Since the last installment, we’ve been (almost) given the gift of a four-team playoff postseason to begin in a couple of years. Since that still-not-entirely-final announcement, the discussion has mostly shifted to how the four teams should be chosen, a question that–despite sanctimonious column after sanctimonious column to the contrary–has no right answer. Everyone has a good point in this argument, and whatever is decided will still result in at least some amount of controversy. But it will be a slightly better brand of controversy than what we have now, and that’s a good start.

But perhaps doing more to end that controversy would be the long-theorized and even longer-overdue secession of the top conferences from the NCAA. This move–or at the very least, the creation of a new division within the current structure–would finally acknowledge the obvious: Utah State, Tulane and Buffalo are not on the same level as USC, LSU and Ohio State.

With the most recent realignment moves, the so-called “Big Six” conferences will house 78 programs by 2015 when Navy begins play in the Big East. The remaining 42 (not counting a handful of announced FCS upgrades) belong to the mid-majors. Of those 42, exactly zero are in the top 25 in winning percentage for the past ten years (www.stassen.com). Every mid-major that would have been in that category has already been snatched up by a Big Sixer (Boise State, TCU, Utah) or opted for independence (BYU), which essentially gives them the same competitive benefits that Notre Dame enjoys. Just one has appeared in a BCS bowl and that’s Hawai’i, the remaining mid-major with the highest winning percentage in the last decade.

To put it bluntly, they wouldn’t be missed.

Further, I would suggest tossing the Big East into that pool as well. Of the bottom 15 teams from Big Six leagues on that 10-year list, four are Big East teams (all new additions even). Each of the other conferences has two, and Army is the lone independent to rank that low. If the separation were to finally occur, I have no doubt that Boise, Louisville, Cincy, Navy, USF, Houston, UConn and Rutgers could find homes in the Big Five or be successful as independents. But ultimately, as long as Boise and Navy can, the rest are expendable.

From here we can finally get to a playoff that works, without getting too out of hand for you crybabies that don’t want a two-month 64-team extravaganza of football awesomeness. With five conferences of sizes that will probably range from 12 to 16 teams and a few independents, a four-team playoff gets a little awkward. You’re either leaving one conference champ out entirely or subjecting the whole thing to another goofy mishmash of polls and computer formulas. Neither of those options will be acceptable at this point. The only realistic answers are either an 8-team playoff (5 champs + 3 at-large) or a 5 team all-champs playoff where some seeding system (even if it’s just W/L record) is used so that #4 and #5 play a sort-of play-in game to the four team field. (This second method is still a little clunky, as there would need to be some sort of accommodation for independents, perhaps an optional second “play-in” if an independent team meets inclusion criteria.)

And let’s not forget the advantages the separation would give to those mid-major conferences left behind. I imagine there would be further expansion within that level by elevating even more successful FCS programs. Undoubtedly there would be a new playoff created for whatever this level is eventually called (FCS-A?). Finally these teams will be able to start working toward actually winning national championships instead of being satisfied with shameless early-season cash-in beatdown road trips and appearances in no-respect joke bowls with marginal-at-best benefits.

Dominoes is the best way to describe the way recruiting is going since Coach Meyer took over as the head coach at The Ohio State University. With each passing day it seems a new domino falls into place and what we seem to be ending up with is the perfect domino trail to success. This latest recruit may be the biggest domino yet. The ripple effects of this will most likely be felt later in the week as well when another OSU lean is set to commit to his school of choice.

Joey Bosa is a 6’5″ 260 lbs 5 star DE from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. According to Scouts Joey Bosa is the 2nd best DE prospect in the country. Rivals also lists him as the 2nd best DE in the land. 247spots has him as the 24th best overall prospect in the country. Joey Bosa is also a member of the ESPN150 and is listed as the 41st best recruit in the country. I am not sure what there is to say about Joey that hasn’t been said 1000 times. He is big and fast and strong and smart. He has a nose for the ball and the ability to get to it. He is a big time baller and a leader on the field and off of it. He is everything Coach Meyer and Buckeye Nation want and need. If you have any doubts watch the highlight reel below and enjoy what is going to be a star for years to come.

Coach Meyer has focused heavily on DL and LBs and with this newest recruit he got one that can play both or either. To say that Coach Meyer believes defense wins championships would be an understatement. To say he strongly believes that a great DL wins games would be spot on.

