$1 BILLION MINNESOTA VIKINGS NFL STADIUM

Who said owning a sports franchise was easy? No-one that’s who, because owning an NFL team is an eye wateringly expensive pursuit. The cost of building a new stadium is the most astronomic expense, but even by modern sports arena standards the $1 Billion Minnesota Vikings NFL Stadium is costly.

The team has just officially raised the curtains on the design for their new stadium and while outwardly it may look a little awkward, it comes as no surprise that it will be entirely state of the art. Minnesota does not boast the best weather, well unless below zero chills and snow is your idea of paradise that is. That terrible cold has effects on buildings, and the new Minnesota Vikings NFL Stadium has been designed with one eye on combatting the brutal climate.

From the outside the new design looks almost church like and inside it is going to be a theatre of light, a cauldron of natural sunlight. The stadium will sport the world’s largest transparent roof, although instead of opting for glass the designers went with a durable ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) material that will stave off Mother Nature in all her freezing fury.

The stadium will seat 65,000 fans and will be open in time for the start of the 2016 NFL season.

Oh how we wish this was an actual time travelling watch. Of course it is not, but we are still very happy with this slick timepiece that allows the wearer to know the time of every time zone in the world.

The Time Traveller Watch by Mr JonesWatches ($205) is beautifully exquisite and mega exclusive, with just 100 examples heading out of production. The face includes images of famous structures from around the world (how many do you recognise?), these 16 landmark buildings mark the time in the location where the building is. Interestingly, from a distance the images look silhouetted, but in fact up close they are actually detailed representations of the landmarks.

To tell the time in your location you will look at the landmark that represents your zone. For example, if you are in the UK, you would use Big Ben as the hour hand; likewise if you were in New York you would use the Statue of Liberty as the hour hand. The minute hand is represented by a city dweller found the world over, the humble pigeon.

We cover plenty of motorcycle customs here at MensGear, but none have been quite as unique as the Honda Ruckus Custom. This is a rare scooter custom, and to be honest we are surprised it has taken this long to see an original scooter pop up. The Honda Ruckus LV Project Custom is bringing some originality back to scooters and definitely stands out from the crowd. Even among Honda enthusiasts, this is creating a big buzz for collectors who want to have a unique piece of Honda history. Created by the team at Arcadia, CA based Rucksters removed the original 49cc engine and replaced it with a heartier 150cc GY6 motor, meaning this epic ride offers a bit more zip than a normal scooter.

The ‘Du Pont ‘Champagne’ color scheme is taken from fashion house Louis Vuitton and the overall design is both bold and exciting. No wonder this is causing quite a stir!

Yesterday Sony raised the curtain on its latest smartphone. The Japanese company has been making some quality handsets of late, and can probably boast its best range of smartphones ever. The latest Xperia is a robust device and follows the recent trend of frankly world-class mobiles from Sony. The Xperia ZR continues the Sony ethos of making its smartphones robust and the talk about feature on this handset is the fact it is waterproof.

Not gimmicky waterproof either, but the real deal. The Xperia ZR can be submerged in water up to 1.5m in depth and maintain full functionality. Even the camera will still work, and Sony is really pushing the fact that this is a working underwater snapper and video camera.

Under the hood the Xperia ZR ($TBA) is sporting a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Quad-Core processor, 2GB of RAM, and runs on Android 4.1. KTM X-BOW GT

Austrian manufacturer KTM can do no wrong in our eyes. Their motorbikes and cars are unique, they offer the thrill of simple motoring brought back to basics, but wrap up that experience in a modern package. The X-Bow has been the epitome of that ethos, a track day car that offers blistering pace, face searing cornering, and just loads of fun.

The new X-Bow GT is the next step in the evolution and brings some luxury to proceedings. When we say luxury, it is worth bearing in mind that this is a KTM, so the opulence only goes as far as a windshield (small), doors (smaller), and side windows (tiny). The roof is still exposed to the elements but at least when you are tearing down the asphalt in the KTMX-Bow GT ($96,000) you will not be greeted by flies hitting your face.

Other than the added “luxuries” the KTM X-Bow GT is exactly what we have come to expect from the brand, a lightweight, fast, and exciting ride. Think of a go-kart, but think of one sporting a 2.0 Liter Turbo TFSI engine from Audi providing an output of 280hp, a maximum torque of 420 Nm at 3,200 rpm and accelerating from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds.
