? Who stole the cows?" he continues as the crowd shouts “Umno!”

Emulating father of independence Tunku Abdul Rahman's who called out "Merdeka" seven times during the independence declaration, Anwar leads the stadium in the same ritual, calling out "Merdeka!" seven times as the crowd responds "Rakyat!"

"Like how our forefathers called out, we repeat that oath and this time achieve true independence of the people," he says.

4.20pm: A recording of a press conference by Dang Wangi district police chief Zainuddin Ahmad has been uploaded, clarifying that the rally attendance is around 40,000 to 45,000.

“From my reading, the rally was attended by about 40,000 to 45,000 people,” he said.

The police has earlier estimated the crowd size on its Twitter as 80,000 at 2.45pm before retracting it one hour later on grounds that it was a “technical mistake”.

Zainuddin said no untoward incident during the event and no arrest has been made.

“All police personnel were able to perform their duties and responsibilities properly, without any untoward incident.”

As for traffic, he says there was minor congestion at Jalan Maharajalela and other roads leading to Stadium Merdeka, and Jalan Raja, Jalan Lebuh Pasar and Jalan Maharajalela have been closed to facilitate the rally.

4.24pm: Those outside the stadium begin to leave. The people, mostly in yellow and green, are heading towards Jalan Maharajarela.

4.43pm: A 10-point demand is read out by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution: 1. Free and fair elections, 2. Save Felda, 3. Restore Sabah and Sarawak rights, 4. 20 percent oil royalties for petroleum-producing states, 5. Safeguard the future of civil servants including teachers and security forces, 6. A clean and healthy environment, 7. Strengthen the national language as well as the mother tongues, 8. Free all the political detainees, 9. Save our heritage and traditional kampung, 10. Better living standards for women.

4.44pm: PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat leads the rally to pray, concluding the mass rally that started as early as 9am today.

4.51pm: The national anthem is sung for a last time. The emcee then calls on participants to disperse peacefully.

5pm: Speaking to Malaysiakini after the event, rally secretariat member Hishamuddin Rais estimates there were half a million people in the rally today.

"I went to check everywhere. We had about 40,000 to 50,000 people in the stadium, about half a million if adding in the crowd outside," he says.

Below is the transcript of the talk of Dr. Richard Teo, who is a 40-year-old millionaire and cosmetic surgeon with a stage-4 lung cancer but selflessly came to share with the D1 class his life experience on 19-Jan-2012.

Hi good morning to all of you. My voice is a bit hoarse, so please bear with me. I thought I’ll just introduce myself. My name is Richard, I’m a medical doctor. And I thought I’ll just share some thoughts of my life. It’s my pleasure to be invited by prof. Hopefully, it can get you thinking about how… as you pursue this.. embarking on your training to become dental surgeons, to think about other things as well.

Since young, I am a typical product of today’s society. Relatively successful product that society requires.. From young, I came from a below average family. I was told by the media… and people around me that happiness is about success. And that success is about being wealthy. With this mind-set, I’ve always be extremely competitive, since I was young.

Not only do I need to go to the top school, I need to have success in all fields. Uniform groups, track, everything. I needed to get trophies, needed to be successful, I needed to have colours award, national colours award, everything. So I was highly competitive since young. I went on to medical school, graduated as a doctor. Some of you may know that within the medical faculty, ophthalmology is one of the most highly sought after specialities. So I went after that as well. I was given a traineeship in ophthalmology, I was also given a research scholarship by NUS to develop lasers to treat the eye.

So in the process, I was given 2 patents, one for the medical devices, and another for the lasers. And you know what, all this academic achievements did not bring me any wealth. So once I completed my bond with MOH, I decided that this is taking too long, the training in eye surgery is just taking too long. And there’s lots of money to be made in the private sector. If you’re aware, in the last few years, there is this rise in aesthetic medicine. Tons of money to be made there. So I decided, well, enough of staying in institution, it’s time to leave. So I quit my training halfway and I went on to set up my aesthetic clinic… in town, together with a day surgery centre.

You know the irony is that people do not make heroes out average GP (general practitioner), family physicians. They don’t. They make heroes out of people who are rich and famous. People who are not happy to pay $20 to see a GP, the same person have no qualms paying ten thousand dollars for a liposuction, 15 thousand dollars for a breast augmentation, and so on and so forth. So it’s a no brainer isn’t? Why do you want to be a gp? Become an aesthetic physician. So instead of healing the sick and ill, I decided that I’ll become a glorified beautician. So, business was good, very good. It started off with waiting of one week, then became 3weeks, then one month, then 2 months, then 3 months. I was overwhelmed; there were just too many patients. Vanities are fantastic business. I employed one doctor, the second doctor, the 3rd doctor, the 4th doctor. And within the 1st year, we’re already raking in millions. Just the 1st year. But never is enough because I was so obsessed with it. I started to expand into Indonesia to get all the rich Indonesian tai-tais who wouldn’t blink an eye to have a procedure done. So life was really good.

So what do I do with the spare cash. How do I spend my weekends? Typically, I’ll have car club gatherings. I take out my track car, with spare cash I got myself a track car. We have car club gatherings. We’ll go up to Sepang in Malaysia. We’ll go for car racing. And it was my life. With other spare cash, what do i do? I get myself a Ferrari. At that time, the 458 wasn’t out, it’s just a spider convertible, 430. This is a friend of mine, a schoolmate who is a forex trader, a banker. So he got a red one, he was wanting all along a red one, I was getting the silver one.