Lewis Neal is a 6’2″ 235 lbs 3 star DE/LB from Wilson, North Carolina. Rivals list Neal as the 16th best DE in the country. Scouts has him listed as the 28th best LineBacker in the country. 247sports and ESPN both have him as high 3 stars. Lewis Neal brings a lot to the table in his ability to play multiple positions and in multiple schemes. As we watch recruiting it is becoming more and more clear that Coach Meyer intends to go to a 5-2 base defense and get after the QB. Lewis Neal hasn’t been scouted much by the recruiting services but new Asst. Coach Everett Withers knows him well from his days at UNC. Watch the highlight tape below to see why OSU is so excited about this recruit.

So here is how my day went yesterday. Got up at 5 AM drove 4 hours in a car with the wife and 2 kids. Sat on 315 for an hour. Parked in a lot at least 2 miles away from the shoe walked to the stadium sat in 40 degree temperatures with blowing winds and rain for 3 hours. Walked back to the car 2 miles and sat in traffic for an hour.

WAS THE BEST TIME I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME….. Got to hang out with some 81k+ people who just like me love OSU and knows what it means to be a Buckeye. By now most of you have heard about other schools fan bases and how many of them showed up to their games including TTUN. Let’s just say Buckeye Nation is without a doubt the best fans in the world. This show of love from the fans had a lasting effect on one recruit (at least expect more to commit today and this week).

Alex Anzalone is a 6’3″ 225 lbs 4 star Linebacker from Reading, PA. According to 247sports Alex is the 5th best OLB in the country and the 96th best recruit overall. He is also a ESPN150 recruit coming in as the 65th best recruit in the nation. Scouts has him as the 10th best OLB in the country. Alex has shown the ability to be a star at the next level and will help continue the real LBU that OSU has become. He has great speed and strength and will be a force at OSU. Coach Meyer beat out the likes of Alabama and Florida and Notre Dame and PSU and TTUN to get this recruit and it just adds to an already impressive class that will just keep growing as more people commit going forward. Take some time and watch the highlight reel below to see what a huge get this was for OSU.

So Thad Matta had an interesting recruiting season this year for most of the year he only had on scholarship to offer that being of his Sr. Will Buford who has graduated and is moving on to the NBA draft. Then Jared Sullinger declared for the draft giving him 2 schollies to offer. Things got even more hectic from there. JD Weatherspoon and Jordan Sibert decided it was in their best interest to get a fresh start and transfer. These decisions ended up giving Coach Matta 4 schollies to offer but it is extremely late in the process. Yesterday Coach Matta filled one of those schollies and also filled a position of need.

Amedeo Della Valle is a 6’5″ 185 lbs 3 star Shooting Guard from Las Vegas, Nevada via Italy. According to Scouts Amedeo is listed as the 29th best SG in the nation in this years class. Rivals also has him listed a 3 star. Amedeo comes to OSU from National High School powerhouse Findlay Prep where he honed his skills as a 3 point specialist. He is a work in progress but with his size and speed and ability to hit jump shots from anywhere on the floor he fills a need for OSU that they so dearly have missed since Jon Diebler left last year. A 3 point specialist and a guy who can hit it consistently on spot up shots. With the other 3 openings on the team Matta is chasing a few transfers and high profile recruits but he may end up with a short bench next year and have more options for 2013. We will know more in the coming weeks. In the mean time check out the highlight tape below of Amedeo. For those of us with receding or completely disappearing hair lines notice his Side Show Bob hairdo and weep silently.

81,112 people poured into a cold and rainy Ohio Stadium Saturday afternoon to watch the Urban Meyer era begin. Scarlet edged out Gray 20-14 lead by Braxton Miller, Ryan Shazier and Michael Thomas.

This was officially the first time Buckeye fans and the rest of the college football world got to see Urban Meyers offense, though it was a shell of it’s actual self. This, like many other spring games before it was essentially a passing scrimmage. There were 36 rushing plays (though many of those were QB runs/sacks) compared to 57 pass attempts.

Both OSU offensive units ran out of the shotgun all day and used a no huddle, fast paced offense. One thing that was missing from the offense was the zone read option, speed option and all the running plays off of those looks. This was primarily because of the shortened game format and the running clock in the 2nd half. It was also because neither QB was “live.” Whenever anyone got within 11 miles of Braxton Miller the play was blown dead. This really limited what both QB’s could do, though their passing numbers didn’t take a hit. Kenny Guiton who is the clear backup for Miller was 17 or 26 for 191 yards with a TD pass and short TD run. Miller was 24-31 for 258 yards. Both QB’s threw INT’s. Guitons INT came in the 4th quarter in the redone after he stared down his WR.

