When the Tuner Grand Prix changes the Hockenheimring into a cauldron of smoking tyres on the 26th and 27th June, the premium tuners will again be bringing their fascinating cars to the field. Souped-up racing technology provides a special thrill, although it hampers everyday use.

So are they just “big toys for big boys”? Not everyone wants to just “play”, as the Lorinser LV8, which is based on the new C-Class, proves impressively. “It corresponds 100 percent to the licensing requirements for a road car and that is precisely what makes it so fascinating”, explains General Manager Marcus Lorinser, who remained tight-lipped about the HP of his latest model, although has already revealed that the car will enter the C3 class (limousines, suction cars).

Optically it is also not a racing vehicle for purists, but a real Lorinser in full “regalia” and with a complete aerodynamics package as well as attractive light-alloy wheels. They are of course not covered by slicks, but road tyres from tyre partner Continental, who will be exhibiting together with Sportservice Lorinser at the Tuner Grand Prix. All in all it is a round concept which is orientated to everyday life that will not just get the blessing of TUV, but also adoring looks on the street.

Together, they’ll propel you to a top speed of some 202 mph, while a limited slip differential with a 60 percent locking rate ensures optimum power transfer to the road. To increase handling, a new sport suspension system has been incorporated into the V63RS, as has a high performance brake system and new 20-inch wheels (9×20 and 10,5×20, 245/30 and 285/25). Inside, TV/DVD unit, and whatever else your heart desires.

The new Mercedes E-Class Coupe just went on sale and BRABUS already presents an extensive tuning program for the new two-door. The pinnacle of the available performance tuning is the BRABUS 6.1 displacement engine. It has a rated power output of 462 hp (456 bhp) / 340 kW and propels the E 500 (US: E550) to an impressive top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph).

Also on offer is an aerodynamic-enhancement program that was developed in the wind tunnel. Further highlights are custom-tailored wheels up to 20 inches in diameter, sporty yet comfortable suspension solutions and exclusive interior options.

A rated power output of 462 hp (456 bhp) / 340 kW and a peak torque of 615 Nm (453 lb-ft) at just 3,100 rpm are the result of the displacement increase of the four-valve V8 engine from 5.5 to 6.1 liters. 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph): The BRABUS 6.1 displacement engine turns the E 500 Coupe into a true high-performance automobile.

The displacement increase of the eight-cylinder engine sells for 29,000 Euros. It is facilitated by the installation of a billet crankshaft with longer stroke and larger pistons. Furthermore the four-valve cylinder heads are precision-machined and fitted with custom camshafts. The BRABUS sport exhaust system with high-performance metal catalysts also contributes to the impressive power output as do specially programmed engine electronics.

More driving fun with the turbodiesel models is available with the BRABUS ECO PowerXtra kits. For the E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY BRABUS offers its D4 tuning kit. For just 1,390 Euros power output of the common-rail four-cylinder engine jumps from standard 204 hp (201 bhp) / 150 kW to 235 hp (232 bhp) / 173 kW. Peak torque grows to 560 Nm (413 lb-ft).

The V6 turbodiesel engine of the E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY equipped with BRABUS ECO PowerXtra D6 (III) module produces 272 hp (268 bhp) / 200 kW and a peak torque of 590 Nm (435 lb-ft).

All engines are lubricated with ARAL high-performance motor oil and like all BRABUS components they are backed by the one-of-a-kind BRABUS Tuning Warranty® of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers or 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions as of November 2006).

Stainless-steel BRABUS quad sport exhaust systems are available for all new E-Class models.

The BRABUS designers have also developed a sporty yet elegant aerodynamic-enhancement package for the two-door E-Class. It is manufactured from Pur-R-Rim in OEM quality. The BRABUS front spoiler with integrated LED daytime running lights gives the coupe an even more striking face and reduces aerodynamic lift on the front axle at high speeds.

BRABUS adds sporty highlights to the sides with new aluminum front sport quarter panels with integrated clear-coated carbon-fiber inserts. New rocker panels visually give the coupe a lower and sleeker stance. They feature LED entrance lights integrated into their undersides. Customers can also choose a version with integrated illuminated BRABUS logo.

The BRABUS rear apron features a centrally mounted reflector and custom-tailored cutouts on either side for the four tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust system.

The exclusive BRABUS appearance is rounded out by one-piece or multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels with diameters of 17, 18, 19 and 20 inches. The largest tire/wheel combination features BRABUS Monoblock VI, E, Q or S wheels in size 9Jx20 on the front axle and in size 9.5Jx20 in back. High-performance tires from BRABUS technology partners Pirelli and YOKOHAMA are mounted in size 235/30 ZR 20 in front and in size 265/25 ZR 20 on the rear axle.