So what do I do after getting a car? It’s time to buy a house, to build our own bungalows. So we go around looking for a land to build our own bungalows, we went around hunting. So how do i live my life? Well, we all think we have to mix around with the rich and famous. This is one of the Miss Universe. So we hang around with the beautiful, rich and famous. This by the way is an internet founder. So this is how we spend our lives, with dining and all the restaurants and Michelin Chefs you know.

So I reach a point in life that I got everything for my life. I was at the pinnacle of my career and all. That’s me one year ago in the gym and I thought I was like, having everything under control and reaching the pinnacle.

Well, I was wrong. I didn’t have everything under control. About last year March, I started to develop backache in the middle of nowhere. I thought maybe it was all the heavy squats I was doing. So I went to SGH, saw my classmate to do an MRI, to make sure it’s not a slipped disc or anything. And that evening, he called me up and said that we found bone marrow replacement in your spine. I said, sorry what does that mean? I mean I know what it means, but I couldn’t accept that. I was like “Are you serious?” I was still running around going to the gym you know. But we had more scans the next day, PET scans – positrons emission scans, they found that actually I have stage 4 terminal lung cancer. I was like “Whoa where did that come from?” It has already spread to the brain, the spine, the liver and the adrenals. And you know one moment I was there, totally thinking that I have everything under control, thinking that I’ve reached the pinnacle of my life. But the next moment, I have just lost it.

This is a CT scan of the lungs itself. If you look at it, every single dot there is a tumour. We call this miliaries tumour. And in fact, I have tens of thousands of them in the lungs. So, I was told that even with chemotherapy, that I’ll have about 3-4months at most. Did my life come crushing on, of course it did, who wouldn’t? I went into depression, of course, severe depression and I thought I had everything.

See the irony is that all these things that I have, the success, the trophies, my cars, my house and all. I thought that brought me happiness. But i was feeling really down, having severe depression. Having all these thoughts of my possessions, they brought me no joy. The thought of… You know, I can hug my Ferrari to sleep, no… No, it is not going to happen. It brought not a single comfort during my last ten months. And I thought they were, but they were not true happiness. But it wasn’t. What really brought me joy in the last ten months was interaction with people, my loved ones, friends, people who genuinely care about me, they laugh and cry with me, and they are able to identify the pain and suffering I was going through. That brought joy to me, happiness. None of the things I have, all the possessions, and I thought those were supposed to bring me happiness. But it didn’t, because if it did, I would have felt happy think about it, when I was feeling most down.

You know the classical Chinese New Year that is coming up. In the past, what do I do? Well, I will usually drive my flashy car to do my rounds, visit my relatives, to show it off to my friends. And I thought that was joy, you know. I thought that was really joy. But do you really think that my relatives and friends, whom some of them have difficulty trying to make ends meet, that will truly share the joy with me? Seeing me driving my flashy car and showing off to them? No, no way. They won’t be sharing joy with me. They were having problems trying to make ends meet, taking public transport. In fact i think, what I have done is more like you know, making them envious, jealous of all I have. In fact, sometimes even hatred.

Those are what we call objects of envy. I have them, I show them off to them and I feel it can fill my own pride and ego. That didn’t bring any joy to these people, to my friends and relatives, and I thought they were real joy.

Well, let me just share another story with you. You know when I was about your age, I stayed in king Edward VII hall. I had this friend whom I thought was strange. Her name is Jennifer, we’re still good friends. And as I walk along the path, she would, if she sees a snail, she would actually pick up the snail and put it along the grass patch. I was like why do you need to do that? Why dirty your hands? It’s just a snail. The truth is she could feel for the snail. The thought of being crushed to death is real to her, but to me it’s just a snail. If you can’t get out of the pathway of humans then you deserve to be crushed, it’s part of evolution isn’t it? What an irony isn’t it?

There I was being trained as a doctor, to be compassionate, to be able to empathise; but I couldn’t. As a house officer, I graduated from medical school, posted to the oncology department at NUH. And, every day, every other day I witness death in the cancer department. When I see how they suffered, I see all the pain they went through. I see all the morphine they have to press every few minutes just to relieve their pain. I see them struggling with their oxygen breathing their last breath and all. But it was just a job. When I went to clinic every day, to the wards every day, take blood, give the medication but was the patient real to me? They weren’t real to me. It was just a job, I do it, I get out of the ward, I can’t wait to get home, I do my own stuff.

Was the pain, was the suffering the patients went through real? No. Of course I know all the medical terms to describe how they feel, all the suffering they went through. But in truth, I did not know how they feel, not until I became a patient. It is until now; I truly understand how they feel. And, if you ask me, would I have been a very different doctor if I were to re-live my life now, I can tell you yes I will. Because I truly understand how the patients feel now. And sometimes, you have to learn it the hard way.

Even as you start just your first year, and you embark this journey to become dental surgeons, let me just challenge you on two fronts.