What stood out:

Before the game Meyer surprised everyone by gathering both teams at the 50 yard line. They formed a tight circle and Meyer picked John Simon from Gray and Jack Mewhort to go at one another in an Oklahoma drill. Meyer matched up players from each team over and over again finally ending with Guiton vs. Miller. Guiton got the better of Miller, sending the Gray team into a frenzy. The crowd absolutely LOVED it!

Braxton Miller:

Miller seemed to be far more comfortable throwing the football compared to last year. Frankly, he is light years ahead of where he was last year. Miller was very accurate today, hitting 77% of his passes. He threw a tight spiral, something he struggled with last year and did so with good velocity. Miller wasn’t perfect as he still seems to need to work a bit on his touch. His interception came on a bullet he overthrew intended for Nick Vannett. Other than the INT there were a few forced balls but all in all he looked outstanding.

Ryan Shazier:

Ryan Shazier is a bad, bad man. This sophomore OLBer has All American written all over him. He had several big hits, a sack and a key 4 down stop tackling Brionte Dunn in the backfield. He passes the look test, the play test and the holy **** test. All he does is make plays each and every game and this game was no different.

Michael Thomas:

The surprise of the day came from true freshman Michael Thomas who caught 12 passes for 131 yards. He made a big play in the 2nd half after catching a pass in the flat from Miller on a roll out and his run after the catch set up Scarlet with a 1st and goal. Thomas is definitely one to watch come fall practice.

One thing I was very disappointed in was seeing Braxton Miller play without any of the skill players he will be playing with in the fall. Due to the format of the game the teams were drafted the Thursday before hand and Miller was left without Jake Stoneburner, Philly Brown and Devin Smith. Miller basically had 2nd and 3rd team guys to work with and still performed well. I would have loved to see Miller with more of the 1st unit skill position players.

There is definitely a new sheriff in town and a new feel to how things are done. Dare I say it…there is a swagger about this team. It comes from the top and trickles down. Call it trickle down swagger. Reagan would approve. From the Oklahoma drill to start the game to the fast paced no huddle offense to the constant challenges Meyer puts on his players…this is not your grandpa’s Model T Buckeyes. This is a 21st century, sleek Ferrari that is ready to pull up along side Big Ten competition and blow it’s doors off.

Dear rest of the Big Ten…good luck. This is coming for you:

Welcome to Thursdays with Slyvester (and el Kaiser). It’s sort of like Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays with Slyvester (and Fridays, too). Basically, it’s when I get bored at work, open Microsoft Communicator and begin to bother SYR with whatever is on my mind. Sometimes we talk Buckeyes, sometimes it’s video games and Reality TV, and sometimes we share.

This time, however, SYR was asked to provide a contribution to the Buckeye Blogging Network’s Spring Game Preview. (I had told them earlier I was a little too busy to help out (busted!)). So what follows is a stream of conscious between the two of us. (You may notice I have a touch of the ADD and tend to go off-topic). It’s a bit long, so hit the jump for the full conversation

What will be most different this year than last? (Could be personnel, could be scheme)

What are you excited to see at each position? What are you concerned about?

Who will stand out? Who’s a "rookie" you’re keeping your eyes on?

I’m hearing big things about Michael Bennett

Yeah

Pittman?

And basically every incoming freshman could see time

John Simon will win the Big Ten Defesnive Player of the Year

You can run and TELL THAT.

So right now looks like the starters are: John Simon, Jonathan Hankins, Garret Goebel, and Adam Bellamy. I forgot about Garrett Goebel

Our DL may play 15 guys this year sheesh

Nearly forgot they moved Chris Carter to DL, too. Lol

They did?

I did not know that

Yep

Apparently he didn’t fit the body style for OL

And Vrabel likes his nastiness for DT

Well, he definitely likes to "get nasty" if you know what I mean

Darryl Baldwin, Adam Bellamy, Chase Farris, Garrett Goebel, Joel Hale, Big Hank, Kenny Hayes, Steve Miller, JT Moore, Se’Von Pittman, John Simon, Nate Williams, Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington, Tommy Schutt… That’s about all that I can see who could see playing time.

Holy crap that is 15

Dang I forgot about Steve Miller, too.

