Mulia Sariharjo Ngaglik Sleman Jogjakarta Indonesia I Like the one kz200 who was costumized by DartzDesign For Detail you can see the pictures below :

the guys at darizt created a new frame from the original to extend the wheel base. they also replaced the the front suspension with a yamaha fz16. the modified tank was taken from an old motorcycle from their nearest junk yard and their best guess is that it's from a zundapp.

the exhaust pipe, handle bars, saddle, and rear fender are hand made by darizt, with the forward controls and footspegs made from a bicycle's crank and bottom bracket. other parts were taken from castaway bicycles, such as cables.

the cylinder head was bored up a few centimeters and the piston was replaced with the bigger size from some honda civic from the 1980's. the carburetor was replaced with a mikuni 32mm and they men upgraded the ignition and wiring.

the front wheel runs a 120/80-18 tire and the rear is a 150/70-17.

i'd seen some pix of the bike in build stages and asked if the fender had more than 25 millimeters of travel before it hit the tire and faiz replied, "it's a stiff ride, and the fender become the victim," and he estimated that the travel can be expanded up to about 50 mm due to the adjustable shocks.

agus and faiz are working on #10, a personal project based on another kz200 for agus's brother-in-law that seems to be more of a tracker than a bobber.

KAWASAKI KZ200 CAFÉ RACER

Tradition would suggest that a café racer be based on something British, perhaps a pre-unit Triumph 650cc twin in a Norton Featherbed frame. There are only so many parts and pieces from those motorcycles around, however. And now, thanks to an increased interest in the café style of build, folks are turning to some rather pedestrian machines – such as Honda CB350s or Yamaha XS650s — as starting points.

Others, though, are becoming ever more creative in their machines of choice. Take Calgarian Al Onia. His most recent project was based on a run of the mill 1978 Kawasaki KZ200. But it turns out Onia’s reason for choosing a small-displacement Japanese single-cylinder motorcycle does have a connection to a couple of British bikes

“I’ve always loved the British machines, and always liked the Royal Enfield Continental 250,” he says. The GT Continental was based on Royal Enfield’s pushrod 250cc single-cylinder Crusader, but the GT was equipped with a sleek gas tank, clip on handlebars, rear sets and a small windscreen. It looked the part of a mini café racer, and although it got the blood up in some of the young lads, it only sold from 1965 to 1967. The other British bike Onia appreciated is the BSA 250 Starfire. Onia says, “They look clean and uncluttered, and even though they’re utilitarian they do have some style.”

Onia has been riding motorcycles since he was 14. He started out aboard a used Honda S65, purchased from Bow Cycle, and says every couple of years he’d trade up to something better, including a Honda CL72 250cc scrambler, a Hodaka Super Rat and finally a brand new Suzuki TS185 street scrambler. After that, Onia took a 20-year hiatus from bikes before jumping back into the hobby. In the early 2000s, with the luxury of a few months of early retirement, he started buying and restoring some of the bikes of his youth.

After restoring and riding a few Japanese machines, Onia decided he’d create a café racer. And although he admired the RE Continental and the BSA Starfire, he says he didn’t look too hard for one of them. “I was spoiled by the ultimate reliability of Japanese motorcycles – they were easy to get running and keep running,” he explains. “So I started looking for a small displacement Japanese bike that wouldn’t suffer too much under my customizing hand if I screwed it up.”

Onia found his ’78 KZ200 in Coeur d’Alene in the Nickel’s Worth newspaper, a classified ad resource serving the Pacific Northwest in the U.S. Upon spying the ad, Onia went online and Googled the KZ200 and liked what he saw and read. “They are different than either a Honda or Yamaha and they have a good reputation,” Onia says. He got pictures from the seller, and although the machine had been painted blue with a rattle can and there was a Harley-Davidson seat affixed, Onia decided the bike had some potential.

Kawasaki built the KZ200 from 1977 to 1985. With a SOHC 200cc single-cylinder powerplant and five-speed gearbox, the KZ200 was marketed as a small displacement street cruiser. One can only imagine how many ‘cyclists have learned to ride aboard just such a machine.

