They Want An ATV!

The Kids Want One!!!

Have you ever ridden an ATV? They are SO fun!!! I really can't blame my kids for wanting to get one. As a mother of six kids they sure would get a lot of use out of it, the question is where do you get one and how do you maintain it?

Turns out finding ATV's are not that hard, you can even purchase them gently used through many online shopping communities. The bigger challenge is finding parts - you can't make a purchase if you won't be able to maintain it right?

Personally, I'd like to find a place I could go to, get my stuff and have it arrive on my doorstep - lucky for me the internet makes that possible! There's got to be an online vendor of atv parts, the internet has everything else right!?!

Hum, does this mean I'm going to buy them one - Christmas is near!

My husband has been going to his fish campin Northern Florida since he was a little kid. He decided to take me to the cabin during spring break. If you have never been to Northern Florida, it is nothing like you see on the tourist commercials. It is far away from Disney World, and no one drives huge Mercedes like they do in West Palm Beach. The area where the cabin is located is actually really pretty remote. You have to drive at least twenty-five miles to get to the nearest Wal-Mart. The area is remote, but the cabin is nice. Because I don’t do a lot of fishing, I spent a lot of time sitting on the dock reading or riding on the boat. I don’t like the sun too much because I have fair skin and would get easily worn out when we would be on the boat all day. After the first couple of days, I decided that it would be best for me to stay at the cabin. I got so incredibly bored. I told my husband that I wouldn’t mind going again, but that he would have to look into getting Wild Blue satellite internet so that I wouldn’t be so bored!

REACHING OUTSIDE YOUR NICHE -
LEARNING FROM OUTSIDERS!

A few weeks ago I reached out to Meo Cuenca, Progressive Mommy Blogger at Merciful Blessings as I am always on the lookout to connect with up and coming bloggers. Our blogs have really different subjects (niches), however I believe that you need to go outside of your own niche and learn from 'outsiders' to grow within your own niche.




I am a Lifestyle Design Blogger & Entrepreneur with a keen interest in Social Media. As you guessed, Meo was very receptive to the out reach and invited me to write a guest post for Merciful Blessings on the topic of building relationships online, so here we are!


FUN FACT: I didn't know about Triberr before I met Meo either!

A little bit of history, the original concept of the Internet was based purely on the ability to 'link' to stuff. Fast forward to now, and we are all linking to each other. At least in my opinion, that's what we should be doing! This gave birth to the concept of Social Media.

If you are trying to build up an audience, then building relationships online is essential. I'd agree it's not about WHAT you know, it's WHO you know. By building relationships and networking strategically, you will naturally grow your audience.

Networking could be:


-Blog commenting on other blogs.

-Sharing other blog posts.

-Guest Posting for others.

-Send a friendly email to say HELLO!
-Know someone who knows someone - you could ask for an introduction.

If you strategically combine different types of networking, then there is no reason why you can't build up relationships with absolutely anyone. The higher up the chain they are, the more work you may need to do to get noticed by them, but never impossible. If you have something to offer them, then they will help you back. It's human nature.

What other types of networking can you think of? As I said at the start, I like learning from outside my niche!

Sunday Scripture - The Holy Bible

Children, obey your parents,

In early 2010 we were at a turning point in our life - it was do or die, literally. Maybe not physically but definitely spiritually. Not only had the past taken it’s toll, the future seemed bleak & almost hopeless. I was grateful my youngest (at the time) had survived a life-threatening experience but had not gained my FAITH enough to be “back to normal.”

Life’s never really easy, I mean, you have to work for what you want. It seemed I had given up & wasn’t working for anything beyond the mere need to survive. This was not fair to family, particularly my children. A decision had to be made, give up & whither away or die trying - I decided it was time to try, try for my family’s sake.

One of the things I did in this effort was to start reading more which in turn lead me to the decision work with my kids strengthing their FAITH, making it a family affair.

COLOSSIANS 3.20 was the 1st Scripture I assigned them.

Dainty Girl or Tomboy ???

Today, the 13th, is Mercirita’s day - she was born on January 13, 2009! When a baby is born we count by “months” until they reach one year old, then we count by years, well, most do. The Cuenca’s, well, we acknowledge the day. We don’t have a party every month or give presents but we do acknowledge the date the kids were born each month. Obviously today is Little Merci’s day!

What can we say about her... she’s cute as a button, I know, I know, all moms say that - but she REALLY is!!! She’s very dainty yet aggressive but cries to get her way... and has no problem resorting to tattling!!!

She copies EVERYTHING her Big Brother, Adonijah, says & does - even if she’s not big enough yet. She tells him “girls first” and is sure to get her fair share and then some!!! She is the first of my six CUENCSTARZ to regress because of having a new baby. Potty-training and sleeping in our bed are the big issues. She has no interest in “the pot” & refuses to sleep in her bed.

