<p>You can not lead someone, most people &#8216;try&#8217; to lead, you will be either pushing them or dragging them, and that&#8217;s just exhausting. So how do you lead? You first have to lead their thoughts..</p>
<p>Leadership of the masses demands that you speak to their hearts. You give the audience the chance to love themselves more and believe in themselves more. That is accomplished by helping them to focus on the &#8220;Main Thing&#8221;. You have probably heard the expression: Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing.</p>

<p>So many times, if people are not used to being coached or even more being Mentored, they tend to let their thoughts control them, to guide them, to determine how they feel, what they eat the list could go on and on. All the showing that most people are already being lead by someone or something other then themselves.</p>
<p>To lead, you must be willing to speak up, speak out, stand up and stand out. You can only lead a particular group or mindset. So know what you want your audience to do, what is it going to take to reach the target you are leading them towards. If you can figure out the activities they need to do, then you can talk about that and paint the picture and people will be gin to understand what they will get in return for following you.</p>
<p>Some steps to follow:</p>
<p>Be the expert in your field<br />
Create content that people can refer to as supporting documents/videos to give credibility<br />
Find a Mentor<br />
Speak on your topic as often as you can</p>
<p>Have some fun, share some smiles, and make a diference.</p>

<p>Let me see if I can explain it.</p>
<p>In conversations, and in media, people spend a significant amount of time in choosing the right words, making sure they all flow together, and that the spelling is correct, and the grammer is right. Well, they are focusing on 7% of succes. Now it&#8217;s an important part, don&#8217;t get me wrong. The difference between the &#8220;right&#8221; word and the &#8220;almost right&#8221; word is the difference between lighting and a lighting bug.</p>
<p>What I want to share is that, if you knew that you could increase your success of the words you choose simply by being aware of HOW you are saying them. Here are some thoughts, ideas and techniques I have used around the world in speaking with folks, just like you.</p>
<p>Look at yourself in the mirror. I know that seems like something very simple to do, and it is. I am teaching you a secret to success, and success is simple. So look at how you look in a mirror. When you, what is the feeling you see. Not what you feel. What feeling do you see. I want you to really look at that image you see, because that is what those around you see.</p>
<p>There is a phrase I teach my students: Who you are speaks so loud that I can&#8217;t hear what you are saying.  Emerson said this. It&#8217;s so very true, and when you really understand this, you will begin to realize why many of your conversations did not go as well as you planned, did not produce the outcome you wished for.</p>
<p>The words are important, I am not saying they are not. What I am saying is that if you use less words, and more of YOU, the words you need to use will be less.</p>
<p>Get better at You, and you will get better for everyone else.</p>
<p>3 Simple Steps for 93% Success</p>
<p>1. Record yourself<br />
If your not comfortable in front of a camera, or you thing you &#8220;look funny&#8221; or &#8220;sound funny&#8221;, then that is what the audience is thinking as well. Get good at being in front of a camera and the results you get will dramatically improve.</p>
<p>2. Watch Comedians<br />
Comedy is so much about timing. So you will begin to see how hard they rehearse to get the punchlines delivered just right. Also watch their expressions. You will see what they are NOT saying makes the joke.</p>
<p>3. Practice, Practice, Practice&#8230;.<br />
The key is make it natural, and the only way for that to happen is to make it a part of you. Know your topics as well as you know your phone number, your name ect.</p>