He completed the deal for $550 without actually seeing the motorcycle up close, but he was comforted by the fact that the owner still had the original papers and all of the parts he’d taken off the Kawasaki during his ownership. Onia filed his paperwork with Canada Customs and drove to Coeur d’Alene to pick up the KZ200. Everything went smoothly coming back across the border with his purchase, and Onia had the bike home in the fall of 2008.

He says he had formed a mental picture of what he wanted the bike to look like when he was done with it, and that was a simple and clean little café racer. With only 4,500 miles on the odometer, Onia says the KZ200 ran fine, and he didn’t have to pay much attention to the health of the engine, apart from cleaning the carburetor and changing the oil.

Onia didn’t want to put on rear sets or lower the handlebar with a set of clip ons. Instead, he fitted a drag bar with a minimal pull back, and that helps retain a more upright riding position as opposed to the crouch adopted by many other café racer motorcycles. The Harley-Davidson saddle was promptly removed, and Onia restored the stock Kawasaki seat pan before conferring with his upholsterer about how best to build the classic ‘bum stop’ seat pad.

A small fairing to fit a six inch headlight was located and purchased at motorcycle wrecker TJ’s Cycle in Calgary. With the fairing fitted to the Kawasaki it became apparent that the large lollipop signal lights that are prevalent on the Japanese motorcycles of the period could not be retained. Instead, Onia installed a set of Lockhart Phillips turn signals, and these units helped tidy up both the front and back of the machine. Taillight is the stock unit, as are the instruments, hand and foot controls, fuel tank and side panels. Even the muffler – with its slight megaphone pretension – is the stock unit. Wheels and spokes were cleaned up, and a set of Duro tires installed.

What’s not stock on this Kawasaki is the paint. Onia says he’d always wanted a yellow motorcycle, and decided the KZ200 would look good in a coat of Corvette Millennium Yellow, a hue Onia says is identical to Ducati yellow. To complete the look, he found a roll of chequered flag decals at a local hobby shop, and applied the trim to the fairing and the centre of the gas tank.

At 5’7” and 140 lbs., Onia isn’t a big man. The riding position and size of the Kawasaki suits him perfectly. “I’m the ideal size to be on a bike like that,” he says. “It’s easy to handle, and I ‘m a small guy so it’s not lugging a lot of weight.” He rides the KZ200 regularly on the local back roads, and will tour 160 to 200 miles at a go – just not on the Trans Canada. “That would be disconcerting, even though it will do 60 to 65 mph all day long.”

How to Troubleshoot a Kawasaki KZ200

  Insert the key into the ignition turn the key and see if the lights turn on. The KZ2000 does not have an electronic ignition but still needs a battery. If the lights do not come on, remove the battery and check to see if the battery is holding a charge. If not, recharge the battery or replace it.

  Turn the kick start out and try to start the bike. If the bike does not start, confirm the "Kill" switch is turned to the "Run" position. Check the fuel switch and confirm the switch is set to the main fuel tank. Confirm that is gas in the fuel tank. If the KZ200 still will not start remove the single spark plug from the engine and inspect the spark plug looking for cracks in the ceramic top of the plug. Replace if necessary.

  Inspect the chain on the KZ200 motorbike. If the chain has excessive play or appears loose, consult with a mechanic or bring the motorcycle to a repair facility to have the chain shortened or tightened. Riding a motorbike with a loose chain can be dangerous.

Many people are crazy about bikes and for them it does not count the number of bikes they have. This craze gives them the possession of some of the most adorable bikes, in the motorcyclist community you will find a group of people who love their bikes to be responding to the basics. They are the persons who love to ride bikes that are powerful , fast and just have the essentials. Further chopper have a unique styling statement to them. Choppers are created by taking an existing bike or an ew bike tearing them apart and creating a bike which is on their own terms and specifications; this is how the creation of choppers takes place. To define choppers, is obviously a difficult task,choppers are fairly flexible customized motorcycles which do not possess anything else other than what is required for it go- from windshields and mirrors to the brakes and the speedometers.