He was a huge recruit

Yeah he will see a lot of time

There is nothing wierder then when your dog is having nightmares

lol

He’s dreaming that Obama wants to eat him

hahaha

https://twitter.com/#!/markpantoni/status/192966129835188225/photo/1

NICE

Too bad it’s not when he was a Patriot

Agreed

It is a powerful point though

Can I just say how pumped I am for the Avengers movie?

Agree 100000%

The line where Iron Man is talking to Loki is the best

"I have an army."

"We have a Hulk"

Me and Eli love that part lol

Today is national high five day

So air-IM-high five

Well then a high 5 to you

UGGGHHH!! Of course Communicator dies at the worst possible time and I lost everything from the last 20 minutes

So let’s try this again

hahaha

So let’s start with the starters: John Simon

So I live next door to John Simon’s cousin which pretty much makes me the most knowledgeable person in the world on him.

Clearly

You really do? That’s pretty cool. Of course, there’s this:

http://photo.the-ozone.net/details.aspx?SeasonID=11&SportID=4&CollegeID=0&PhotographerID=0&SortType=0&EventTypeID=0&SportEventID=bdf21c26-7c5e-447b-a817-6619b5d0f5ac&TeamMemberID=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&PhotoNumber=55&ReturnRowCount=12&ReturnPageNumber=0

Ladies…

UGH what is wrong with me?

He’s surrounded by pretty girls and the first place my eyes look is at his package.

Then I look over the rest of his physique before I even notice the girls he’s standing with.

There is no doubt in my mind Simon will be B1G DPOY and an All-American.

I say he’s the single biggest reason we beat Wisky last year.

I think the only thing Simon needs to have a breakout year is consistency from his line mates

Yep. He can pretty much plan on being double teamed all season long

Not if we get better play from people like Nate Williams and Big Hank

Well, that’s the hope. But, if he’s going one-on-one, he’s winning that battle.

Against anyone in the country.

What if John Simon had to block John Simon?

With the exercise and strength program they have now he will only get better.

My neighbor told me when you walk in the Simon house they have a weight room in their living room, not a couch and TV.

Dude is already at like 2% body fat

hahah that’s awesome

John Simon is the key to our defense. If he gets pressure and avoids getting double teamed we will win a lot of games.

agreed

Do you think he’ll play a lot of DE?

Or, with all the freshmen coming in, he’ll slide back over to tackle?

What’s our defensive front going to even look like?

I think he will be strictly DE this year.

Can’t imagine using him at DT with his speed and rushing ability from the outside.

True

That should eliminate a lot of the double teams

He will get body checked by TEs and RBs though.

Hey, it’s their funeral.

No one can handle him one on one.

Hopefully Simon will get a huge sack on Denard Robinson and while he is still on the ground, he ties his shoes for him.

And that’s all I got to say about The Beast.

Ok, so, Jonathan Hankins. He so doesn’t seem like he’s a “Jonathan”.

I would like to see how Hankins looks right now.

I’d like to see what he eats for breakfast.

I ate half a box of Cookie Crisp once

Half boxes are for DBs

The thing that amazes me most about Big Hank is his athletic ability.

Do you think he could finish off a jar of Nutella?

Like that guy on Youtube?

That was impressive. Two spoonfuls of that stuff I have to undo the button on my pants.

I think he gargles with a jar of Nutella

hahah

Yeah, it’s been interesting to see him go from a bowl full of jelly to where he’s at now. That physique has come a long way, baby.

When I look at Big Hank, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t World Class Athlete.

He doesn’t look imposing but he can move.

Exactly

His motor never seems to run out of gas.

Remember when we saw Adrian Clayborn of Iowa on his knees late in the 4th quarter in that close game against the Buckeyes?

Well, you consume 18000 calories

See if you run out of gas.

He has speed and strength and a relentlessness to him that is hard to find in a guy with his body style. And by style I mean Big Bass Brothers style.

If he is able to clog up the middle and get off blocks OSU will be hard to run on up the middle.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hbApfZDWZHY/T5AeTwBslaI/AAAAAAAAQSM/6nOKevPdlWg/s1600/inattentional+blindness.jpg

How many red balls are there?

Quick

Now close the window

Quickly!!

Close it!

NOW!

Five

Did you close it?

Describe what you saw.

A man with red balls floating all around him.

Anything interesting about that man?

He was Indian.

Hahaha, that definitely is interesting

Anything else?

Shirtless

That’s all I remember. Lots of chest hair.

Was there something I missed?