<p>If you ever said the words, &#8220;I knew I should have done &#8220;that&#8221;&#8230;&#8221; or &#8220;I know better then that&#8221;.<br />
These are signs that the part of &#8220;you&#8221; that wants to reach your goals, that inner you that dreams and wishes&#8230; its evidence that it has been working, on guiding you. The &#8220;you&#8221; that is on your Dream Boards, on the sticky notes around your house, the notes you carry in your wallet or day planner. This &#8220;YOU&#8221; knows how to get you there.<br />
Its the Ego You&#8230;, the one you are now, the one that fears change, the one that fears success. Its this &#8220;you&#8221; that  does all it can to keep you in the station of life your in now&#8230; that is the You that you are listening to when you say things like, &#8220;why does this always happen to me?&#8221;</p>
<p><em><strong>Its time to change that! Stop Delaying Yourself!</strong></em></p>
<p>How do you do that? Here are some ideas, they are just that ideas. Take from them what you want.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ffff99;"><strong>Step 1</strong></span><br />
Pay attention. Know what your doing right now, why are you doing it, and then pay attention to that little voice inside of you that is looking to guide you.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ffff99;"><strong>Step 2</strong></span><br />
Do things different everyday. What I mean by that is simply do things different. Walk around your house in a different pattern&#8230; park your car different at work and at home. Dry yourself off in the shower differently.. anything that you can do different.. DO IT!<br />
Here is the reason why I share this. We are such creatures of habit, that when we set a goal, we are usually setting a goal that is going to require many things in the universe to change. There is no challenge with these big changes taking place. The problem is that the big ones can&#8217;t happen till the little ones happen. Therefore.. change all the little things that you can around you.</p>
<p>See when you start to implement these little changes in your life, you will all of a sudden begin to see things differently and you will create great openings for bigger changes to happen.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ffff99;"><strong>Step 3</strong></span><br />
Keep track&#8230; journal your feelings, your changes, your success.<br />
If you don&#8217;t do this, you will miss out on 80% of the clues that life, the universe, that God is bringing to you.. where ever you believe the world to be&#8230; if you don&#8217;t keep track of your progress and challenges, then the mind can trick you so easily to think nothing is changing.</p>
<p>Stop Delaying Yourself, and live a new life in every moment. After all, isn&#8217;t that whats happening anyway.</p>

<p>The new year is coming, not a single one of us can stop it&#8230; so now what?</p>
<p>What are you going to do different, what are you going to do better, what are you going to stop doing? I bet its more of the last one, the stop doing that would make the most impact in your life. I know it will in mine.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Here are some things that I am going to stop doing.</p>
<p>1. Giving away space in my mind for things that I know are not growing good results for me.<br />
2. I am going to stop eating things that are not an 8 or above in my &#8220;I love this&#8221; book of food.<br />
3. Stop watching TV at 2am cause I had an 18 hour day and I want to just see whats going on.. Nope.. I&#8217;m going to bed.</p>
<p>So there are a few things that I am going to stop doing immediately.</p>
<p>See its the 80/20 rule. See if this holds true for you. The rule states about 80% of your efforts get you 20% of your results, and that 20% of your efforts get you about 80% of your results.</p>
<p>So as you enter into the new year, make sure that you look at the &#8220;RESULTS&#8221; you are wanting, and then look at the activities that it takes to make that happen. You will be surprised how much of your time is spent on things that will never produce those results.</p>
<p>Make your list of things you will and things you will not do, so at least you have a starting point for your succes..</p>

<p>She voluenteered to be a part of demonstration I do. It is one to show how fast you will change your beliefs in your own self. Joyce played her part perfectly. Let me see if you can get the picture, the feel for how this all played out.</p>
<p>The concept is, I can prove that I can get anyone to produce the more results in 2 days then they have in the past 2 weeks, even 2 years. <p>What is real no matter if you attend my event or not, is that your clock is ticking. Joyce knew that, and knows it even better today. See in our conversation, I gave her a deadline&#8230; and at the end of that deadline, lets say when the CLOCK would stop ticking. Something very dear to her would be taken away. She did not much like the thought of that, and with out much coaching on my part, she realized the ultimate control she had over her own future. Not just for the next 2 day, also for the next 2 months, 2 years&#8230; ect.</p>
<p>So I ask you now, the person reading this&#8230; maybe this was shared with you. The Question to you is this.</p>
<p>What would you do to if you only had 1 day left? One week left to take put things in place to take care of your family&#8230; what would you do?</p>
<p>See it&#8217;s what we leave behind that we need to look at for our family. Not just what we have now, its what they will have when we are gone. If you know you can do more, then do it.. if you know you can create more, then do it&#8230; if you know you can be more then do THAT too!</p>
<p>Make a difference each and every day. Joyce reminded me of that today, and for that I&#8217;m grateful.</p>

