If you were introduced to a quick effective technique to create change in your life instantly - in your finances, health, relationships and career - would you try it?

Christopher Howard, an internationally acclaimed expert in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Leadership, has made a career out of guiding people to immediately transform ineffective thoughts and behaviors into adaptable, successful ones that allow them to create the results they want in their lives.

NLP is a hybrid science discovered and created in the early 70’s by a computer scientist and a linguist. The team studied the most effective therapists while they were conducting therapy to find out precisely how change occurred, with the intention of replicating this change for others in a fraction of the time. They found that the most effective method of change consisted of reconstructing beliefs, cognition and language in such a way as to make them work for - instead of against - the patient.

"Think of the human brain as being the most fantastic biocomputer ever created," explains Howard, who has personally led, managed, launched or turned around numerous organizations and businesses in the past decade. "But it’s not user friendly. The technologies we teach are kind of like a Users Guide. Installing a new system, such as the mindset of someone like Ghandi, for example, is like upgrading your software system."

In his courses, Howard uses the traditional techniques of NLP but takes them a step further. For one, he has combined these techniques with hypnosis to further instigate instant change on a subconscious level. He has also expanded upon the original sources used to develop and implement the science of NLP. "Instead of looking only at therapists as a source to model, I began looking to the greatest spiritual, world and business leaders of all time, such as Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Richard Branson (the mastermind behind Virgin Records and Virgin Airlines), to name a few. Howard calls the tools he teaches today Creation Technologies. They are tools that allow you to create your life the way that you want by expanding your self concept and expanding the results that you are able to produce in any context.

"Through the technique of modeling, we can look at any result that anybody has every produced and replicate that result in a fraction of the time," explains Howard. "In the various courses we teach through our University of Excellence, modeling, along with other tools, is taught as a means of accelerating one’s own success. We teach how to replicate and expand excellence."

So what is the process of Creation Technologies? Let’s say somebody wants to become a multi-billionaire or super success, and they choose Oprah Winfrey as their role model. "Her success is the result of a superior mindset," says Howard. "The question then becomes: "How can we emulate and install her psychology into somebody else?" All of Oprah’s qualities - her values, attitudes, beliefs, the decisions she’s made, how she sees people, and the strategies she uses to produce the results she wants - are analyzed and broken down. "One of Oprah’s main driving forces is to be loved," explains Howard. "We can take that and then analyze the strategies she’s used to run that driving force. Part of what this technology does is allow us to break things down into small enough parts to make them transferable."

The manner in which Creation Technologies transfers such parts to an individual entails adjusting their values and beliefs in a way that serves their highest potential. "We all have certain ways we code and store information in our minds and bodies. A ’value’ is simply what is important to you, and values will largely shape your world," elaborates Howard. "A ’belief’ is simply a feeling of certainty about something, but it’s not necessarily true. Through Creation Technologies, we can shift the way you store values and beliefs in your body so you can change what’s important to you at the subconscious level, therefore releasing subconscious blocks to your success."

And going back to the computer analogy: "If all you have is poverty or lousy relationships punched into your search engine, that’s all that will come up. We teach people how to gain control of those things so that they can punch wealth and harmony in instead, and then that will appear in their lives."

In the weekend Breakthrough to Success Seminar, people choose an area of their lives where they’re not living up to their full potential. Howard and his associates help them and apply accelerated technologies to break through those blocks. "It’s a wonderful weekend to figure out what subconscious factors are controlling one’s life, and how they can break through these obstacles once and for all," says Howard.

A great example of the success of the techniques taught by Howard is exemplified by an artist who came to a weekend seminar. "She decided to focus on finances first," says Howard. "She was making $70,000 a year at the time. What she learned was that one of her beliefs was that money and happiness didn’t go hand in hand During the training she released this and other limiting decisions through a regression type of technique. Within a year-and-a-half after attending our program, she is now making $180,000 a year and working less. She’s also attended an additional week-long program, lost over 50 pounds, and has gotten her ideal relationship as well."

Howard maintains that there are two things that determine our success in life: our internal communication, which is how and what we communicate inside our minds and bodies (our thoughts), and our external communication, which is the manner in which we communicate with others. "No one who produces major results in the world has done so unless it has been with and through other people," emphasizes Howard. "Creation Technologies teaches us to change internal and external communication, focuses on leadership and groups, and shows people how to develop the ability to be influential in their own lives."

