mickey mouse club house

2012-05-11T12:23:00.000-07:00

Every March break for the last 9 years my family has packed up the car and traveled south to the cheesiest, happiest, disney-est place in all of America, the home of mickey mouse and what I now consider my home as well, Orlando Florida. This trip the highlight of my year every year, allows me to indulge in complete nostalgia for about a full week before I have enter back into reality. One of my favorite places in the world, this city filled with the tackiest souvenir shops, best amusement parks and coolest themed restaurants/museums/hotels and the like brings me a certain happiness that makes me revert back to the six year old version of myself dying of excitement on my first trip to disney, rocking it in a pair of red overalls,a hair wrap, buck teeth and minnie mouse ears.

Its only been two months since I left this haven of magical goodness but developing these pictures has made me start a 10 month countdown till next years visit.

Fashion Done by.... Betty and Veronica?

2012-04-27T09:43:00.004-07:00

Betty and Veronica the original frenemies, brought an element of drama and excitement every time I went to the grocery store. Making sure I picked up the newest Archie comic by the cashiers before I cruised with my parents around the grocery store for an hour, I ended up with an insane collection of these wonderfully entertaining comic books. A borderline hoarder size collection. That led to a religious following of their pseudo Scooby Doo show, Archies Weird Mysterys. But there was just so much to these comic books, with their excerpts of mini series like Josie and the Pussycats and Lil Jinx, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Ginger, not to mention the awesome Lisa Frank ads that would almost always pop up in between comics offering a wide array of the coolest and most colorful school supplies around. The awesome characters with their complicated friendships and constantly interweaving romances were enough to keep a 10 year old version of myself completely drawn in, maybe so much so that I was completed blinded to how crazily awesome the cartoonist was at giving Betty and Veronica the coolest wardrobe ever. Sitting bored at work and stumbling my life away I was totally surprised by a random tumblr that popped up that was completely dedicated to the many fashions of the infamous duo, and going through it i realized just how deserving they were of their own tumblr. As the title of my newest fashion idols goes to Betty and Veronica, I feel that I can now justify my obsession and reaffirm my choice in always being a Veronica girl.

Next time I make it home to Toronto its time to make use of my obscene collection, I guess stashing them away until my 20's was totally worth and not a waste of space, despite what my parents say.

This American Thunder Bird head piece made by Vintage Virgin is a dream come true.

I have had a strong fascination with the stunning shape of the Native bird for quite some time

and after seeing this absolutely stunning head piece am realizing how badly I need something like it in my obsessive collection.

forbidden valley

2012-03-16T21:19:00.000-07:00

With one day left in the orange state I figured I'd spend my time wisely, using the beautiful scenery and sunshine to my advantage as I tried out styling and fashion photography for the first time, mixing film and digital.

Here's a little preview of my attempt. I'll be posting the rest in a couple of days.

Hope you enjoy!
