It has been a long time since i last updated this blog.. Have been busy but I will start updating this blog again soon.. Hopefully.. Hahaha...

Anyways, I bet most of you watched the Badminton World Championship match between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.. Since it was Live on TV I managed to catch this tournament.. No astro can't watch the other tournaments.. Sob Sob.. Back to the match, the results didn't favor Lee Chong Wei.. It was so near yet so far.. Although is sad to see him lost but I would want to congratulate Lee Chong Wei for giving all his best and fought with everything he got.. Guess luck wasn't with him that night.. But he played well and gave a difficult time to Lin Dan.. So even though he lost, am still proud of him for giving his very best and closing the gap between him and Lin Dan.. It was an exciting and interesting match between both of them.. Hopefully luck will be with him during the Olympics.. Go Lee Chong Wei.. Do your best and the nation will always support you.. We are still proud of you even though you lost to Lin Dan in the finals..

IT was a magical moment at the Wembley Arena yesterday but it did not belong to Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei.

Yesterday, China’s superstar Lin Dan shattered Chong Wei’s dream of becoming Malaysia’s first world champion when he came from behind twice in the decider to troop home with a sensational 20-22, 21-14, 23-21 win in an adrenaline-pumping, one-hour-and-22 minute men’s singles final.

The 29-year-old Chong Wei had held the upper hand at 16-12 and 20-18 in the decider in the dream final of the World Championships between the two greatest men’s singles players but luck deserted him at the crucial state.

And to add misery to his agonising defeat, Chong Wei, who put up a sombre face during the victory ceremony, rushed out with cramps on both his legs and was lying in a corner with tears in his eyes.

It was truly a sad end for Chong Wei, who had been so convincing and confident in his play throughout the week, sparking a great hope for Malaysia to produce a first winner since the tournament’s inception in 1977.

On Saturday, he had reached his first final in his sixth attempt in the world meet to become only the second Malaysian after Wong Choong Hann to do so.

After a good rub-down, Chong Wei said that he was disappointed with the outcome but vowed to move forward – with his focus on next year’s Olympic Games.

“I had two chances to end the game but it did not happen for me ... Lin Dan took a great gamble at the crucial stage and I was quite unlucky,” said Chong Wei.

“I gave my all. This is my best and closest match against Lin Dan. It hurts to lose by two points in this manner.

“I may have lost to him but I showed that nothing much separates us. I made some mistakes today but I will be ready for him the next time.

“I am still happy with my achievement of reaching my first final here. It has been a good season. I have reached every final since the start of this year.

“I will shift my attention to the Olympic Games. It is 11 months away and I want to better prepared.

And he gave the Malaysian fans some good news: “I may have lost the opportunity to become the country’s first champion but I am coming back. I will be back in 2013 to get it right,” added Chong Wei, who left for home yesterday.

It started with three quick easy points for Chong Wei following Lin Dan’s unusual poor service return shots.

Then, the real battle began with Chong Wei and Lin Dan trying to outfox each other with their blistering pace, punishing smashes, unbelievable netplays and incredible retrieves.

The Malaysian stayed ahead to take a 20-18 lead but Lin Dan was always dangerously snapping at his heels. Lin Dan’s brilliance at the net saw him levelling at 20-20 but a quick recovery saw the Malaysian taking the first game at 22-20.

The second game went on in the same fashion but this time, Lin Dan dictated the pace until 11-9. A brief nervy spell by a slower Chong Wei saw Lin Dan taking a 17-10 lead and eventually forcing a rubber game with a 21-14 win.

Both came back recharged and determined to outdo each other and what a fight it was.

The decider was a thriller with both displaying class and quality but it was Lin Dan who had a better finish to nick his fourth world title to emerge as the world’s greatest player.

HIS apology to Malaysia was from the heart but Lee Chong Wei vowed to not only go for gold in the London Olympics next year but also make one more assault on the World Championships in 2013 before hanging up his racquet.

The disappointment that he must have been nursing was well masked but there were times during the press conference that Chong Wei looked like he would break down -- as he did during the medal presentation -- but there was also a steely resolve visible.

Having settled for second place for a third time after also losing to Lin Dan in the 2008 Olympics and last year's Asian Games, Chong Wei could have been forgiven for thinking that he is just not destined to win a major.

