The new drug called cabazitaxel was investigated in the TROPIC trial that included 755 advanced prostate cancer patients who have failed 1st line docetaxel chemotherapy.  Half of the patients in the trial received combination of cabazitaxel and prednisone while the other half received mitoxantrone and prednisone.

After one year of treatment, men in the cabazitaxel arm had an overall median survival of 15.1 months, compared to 12.7 months among men in the mitoxantrone arm. Patients who received the combination treatment with cabazitaxel also experienced a significant increase in median progression-free survival, 2.8 months vs. 1.4 months. Note that cabazitaxel was also associated with a 30 percent reduced risk of dying.

Like other chemotherapies, cabazitaxel was associated with side-effects such as low white blood cells (81.7%), low white blood cells with fever (7.5%), diarrhea (6.2%) and infections (10.2%).

Types of leukemia:

Leukemia is divided into four types:

- Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) most commonly diagnosed in children, ALL, causes death and damage to cells. It is caused when early lymphoid precursors grow to replace the normal and essential hematopoietic stem cells (cells responsible for the renewal of blood). 
Acute, Wikipedia states, refers to the relatively short time course of the disease, i.e. being fatal in as little as a few weeks. 
- Acute myelogenous leukemia, a.k.a acute myeloid leukemia (AML), most commonly diagnosed in adults, is when the bone marrow develops abnormal blast cells that do not perform their function (fighting infection). AML, however, could also cause abnormality in red blood and platelets as well. A common cause is down syndrome. 
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), always diagnosed in adults, starts with the change of a cell called the lymphocyte. People with CLL experience accumulation of incompetent/abnormal lymphocytes that cannot fight infection. CLL gets worse slowly, unlike the two types of leukemia listed above. 
- Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), mainly diagnosed in adults, is rarely spread in societies, effecting approximately 4,800 people per year. CML is caused when blood stem cells develop into an abnormal type of white blood cell called the granulocytes. These cells crowd normal mature cells (e.g. red blood cells, platelets) and make it hard for them to function. 

Symptoms:

1) Tiring more easily, fever and night sweat
2) Uneven breathing
3) Weight loss due to loss of appetite 
4) Infection due to inability of white blood cells to fight pathogens
5) Easy bleeding and bruising due to dysfunction of platelets 
6) Blurred vision 

How to diagnose leukemia?

Doctors diagnose leukemia by a number of blood tests -e.g. cytogenic analysis, complete blood count- to indicate the quantity of blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets) present in the body. 
Some people are diagnosed with the sickness after looking at a number of leukemia symptoms. Often, the most common symptoms are easy bleeding and infections. People with leukemia can sometimes bleed and lose a lot of blood for no reason.

How to treat leukemia?

Leukemia is not easily treated. Like any cancer, patients need to undergo chemotherapy. They lose all their hair and are at risk of death-threatening side-effects. Its even hard knowing that people with leukemia have a weak immunity and anything can affect them negatively.

There is definitely no need to buy professional soap making molds when fun and inexpensive alternatives are readily available.

One of my favorite ideas for creating unique soap molds is forming circular soap out of PVC pipe. Not only does it create a great looking finished product, but this soap molding method is also extremely simple to put into practice.

Creating a PVC soap mold requires 5 pieces of equipment which includes: PVC pipe, a cutting board, a funnel, a ladle and freezer paper.

So what are the steps? Once you are ready to pour your initial soap into its mold, place the PVC pipe vertically on the end of the cutting board. Be sure that all the edges are firmly placed against the wood and held there with a decent amount of force. After all, you wouldn't want soap running out of the bottom!

Now place the funnel into the pipes opening for easy pouring. Make absolute sure that you use a funnel made out of silicon or stainless steel as this early stage soap will be extremely caustic and harsh. Never use plastic equipment of any sort. Once the soap has time to cure, the ph levels will drastically change resulting in a mild skin care cleanser, but for now, you need to be a little bit careful.

Next, begin transferring the soap from the pot into the PVC pipe using your ladle. Again, you need to make sure that the scooper is also made out of the proper materials. Never fill the PVC pipe all the way to the brim as the soap will expand during the curing process. I personally recommend that you leave about 3 inches at the top.

Cover the opened area of the PVC pipe with freezer paper using rubber bands to secure it in place. This will help keep the heat trapped inside the mold.

Now it's time to insulate your soap even further. Take old blankets or large towels that you don't mind ruining and thoroughly wrap the outside of the mold. Be as liberal as possible. I recommend using about 7 - 10 towels or 4 blankets. It's important that the heat caused by the soap making reaction dissipates as slowly as possible in order for proper curing to occur.

Patience is crucial for the cold process soap maker as you must now wait about 72 hours for the soap to harden. Keep in mind that once it's hard, it is still too caustic to use as it is not fully cured yet.

Slip the soap out of the PVC pipe and Cut it into bars of approximate even width. If you find that removing the soap from this unique soap mold is difficult, you can either use a jar to help push it out or place the soap in the freezer to make it contract.

Lay your new bars on a rack to cure allowing air to circulate around it. Be sure to flip them every few days. After 6 - 8 weeks, you are ready to test PH levels and use your new all natural skin care product!Visit here http://plumbingsupply-copperorg.blogspot.com

Diabetes: People who are dependent on external insulin have 40% more chances of developing the colorectal cancer.

Inactive life style: People who lead an active life style are at a lower risk of developing cancer of the colon. Good and regular exercise has always lowered the risk of developing any kind of disease. Sedentary life style increases your risk of developing colorectal cancer.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): People who are suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease develop ulcers and colitis in the colon. This can further lead to Crohns disease, thereby increasing the risk of colorectal cancer.

Obesity: People who tend to put on more weight than the recommended weight for their body are called obese. Obese people are more prone to colorectal cancer than the people who are slim.

Virus: Exposure to some strains of viruses like human papilloma virus is believed to cause colorectal cancer.

"For patients with colorectal cancer it is important to detect the mutated gene so the right treatment can be prescribed. The results with new biologic treatments can prove to be very beneficial to the patient, as was seen in John's case," says Dr. Hagen Kennecke, medical oncologist and clinician researcher at the British Columbia Cancer Agency. "The decisions made by some provinces to include the medication in their health care plans, is a step in the right direction for cancer care in Canada."

John was immediately put on a biologic agent with encouraging results. "Since being on this new biologic drug, my overall health is improving; the cancer levels are decreasing, my energy levels are rising, my appetite is coming back and today I feel better than I have in a long time" says John.

John's battle is far from over, but cancer has taught him some valuable lessons both on life and on battling cancer. Not only is he now well-versed on the different chemotherapy treatments, their names and side-effects, but he also recognizes the importance of having access to the newest treatment options. Currently, less than half of Canadian provinces have included third-line treatments for colorectal cancer on the list of medications covered by provincial health care plans.

Most importantly, John has learned that a positive attitude and a passion for life are key in battling cancer. John continues to work at Best Buy Head Office, enjoys being surrounded by family and friends, and plans to travel for his spouse's upcoming 40th birthday. Cancer may have attacked his body, but it did not attack his spirit.