<p>Suggestions for understanding: Do you desire a Coach, or have to have a Mentor?</p>
<p>As an individual which has spoken before 1000&#8242;s of men and women around the globe, as a Personal Development Mentor, translated into 18 languages, I delight in moving people into action. It never ever fails, at the conclusion of my events, some of those that attended will ask me if I could personally mentor them.</p>
<p>Just before I answer that, allow me to go back and offer you some history that can give you a look into my answer I share with them. My Dad is my ideal teacher, and growing up I learned the art work of &#8220;Experience may be the most effective Teacher&#8221;! See my Dad would watch as I would do things about the farm, from changing a tire, to feeding the dogs or plowing the fields. Let me clarify.</p>
<p>Do you don&#8217;t forget as a kid how you &#8220;thought&#8221; you were getting away things, and then you were busted by your parents? Well that was my Dad. I don&#8217;t know how lots of times I messed something up, then immediately give that &#8220;slow look&#8221; around and come across Dad standing somewhere giving me the &#8220;look&#8221;. Now I have to let you know, it wasn&#8217;t &#8220;the look&#8221; of frustration, it was a lot more like, &#8220;okay, now how are you going to fix it&#8221; kind of look.</p>
<p>So what does this have to do with how to choose a &lt;a href=&#8217;http://www.seangmurphy.com&#8217;&gt;Coach&lt;/a&gt; vs a mentor? Here ya go&#8230; My Dad didn&#8217;t do it for me, many occasions he didn&#8217;t even show me how to complete the task properly. I would to get so mad, I used to think he did not believe it was crucial to show me. What I have learned now as an adult, is the fact that he was forcing me to Think, to generate a plan in my head, teaching me to think in advance, if this then that, type of thinking. Back then this pattern between me and my Dad, it triggered challenges and I&#8217;ve to let you know I got mad on quite a few occasions.</p>
<p>So here are my thoughts on the best way to choose a Coach and the way to pick a Mentor.</p>
<p>Coach</p>
<p>1. Define what skill you wish to increase.</p>
<p>2. Find someone that does that skill you want to learn,as well as you would like it, and hire them.</p>
<p>3. Follow the routine they put you on.</p>
<p>4. Determine how long you desire to be taught this new skill.</p>
<p>Mentor</p>
<p>1. Who is an individual that you admire and would like to be more like?</p>
<p>2. Someone that has the ability to move people into action right now.</p>
<p>3. What set of skills would you want to have tremendous success in?</p>
<p>4. Who is strong in the areas of interest you have and has mentored people in the past?</p>
<p>5. Are you prepared for a lifetime relationship and can you see yourself carrying out that?</p>
<p>A Coach will show you tips on how to do what you want to complete, a Mentor will teach you how to do things you didn&#8217;t know you were capable of! So you have to identify which do you desire? How do you find out if a person may be the proper choice for you? You need to ask questions, you have to interview, you must make a list of factors you are on the lookout for.</p>
<p>So how do you interview? Interview is usually an approach of discovering out will you get what you need from the relationship. So you must tell the truth about what you are in search of. If the person you&#8217;re talking to has the expertise you have been looking for, you&#8217;ll know it from the conversation. They are going to share insights with you that they picked up from the interview conversation, they&#8217;ll provide you with action actions to put into action even if you opt not to utilize them for your coaching.</p>
<p>A Mentor is a person that can move you into action and hold you accountable, bring out the good results in you that you simply have kept hidden for far too long. A lot like I mentioned earlier, when I believed I was getting away with different things as a kid, my Dad knew. A mentor is the same way, they know when you are carrying out what they asked you to do and when you&#8217;re not.</p>
<p>So create your list, determine if are you searching for a coach or a mentor. Here may be the good news. A Mentor could be a coach, but a coach cannot ever be a mentor. You need to establish how hard you would like to be pushed and are you willing to pay the price. My answer to those that want me to mentor them is &#8220;Yes, now your 1st job is immediately send me your list of 20 Personal Goals that you want out of life.&#8221; As soon as I get them, I will start the process with them. We&#8217;ll schedule their Mentor Profits Call. It is sad really, out with the 100&#8242;s that have had the courage to ask, only a handful have taken action, and that action has turned into amazing success for them.</p>
<p>So here are a few things for you to ask yourself:</p>
<p>1. Are you currently pleased with what you have?</p>
<p>2. If your growth this year is much like last year&#8217;s are you satisfied?</p>
<p>3. Do you&#8217;ve got a customized road map created for your talents?</p>
<p>4. Will you hold yourself accountable to succeed?</p>
<p>5. Does the thought of tremendous success scare the hell out you?</p>
<p>In case you answered Yes to any of these, you may be looking for a coach.</p>
<p>Its possible that you answered No to all of them, well it&#8217;s my guess you ought to get a Mentor, and start off right now. I wish you excellent achievements in your life.</p>