But yesterday's result, which saw him coming within a point of claiming the World Championships title at London's Wembley Arena before losing 22-20, 14-21, 23-21, has made the shuttler even more determined.

"I apologise to Malaysia for I know that the whole country was behind me. I tried my best but it was not to be and I hope that they will forgive me," said Chong Wei, who needed medical treatment for cramps and nausea after the 86-minute final.

It was a final that had everything as momentum swung from end to end but when it came to the crucial moments, it was Lin Dan who was the better.

"His quality is such that he refuses to give up. He came back when I led 16-14 in the rubber game and even when I held matchpoint at 20-19 and 21-20.

"He was willing to take risks and that was the difference as I tried to play safe. He is a great player but what makes me happy, despite the defeat, is that I have narrowed the gap with him and this can only mean good for me," said the World No 1.

The ranking, though, would stand for nothing if Chong Wei doesn't land a major before retiring and the 29-year-old said this is exactly what he plans to do.

"I have a good chance in next year's Olympics and I am going to try for the world title one more time. I have unfinished business in the World Championships and both these tournaments will be what I will focus on from now on."

The World Championships will not be contested next year but Chong Wei said he will immediately start preparing for the Olympics, which are in less than a year's time.

"I will need help from all quarters, especially as we can be sure that China will unleash all their players from now on. I don't only have to worry about Lin Dan but also Chen Jin, Chen Long and Du Pengyu. There are also the rest of the nations to worry about and my programme must cater for all these."

On current form, it does seem like Lin Dan is the only player capable of stopping Chong Wei from winning Olympic gold but the Malaysian said he had been boosted by his performance yesterday.

"Lin Dan won the title and was the better player during the crucial moments but I was not too far behind. Nothing much separates us and victory is always going to go to the player who performs better on matchday.

"I had my chances but didn't take them while he did but this is not the end for I will continue trying to deliver what Malaysia wants."

Farewell Play N Learn!

As many of you know that after graduation I was working in Play N Learn. I had a great joy and fun during my time there.. Time passes very fast, and when I am unhappy the children will always be there to make me feel better by just talking or playing with them. My boss has always been very kind and patient with me.. She had always patiently advice and guide me during my tenure with her both during my full-time and part-time. Thank you boss for everything you have given me..

Yes, I left Play N Learn after one year due to some personal issues. But I went back working in Play N Learn as a part-timer. And of course I didn't make the wrong decision because I had great fun working there again.. When I resign as a full-timer, it was really difficult to bid goodbye to all the children that I loved. Therefore, I couldn't help, but again make a decision to go back and work part-time in order to be able to be with them. It was really enjoyable working with them and the parents.. The joy that I had experience during my full-time and part-time is beyond words.

I can't imagine how much sadness in me when Play N Learn 1 Utama had officially closed on the 31th of March! It was a very difficult decision for my boss to make this decision. Although it is sad but since she had decided, I should accept the decision and wish her all the very best. I understand her situation and thus she had to make this difficult decision. Is time for her to spend time with her wonderful kids and also to have more time for herself. The reason she decided to closed Play N Learn is attached below:

Therefore during the last weekend, my boss had decided to throw a farewell party for all the children and parents. Although it was a sad occasion but we also had a great time. During our last weekend together all the ex-full timers, ex-partimers, current full timers and part-timers came and join the farewell... It was fun and yet sad. You can see the kids were sad, the parents were sad and all of us were sad, but we continue to look and the bright side and enjoy ur last gathering together in Play N Learn.. It was really fun talking with everyone. As Stephanie said "Play N Learn is the place we met, we laughed, we cry and we shared.. Like a big family.

Here are a slideshow for you all to see the fun and wonderful time with boss, the parents, the kids, teachers and all my colleagues. Have fun viewing.

I am grateful that I had make a decision to work in Play N Learn. Now am able to know I really have a passion working with children. At first I wasn't very sure but since working in Play N Learn I know this is what i really wanted. I would like to specially thank boss for teaching, guiding and advising me during my ups and downs there. Thank you for always patiently forgiving me for all the mistakes and inconvenience cause to you. Thank you for always believing in me and always showing me the way.

Thank you to Stephanie for guiding, teaching and always there for me when I need her help. It was you who patiently guide me when I first started. Thank you for always being there to help me even after u resign. I sincerely thank you for everything and or cos always patiently forgiving me in all the mistakes i have done. It was a joy working with you. Thank you Ellan for the time I was there. Thank you for instructing and leading me on what do to. Is nice knowing you.