An important aspect of Howard’s training is that he has developed a system where people not only learn the tools for change, but are forced to apply them. In addition to the various exercises done in class, challenging activities such as ropes training, rock climbing, and even hang gliding are used to stretch people beyond their limits to make them believe they can do anything.

Although NLP is largely psychologically-oriented, Howard feels there is a strong spiritual aspect to what he does. "Who we really are is love and light and goodness, and what prevent us from tapping into that are negative emotions and limiting decisions. So when we release those things in our programs, we then become more of who we really are. I see the use of NLP in my courses as a means of getting closer to our spiritual nature.

"When people come into the weekend program," concludes Howard, "they have major changes as a result of being there only two-and-a-half days. They are blown away by the personal transformation they get afterwards and call us for weeks, months and even years later telling us how much their lives have changed. From an instructor’s viewpoint, what could be more fulfilling than that?"

Revolutionising the way we learn, communicate, interact with others and approach our goals, NLP(Neuro Linguistic Programming) has been likened to a manual for the human brain. Bypassing the ineffective process of trial and error, NLP models the actions of those who are highly successful to unlock and replicate what it is that has lead to their success.

How was NLP developed?

NLP began in the early 1970s when two Americans, a mathematician called Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder, asked themselves a simple but fascinating question: "What is it that makes the difference between somebody who is merely competent at any given skill, and somebody who excels at the same skill?"

Building upon the extraordinary work of therapists Virginia Satir, Milton Erickson and Fritz Perls, and cognitive behavioural psychology, Bandler and Grinder developed formal linguistic and behavioural patterns that went on to become the cornerstone of NLP practices and techniques today.

How does NLP work?

Using specific language patterns to cut through established behavioural and learning patterns, NLP works to change, adopt, or eliminate behaviours as you desire. Updating or upgrading the “menta software” of the brain through directed questioning, reframing, visualisation and modelling, among the hundreds of NLP techniques.

What sets NLP apart from other therapy techniques is the speed at which the profound change occurs. NLP directly targets the way in which we ‘filter’, delete, and generalize the two million pieces of information we receive through our sensory channels each second. Out of the two million ‘bits’ of information we receive we only process seven (plus or minus two) chunks. This means that, out of everything that is happening, we only focus, and therefore only experience, a minute amount.

Think of your focus as being like a flashlight. If you were standing in a dark room with wealth in one corner and poverty in the other, your experience in life would be based upon where you’re pointing your flashlight at any given time. Do you have the flashlight of your focus on wealth, or on poverty?

Aside from providing the ‘wow’ transforming moments, it is NLP’s effectiveness lies in its simplicity and naturalness of concept. It uses the very way in which we make sense of environment - linguistic patterns (speech and self talk), as the method of changing a person ‘filters’ which in turn changes their whole focus.

No psycho babble, no showman techniques, just simple yet powerful techniques to shift your conscious and unconscious focus from the negative and limiting to achieving your true goals. Imparting the skills ability to choose your mental, emotional, and physical states of well being at any time, NLP overhauls your communication skills both internally and externally. What Are You Going To Do When You Grow Up? - A Lesson In Proactive Life Planning

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The future belongs to those who plan for it." I stumbled onto proactive life planning as a key to success later in my life. In this article I reveal 3 proven strategies for pulling your life together and giving it meaning. You can do life planning now, no matter what your age.

While serving in the Coast Guard I worked for several years in Washington, DC. It always amazed me at how easy it was to get lost there. I know from experience why people say that Mr. L'Enfant designed Washington's streets to be intimidating.

One day, a "Coastie" friend and myself had a meeting downtown. Mistake number 1 - I agreed to drive. Mistake number 2 was even worse - I assumed my friend knew where we were going; but all he knew was the building name.

Being the typical guy characters, neither of us wanted to stop and ask for directions. We were two intelligent officers and we didn't know where we were going. Our chances for success were close to zero.

I'm afraid we were not alone in our foolishness. In fact, some people driving through life don't even know where they want to go. If you are in that situation, then your chance of success IS ZERO.

But, take heart. The following strategies can boost your chances for success to 100%.

Key Strategy # 1 - Take Control of Your Mind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People who know what they desire in life are those who are able to take control and know their own minds. You were made in the image of God and He gave you solitary control over your mind for that purpose.