You noticed he was shirtless? What is wrong with you?

Yeah, go look at it again.

Look at his hands.

lol 12 fingers

What’s this got to do with Big Hank?

Nothing. But just try to imagine Hankins with 12 fingers.

You know who had big hands? Alonzo Spellman. That dude had freakishly large hands.

So did the lady who taught my CMOS layout and design class at Ohio State.

Have big hands? Have we got a place for you at the Ohio State University!

lol

I just came across that, I had to share it.

We can get back to the DL now.

Anything else we should know about Hank?

I assume Guiton and Miller will be in black jerseys on Saturday?

Do you think Hankins or Simon will be able to control themselves?

They clearly hate quarterbacks.

There is no touching of QBs

And few, if any, QB runs

Meyer said he wants to see how they look throwing.

Right

I believe his exact words were, "you’ll see a lot of throwing."

I am geeked to see a glimpse of what our offense will look like

"…but not sure if you’ll see a lot of catching."

lol true

Ok, moving on to Nate Williams.

Do you think he will get his starting spot back during summer practice?

Nate is a tough call seeing how he hasn’t played in a year and is out all spring.

Agreed. So he’s out for the spring game?

Yeah, he’s not playing in the spring game.

I think he is due a chance to start, though.

He is supposed to start running this spring and be full go for start of summer practice.

What I remember of Nate Williams is he is relentless and fast but small.

OSU lists him at 6’3" and 249 lbs

Who will be starting then at DE if Williams is out?

Stevie “Guitar” Miller?

Miller and JT Moore have had most of the snaps with 1st team

Well, as far as Williams is concerned, regardless of whether he starts or not, he’s getting plenty of playing time.

He’s always been a guy I’ve never understood.

Agreed

He gets the nod over players I thought would have been better than him.

He is too big for LB and too small for DL.

But he’s played since he was a freshman and gotten consistent pressure and penetration.

He is a “hybrid” defensive lineman for sure.

He is able to use his smaller size to avoid being blocked and his speed to close in on the QBs.

But you will never hear anyone say, “look at his great technique.”

He isn’t a traditional 3 technique DL

Like I said, very unorthodox.

He is a guy who plays very well in college but those skills wont translate to the NFL, sadly.

Yeah we’ll see. Goebel?

I really like Garrett Goebel. He’s like that fourth guy on those lines back in the day with Vrabel, Finkes and Fickell. The guy you can never remember his name.

You don’t remember he’s there, but always comes up big right when you need him.

Yes, exactly that guy.

6’4" and 285 lbs… He is a hole filler.

You tell him to go out there and plug a hole period.

“Hey, you, you there. Number 53.”

“Go get in people’s way. No i don’t care if you make a tackle. That’s what Grant and Shazier are for.”

“Just make someone’s offensive line coach tear his hair out. You get a helmet sticker every time their coach throws his hat on the ground.”

He is the kind of guy who won’t get any accolades or attention but will play DL in the NFL for 15 years.

Or, he’ll get addicted to video games and waste two years of his life away

COUGH Quinn Pitcock COUGH

He is officially listed as the starting Nose Tackle.

If I told you six months ago that the DL would be 15 deep in 2012 would you believe it?

Six months ago we were in the pits of despair.

I would probably just cry if you asked me about the 2012 defensive line.

Crap. I wonder if I forgot anyone else?

I don’t know if Pittman plays this year.

He is injured right now and out for the spring game.

Urban said no one will red shirt, but I think Pittman and Schutt might.

hmmmm

So Urban has been on the job three months and you’re already doubting his word.

I guess I shouldn’t.

YOU’RE DANG RIGHT YOU SHOULDN’T.

I SHOULDN’T BE YOUR FRIEND RIGHT NOW.

So, to answer some of those questions. What do you think will be different?

The biggest difference from last year in my opinion is depth and talent.

Yeah. We need to be able to stop the run. We got shredded too much last year.

Thinking about the Penn State game makes me want to puke.

The lack of depth last year meant our guys were tired and the lack of offense didn’t help either.

If those two things are fixed this year will be a 10 win season, easily.

Yeah, I can see that.

Who are you looking forward to see play that probably won’t start?

It has to be either Noah Spence or Adolphus Washington.

Those two guys are men already and highly recruited. They are game changer defensive ends.

So what makes you say those guys are game changers?

They are two of the highest rated recruits Ohio State has ever gotten at the defensive end position.