I would also like to thank all the parents who had always be patient with me and always a joy and fun working and chatting with. Thank you for always forgiving me for all the mistakes I have make during the time and always willingly forgiving me. My sincere apologies for all the inconvenience cause during my time there. Thank you very much to all the wonderful parents.

Thank you to all the wonderful kids who are always there for me.. Is the joy to work with all the kids. I remember once I was very down when I first started, but am very lucky to the wonderful children who make me smile and without fail no matter how sad I am, I would always me able to smile once i see all these wonderful kids. Am so going to miss all of you! Huggs and kisses to all the kids in Play N Learn!

Thank you to all the teachers who had help me alot too.. Without them, it wouldn't be that easy working there.. The teachers there are super fun... They are very nice to work with.. And most importantly the kids have great fun with them too.. Thank you Victor, Pei Fong, Wai Wai, Phyllis and many many other teachers.. Thank you for being there for me all these while.. Am really grateful to be able to work and meet you guys... Take care and please do keep in touch..

Of coz, not forgetting all my part-timers who are always willingly there to help me during my time in Play N Learn. Without you, I am very sure I wont be able to cope in Play N Learn. Thank you for always staying back/always eating late or even skip lunch to help me when there are a lot of people on Saturday. I really appreciate all your help. You definitely make life easier.. It was super great fun working with you guys.. I hope you guys have great fun working with me too.. :) I would like to apologies to each and everyone of you if i have unintentionally hurt you. Thank you again for the support you guys have given me. Keep in touch always.. And let's have fun!

Not forgetting, Thank you to Terry from Global Art, Hazel and Company from London English Academy, Pat from Scholastic and many others who have always help me.. especially during events and many more.. Is because of your patient and help, I was able to organize the events.. Thank you for everything from classes to events. Really appreciate all your help and time.

Although Play N Learn had already closed, but am sure all our memories will always be treasure and cherished in our hearts.. Let's always keep in touch and may our friendship continues and grows stronger. I would like to wish everyone Good Health and All the very best in your future undertakings. Good luck to all my part-timers who are still studying and am sure you guys will be fine! Study Hard and Have fun at the same time.. =)

Dato' Lee Chong Wei Won All England Against Lin Dan!

Congratulation Dato' Lee Chong Wei for winning the All England 2011... It was great to see u win against Lin Dan in straight game.. 21-17 and 21-17.. Hopefully you will be able to continue winning against Lin Dan.. =) You had make Malaysians and Penangnites proud!!! =) However, it was not a double joy for Malaysians as Koo Kien Kiet- Tan Boon Heong lost 21-15, 18-21, 18-21 to Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in an intense 62-minute All-England men’s doubles final in Birmingham yesterday. However, we are still proud that Lee Chong Wei won, and eventhough the doubles lost at least it is still a silver medal.. So congratulations!!! =)

Lee Chong Wei kept his title in Birmingham but this victory was probably even sweeter than his maiden gold at the Yonex All England. This time, he beat the best player of all time – Super Dan – in the final he led from start to finish.

It was clearly a show. Players entering with songs hitting the charts all over the world, with lighting effect, an audience ready for a great evening and a NIA Stadium filled with spectators eager to see the clash of the week between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan. This special match had been on everyone’s lips since the draws were released. Since Lee and Lin, the two arc rivals had been drawn on either side of the competition. Lee had warned that after winning his first title here, he was clearly going to enjoy the evening, not pressuring himself while Lin Dan had shown glimpses of weaknesses in the semi final, just before attempting to enter History and clinch a fifth title in the event.

If some “Jia You”s were shouted from time to time, the singing and dancing Malaysian colony way up in the stands made much more noise and had more opportunities to cheer for their hero: Lee Chong Wei was simply playing the perfect game while Lin Dan, in good form but not as incisive as usual, was struggling to put the shuttles down. Chong Wei, patient and relying on his incredible defence was banking on his stamina and great knowledge of his opponent.’s game. After more than 15 meetings, the Malaysian knew that the Chinese had to play his very best to beat him and that what he had seen from Lin this week could mean he would get a second consecutive title.

