It has been so much fun to reconnect with Ashley since she & Patrick began planning their wedding last year! Although we attended the same high school when we were younger, we were a year apart, so we didn’t have the chance to get to know each other too well. After high school, I enjoyed seeing her from time to time on Carolina’s campus, which was where she happened to meet the love of her life, Patrick! These two are full of adventure and have enjoyed so many memories since their first meeting back in college – they’ve spent time abroad teaching English in Turkey, traveling throughout Europe, and now they’re exploring the Pacific Northwest together with their sweet dog, Atticus. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to travel out to Seattle for the very first time for their engagement photos earlier this month, and thanks to Ashley & Patrick (and our mutual friend, Allison, who came up from San Francisco!) I had the best weekend!

The following photos are just a few of my favorites from my time with Ashley, Patrick, and Atticus – a glimpse into their life in Seattle, with a stop at Pike Place Market and their beloved neighborhood park, Green Lake. A great, big thanks to Ashley & Patrick for bringing me to their lovely city – I cannot wait to come back!

Antonia & Mike simply couldn’t be more suited for one another, and I’m so thankful that our mutual friend, Emily, connected the three of us about a year ago. I’ve enjoyed communicating with these two over the past year, and I was finally able to meet them in person a few weeks ago when I drove down to Cambridge for their engagement photos. Antonia & Mike met each other a mere three days after they started school at Harvard, and after spending a couple of years teaching in Missouri, they decided to return to their beloved Cambridge. I had so much fun walking around Harvard’s campus, listening to them reminisce about their days on campus together!

I drove away from Allie & Josh’s engagement session a few weeks ago smiling from ear to ear, feeling quite lucky to work with such fun couples. They came up to Lincolnville from Brooklyn for the weekend to knock off a few tasks from their wedding to-do list, and to meet me for the first time for their engagement photos. After I was given a tour of Allie’s family’s home, where they’ll be getting married this summer, we took a few photos around the gorgeous property and got to know each other a bit better. (They gave me the most wonderful recommendations for restaurants & hikes in the mid-coast area, some of which we hope to try for Map & Menu soon!) Allie & Josh are so incredibly sweet and I simply cannot wait to be a part of their wedding in July!

The weather is a little depressing & dreary here in Maine today, but I’m kind of excited about the rain we’re getting. We did some yard work over the weekend, and we desperately needed some of this moisture! I am excited, however, for the rain to stop, so we can get out back again and further beautify our yard. Next on our agenda is to rebuild the raised garden bed we took down when we built the studio! (I say ‘our agenda,’ but the building part of this to-do is totally on Michael’s list!)

All of this recent gardening work reminds me of the photos I took for Map & Menu of the greenhouse at the Inn at Perry Cabin. Wouldn’t you just love to be able to tend to your plants & flowers in this beauty?

Yesterday was quite a day – in addition to the super sweet birthday messages/comments/e-mails/ that I received throughout the day, a few of my photos were featured on Brooklyn Bride and the HGTV website. What a fun birthday surprise!

I was delighted to see Nina & Hong’s engagement photos featured on Brooklyn Bride, and it’s always fun to see another image of my door desk pop up around the internet – this time, I have HGTV to thank for sharing it as inspiration!

Today I’m excited to be celebrating my twenty-sixth birthday with Michael & Orvis! We’ve already had a fantastic morning – bagels from Scratch and a trip to the beach, and we’re soon heading into the Old Port to enjoy a little lunch on this absolutely lovely day. In addition to the meal we’ll be whipping up from my new cookbook, a birthday present from Michael, I plan on treating myself to multiple birthday desserts. As far as I’m concerned, if there ever was a day that breakfast dessert (which happens to be one of my favorite guilty pleasures) was actually considered to be an acceptable adult practice, it’s today!

I hope you all have a wonderfully beautiful day and, please, enjoy something sweet for me!

On Friday afternoon Michael & I invited our friends, Julia and Sarah, over to dye Easter eggs with us. Julia joined us a couple of years ago for our first epic egg decorating party, and we’re so happy that she came along for this year’s festivities. (She even brought us the cute wooden bunnies pictured below!) Sarah, our neighborhood’s version of Martha Stewart, had us all laughing when she showed up with her craft toolbox!

Michael takes the same great care with his Easter eggs as he does his jack-0′-lanterns – these are four of my favorites from his collection!

I tried the watercolor technique I read about on one of my favorite blogs, Spoon Fork Bacon!

Our trip to the beautiful Palmetto Bluff was featured on Map & Menu this week, and reliving the memories certainly has me itching to go back. With beautiful sights like this sunrise over the May River, how could one not want to return immediately?