Inevitably, all of you here will start to go into private practice. You will start to accumulate wealth. I can guarantee you. Just doing an implant can bring you thousands of dollars, it’s fantastic money. And actually there is nothing wrong with being successful, with being rich or wealthy, absolutely nothing wrong. The only trouble is that a lot of us like myself couldn’t handle it.

Why do I say that? Because when I start to accumulate, the more I have, the more I want. The more I wanted, the more obsessed I became. Like what I showed you earlier on, all I can was basically to get more possessions, to reach the pinnacle of what society did to us, of what society wants us to be. I became so obsessed that nothing else really mattered to me. Patients were just a source of income, and I tried to squeeze every single cent out of these patients.

A lot of times we forget, whom we are supposed to be serving. We become so lost that we serve nobody else but just ourselves. That was what happened to me. Whether it is in the medical, the dental fraternity, I can tell you, right now in the private practice, sometimes we just advise patients on treatment that is not indicated. Grey areas. And even though it is not necessary, we kind of advocate it. Even at this point, I know who are my friends and who genuinely cared for me and who are the ones who try to make money out of me by selling me “hope”. We kind of lose our moral compass along the way. Because we just want to make money.

Worse, I can tell you, over the last few years, we bad mouth our fellow colleagues, our fellow competitors in the industry. We have no qualms about it. So if we can put them down to give ourselves an advantage, we do it. And that’s what happening right now, medical, dental everywhere. My challenge to you is not to lose that moral compass. I learnt it the hard way, I hope you don’t ever have to do it.

Secondly, a lot of us will start to get numb to our patients as we start to practise. Whether is it government hospitals, private practice, I can tell you when I was in the hospital, with stacks of patient folders, I can’t wait to get rid of those folders as soon as possible; I can’t wait to get patients out of my consultation room as soon as possible because there is just so many, and that’s a reality. Because it becomes a job, a very routine job. And this is just part of it. Do I truly know how the patient feels back then? No, I don’t. The fears and anxiety and all, do I truly understand what they are going through? I don’t, not until when this happens to me and I think that is one of the biggest flaws in our system.

We’re being trained to be healthcare providers, professional, and all and yet we don’t know how exactly they feel. I’m not asking you to get involved emotionally, I don’t think that is professional but do we actually make a real effort to understand their pain and all? Most of us won’t, alright, I can assure you. So don’t lose it, my challenge to you is to always be able to put yourself in your patient’s shoes.

Because the pain, the anxiety, the fear are very real even though it’s not real to you, it’s real to them. So don’t lose it and you know, right now I’m in the midst of my 5th cycle of my chemotherapy. I can tell you it’s a terrible feeling. Chemotherapy is one of those things that you don’t wish even your enemies to go through because it’s just suffering, lousy feeling, throwing out, you don’t even know if you can retain your meals or not. Terrible feeling! And even with whatever little energy now I have, I try to reach out to other cancer patients because I truly understand what pain and suffering is like. But it’s kind of little too late and too little.

You guys have a bright future ahead of you with all the resource and energy, so I’m going to challenge you to go beyond your immediate patients. To understand that there are people out there who are truly in pain, truly in hardship. Don’t get the idea that only poor people suffer. It is not true. A lot of these poor people do not have much in the first place, they are easily contented. for all you know they are happier than you and me but there are out there, people who are suffering mentally, physically, hardship, emotionally, financially and so on and so forth, and they are real. We choose to ignore them or we just don’t want to know that they exist.

So do think about it alright, even as you go on to become professionals and dental surgeons and all. That you can reach out to these people who are in need. Whatever you do can make a large difference to them. I’m now at the receiving end so I know how it feels, someone who genuinely care for you, encourage and all. It makes a lot of difference to me. That’s what happens after treatment. I had a treatment recently, but I’ll leave this for another day. A lot of things happened along the way, that’s why I am still able to talk to you today.

I’ll just end of with this quote here, it’s from this book called Tuesdays with Morris, and some of you may have read it. Everyone knows that they are going to die; every one of us knows that. The truth is, none of us believe it because if we did, we will do things differently. When I faced death, when I had to, I stripped myself off all stuff totally and I focused only on what is essential. The irony is that a lot of times, only when we learn how to die then we learn how to live. I know it sounds very morbid for this morning but it’s the truth, this is what I’m going through.

Don’t let society tell you how to live. Don’t let the media tell you what you’re supposed to do. Those things happened to me. And I led this life thinking that these are going to bring me happiness. I hope that you will think about it and decide for yourself how you want to live your own life. Not according to what other people tell you to do, and you have to decide whether you want to serve yourself, whether you are going to make a difference in somebody else’s life. Because true happiness doesn’t come from serving yourself. I thought it was but it didn’t turn out that way. With that I thank you, if you have any questions you have for me, please feel free. Oh my!!! Time really flies.. I didn't even realize that i haven't blog for a very long time.. Hopefully this year i will be able to blog more.. =)

First of all, I would like to wish everyone of you Happy New Year!!! May 2013 brings good health, long life and prosperity to all of you! I hope this year doesn't flies as fast as last year..

