Edmund A. Wentz, 93, of Sun City passed away May 18, 2013. Born in Streeter, North Dakota, he served in the US Army during WW II. A Banker, he retired to Sun City in 1995 from Minnesota. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly; daughters Sandra (Buzz) Argent, Jodi (Jeff) Dehn and Belinda (Grady) Anderson; brothers Ray (Lois) Wentz and LeRoy (Velma) Wentz; a sister LoEtta Feigert. 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive. 88, of Sun City, Arizona passed away May 9, 2013. Mrs. Volberding was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa. An 18 year resident of Sun City she was preceded in death by her husband James R. “Jim” Volberding in 2006. Survivors include her son Jim Volberding, Jr. and daughters Jane Pierce and Ann Young. 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City, Arizona on April 10, 2013. Beatrice was born in West Bend, Wisconsin. She was the ninth child in a family of twelve. She married Walter Lund in 1945. Beatrice and Walter resided in Seattle, WA for numerous years, and also resided in southern California during the early part of their marriage. Walter and Beatrice had four children. Many people benefited in the Seattle area due to Beatrice’s generous donations over the years to the Puget Sound Blood Center. In Seattle, Beatrice volunteered at Denny Jr. High as a nurse’s aide. Beatrice was an excellent nurse’s aide and enjoyed her volunteer work there. Her involvement (at the state capital) was instrumental in the implementation of scoliosis screening across all junior high schools in Washington state. Beatrice was a devoted wife, caring mother and fun-loving grandmother. She is survived by husband Walter and her daughters Diana Oberti and Deborah Lund and grandchildren Darren Wright, Jeffrey Jasper and Angela Oberti. She is also survived by sisters Carol Becker and Judith Puestow-Pelka. Beatrice was preceded in death by her son Raymond Lund and her daughter Ruth Lund Wright. A memorial service will be held at the All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church in Sun City on May 11, 2013 at 11 AM. Derrill “Sonny” Jowers, 74 passed away Saturday, May 4th at home in Sun City, Arizona after an extended illness. He was born in DeLand, Florida September 17, 1938 to the late Ray and Alice (Kruser) Jowers. He graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida in 1957. He retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company in 1989. He and his wife Jean moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1991. Sonny enjoyed working with computers and anything related to electronics. He had a special gift in this area. While living in Florida he was an avid fisherman. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Martha “Jean”, four children, many grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves behind one twin sister and three brothers. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church at 9849 N. 105th Ave. in Sun City. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Daytona Beach, Florida. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sun City in memory of Derrill “Sonny” Jowers.

Survived by wife Flo, sons Don (Carol), Ron (Angela), grandsons Michael, Jesse, & Dean, 3 great-grandchildren, step-daughters, Angela Anliker, Paget Weber, & Jackie Reyes. A WWII US Navy veteran, he was a truck driver for 30 years in Ohio, and a school bus driver for 8 years in Arizona. A member of the Teamsters, American Legion and an avid golfer. Preceded in death by wife Phyllis. Cremation rites to be accorded, with memorial service to be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Private interment with military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