The first game was very close with great rallies, accurate net play, smart clears, big attacks but the Malaysian was able to come on top while Lin was obviously not happy with his speed – his usual giant killers from the back were often caught by the Malaysian. The rallies were tighter than the score showed when Chong Wei led 17-11, but the Malaysian had taken too big of a margin to lose the first game, which he pocketed 21-17. He led most of the second game, with one of two points advantage until Lin caught back at 17-17, and tried to accelerate the pace of the game, bringing excitement to the Chinese fans. But a few mistakes and a very solid play from Chong Wei saw the Malaysian come on top with a similar score in the second game, 21-17 . He fell on his knees and embraced his coaches before going to see Lin Dan already packing his stuff and getting a warm hug from his main opponent. The Chinese had the head down as he knew there was no solution for him against Chong Wei and was later to admit that he was not the best on court today.

“Chong Wei played very well and on my end, I have played too many matches at home for the Chinese league and in Germany then here. I just didn’t have the motivation or the will to fight more than I did” said Lin Dan. For Chong Wei, this victory may taste even sweeter than last year’s – then, the Malaysian had not beaten Lin Dan, a player he considers as the only one he can’t beat on cue.

“ I am very pleased to have beaten Lin Dan today. It is always special to beat him in any tournament. This All England title is something special to me after I won it last year for the first time. I will be attempting to win my third title next year. But before that, of course, I will try to win the World Championships here in England” he told the press after receiving a phone Call from the Prime Minister of Malaysia who had stayed up to watch the game back home.

Lee retains All-England title in classy fashion

PETALING JAYA: For the first time, Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei truly felt on top of the world.
Yesterday, Chong Wei showed who was the real boss on the court when he defeated his nemesis, Lin Dan of China, 21-17, 21-17 in a highly-charged 52-minute final to retain the All-England title.
It was a priceless win and an ecstatic Chong Wei slumped to his knees in sheer delight before rising to the thunderous applause of the fans at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
It was the first time that Chong Wei had beaten Lin Dan to win a major title and the record between the two archrivals now stands at 7-18.
With the win, too, Chong Wei reaffirmed his status as the world No. 1 and also hung on to the number one standing in the Super Series rankings.
And Chong Wei also became the first Malaysian to retain the All-England title since Eddy Choong pulled off the feat in 1956 and 1957.
But more importantly, the win yesterday showed that Chong Wei has the ability to come out of Lin Dan’s shadow and be a real challenger for the Olympic gold in London next year.
Lin Dan, gunning for a second consecutive Premier Super Series title after nailing the first in South Korea, got off to a smashing start but it was not too long before Chong Wei got into the groove.
Looking more confident and focused in his approach, Chong Wei piled up the pressure on the three-time world champion, often catching Lin Dan with his clever moves at the net and showing incredible defence to frustrate the Chinese.
They were tied at 8-8 and at one stage Lin Dan was affected by a bad line call and it allowed Chong Wei to pull away to 17-10.
But Lin Dan, who was ironically more interested in playing rallies than using his lethal attacking shots, fought back to 17-18. But that was as far as he went as Chong Wei snapped out of the spell to take the first game.
The second game was even tighter as both tried to outfox each other with their tight net shots and super fast counter attacks until they were tied at 17-17.
Instead of buckling under pressure like he used to before, a cool and composed Chong Wei romped home to take four points in a row to land himself a third title of the year after victories at the Super Series Masters Finals in Taiwan and Malaysia Open in January.
National coach Rashid Sidek hailed Chong Wei’s achievement as a big breakthrough.
“He played a superb game and was able to overcome the psychological barrier against Lin Dan,” he said in a telephone interview.
“He not only handle the challenge from Lin Dan well but he also executed excellent counter attacks to pressure Lin Dan. That to me is a big improvement.
“Today, Lin Dan was making most of the mistakes and he was unable to kill some of Chong Wei’s shots. Chong Wei, on the other hand, maintained a consistent pace.
“Chong Wei has always been criticised for winning the small tournaments. But this time, he defeated Lin Dan for a big one.”

WORLD No 1 Lee Chong Wei ground China's Olympic champion Lin Dan's hopes of a fifth All England men's singles crown into dust, triumphing in a pulsating final to retain his title in Birmingham yesterday.
The 28-year-old dropped to his knees and covered his face with his hands after clinching the final point in his 21-17, 21- 17 victory over Lin Dan for his eighth career victory over his rival to become the first Malaysian in 54 years to retain the All England title.

Chong Wei's key to yesterday's victory was his explosive start in both games, which the China shuttler failed to absorb in the 52-minute encounter.