The available BRABUS suspension solutions offer sporty handling combined with excellent ride comfort. They were custom-developed for the various engines available in the new E-Class. The list of options starts with lowering springs and culminates in a complete height-adjustable coil-over sport suspension.

BRABUS also offers a high-performance brake system for the new Mercedes coupe. It features six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 360-mm (14.2 inches) vented and cross-drilled discs on the front axle. The rear axle stops with four-piston aluminum fixed calipers.

BRABUS will customize the interior of the new E-Class Coupe to customers’ specifications. The list of interior options includes stainless-steel scuff plated with illuminated BRABUS logo, an ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel and an entirely new interior crafted from especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

Their latest project car is a complete conversion based on the current Mercedes C63 AMG.

Understatement was something the tuner has focussed on again. Besides the original 19“ AMG multi-spoke wheels (20“ optionally) first thing that stands out is the lower suspension setting which has been achieved by changing the standard springs – coilovers are available as an option. Further visual improvements can be seen only at a second sight. The mirror covers, the front grille, the roof, the Mercedes star and the bar below have been painted in black which look as if it is a factory option by Mercedes. Additionally the exhaust system has been changed to a stainless steel system which lets the car to sound the attack.

Of course visual improvements are not bad at all but what about power figures? For the C63 AMG AVUS PERFORMANCE offers three power stages. The current project car has stage 3 with 585bhp (457bhp) and 740Nm (600Nm). Top speed increases to 320km/h depending on tire approval. To properly decelerate the car 8piston brake calipers with 380mm diameter are offered.

As the days are getting longer, Mercedes and Smart drivers are only too happily tempted by the colour of the night: this is as Sportservice Lorinser is now also presenting a large share of its attractive light-alloy wheel collection in a fascinating dark look.

For example the single-piece Speedy (6.5×17 to 8.5×17 inch) designed for the Smart, shines with six diabolically brooding crescents in black paint. As a type MS light-alloy wheel it is also available in other dimensions, holes and bolt-hole patterns for Mercedes models
(7×17 to 8.5×18 inch).

But even a Lorinser classic like the RS 8 (8.5×19 to 10×21 inch) equipped with turbine blades looks good in a dark complexion. In a mat black surface finish it mutates into a “steam roller” which literally merges with tyres and tarmac and cannot be stopped by anything in its march forwards.

The multipiece RSK 6 (8.5×18 to 10×19 inch) draws attention to itself with its large and unequalled presence: a gigantic, five-pointed, shining black centre is surrounded by a polished flange. The two diverse shades offer different charms in proportion to the silver version.

The massive yet elegant “body” of the RS 9 with the spectacular triple brace particularly comes into its own in the bicolour look: here centre and outside in silver come up against mat black interior walls. In addition the wheel shines in an undreamt range of dimensions from 8×18 to 10×22 inch.

Consequently, with the Speedy, MS, RS 8, RSK 6 and RS 9, Sportservice Lorinser presents five expressive alloy arrangements which would even turn people of highest morals to the dark side. Particularly as each of the five alloys has completely different nuances and accents in accordance with its own character, and small cars, limousines, estate cars, sports or off-road vehicles are tuned with the thrilling touch of the bad boy.

European tuning experts MEC Design are please to show off their new bodykit for the Mercedes-Benz S Class.

The MEC Design S-Class bodykit is a 2face system which allows the customer the choice of having the front bumper with driving lights and fog lights or with just mesh. At the rear the customer can also choose between having the sporty looking diffusor or to go with the more refined elegant diffusor. The side skirts continue the beautiful lines and are available with or without LED lighting (5 per side) which is linked up to the internal lighting. The spoiler on the rear trunklid rounds off the rear end nicely.

The MEC Design sports exhaust system is manufactured from mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing, stainless steel resonator and muffler. The sounds that it produces are pretty amazing; the featured version is called “Earthquake” although it is available in a quieter version. The delicately placed embossed MEC Design logo on the quad oval chrome tips are the perfect finishing touch.

The interior features the MEC Design sports multi-functional airbag steering wheel. The distinctive ergonomically designed handles and its precious wood inlay and leather make it a pleasure to grip. The footmats are made from precious velours and feature Nubuck leather embroidery again with the MEC Design logo.

The alloy wheels are also designed by MEC Design and are a 3 piece design. The forged centre piece is high gloss compressed and has stainless steel outer rims. The front features 11×20 with 4,5 inch outer rims and 285/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires, whilst the rear has 13×20 with 5 inch outer rims again with 325/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires. The front axel has 10mm spacers and the rear axel 19mm spacers. All the bodywork has been done without the need for painting or lackering.