Now, she is interested in all things “girly” & “boyish”... baby dolls, barbie dolls, dress-up, make-up, skateboards and wrestling. When she’s playing “girly” stuff she runs around saying “I’m so beautiful!” and I LOVE IT - confidence is an IMPORTANT trait in today’s society. When she’s playing “boyish” stuff she flexes her arms & shows you her muscles, or what she calls muscles!

Something Special In October???

We went to the Halloween Spirit Store to look at costumes & she was terrified. When I finally got her to look at costumes she picked Alice, Alice In Wonderland. Very cute, right??? Not so much, she’s already torn it practically in half - look for yourself, Alice In Wonderland.

Quitting Your Job To Be A SAHM -
sort of, I can say…

I can say that I never want to work full-time with a child, EVER AGAIN.

My son, Grayson is currently 14 months old, he was born July 30, 2010. I went back to work 6 weeks after he was born, just 6 weeks. At the time, I wanted to be back at work. Being home all day with a newborn just wasn’t “it” for me. I yearned for the adult interaction and the sort of peace working gave me.

There I went, off to work. Honestly, I was OKAY for a while. There was so much going on – we had his christening in October, right around the corner was Thanksgiving, almost immediately after was Christmas. That was 3 major events in G’s first 5 months. We also had a lot of visitors (I live 700 miles from my family, which is another post in itself) and you can say I really didn’t have TIME to think about not being home with my bug.

In January it hit me. All the holidays had passed. All the people were done visiting. I finally had time to reflect on my circumstances. To be honest, I didn’t really like what I was reflecting on. I loved my job – but working over an hour away for 40 hours a week just wasn’t cutting it. I hated, let me rephrase, LOATHED, the fact that at times I wouldn’t make it home to see my son before he went to bed.

After much discussion, my husband and I decided that it would be beneficial for me to cut my hours at work. Possibly a 32 hour work week. It just wasn’t possible to cut my hours at my current place of employment.

A couple months after that I finally decided to take the plunge and look for another job. Ideally, something that was closer and would allow me to get home at a decent hour. One of my biggest fears was that I would take the plunge to leave and end up hating it. And then I remembered that sick feeling I would get in my stomach every Sunday just knowing that I would be out of the house all week. I knew that something HAD to change.

In what felt like forever, I finally got a bite back. A part time position, 20 minutes from my house, doing what I love. Wow, three interviews later and I got a call - I got the job. When I say I could've cried tears of happiness. I really mean I COULD HAVE CRIED TEARS OF HAPPINESS.

So here I am, three weeks into my new Part-Time SAHM/Working Part-Time. I can honestly say that I don’t ever want to work full-time ever again (at least while my child is young). I am not a very religious person, but I feel that I have been truly blessed with the opportunity I’ve been given. I love the people I work with and the work that I do. As for being home - I get to feed my child his meals. How odd a comment is that? I get to feed my child his meals? My last situation didn’t allow me to feed my child ANY of his meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were served by daycare and dad. I hate that I feel like I missed out on so much of his first year.

I know it’s such a tough road for us moms. We all want what’s best for our kids, and we have different visions of what’s best. I wish every Mom could live the situation THEY most want.

Whether it’s working, staying at home, or doing what I do – both.

My feed is not pushing out nor being pulled - - - NO Networks or Social Medias are getting posts!

I apologize for the inconveniences this may have caused within my community & prospective readers. I am working to correct the situation as quickly as I can on a Sunday afternoon with my kisddos.

Because I all of my connects appeared to be in sync with the proper feed and authorization I have decided to delete all association links, as well as revoke all access. This does revert each network page and social media program to be a stand alone for now, meaning:

CURRENTLY

Blogspot - has NOTHING authorized to pull feeds

Feedburner - is unavailable

Google - does not have associate online profile

Twitter - has no access to pull updates nor push updates

Triberr - is temporarily unassigned (unavailable)

Facebook - has no access to pull nor push updates

Networked Blogs - is temporarily unassigned (unavailable)

*any other programs are also stand alone & can't access any networks or social medias I participate in.

Luckily already published posts are working fine...

The Release Date Weekend Bloggy Bash & giveaways is running for 2 weeks.

An inspiration? Me?

I've been blogging for quite a few years now. It has always just been a hobby; an outlet for to me share photos with my friends and family. Throughout the years I have learned more and more. Recently my friend, Mercy started her blog Merciful Blessings. I told her if she had any questions I’d be glad to help, if I could. She was had questions & I was glad to help. At one point she had mentioned I was an inspiration to her. An inspiration? Me? WOW! I felt honored. I never said I knew everything, I never said I was an expert in blogging but I love sharing my knowledge. I was honored when my friend had told me she was inspired by ME. It makes me feel special hearing that I could inspire someone else. I love helping others out and if sharing haring my ideas and knowledge helps, well then by all means, sharing is caring!