For me 2012 was a good year although there are ups and downs.. However, it was great experience and learning journey doing the downs and am glad to have my family and friends around during my difficult times. I mean in life, who doesn't have downs right. As long as you have support and encouragement from family and friends, you will eventually be fine.. =)

Is been 4 months since am in UK doing my Master.. I cannot imagine how time flies. During the last 4 months it was really hectic for me.. I was overwhelmed with lots of research assignments.However, at the same time, i also had lots of fun. Is a journey where i had great experience learning and experiencing new stuff.. at the same time, making new friends along the way.. Am really really glad to be able to make good friends here too..Am really glad and honoured to be able to have friends like them. I guess I will be posting up some photos here soon.. =) Is been a great journey for me so far and no matter how tough the workload will me am sure i will be fine as long as i try my best and do whatever i can.. The passion and drives will pulled me through. As for the studies part, i am actually having difficulties here but I am fine. =)

I would really like to thank my beloved dad and mum for giving me such a great experience and opportunity to be here in the UK.. Dad and mum, although we are miles apart, I miss all of you a lot. Thank you so much for giving me such a memorable experience and am going to make full use of it. Huggss.. =)

I hope 2013 will be a better year for everyone including myself. Let's all enjoy this year and make full use of it. No matter what is in store for all of you this year, let's all be strong and overcome whatever obstacles along the way! Have fun at the same time! All the best to all of you!

To my Malaysian friends, I missed all of you a lot. Thank you so much for always supporting me and keeping in touch.. =) Am so sad that i will have to miss 2 of my best friends wedding! New Adventure: Part 1: Leeds

Yo! Sorry for the really lack of posting.. I have been super duper busy! =(

First of all, Thank you for all your support and being my faithful readers for so many years. =) Please do continue to support me.. Hehehe.. =)

Wheee.. Is a really new adventure for me since last month! Many of you might have know that am now in UK furthering my education. Am currently doing my MA in Early Years in Nottingham Trent University.. Is a nice university and the people here is very helpful and friendly. I left Malaysia on the 8th of September and arrived in UK (Leeds) on the 8th of Sept 2012.. I went to Leeds first with my friend before heading to Nottingham.. Was at Leeds for a week.. =) It was really nice.. Had lots of fun! Some of the photos in Leeds.. Enjoy while i will be posting part 2 of my new adventure soon.. Stay tune guys! =)

Sorry for the late post of the London 2012 Olympics. The London 2012 Olympics ended last week on the 12th of August 2012.. The Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremony was great! I was following the Olympics but just didnt have time to blog about it! I will be blogging about Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Pandelela Rinong. Here is a blog post dedicated to Datuk Lee Chong Wei! =)

As all of you Malaysians have already know by now that Malaysia won 2 medals from Datuk Lee Chong Wei (Silver) and Pandelela Rinong (Bronze). I know that all Malaysians have hoped and prayed that Datuk Lee Chong Wei could win us a gold medal.. But unfortunately he couldnt.. However, we Malaysians are STILL PROUD OF HIM FOR HIS FIGHTING SPIRIT!!! It was a very very closed match.. You can see that Lin Dan was also feeling the pressure playing with Datuk Lee Chong Wei. Not forgetting, he was injured before the Olympics game.. Instead of blogging about it, this is the status update that I had posted on facebook after the game: Great Game DLCW!!! Eventhough Dato' Lee Chong Wei lost but he really tries his best and show great fighting spirit! A really really close match.. Congratulations DLCW!!! You still make Malaysians proud! Thank you for bringing back a silver for Malaysia! We still love and respect you! ♥

National badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei has apologised to all Malaysians for failing to bring back the gold medal from the London 2012 Olympics.

Lee posted the apology via his Twitter handle @Lee_C_Wei about half-an-hour after the nail-biting battle with China's Lin Dan, which saw him going down in the rubber set.

The tweet has been re-tweeted over 16,000 times at press time.

Heartbreak as Chong Wei falls to Lin Dan

LEE Chong Wei came agonisingly close to winning the gold but the Wembley curse ensured that China’s Lin Dan once again ruled the roost.

Chong Wei had hoped to make history as the first Malaysian to win an Olympic gold but it was Lin Dan and China who wrote themselves into the record books. Lin Dan as the first man to win the Olympic crown twice while China made an unprecedented sweep of all five titles at stake.

It was more agony for Chong Wei, who had to play second fiddle to Lin Dan yet again, losing 21-15, 10-21, 19-21 in a 79-minute thriller.

Lin Dan had also denied the Malaysian in the World Championship title at the same venue last year.

Chong Wei’s hope of laying to rest the Wembley demons will have to wait a while longer but there will be no Olympic redemption as London 2012 was his last Games.

And it wasn’t from want of trying. Chong Wei had looked set to finally end the Lin Dan hoodoo when he to raced to victory in the first game.

But in the end, Lin Dan’s staying power and mastery made all the difference as Chong Wei sank to the court in tears. He had finished second best again having lost to the Chinese ace in Beijing four years ago.

Being Malaysia’s only double Olympic medal winner was small consolation as Chong Wei had been determined to deliver the gold.

Chong Wei later apologised to Malaysians for his failure.

“I tried really hard and am sorry not to have won. I played better than I did in Beijing or the World Championships but it seems that I’m destined to play bridesmaid to Lin Dan.

“I’m sorry for not getting the gold for the people of Malaysia,” he said.

Lin Dan said it had been a lot harder winning this time.