Remember Spence was ranked the 4th best recruit in the nation and both were highly coveted 5 stars.

Having seen both them play in an All Star game against the best in their class they both dominated big time.

If these guys live up to potential… Sky’s the limit.

I hope so.

So i think we covered most of this. Anything else we missed? Anyone else to discuss?

I don’t think so.

There are so many who will see playing time it is hard to cover everyone.

Alright, well I better wrap this up and go do my real job for a few minutes. This defensive line is going to be amazing and could go down in history as one of the best.

I can’t wait!

So far this years class seems to be defensive minded but with the news today OSU has hit the offensive side of the ball hard getting the QB they so desperately needed and wanted.

J.T. Barrett is a 6’2″ 205 lb 4 star Dual-Threat QB from Wichita Falls, Texas. According to 247sports Barrett is the no. 1 ranked Dual-Threat QB and the no. 37 overall best recruit in the nation. Rivals has him listed as the 134th best prospect and Scouts has him as the 7th best QB in the country. JT being a dual-threat QB will fit in perfectly in the Coach Meyer spread offense. He is the perfect combination of thrower and runner. He has the accuracy and the speed to confuse defenses. At the same time he is a natural leader who will command the offense and make everyone around him better. This is a huge pick up for Coach Meyer and his staff. You can see his highlight reel below.

What a great weekend for Buckeye Nation! Although I didn’t have the privilege of being in attendance, all signs point to the fact that Saturday’s open practice with the students was a tremendous success!! This is one of many great ideas Coach Meyer and his staff have put together in the process of giving the look of Ohio State football a facelift. This “rebranding” is something I would like to talk about.

Being in marketing, I sometimes get caught up in commercials and magazine articles as I dissect the target audience and the intention behind the messaging. Although the refurbishing of the Ohio State image is not a commercial, nor a magazine article, I have taken notice to several things this new coaching staff has put into place…and for good reason. After everything that’s happened to this program over the past year or so, the most important thing any new coach could do is demonstrate that OSU is still the best place to get your education, develop as a young man and play on a perennial powerhouse football team. Head Coach Urban Meyer and his staff have meticulously done that since day one.

Take, for example, the official Ohio State website. Even though they had created this new look prior to Coach Meyer taking over the helm, the new way in which they highlight news, add photos and video and portray the “champions” of Ohio State is straight from the Urban Meyer playbook. The way that all of the coaches seemingly use the media in terms of interviews, social media, videos and news reporters is completely different than we’ve seen before and portrays the transparency Coach Meyer promised to have on the day he was hired. Ohio State has also approved the $7 million purchase of a new scoreboard and high definition video monitor, sound system and video ribbons that will circle part of the stadium. If you’ve been to a game in the last decade, you’ll know that this was sorely needed and will benefit everyone that attends future games as well as be impressive to future recruits. That was followed up by this past weekend’s open practice where the students at OSU were given full access to the team as well as a tour of the beloved Ohio Stadium. Word is also out that Coach Meyer is bringing his wildly successful “Friday Night Lights” up from Gainesville to Columbus. Anyone who has followed football recruiting knows how successful Meyer was in attracting the top high school talent each summer to the bright lights of the Swamp. And I’m sure this is just the beginning of big things we will be seeing out of the “Mecca” of college football.

Now, I realize that some stories have come out recently that portray Coach Meyer in very poor light. I refuse to give those articles any more publicity than they have already gotten. Personally, I think it’s a combination of a sore Florida fan base and the ever-present media hatred for Ohio State that continues to cause these things. Sometimes I wish these reporters and “snitches” would look themselves in the mirror and think about their own faults and mistakes before trying to irresponsibly destroy the lives of others…but that’s just me. Regardless of the reasoning behind the stories and whether there is any truth to them or not, the bottom line is: People are people. EVERYONE makes mistakes…me, you, Matt Hayes, George Dorhmann, Urban Meyer and Jim Tressell. We’ve seen it before, we’ll see it again. I have no doubt that the perfect coach for Ohio State University’s football team is Urban Meyer. He has my full support and Buckeye love and as Buckeye fans, I’m sure he has yours, too.

The present and future is very bright at Ohio State. We have arguably the best coach in college football, one of the best assistant coaching staffs, the best and largest fan base of any football team, a renovated ‘Shoe on the way and promise of continued football dominance in the days ahead. I can’t wait to see this team play in the fall, but for now, I’ll take the Spring Game this Saturday! Go Bucks!!