As far as the history of chopper is concerned, the choppers were developed after the Second World War. The former soldiers wanted the motorcycles like the one’s they drove during the war, so they brought bikes and modified them according to the one’s they had during the war times. The bikes that they built were like the ones wherein the front fender were taken off from the bikes and the rear fender came into two sections and the soldiers just took off the rear most portion. The new shorter fenders were called as bobbed fenders and the people who used the bikes after such modifications were referred to as bobbers. After this there were radical changes in the bikes or to the choppers, there was a state wherein many of the people would strip every piece of the bike and rebuild it strip by strip. Building a chopper requires lots of knowledge about the engineering of the bikes. They fabricated the different parts including the exhaust pipes or gas tank so that they could feel the experience of their self designed bikes. It was at this stage that the people began to call these bikes as choppers because they had chopped each and every part of the bike and created something new. In the 1960’s and 1970’s some of the movies like the "The Wild One" and the "Easy rider" featured these choppers and thus the choppers were in the limelight. It was after this that the nation saw many chopper enthusiasts , the crazy bikers almost spent about months and several weeks to design their customized bikes and all for various needs like comfort, touring, speed and even to create the styling statement.In the 1980s the motorcycle companies also began to offer the customized bikes or the choppersbased on some of the most popular designs. But after the economic recession the culture of choppersso its decline but how long the crazy bike users can survive in 1990 again there were many companies offering many different varieties of choppers. In this recent days the choppers new creation really rocks.

Motorcycle Group Riding Signals - Let your fellow riders know what's going on

It is still motorcycle safety Awareness Month so I am still bent on making you aware of safety and motorcycles.
Hand signals play a large part in motorcycle riding if you are riding in a group (unless you have those handy helmet radios). As the “leader of the pack”, they are a great way of letting everyone behind you know what is going on and what to watch out for.

The signals are somewhat universal but I’ve thrown in some illustrated guides in this post to help you out. When riding in a group, your members can decide on which ones work best for you.

This motorcycle is a Cruiser type from Kawasaki. With big engine capacity about 1300cc.

Eliminator

The Kawasaki Eliminator is a cruiser-type motorcycle that has been produced in several variants since its introduction in 1985 as the ZL900. Currently billed as a "power cruiser", the first two incarnations of the bike, namely the 1985 and 1986 ZL900 models, were in fact almost street replicas of a drag style bike, featuring shaft drive, very short gearing and forward seating with a handlebar that barely qualified as legal. The motor for both of these machines was in fact the same motor available in the 900cc Ninja of the same year, albeit with slightly different exhaust and intake configurations. These were, and remain, two of the highest performing straight line un-cowled motorcycles to be sold to the public.

Kawasaki Z900/Z1

The Z1 Kawasaki was a motorcycle introduced in 1972 by Ka wasaki Heavy Industries. It has been described as the world's first superbike, but that term is probably better applied to Honda's CB750, which introduced the four-cylinder, across the frame, disc-braked layout.

Kawasaki KZ750 (Twin)

Produced for model year 1983, the Kawasaki KZ750 L3 was very similar to the 1982 Gpz750. This is the year during which the Gpzs made the jump towards "sportbikes", while the KZ line branched off as "sport cruisers". This model can be distinguished by the three horizontal stripes along the gas tank and tailpiece, orange, red and yellow, and the lack of fairing typical on GPZ bikes of the same era. The Kawasaki inline-four engines are considered very robust and reliable. Therefore, this motorcycle, and others with similar engines, are sought after for their rideability and repairability.

What are Bobber Style?

Sometimes We get bored with the standard style motorcycle. it occurred to me to modify it, but at a cost that is not too high. And not too long in the process. In other words, something simple but has artistic value and functionality of a motorcycle.

After the style to suit my taste, my choice finally fell on Bobber style.

What are Bobber Style?