“A lot of sacrifice and hard work went into this. Chong Wei is a worthy opponent and I have a lot of respect for him,” he said.

“I look forward to resuming my rivalry with him. We will meet again in a league competition in China at the end of the month.”

Chong Wei said this was to have been his last Olympics although he intended to carry on for the moment.

“I plan to go on until the 2014 Asian Games. I also intend to win the World Championship and Commonwealth Games before calling it a day,” he said.

Chong Wei, who had almost missed the Games because of the ankle injury, faded a little from the middle of the second game, allowing Lin Dan’s magnificent range of strokes to flourish.

When Chong Wei’s final shot dropped long, Lin Dan, often described as the best player the game has seen, sprinted round the stadium, ripped off his shirt and wept in celebration, saluting the crowd as he held the Chinese flag.

Chong Wei cut an inconsolable figure as he sat alone on the empty court.

Neither is likely to play another Olympics. As a farewell to the Games, the final provided almost everything that could have been hoped for.

AUG 7 — Datuk Lee Chong Wei landed this morning to a warm golden welcome, despite the Olympic heartbreak on Sunday.

The badminton champion did not let the country down as he battled all the way to the final only to lose to a better player, the Chinese star Lin Dan, again.

You know who let Malaysia down? It’s the shocking number of sports officials who manage our sportsmen — the ones who select them, train them and accompany them to each and every competition across the world, in this case, the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Here’s the rub. Malaysia has funding for sports, sports schools, dedicated programmes and no shortage of sports officials to manage all of this.

But we have a dearth of talent. Pray tell, who after Lee will take on the mantle and challenge the Chinese in badminton? Will we end up like the Indonesians, as also-rans?

It is ridiculous that one man had to carry the hopes of 28 million Malaysians and this has been the case every four years. We pin our hopes on the few, the rare talents that make it to the world stage.

And when they make it, these officials bask in the shared glory of the moment. But if these sportsmen lose, there will be excuses and a plea to try again and a pledge to do better.

In most cases, the athletes, sportsmen and sportswomen will eventually retire from competitive events. Some will turn to coaching, some will move on.

But the same officials will continue in their positions of comfort and power despite the mediocrity in the results.

Malaysia needs a change in the top brass of sports. We need officials who have heart and smarts to nurture, develop and train our future athletes and sports people.

And we need them to also take the responsibility when there is failure. The old ways are gone. Why should sportsmen and sportswomen carry the burden of our hopes and aspirations?

What about these officials? Shouldn’t they bear the responsibility too, as they are using public funds for their programmes.

Otherwise, there will be no progress and our heartbreak will continue.

Lee Chong Wei moved heaven and earth at the London Games on Sunday, in his bid to win Malaysia's first Olympic gold medal ever, but in the end he couldn't conquer badminton's highest peak.

China's Lin Dan overhauled Chong Wei in the final of the men's badminton singles to become the first man to defend the title and break our hearts once again.

Chong Wei charged out of the blocks to raise our hopes, but Lin dug deep for a 15–21 21–10 21–19 victory to deny him in their second successive Games final. They fought a 79-minute thriller, the conclusion of every point roared on by a packed crowd at Wembley Arena.

Chong Wei threw everything at his long-time nemesis, but he lost the final point when he pushed a lob past the baseline, sending Lin into a frenzy. As he wheeled away in ecstasy after sealing the gold, a distraught Chong Wei slumped to the court unable to believe he had Lin on the ropes but let him get away.

Lin Dan broke millions of Malaysian hearts when he snatched the gold from Chong Wei's final decision of the match.

"I apologise to all the Malaysian people. I wanted very much to win the first ever gold medal for my people," Chong Wei told reporters later. "I only prepared for two weeks because of injuries and had to take pain killers to play. I fought hard and I gave all my best to try to win."

"I thank all the supporters who came all the way from Malaysia," he added. "I feel sorry that I didn't win gold and feel disappointed that I couldn't deliver gold to the Malaysian team."

Chong Wei went into the tournament scrambling to be fit after sustaining an ankle injury in May, and after surviving a shaky first round win, he mowed through a succession of opponents to set up a chance of redemption against Lin.

Lin defeated Chong Wei at the Beijing Olympics four years ago to win an emotional gold medal on his home court, but on Sunday he had to survive withering pressure from our man who delivered the performance of a lifetime in the frenetic atmosphere of the arena. But it wasn't enough to get the better of the current world number one.

Chong Wei, who has held the number one ranking but never won a world or Asian Games title, was desperate to end our 48-year wait for an Olympic gold. He came agonisingly close, pushing to within two points of victory, but made a judgement call he may regret for years when he allowed the shuttlecock to fall and clip the baseline.

That opened the door for Lin, and with frenzied Chinese fans yelling "Kill! Kill!" Lin closed out the match to win the classic rally. He dashed madly to a corner of the venue to be wrapped up in a bear hug by coach Li Yongbo, while Chong Wei dropped to his knees as his coaches tried to console him.

Chong Wei, who tore an ankle tendon in May and was at one point doubtful to get on the plane for London, paid tribute to his Chinese foe after the battle.

"There can only be one Lin Dan in the world," he said. "We have other players like Taufik Hidayat, Peter Gade, Chen Long ... It's not an issue for me to play with those players but it's an issue for me to play Lin Dan."