Thinking is work, but it can be fun and even adventurous, especially when you find a subject or activity that you like. When you control your thinking you can dream. If you let yourself dream of what you desire in life, then you are sure to find true happiness and success.

If you have not explored your own desires and dreams, start now by getting a piece of paper and writing them down. It's like stopping and asking for directions, which is what my Coastie friend and I finally did in Washington DC.

Ask yourself, if I had everything I needed; money, time, and support; what would I want to do, be and have? Do this exercise and you will learn how to take control of your mind. It might seem uncomfortable at first, but it will help you.

Key Strategy # 2 - Add Clarity To Your Dreams
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Successful people recognize the patterns of success and follow them. One such pattern is to plan what you think and do by adding clarity to your dreams. It's like writing a story about yourself and then acting it out.

My wife works with migrant children, teaching them English and catching them up on academics. One teaching method that has been very successful is puppetry. She coaches the children on developing the characters of their puppets by asking questions; simple at first, and then more thought provoking.

The questioning continues and clarity is added until the characters are unique and interesting individuals. Then the children can name them, make them, and easily put them into stories.

Add clarity to your dreams. Ask yourself questions that help you to be specific about who you are. When you are unique and interesting, you can write your life's story with confidence.

Key Strategy # 3 - Motivate Yourself To Pay The Price

People who have a passion for living motivate themselves to pay the price for their dreams. If you aren't willing to put in the effort to make them happen, they will remain dreams.

As Americans, we believe that the 'pursuit of happiness' is an inalienable right of each person. You can pursue happiness and motivate yourself to become successful by linking your dreams with positive emotions. In so doing you proactively build a strong positive mental attitude.

Use the following mental exercise to strengthen your desire for success. Fix a particular objective in your mind and then link the rewards of accomplishing it to the following emotions: desire, faith, enthusiasm, nurturing, love, and hope. These positive emotions will reinforce your desire and give you the energy and enthusiasm you need to pay the price for your dreams.

In conclusion, there is wisdom within you; an intuition about what is best for you that you need to tap into. Spend a little time each day in quiet thinking so you can continuously add clarity to your dreams. Pursue happiness by emotionalizing your dreams until you have a burning desire to achieve them. It is not selfish; it's Proactive Life Planning.

"There Is Always The First Time"

This is the second article in an exciting 3-part series answering the question, "How do we overcome our fears?"

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world." Therefore, I want to teach you how to rid yourself of those bad fears that hold you back from success and abundance.

We learned in the first article, that in order to proactively rid yourself of your fears, you need to remove the "three ignorances" that cause your fears.

The first ignorance to overcome is "not knowing enough about the thing you fear." We naturally fear the unknown. However, instead of letting the unknown paralyze us, we can use it to direct our learning. Our proactive mantra is, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear."

Overcoming The Second Ignorance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second ignorance to overcome is "not knowing how to control the thing you fear." Emerson said, "Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain." Fear is removed by doing the thing you fear because you will learn how to be in control.

When you hear yourself saying, "But I've never done that before," your proactive response should be, "There is always the first time." Our lives are filled with "first time" events. They are necessary and good.

The following are some proactive guidelines to help you take your "first steps" in the right way so you will be bound for success.

The First Step Gives You Courage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You probably weren't old enough to remember your first wobbly step as a toddler, but you might recall your first day of school and that frightening school bus ride. Or, how about going to a wilderness summer camp, leaving your parents for a whole week? If you're like me, the second time was much easier because I felt in control.

There is an old Chinese proverb that says, "The journey of a 1000 leagues starts with a single step." I've discovered that although the first step is a small distance, it is that single step that has accomplished the most, because by taking the first step I have made a choice.

Making a choice narrows your thinking and it concentrates your courage. It's like a magnifying glass concentrating the sun's rays so that it can burn through paper. Your new-found courage will give you the power to control the thing you fear. You become the master as you learn control.

Accept That The First Time Will Not Be Perfect
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dan Kennedy, a business and marketing guru, says, "Nothing is worth doing, if it is not worth doing badly at first." How can you do something well if you don't give yourself permission to learn from your mistakes?

Did you get on a bicycle and ride it perfectly the first time? I didn't either. My parents helped me by creating a safe environment on level ground. I also started with training wheels. I remember being afraid at first, and there were some scrapes and bruises, but mostly I recall my elation of accomplishment. I quickly gained proficiency and the bicycle became my primary mode of transport and pleasure for many years.