The Penang-born began the match aggressively as it was the only way he had any hope of causing an upset.
It was tight as both players exchanged points before Chong Wei, raced ahead 11-9 before taking a healthy 18-12 lead.

But several unforced errors by Chong Wei allowed Lin Dan to reduce the deficit by a mere point but the Malaysian regained his intensity with a powerful smash to earn the final point.

There was little to separate both players in the second game but Chong Wei used his lethal smashes effectively and took a midway lead at 11-9.

Lin Dan kept digging deep and his efforts were rewarded as Chong Wei's focus started to waver, and the former world champion leveled at 17-17.

However, Chong Wei showed why he is such an exceptional performer as he regained his composure and secured the next four points to win the second game and the title.

It was Chong Wei's first victory, after two straight losses to Lin Dan, since his victory at last September's Japan Open final.

Chong Wei, who has held the World No 1 ranking since Sept, 2008, earned US$26,650 (RM79,800) for his efforts while Lin Dan received US$13,300 (RM40,440).

(TOKYO) — A ferocious tsunami spawned by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded slammed Japan's eastern coast Friday, sweeping away boats, cars, homes and people, as widespread fires burned out of control. Tsunami warnings blanketed the entire Pacific, as far away as South America, Canada, Alaska and the entire U.S. West Coast.

Authorities said at least 40 people were killed and 39 missing after the magnitude 8.9 offshore quake unleashed a 23-foot (7-meter) tsunami. The quake was followed by more than 20 aftershocks for hours, most of them of more than magnitude 6.0. The death toll was likely to continue climbing given the scale of the disaster.

Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coastline were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter.

"The earthquake has caused major damage in broad areas in northern Japan," Prime Minister Naoto Kan said at a news conference.

Japan issued a state of emergency at a nuclear power plant after its cooling system had a mechanical failure. Trouble was reported at two other nuclear plants as well, but there was no radiation leak at any.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said the measure at the nuclear power plant in Fukushima was a precaution and that the facility was not in immediate danger.

Even for a country used to earthquakes, this one was of horrific proportions because of the tsunami that crashed ashore, swallowing everything in its path as it surged several miles (kilometers) inland before retreating.

Large fishing boats and other sea vessels rode high waves into the cities, slamming against overpasses or scraping under them, snapping power lines along the way. Upturned and partially submerged vehicles were seen bobbing in the water. Ships anchored in ports crashed against each other.

The highways to the worst-hit coastal areas were severely damaged and communications, including telephone lines, were snapped. Train services in Tokyo and northeastern Japan were also suspended. Tokyo's Narita airport was closed indefinitely.

Jesse Johnson, a native of the U.S. state of Nevada, who lives in Chiba, north of Tokyo, was eating at a sushi restaurant with his wife when the quake hit.

"At first it didn't feel unusual, but then it went on and on. So I got myself and my wife under the table," he told The Associated Press. "I've lived in Japan for 10 years and I've never felt anything like this before. The aftershocks keep coming. It's gotten to the point where I don't know whether it's me shaking or an earthquake."

Waves of muddy waters flowed over farmland near the city of Sendai, carrying buildings, some on fire, inland as cars attempted to drive away. The apocalyptic images broadcast by Japanese TV networks appeared straight out of a Hollywood disaster movie.

Sendai airport, north of Tokyo, was inundated with cars, trucks, buses and thick mud deposited over its runways. Fires spread through a section of the city, public broadcaster NHK reported.

More than 300 houses were washed away in Ofunato City alone. Television footage showed mangled debris, uprooted trees, upturned cars and shattered timber littering streets.

The tsunami roared over embankments, washing anything in its path inland before reversing directions and carrying the cars, homes and other debris out to sea. Flames shot from some of the houses, probably because of burst gas pipes.

"Our initial assessment indicates that there has already been enormous damage," Edano said. "We will make maximum relief effort based on that assessment."

He said the Defense Ministry was sending troops to the quake-hit region. A utility aircraft and several helicopters were on the way.

A large fire erupted at the Cosmo oil refinery in Ichihara city in Chiba prefecture near Tokyo and was burning out of control with 100-foot (30 meter) -high flames whipping into the sky.

From the northeastern Japan's Miyagi prefecture, NHK showed footage of a large ship being swept away and ramming directly into a breakwater in Kesennuma city.