Chong Wei celebrates his semi-final victory that would put him up once again for an Olympic medal.

Chong Wei thanked his vocal fans for going all the way to London to support him and was disappointed not to give them the gold they so dearly wanted. "I wanted to win so much that it became too much pressure. Everyone at home wanted me to win. I worked very hard but what is done is done."

Chong Wei's coach, Rashid Sidek, acknowledged the weight of expectation he had carried throughout the Games. "It is very frustrating because all the mission wanted him to win the first ever gold medal for Malaysia," said Rashid. "It was very disappointing but it was especially disappointing for him."

Malaysia's chef de mission Tun Ahmad Sarji said Chong Wei had given his all in the game. "It is like climbing Mount Everest—Lee was one or two steps from the summit, that is all," he said.

Lin also paid tribute to Chong Wei. "Lee is such a brilliant rival. This is quite lucky for me. I treasure the opportunities to play against him. I don't know if I'll play against him in another four years but we'll see each other in Chinese badminton tournaments."

Lin Dan and Chong Wei's rivalry and respect have pushed both men to the very best of their game and the sport.

Wembley Arena is used to seeing China sweep tournaments. A year ago they marched in holding all five world titles and marched back out having retained them all. While Lin was guarded about the impact of China's dominance on the sport, Chong Wei pulled no punches.

"It is good for China, but as for the other countries they have to work harder," he said. "Other countries need to have a succession plan and they need to work harder to stop China dominating this sport."

Lin said he hoped his epic final against Chong Wei would showcase the very best of badminton, after the sport was rocked by a match-throwing scandal that saw eight female players disqualified from the London Games.

"I really hope badminton isn't affected by the disqualifications in this tournament. This medal is a confirmation of the sport. I hope that my performance and Lee's performance today is evidence of that," he said.

He's a long way from London but Chong Wei's dad, Lee Ah Chai, cheers his son on the telly while watching the game in Bukit Mertajam.

Meanwhile, a long-delayed banquet to celebrate Lin's marriage beckons for the 28-year-old and his wife Xie Xingfang, herself a former world champion badminton player who took silver at the Beijing Games.

Delayed for years by his training for London, Lin said that when it came together he would invite Chong Wei and 2004 Athens champion Taufik Hidayat, both of whom have confirmed they will never play in another Games.

"I want to give my wife a perfect wedding," Lin said. "I definitely want to invite Lee and Taufik and other great players. It all depends on whether they have time. I don't ask for too many gifts, just a big hongbao," he joked.

Chong Wei's silver medal was Malaysia's first at the London Games and the fifth in total at the Olympics—three silver and two bronze—all in badminton.

Let The Man Be The Man He Is

I had a good chat with a friend about dads growing old. I assume we are all filial sons and daughters. When our dads grow older and older, maybe some will have retired from their careers by now. I wonder how many of us "love our dads" in the way that allows him to continue to be the man that he is.

Dads who are now retired are dads from a different era. Most of our dads are the strong silent types, not like many of the younger dads nowadays who will try to be good friends with their kids.

A man of the house usually takes the lead in the household. He takes care of the paycheck. He calls the shots in many areas of the household matters. When they retire, they may not have access to as much "money as before" - gee, do you ever wonder why, thats because he has brought you guys up, send you guys to further your studies, even finance your first car or even your first home, down payment for this and that. Flying you back from overseas, etc...

Now he may be pushing 60 or 70, he may be living primarily off what you kids give him. We somehow think if we give them a few thousand ringgit a month, we have done our part. Your dad is still the man he was, faults and all. He used to call the shots, ask you guys where you like to have dinner, ask you guys what you want for your birthdays.

Now, he has to take money from you guys. Funds may not be so "loose". When you guys take him out to dinner, he doesn't have the "right" to pay for you guys anymore. Heck, he may even shy away from ordering whatever he likes from the menu or dictate where he wants to have dinner. He may not even be able to just take your mum wherever they wish to go for holidays.

In these very many small ways, he is not "allowed to be the man he used to be". We as children should empathise with that. If we can afford it, we should give him more than what he needs to survive. We should allow our father to be the father he still is.

A person's spirit is the hardest to please and easiest to break. Love comes in many disguises. Love is not just money but our attitude as well. Reconsider how we love our dads. Mine is no longer around. If your dad still is, be thankful, and be the better son and daughter. Love your dad better.

new tactic used by the thieves and robbers & spreading into PJ & other
KL areas. Be careful when there is a motorist approaching while you
are driving alone in a car. These days, the thieves will spray some
liquid on your tyre which leads to smoke outburst.

When you encounter such a situation, don't panic. Stay calm & don't
ever try to park your car to check what is going on. This is the
intention purposely created by these thieves to get your attention.
Once you get out from your car, they will snatch your belongings or
may even harm you.

So, if you ever encounter such an incident, drive to a safe place
where crowded people are or to a petrol or police station. As for the
stain, use water to clean it up, that's all.
Look after your own safety, especially to those ladies out there. What
ever happens, don't simply walk out from your car! This is a true case
that has occurred before.

Sorry guys,

It has been a long time since i last updated this blog.. Have been busy but I will start updating this blog again soon.. Hopefully.. Hahaha...