A bobber is a motorcycle that usually has had the front fender removed, the rear fender "bobbed" or made smaller and all superfluous items removed to make it lighter. _[Wikipedia]

Bobber choppers are distinguished from regular choppers because their fenders have either been shortened or entirely removed. Bobbing (or removing) the fenders is one of the first things that a custom chopper builder considers to make an ordinary bike look like a true chopper.

Bobbers are related to choppers in that they represent a minimalistic approach where the motorcycle is stripped of parts or accessories not needed but bobbers generally leaving the characteristics of the stock frame.

The principal difference between a bobber and chopper is that bobbers are typically built around unmodified frames. Chopper frames are often cut and welded into shape. Bobbers also often lack most of the chopper's aesthetic characteristics such as chromed parts and elongated forks. Thus, bobbers are fairly easy to create from stock motorcycles and are generally hand built.

The term chopper started to be used from the late 1960s onwards, a movement inspired the Peter Fonda movie "Easy Rider", for motorcycles whose frames had been customized to have a greater angle at which the front suspension protruded with smaller fuel tanks and tall handlebars called ape hangers. For many owners, the difference between bobbers and choppers doesn't come down to what's on the motorcycle but what isn't on it and whether it has a short front end or a long front end, stretched suspension defining it is a chopper.

Whereas customized motorcycles can be extremely expensive, bobber builders tend to adopt an economical approach involving old, second hand, recycled parts and hand machined items redolent of the period before the mass-market motorcycle accessory industry had developed.

Before all of merzymania going to Bali ride to attending the Bali Merzy Rendezvous in December I will give you suggestion how to Preparing For a Long Ride

Word of warning: This ride is an endurance trip, not a race. You get no prize for taking less than the allotted time.

Let's do a little math. 1500 miles divided by 24 hours equals 62.5 miles per hour. Now that's not an unreasonable speed, and maybe once you could average that if you got a good night's sleep beforehand, and arranged to end the 24 hours before it got dark. Pretty hard to do, and out of the question if you want to do more than one in a row. (Yes, some very healthy, tough, insane folks attempt the three of these rides on three consecutive days.)

So let's give ourselves a little sleep, shall we? 1500 divided by a long day in the saddle, 18 hours, gives 83.3 mph. That's your average, not counting gas and potty breaks. That means you want to pick your highways pretty carefully, lest you receive any performance awards (bikerspeak for speeding ticket) and their attendant delays. What if we compromise and do a really long day, say 20 hours on the road? The average becomes more reasonable at 75 mph. You should be able to get away with that on a lot of open interstates Not too many empty roads.

That leads me to the Three Phases of the Long Ride.

Permission, Preparation, and Production.

Phase One-Permission. (nb-if you're a woman rider, please change all the gender references that follow.) You will not complete this ride without some kind of support group. Unless you're leaving your wife for good, I suggest that you need her support. Moral support, and maybe logistical. Presumably she's your most loyal fan, and more willing to help out than others would be, especially if it calls for weird hours. My motorcycle was a birthday gift from my dear sweet wife, so I have a pretty good start on the permission angle.

You should take her needs into account. Get yourself some really good insurance for the trip, but don't make too big a deal about it. This is to help her over the hump if you mangle yourself; it is not a way to persuade her to let you do it. Unless you're having the problems I alluded to above. Have a serious talk, and find out her actual worries. Your wife is the best person in the world for knowing your weaknesses, and if she has any worries, those are your most important preparation tasks. If she's worried about you being eaten by rattlesnakes if you sleep on the ground next to your bike, arrange to crash (metaphorically) with someone in a motorcycle club. Promise to observe your body's tiredness signals, and describe them to her, so she'll know you're not bluffing. Show her the route. Promise to call. Do some practice trips; get her used to the idea-whatever she needs. They will turn out to be things you also need. Do them, and you, the ride, and she will all be happier. I'll get into some of these things in more detail later, because they fall into the preparation category. A ride is more likely to succeed with a cheering squad at home.