Also in Miyagi, a fire broke out in a turbine building of a nuclear power plant. Smoke was observed coming out of the building, which is separate from the plant's reactor, and the cause is under investigation, said Tohoku Electric Power Co. the company said.

A reactor area of a nearby plant was leaking water, the company said. But it was unclear if the leak was caused by tsunami water or something else. There were no reports of radioactive leaks at any of Japan's nuclear plants.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 2:46 p.m. quake was a magnitude 8.9, the biggest earthquake to hit Japan since officials began keeping records in the late 1800s, and one of the biggest ever recorded in the world.

A tsunami warning was extended to a number of Pacific, Southeast Asian and Latin American nations, including Japan, Russia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Chile. In the Philippines, authorities said they expect a 3-foot (1-meter) high tsunami.

The quake struck at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), about 80 miles (125 kilometers) off the eastern coast, the agency said. The area is 240 miles (380 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo.

In downtown Tokyo, large buildings shook violently and workers poured into the street for safety. TV footage showed a large building on fire and bellowing smoke in the Odaiba district of Tokyo. The tremor bent the upper tip of the iconic Tokyo Tower, a 1,093-foot (333-meter) steel structure inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

In central Tokyo, trains were stopped and passengers walked along the tracks to platforms. NHK said more than 4 million buildings were without power in Tokyo and its suburbs.

Large numbers of people waited at Tokyo's Shinjuku station, the world's busiest train station, for service to resume so they could go home. TV announcers urged workers not to leave their offices to prevent injuries in case of more strong aftershocks.

Osamu Akiya, 46, was working in Tokyo at his office in a trading company when the quake hit.

It sent bookshelves and computers crashing to the floor, and cracks appeared in the walls.

"I've been through many earthquakes, but I've never felt anything like this," he said. "I don't know if we'll be able to get home tonight."

Footage on NHK from their Sendai office showed employees stumbling around and books and papers crashing from desks. It also showed a glass shelter at a bus stop in Tokyo completely smashed by the quake and a weeping woman nearby being comforted by another woman.

Several quakes had hit the same region in recent days, including a 7.3 magnitude one on Wednesday that caused no damage.

Hiroshi Sato, a disaster management official in northern Iwate prefecture, said officials were having trouble getting an overall picture of the carnage.

"We don't even know the extent of damage. Roads were badly damaged and cut off as tsunami washed away debris, cars and many other things," he said.

A large section of the ceiling at the 1-year-old airport at Ibaraki, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo, fell to the floor with a powerful crash.

Dozens of fires were reported in northern prefectures of Fukushima, Sendai, Iwate and Ibaraki. Collapsed homes and landslides were also reported in Miyagi.

Japan's worst previous quake was in 1923 in Kanto, an 8.3-magnitude temblor that killed 143,000 people, according to USGS. A 7.2-magnitude quake in Kobe city in 1996 killed 6,400 people.

Japan lies on the "Ring of Fire" — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching around the Pacific where about 90 percent of the world's quakes occur, including the one that triggered the Dec. 26, 2004, Indian Ocean tsunami that killed an estimated 230,000 people in 12 nations. A magnitude-8.8 temblor that shook central Chile last February also generated a tsunami and killed 524 people.

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. "The young executives were Shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you.
I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one
I choose will be the next CEO."

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still
nothing.

By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however, he just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.

Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at
the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.

Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"

All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"

When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!

His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.

"How could he be the new CEO?" the others said.

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.

All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new
Chief Executive Officer!"

On Saturday January 29, 2011, an animal advocate was in an area working on rescuing a stray dog from the road when she found the dog whom we now know as Alice. Alice is a bully breed who has been living in a "box" for the past SIX YEARS. There was a wooden box, approx. 5'WX8'LX 4'tall. It was constructed of mostly wooden slats, with maybe an inch gap between some of the boards, and sheets of tin. The top was covered mostly by various sizes of tin and metal sheet, with a small section having field (chicken) wire over it. The door was made of metal/tin and was chained and locked when they first arrived.

What they saw was a very nervous, very apprehensive female Bulldog. She was beautiful, chocolate brown in color, and looked somewhat plump. It was evident that she had had a litter or two...or more...of puppies in her time. The dog did bark and go on the defensive when she first saw them. She had been inside a small plastic box that served as a "dog house" that was attached to one end of the shed. The floor was dirt at one time, but was now covered in a very thick layer of dog feces and a nasty sludge. They saw very runny poop on the ground and on the interior "walls". They could tell that the inside had probably never been cleaned or sanitized. Apparently, all the years of feces had become packed into the dirt by the dog walking on top of it all. The stench was sickening.