Anyways, I bet most of you watched the Badminton World Championship match between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.. Since it was Live on TV I managed to catch this tournament.. No astro can't watch the other tournaments.. Sob Sob.. Back to the match, the results didn't favor Lee Chong Wei.. It was so near yet so far.. Although is sad to see him lost but I would want to congratulate Lee Chong Wei for giving all his best and fought with everything he got.. Guess luck wasn't with him that night.. But he played well and gave a difficult time to Lin Dan.. So even though he lost, am still proud of him for giving his very best and closing the gap between him and Lin Dan.. It was an exciting and interesting match between both of them.. Hopefully luck will be with him during the Olympics.. Go Lee Chong Wei.. Do your best and the nation will always support you.. We are still proud of you even though you lost to Lin Dan in the finals..

IT was a magical moment at the Wembley Arena yesterday but it did not belong to Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei.

Yesterday, China’s superstar Lin Dan shattered Chong Wei’s dream of becoming Malaysia’s first world champion when he came from behind twice in the decider to troop home with a sensational 20-22, 21-14, 23-21 win in an adrenaline-pumping, one-hour-and-22 minute men’s singles final.

The 29-year-old Chong Wei had held the upper hand at 16-12 and 20-18 in the decider in the dream final of the World Championships between the two greatest men’s singles players but luck deserted him at the crucial state.

And to add misery to his agonising defeat, Chong Wei, who put up a sombre face during the victory ceremony, rushed out with cramps on both his legs and was lying in a corner with tears in his eyes.

It was truly a sad end for Chong Wei, who had been so convincing and confident in his play throughout the week, sparking a great hope for Malaysia to produce a first winner since the tournament’s inception in 1977.

On Saturday, he had reached his first final in his sixth attempt in the world meet to become only the second Malaysian after Wong Choong Hann to do so.

After a good rub-down, Chong Wei said that he was disappointed with the outcome but vowed to move forward – with his focus on next year’s Olympic Games.

“I had two chances to end the game but it did not happen for me ... Lin Dan took a great gamble at the crucial stage and I was quite unlucky,” said Chong Wei.

“I gave my all. This is my best and closest match against Lin Dan. It hurts to lose by two points in this manner.

“I may have lost to him but I showed that nothing much separates us. I made some mistakes today but I will be ready for him the next time.

“I am still happy with my achievement of reaching my first final here. It has been a good season. I have reached every final since the start of this year.

“I will shift my attention to the Olympic Games. It is 11 months away and I want to better prepared.

And he gave the Malaysian fans some good news: “I may have lost the opportunity to become the country’s first champion but I am coming back. I will be back in 2013 to get it right,” added Chong Wei, who left for home yesterday.

It started with three quick easy points for Chong Wei following Lin Dan’s unusual poor service return shots.

Then, the real battle began with Chong Wei and Lin Dan trying to outfox each other with their blistering pace, punishing smashes, unbelievable netplays and incredible retrieves.

The Malaysian stayed ahead to take a 20-18 lead but Lin Dan was always dangerously snapping at his heels. Lin Dan’s brilliance at the net saw him levelling at 20-20 but a quick recovery saw the Malaysian taking the first game at 22-20.

The second game went on in the same fashion but this time, Lin Dan dictated the pace until 11-9. A brief nervy spell by a slower Chong Wei saw Lin Dan taking a 17-10 lead and eventually forcing a rubber game with a 21-14 win.

Both came back recharged and determined to outdo each other and what a fight it was.

The decider was a thriller with both displaying class and quality but it was Lin Dan who had a better finish to nick his fourth world title to emerge as the world’s greatest player.

HIS apology to Malaysia was from the heart but Lee Chong Wei vowed to not only go for gold in the London Olympics next year but also make one more assault on the World Championships in 2013 before hanging up his racquet.

The disappointment that he must have been nursing was well masked but there were times during the press conference that Chong Wei looked like he would break down -- as he did during the medal presentation -- but there was also a steely resolve visible.

Having settled for second place for a third time after also losing to Lin Dan in the 2008 Olympics and last year's Asian Games, Chong Wei could have been forgiven for thinking that he is just not destined to win a major.

But yesterday's result, which saw him coming within a point of claiming the World Championships title at London's Wembley Arena before losing 22-20, 14-21, 23-21, has made the shuttler even more determined.

"I apologise to Malaysia for I know that the whole country was behind me. I tried my best but it was not to be and I hope that they will forgive me," said Chong Wei, who needed medical treatment for cramps and nausea after the 86-minute final.

It was a final that had everything as momentum swung from end to end but when it came to the crucial moments, it was Lin Dan who was the better.

"His quality is such that he refuses to give up. He came back when I led 16-14 in the rubber game and even when I held matchpoint at 20-19 and 21-20.

"He was willing to take risks and that was the difference as I tried to play safe. He is a great player but what makes me happy, despite the defeat, is that I have narrowed the gap with him and this can only mean good for me," said the World No 1.

The ranking, though, would stand for nothing if Chong Wei doesn't land a major before retiring and the 29-year-old said this is exactly what he plans to do.

"I have a good chance in next year's Olympics and I am going to try for the world title one more time. I have unfinished business in the World Championships and both these tournaments will be what I will focus on from now on."