We have heard lines like this in the past, and maybe we have even said something like this ourselves. Let me see if I can explain my perspective.</p>
<p>Our mind is in a constant state of acceptance or denial. We are either going to accept what we do or we fight that it&#8217;s different. I have written other articles about how we are &#8220;programed to disagree&#8221;.</p>
<p>You start a fight with your &#8220;past&#8221; every time you set a goal. Reflect for just a moment and look back to the last time you became really excited about a goal. You were fired up, ready to go, you put the task on paper, even dated it so you knew when it would happen. Only to watch it all come to pass.</p>
<p>Now as someone that has spoken in 18 countries, and trained on this very topic, I can share with you, what I have experienced has been universal from my students. Everyone that I took on the &#8220;who am I fighting&#8221; journey&#8230; realized it was not them they were fighting. They were fighting old beliefs, ideas or concepts that were given to them by their past. Maybe it was what their Mom told them, or their Aunt or Uncle. It&#8217;s how they were taught to believe about money, or success.</p>
<p>Here is the reality. When you stop for a moment and look at the battle that rages in your mind over the goals you have set, it can&#8217;t be you! You would not want you to fail, you do not want you to be stress out, do you? NO!<br />
So then the battle, the fight has to be from somewhere or someone else.</p>
<p>When you look at things in this way, you begin to see you have been operating from a &#8220;please them&#8221; mindset. For you to move forward, you need to understand its okay to let them down! See if you are going to succeed, there are those patterns that are inside of you, the paradigms you have about you and your success, that were given to you and instilled in you from a very early age.</p>
<p>Times have changed, and so should your beliefs you keep. If were were to have a conversation, there is no doubt that during the talk, we would uncover some core fundamentals that no longer hold true. I know, cause I do it everyday with me and my thoughts&#8230;</p>

<div>The challenge is that we let someone else&#8217;s commitment that we have adopted as our own, keep us from keeping our personal commitment.</div>
<div>Let me see if I can explain in short order. It really comes down to belief. The beliefs we have of what we can do, what we can have, what we can commit to&#8230; have been handed down to us, generation after generation. What you have to do is to break the cycle, that pattern that is keeping you stuck where you are at.</div>
<div>Another big challenge that I see on too regular a basis, is long term commitments. Now I am not against long term planning, it&#8217;s just that if it is to far out, its to hard to make the commitment stick. I recommend to my clients and students, that they make daily commitments, some hourly, and others minute by minute reviews. Now these are serious cases of individuals that are challenged, the key is to keep them focused long enough that it becomes a part of who they are.</div>
<div>So if you are looking for a way to make commitments stick&#8230; make sure you can keep yourself on target, and do daily reviews. Jim Rohn says &#8220;A handful of things done on a daily basis will either help you win or help you loose&#8221;. Well you know which handful you use each day?</div>