They had taken three large dog biscuits with them. When offered to her, the dog stopped her barking and gently took the first from my fingers, then retreated into her "doghouse" portion of her living quarters. When she finished eating the first, she returned to get the second biscuit, not barking when she returned. She eventually came back and got the third treat, took it into her "doghouse" and just laid inside there and looked at them, saving the biscuit for later.

They had returned to the roadside to discuss what could be done. It was then that an elderly African-American man arrived home. They introduced ourselves and explained that we were not there to cause him any problems, but only to check up on the dog in the box. After talking for a while, "Ben" told them that the dog belonged to his son-in-law, who had brought the dog out there to live because "it's a very mean dog". In fact, we were told, that if the dog was running loose while we were there, she most likely would have bitten us. She was, by this man's account, "one of them very mean dogs" (meaning, Bulldog) and that's why he had her in the "kennel" he had built.

They offered to bring the man some dog food and asked if they could get him a chain linked kennel for the dog. While they were all talking, one of the rescuer's mom happened to drive past. The mother just so happen to have some dry dog food with her and offered some to them to give to Ben. They asked if they could feed the dog for him, and he allowed them to do so. When they showed Ben what was inside the bag she had, Ben's words were "I ain't never gave that dog no pellets before". They asked what he fed her and Ben said mostly bread, an occasional honey bun and a few scraps. This dog had never had real dog food in her life. It was then that they asked how long he had had the dog, and Ben told them "about 6 years, since she was a pup". We were flabbergasted! This girl, who Ben also told us he had never even named, had been living this way for nearly 6 years!!! Six years living on basically bread and water, no vaccines, no vet care of any sort.

When they went to pull the food bowl, an inch thick rectangular cake pan, from inside the kennel, they had to pry it loose from the sludge that encased it. The pan was filled with dog feces and dirt from inside the shelter. They cleaned it best they could and filled it with dog food. When this dog saw it, she immediately started eating! But, she didn't finish all the food, apparently never having a full and proper portion of food to eat. They asked if they could also freshen her water, and that's when Ben told us that the rope tied to the 5 gal bucket (see the picture) was there so "when she turned it over, I can get it back up". Apparently, Ben would not ever go into the shelter due to being afraid of the dog, after all, she was "very mean". Ben did open the door for them to get the bucket out, and they cautiously reached inside to get the bucket, not knowing if they were about to get bitten or attacked by this "very mean" dog. They got the bucket out without incident and went to clean the inch thick layer of dirt from the bottom of it and the layer of algae from off the inside walls of it. When they returned with fresh, clean water, the other rescuer was gently rubbing the dog's ears through the slats! This "very mean" dog was leaning on the inside walls, allowing a eprson to love on her!!! They was even allowed, by the dog, to rub and pet her. This dog was so open to human contact, something she apparently had experienced very little of over the years. They never saw any aggression from this beautiful dog. ****UPDATE PER RESCUE***

During a follow up visit it was determined that the owner of the "dog in the box" is actually Ben's daughter, who provided purchase papers for whom we now know as Alice. The owner saw no problem with how Alice was being cared for and has even claimed that the kennels had been routinely cleaned. Obviously, the photos show different. With an officer present, who was also appalled at the conditions, Southern Comfort Rescue expressed that these were horrible circumstances for a living breathing creature to endure. They also offered veterinary care assitance and housing assitance for Alice. These were declined by the "outraged" owner. Upon further follow up, it has been determined that Alice is now in a chain link kennel with a dog house, although no bedding, nor fresh food or water were present. She has also seen a vet who dewormed and administered a rabies vaccine, but no phsyical exam was proven to be performed nor any routine tests for illnesses that run rampant in the area. The food dish was there, overturned.