Welcome Folks - Release Date Weekend is finally here!!! Say what, mid-afternoon??? I know, I know & I give you my SINCEREST APOLOGY!!! It's no surprise that I'm always running behind - hey, with 3 tweens, 2 toddlers & 1 infant it's inevitable ! That wasn't the problem though - right when I got all the kids settled so I could play "catch-up" & get things moving my internet went down. For hours!!! Really Comcast, this is happening way to frequently for my liking .

This Mommy Blogger's 1st Month -
AM I CUTTING IT???

A Mommy Blogger is someone who writes Mommy Blogs. What’s a Mommy Blog? Wikipedia defines Mommy Blogs as family and homemaking blogs which feature commentary and discussions especially about home, family, and parenting. Other blogs labeled within similar parameters are Daddy Blogs, Family Blogs, & Parent Blogs. As the mother and main author of our blogspots Merciful Blessings and Cuencstarz I’m privileged to call myself as a Mommy Blogger!

In all honesty this may be my very first go as a Mommy Blogger specifically writing from the standpoint of a mom, for moms but not as a blogger in general. Several years ago I set-up a few blogs of various topics but they never materialized. The timing just wasn’t right as mentioned in Our Creation - To Blog Or Not To Blog? And though I still don’t know what I my life is “supposed to be” I do know that it is supposed to be PERIOD. So, I have decided to have another go at this thing we call blogging, Mommy Blogging to be exact.

Now that I’ve decided to create a blog I must find a name, a mommy blog name. This task was not as easy as I thought it should be, maybe because I was scared. Scared to begin something in unfamiliar territory, scared to pigeon-whole myself into a specified “niche” and run out of things to write about, scared to fail. Is being scared reason enough to stop you in your tracks? George Clooney says, the only failure is not to try - so what do I have to lose? NOTHING! A name, oh yes, I need a name... hmmm. I knew I wanted to do this but I needed some margin, margin of flexibility. Using a name placing in one rigid category was not going to give me the flexibility I need to be comfortable enough to even start this new journey.

Our hunt began, The Name - How It Became. When Merciful Blessings evolved it was an instantaneous fit, I am truly aware and deeply sincere in the realization that my children are blessings I do not deserve.

Thus far has been simple enough, not necessarily easy but simple. Next was a platform, oh the choices or not. To have a large array of choices you need a budget, my budget - ZERO! This factor narrowed my choices but that was okay, down to two choices which have it’s plus and minuses in blogging. There was two options that seemed to be readily utilized by others, Blogger and WordPress - I chose Blogger.

Kind of surprising that I’ve gotten this far in such a short time, say what? You’ve decided to blog, picked a name & created the skeletal account - hey, if you knew my story you’d know those are great strides for me right now! But that’s for another day... on this particular day I’m at a halt! My perfectionism is ridiculously RIDICULOUS!!! I wanted my blogs planned out for a year, okay, at least for a month - on calendar! Then a fellow Mommy Blogger and Dear Friend, Melanie of Happiness Delivered {Life.Love.Inspire.} gave me a great piece of advice, “If you haven’t already, start blogging on your blog...” So after giving it some thought the publishing began!!! Everything is work in progress, right?

The Things We Do For LOVE - Deliver Dinner?

The Things We Do For LOVE -
Deliver Dinner?

Derek and I have always said monetary, tangible gifts are nice but by no means equates to LOVE. We also agree that it’s the little things that count. One would think we’d practice what we preach but not so easy with a family as large as ours. The hustle and bustle of life can put love in the passenger seat.

Today I thought I’d offer Derek something to take to work since he’s typically there during our dinner time. He declined saying a granola bar would be enough. Fine, easier for me.

Around 5:00, almost 5:30 PM the telephone rings. I knew it was him. He wished he had taken me up on my offer; he was not in the mood for cup-o-noodles.

Did I feel a little bad for him? Maybe, maybe not but I know I get really irritated when I’m hungry; especially when I’m at work. I knew what I had to do if I wanted him to know I still cared about his being.

Into the kitchen to make his dinner I went. It was a reinvention of leftovers. Hey, I had to fix him something easy and in a jiffy plus it’s what we were having.

With his dinner in-hand I got my 5 of 6 kids into the truck and off we went. Then I remembered I didn’t have his work information on me. No address, no phone number just a general idea of where it was. After a bit of scouting we found the parking lot but no building with his company name on it. Luckily there was a nice man in the parking lot who knew where it was, in a side entrance!

Two minutes later we were pulling up to his office. He must have seen us because he came out as soon as we parked. He told all the girls inside for a short tour and back home we went.

My guess is he was glad to have eaten a home-cooked meal tonight & he knows I still love him.

This scripture represents the desires I have for my children, as their mother wanting them to make the right choices. It is not to insinuate as parents we are perfect, we are not. We do have positive attributes to share with them. Their father is very caring, generous, and patient while I, their mother, am very empathetic, nurturing and protective. May we show this to them enough that they walk straight not turning to the right or the left.