Phase two-Preparation Preparation has three parts-you, your bike, and your logistics, not necessarily in that order.

Logistics: If you want proof that you really rode 1500 miles in 24 hours, If you are is called an extreme ride, You need to have someone (not you), say that you actually started on the ride, and actually finished. Doesn't have to be the same person on both ends of the ride, and doesn't have to be an member of KZ200 clubs, but your witnesses do have to sign the form and be willing to answer a phone call from the Clubs about the ride.

Bike: You're riding a Kawasaki KZ200 or similar touring bike with . Do not attempt this ride on a crotch rocket. Have someone who knows your type of bike give the bike a thorough going-over. And have him do the repairs he suggests. Motorcycles, good as they are, are not as dependable as cars. Sorry, but them's the facts. You can pretty well count on most cars nowadays going 100K miles with nothing but an occasional oil change. Not so motorcycles, even KZ200's. You're about to put a lot of stress on that bike, and nothing ruins a good ride like an unexpected breakdown. Except an accident, but that's different. If you put on new tires, put a couple hundred miles on them before the ride. Gets the manufacturing oil off. If your mechanic's checkup involves any new parts, ride a while to be sure everything's okay, and you're comfortable with the changes. Same thing with new accessories. You want to be sure that new tank bag doesn't have a tendency to slide left all the time. the issue of carrying extra gasoline. An auxiliary tank can reduce the number of stops. Plan out the ride, and include alternatives to your route. Print out maps. Memorize the route. Calculate where you might stop for gas. Program the GPS. Print maps even if you have a GPS. Do not depend on the GPS. Figure out the timing so you're not going through major metro areas during rush hour. If something happens that ends the ride prematurely, you might still have a Saddlesore in there. That's a decent consolation prize. Plan alternative start dates, If you get unexpected bad weather, it's okay to start a day later.

Some helmets have a venting system which will keep air flowing in and a quick switch face shield so you can easily switch from a clear to a tinted shield. Ensure that the fit is snug enough such that the helmet can not be turned when it's on your head.

Gear - Protective leather is the most highly recommended material for riding apparel as it is stronger, moderately flexible and much tougher than others. Protective leather for motorcycle gear such as jackets and pants is usually pre-tested for impact abrasion, cut, tear and burst resistance. The jacket is also usually fitted with heavy padding on the spine, elbow and shoulder regions to provide added protection in the event of an accident. Some gloves come with carbon fiber for knuckle protection, while boot heels are designed to fit on the bike's footrests so as to provide ankle support.

Maintenance - Regular maintenance and occasional servicing will ensure that your motorcycle remains safe for both you and your passengers. Ask the dealer's mechanic to teach you how to change the oil, filters and brakes. Learn how to lubricate the bike's chain and check fluid levels.

Riding with a passenger - It's advisable to have enough solo riding experience before carrying a pillion. When you're ready, try practicing in a low-traffic area with an experienced passenger weighing 50kg or less to get a feel for how a motorcycle handles with two people on it. Once you feel comfortable enough to take on a passenger, remember the following:

• If required, modify the suspension to handle the additional weight of your passenger and be sure to add the recommended amount of air to your tires.

• Give complete instructions before you start off even if your passenger is an experienced rider. To help communicate during the journey you may want to devise some signals beforehand such as a tap on the leg could mean "hold on tighter" or should your pillion need you to slow down, a firm squeeze around your middle can signal that.

• Always provide your passenger with a helmet.

• Raise the stand, securely brace the bike, start it and point it in the direction you want to go then have your passenger get on.

• Ask your passenger to sit as far forward as possible without crowding you. He should then hold tightly around your waist and stay directly behind you, leaning as you lean and avoiding any unnecessary motion that could affect your ability to safely control the motorcycle.

• Instruct your passenger to keep both feet on the footrests at all times.

• Adjust to the passenger's weight. Notice that the extra heaviness changes the way the motorcycle balances, turns, speeds up and slows down. Operate at a lower speed particularly on curves or bumps and start slowing down earlier than usual when approaching a stoplight.