Southern Comfort is fighting for Alice's relinquishment because of the suffering she has endured over the six years before they intervened. Also the chances of the care declining again are high if there isn't regular follow up. The court appearance was not favorable. No one seemed to feel that this dog was being treated cruelly, including the animal control officer saying he just throws his dogs food on the dirt too. If something isn't done, Alice will merely stay in this state for the remainder of her life. We need to campaign to get her released to the rescue at a minimum. Alice and Southern Comfort need our help and support now more than ever! Sign this petition, write letters, send faxes, whatever you have to do! Please continue your support. Hi guys,

Am finally back with a new post. I have been busy recently thus lack of updates. Am currently working as a volunteer in one of the Non Government Organization.. Hehehe.. Sometimes is good to do social work and give something back to the society... Everyone needs a second chance rite.. Hehehe.. and i am also gaining new experiences... So although is kinda tiring but at the same time you feel good too.. =) Besides that, am also coming out with some ideas to do and i hope i will be able to do it.. i'll update about it once everything is settled.. KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- A rule, which will make it compulsory for rear seat passengers to use seat belts, is applicable only to private vehicles, Transport Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat said Saturday.

As such, he said, public transports such as taxis and buses would be exempted from the ruling, which would take effect in September.

"However, since passenger safety is our main concern, we will conduct a study on whether to make the ruling compulsory for public transport as well," he told reporters after attending the Kampung Pandan neighbourhood watch orientation programme here.

Ong also said that the rule was only for vehicles registered after January 1, 1995.

"However, there are certain model of cars which have no rear seat belts. We will give the owner ample time to install them," he said.

The public would be given three months, beginning June to September, to get used to wearing the rear safety belts, after which summonses would be issued to those who failed to comply with the ruling, he said.

"If you're already angry or frustrated, you become emotionally flooded and unable to think clearly." Using heart rate andblood pressure as measures of stress, the researchers found that people strained the least and performed the best when in the company of their cat or dog. While spending time with a friend or spouse can be a great way to relax, sidle up to your pet when the pressure's on.

"We've long thought that talking about problems is always better, but there's also evidence suggesting that this coping style doesn't work for everybody," explains Karin Coifman, PhD, an assistant professor of clinical psychology at Kent State University. Dr. Coifman and colleagues looked at how people whose spouse or child had just died coped with their loss. They learned that many of the subjects who avoided thinking or talking about their sadness—a style psychologists call repressive coping—had fewer short-term health problems, such as sore throats, diarrhea, and shortness of breath, as well as a lower incidence of long-term psychological problems. What's more, they returned to their everyday lives more quickly than those who dwelled upon their grief.

"There's a lot to be said for getting on with the business of living," says Dr. Coifman. "People who talk endlessly about their problems are actually the ones at greater risk of depression." In fact, researchers at the University of Missouri, Columbia, found that participants who repeatedly expressed their sadness or disappointment were more likely to develop depression and anxiety. That doesn't mean you should just suck it up when something bad happens. While you shouldn't deny yourself natural grieving moments, learning to direct your attention away from the stressor is a powerful coping mechanism. So after experiencing that initial burst of tears, turn to something positive—check in on a friend or rearrange your furniture. It's an important skill to look beyond the bad—we wouldn't survive as a species otherwise, Dr. Coifman adds.

I just thought to let know what my doctor told me recently. I don't think she was lying and neither am I, so please pass this on to your friends. Her clinic is in SS2 and you know how congested that place is.

One morning a few months ago in broad daylight, a girl was getting into her car when a few men approached her with what looked like a torchlight. Quite harmless looking. They pressed the "torchlight" into her back and immediately she went limp and very pale. So she wouldn't be able to fight back, they slashed her thigh with a parang and sped away in her car.

There were many people around and they quickly took her to the nearest clinic which was my doctor's clinic. There were two doctors at that time and they managed to stitch up her wound but the girl remained pulse-less and still pale as paper. No pulse, no BP (blood pressure). Just like dead.

My doctors were confused as to how one wound on the thigh made the girl almost like dead? They managed to revive her and save her life.

After some checking around, the doctors found out what actually happened was that the girl was made unconscious not by a torchlight but actually a high voltage weapon. I forgot how many watts she mentioned. 1000? Anyway, it was high enough to kill a person by electrocution.

It seems this weapon is from China. It's not rampant in Malaysia...yet; but with this thing, a person can rob, rape, kill, kidnap, and practically do anything to you. My doctor said that if the girl weren't taken to the clinic immediately she would have died because there was no pulse on her.

So please just beware of your surroundings, if anybody is lurking around with a torchlight-thingy and approaches you, just scream or run away. Better to be embarrassed than ZAPPED and fried, right? Take care.