The World Championships will not be contested next year but Chong Wei said he will immediately start preparing for the Olympics, which are in less than a year's time.

"I will need help from all quarters, especially as we can be sure that China will unleash all their players from now on. I don't only have to worry about Lin Dan but also Chen Jin, Chen Long and Du Pengyu. There are also the rest of the nations to worry about and my programme must cater for all these."

On current form, it does seem like Lin Dan is the only player capable of stopping Chong Wei from winning Olympic gold but the Malaysian said he had been boosted by his performance yesterday.

"Lin Dan won the title and was the better player during the crucial moments but I was not too far behind. Nothing much separates us and victory is always going to go to the player who performs better on matchday.

"I had my chances but didn't take them while he did but this is not the end for I will continue trying to deliver what Malaysia wants."

Time passes very fast, and when I am unhappy the children will always be there to make me feel better by just talking or playing with them. My boss has always been very kind and patient with me.. She had always patiently advice and guide me during my tenure with her both during my full-time and part-time. Thank you boss for everything you have given me..

Yes, I left Play N Learn after one year due to some personal issues. But I went back working in Play N Learn as a part-timer. And of course I didn't make the wrong decision because I had great fun working there again.. When I resign as a full-timer, it was really difficult to bid goodbye to all the children that I loved. Therefore, I couldn't help, but again make a decision to go back and work part-time in order to be able to be with them. It was really enjoyable working with them and the parents.. The joy that I had experience during my full-time and part-time is beyond words.

I can't imagine how much sadness in me when Play N Learn 1 Utama had officially closed on the 31th of March! It was a very difficult decision for my boss to make this decision. Although it is sad but since she had decided, I should accept the decision and wish her all the very best. I understand her situation and thus she had to make this difficult decision. Is time for her to spend time with her wonderful kids and also to have more time for herself. The reason she decided to closed Play N Learn is attached below:

Therefore during the last weekend, my boss had decided to throw a farewell party for all the children and parents. Although it was a sad occasion but we also had a great time. During our last weekend together all the ex-full timers, ex-partimers, current full timers and part-timers came and join the farewell... It was fun and yet sad. You can see the kids were sad, the parents were sad and all of us were sad, but we continue to look and the bright side and enjoy ur last gathering together in Play N Learn.. It was really fun talking with everyone. As Stephanie said "Play N Learn is the place we met, we laughed, we cry and we shared.. Like a big family.

I am grateful that I had make a decision to work in Play N Learn. Now am able to know I really have a passion working with children. At first I wasn't very sure but since working in Play N Learn I know this is what i really wanted. I would like to specially thank boss for teaching, guiding and advising me during my ups and downs there. Thank you for always patiently forgiving me for all the mistakes and inconvenience cause to you. Thank you for always believing in me and always showing me the way.

Thank you to Stephanie for guiding, teaching and always there for me when I need her help. It was you who patiently guide me when I first started. Thank you for always being there to help me even after u resign. I sincerely thank you for everything and or cos always patiently forgiving me in all the mistakes i have done. It was a joy working with you. Thank you Ellan for the time I was there. Thank you for instructing and leading me on what do to. Is nice knowing you.

I would also like to thank all the parents who had always be patient with me and always a joy and fun working and chatting with. Thank you for always forgiving me for all the mistakes I have make during the time and always willingly forgiving me. My sincere apologies for all the inconvenience cause during my time there. Thank you very much to all the wonderful parents.

Thank you to all the wonderful kids who are always there for me.. Is the joy to work with all the kids. I remember once I was very down when I first started, but am very lucky to the wonderful children who make me smile and without fail no matter how sad I am, I would always me able to smile once i see all these wonderful kids. Am so going to miss all of you! Huggs and kisses to all the kids in Play N Learn!

Thank you to all the teachers who had help me alot too.. Without them, it wouldn't be that easy working there.. The teachers there are super fun... They are very nice to work with.. And most importantly the kids have great fun with them too.. Thank you Victor, Pei Fong, Wai Wai, Phyllis and many many other teachers.. Thank you for being there for me all these while.. Am really grateful to be able to work and meet you guys... Take care and please do keep in touch..

Of coz, not forgetting all my part-timers who are always willingly there to help me during my time in Play N Learn. Without you, I am very sure I wont be able to cope in Play N Learn. Thank you for always staying back/always eating late or even skip lunch to help me when there are a lot of people on Saturday. I really appreciate all your help. You definitely make life easier.. It was super great fun working with you guys.. I hope you guys have great fun working with me too.. :) I would like to apologies to each and everyone of you if i have unintentionally hurt you. Thank you again for the support you guys have given me. Keep in touch always.. And let's have fun!

Not forgetting, Thank you to Terry from Global Art, Hazel and Company from London English Academy, Pat from Scholastic and many others who have always help me.. especially during events and many more.. Is because of your patient and help, I was able to organize the events.. Thank you for everything from classes to events. Really appreciate all your help and time.

Although Play N Learn had already closed, but am sure all our memories will always be treasure and cherished in our hearts.. Let's always keep in touch and may our friendship continues and grows stronger. I would like to wish everyone Good Health and All the very best in your future undertakings. Good luck to all my part-timers who are still studying and am sure you guys will be fine! Study Hard and Have fun at the same time.. =)
