आज मक़ाम पाया है, तो भी कुछ कमी रहती है,
किस कदर ज़िन्दगी के फेर में घिरता जा रहा हूँ मै,
कहाँ से चला था, और आज कहाँ हूँ मै,

रह-रह कर याद आते है बचपन के आज़ाद दिन,
अपनापन तो है यहाँ भी, पर अपनों की कमी खलती है,
जाने किस तरह रह लेते है लोग वतन से दूर,
मेरा वतन ही मेरा दिल है, कैसे रहूँ धड़कन से दूर,

जाने क्यों घुटन से महसूस होती है इस माहौल में,
अपने हिस्से की हवा तो शायद, अपने वतन में ही रहती है,
मेरा घर, मेरा आँगन, मेरे दोस्त, वोह माँ का प्यार,
जाने इनके वास्ते कसा होगा और कितना इंतज़ार,

बहुत कुछ कमाया है तूने, पर क्या तुझे मेरी याद नहीं आती मेरी,
एक बार आकर मिल जा मुझसे, माँ की ख़ामोशी यही कहती है,
जाने क्या दे पाएंगे हम अगली पीढ़ी को विरासत में,
अपने रिवाज़ तक भूल चुके है ज़िन्दगी की जेद्दोजेहद में,
ज़िन्दगी तौ नियामत है खुदा की, बुजुर्गो ने यही सिखाया हमेशा,
अब तो ये ज़िन्दगी भी बोझ सी लगती है,