Create for yourself a safe learning environment. If you are learning public speaking, don't start with a 500-person audience. Start out with small audiences that will give you positive feedback. Join Toastmasters or a similar group that will help guide you.

Practice The First Time In Your Mind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our minds are the center of creativity. Napoleon Hill said, "What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." I firmly believe that Hill's statement includes doing the thing you fear too.

If you fear starting a business, then practice doing it for the first time successfully in your mind. If you are learning sales, then observe other successful sales reps and put yourself in their shoes. Your subconscious mind won't know the difference and it will give you positive feedback.

When you apply these proactive guidelines, you become a master of fear instead of a victim of fear. Proactively look into the future and plan your "first times" with a positive attitude. Take the first step in doing the thing you fear and you will receive the courage you need to continue, and soon your fear will vanish.

Then when you set out to tackle the next fear, just remember, "There is always the first time," and go to it.

In the next article of this series we will learn about the third ignorance to overcome, which is "not knowing what motivates you to rid yourself of your fears." You will learn that every achievement starts with some type of motivation, including overcoming your fears. Therefore you will want to read "Motivate Yourself To Run Toward Your Fears."

"You Can Learn Anything You Need To Know To Remove Any Fear"

This is the first article in a series answering the question, "How do we overcome our fears?"

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world."

I want to help you to learn how to overcome the fears that defeat you and hold you back. If you rid yourself of your fears, success and abundance are sure to be your destiny.

The Three Things That Cause Bad Fears
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are told that there are three things that establish the value of a home: location, location, and location. Therefore you look at its proximity to schools, where you work, and important amenities.

Although it sounds a bit crass, there are three things that establish the fears that defeat you: ignorance, ignorance, and ignorance. Our lack of knowledge sets us up for failure.

This is actually good news, because, quoting Brian Tracy "We can learn anything we need to know in order to achieve any goal we set for ourselves." That means, we can overcome ANY fear if we set it as a goal!

During this 3-part series, you will learn how to proactively rid yourself of the fears that keep you from success by removing the "three ignorances" that cause them.

Overcoming The First Ignorance

The first ignorance to overcome is "not knowing about the thing you fear." We naturally fear the unknown. That is not bad in itself. In fact it is a God-given quality. But "unknowns" are meant to help us direct our learning, not hold us back.

You can probably recall many things that you were fearful of until you learned more about them. Learning removes fears.

Consider the example of Christopher Columbus. People were deathly afraid of sailing across the Atlantic. Something that is hard to imagine now. But Columbus learned astronomy and math. He became a ship captain and learned all about navigating. His knowledge gave him a tremendous level of courage that caused him to be fearless. He KNEW that his ships would not sail off the end of the earth.

Our proactive mantra should be, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear."

Honey I Shrunk Your Fears
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stealing from the MGM Movie, you can easily shrink your fears by shrinking the job of learning.

Jim Rohn says the first task of any job is "break it down." Divide and conquer has always been sound advice. Whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish, splitting it up into tasks that can be easily managed will shrink a huge job down so it is not so daunting.

Break down the job of learning into tasks. Decide what you are going to learn first by thinking of what would help you the most right now. Also consider what would help you in learning the other things that you need to learn.

For example, the number one fear of most people is public speaking. The vast majority of people fear it because they never learned how to do it properly. Most of us were thrust into the situation as young children, of being forced to read or recite something in front of a class, most of who were eager for any excuse to laugh or find fault.

You can break down the fear of public speaking by reading about it. I highly recommend Dale Carnegie's books to start with. Oh how I wish I had been taught these principles back in grade school. I had the fear of public speaking. Carnegie's books completely changed my attitude and helped me to rid myself of that fear.

Rid Yourself of the Fear Of Learning
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is sad but true, many people fear the task of learning. And of course you don't have to, not if you start with learning how to learn.

Believe it or not, I was afraid of going into a library. Not as a kid, but as an adult! I already had a college degree, and I didn't know how to use the library. I viewed it as "term paper hell."

Fortunately I'm married to a brave woman who took on the task of educating me and showing me how libraries can be fun and rewarding. Now I'm a "book-aholic" and I spend most of my day either reading or writing or surfing the internet for more great books.

So keep reminding yourself, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear." Make this your mantra and success and abundance will follow.
