If you are looking for a waterjet or already have waterjet cutting applications, this is a must see. If you have done any research on waterjet cutting pumps you probably quickly learned that an intensifier pump is the only way to go. The intensifier pump offers much lower operating costs, quick rebuild times, and faster cutting.

But wait, now you have a very large electric pump pumping extremely large volumes of hydraulic oil all the time, and it take large amounts of water to keep the system cool. TECHNI has this all figured out.

Check out the Electric Servo Intensifier Pump. All electric, still an intensfier but now it only has one gallon of oil. Yes, one gallon. The system runs much cooler so less cooling water goes down the drain. It only runs when you are cutting, so the electric use is a fraction of a typical hydraulic pump system. And talk about quiet, this unit is so quiet you hardly know it’s cutting.

Now, think about fast rebuild times. Check out this video to see just how little time a rebuild takes. (Sorry direct drive guys, YouTube has a time limit that prevents you from showing your rebuild in real time.)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqf6hNwz3cc

If you already have a waterjet system from someone else and are tired of the operation cost, expensive rebuilds, and noise, the Quantum pump can be retrofitted to any waterjet cutting system.

TECHNI has sold hundreds of these over the last two years with excellent results and happy customers.

Who is TECHNI? They are:

The first to build a 60 degree tilting head waterjet.

The first to build a garnet hopper that can be filled while cutting.

The first with Tech-Sense to monitor garnet flow.

The first with the Quantum Electric Servo Intensifier Waterjet pump.

TECHNI has just released a newly updated waterjet cutting system that is full of features all for under $140,000. The system is not stripped down like competitors’ systems. This unit comes with a 5×10 cutting table, 40hp pump, garnet hopper, software, Tech-Sense (very cool), installation, and training. Just add water and garnet. Another really cool feature is that you can grow with it. Buy the standard system and, as your business grows, you can add more options down the road.

This new machine is still built by TECHNI Waterjet. Compare this to our competitors and you’ll find that they simply bought a low cost system from a foreign supplier and slapped their stickers on it.

TECHNI’s headquarters are located in Kansas so service and parts are centrally located.

Who is TECHNI? They were the first with Tech-Sense (don’t know how you could cut without it), first with a full 60-degree bevel head, first with an all electric servo pump (planning to write a full post on this, stay tuned), and the first with a garnet hopper that can be filled while cutting (this hopper can be used on any waterjet table).

Give us a call to learn more about why TECHNI is the fastest growing waterjet company in the industry.

This is a very popular question. The answer depends on several things…

How large are your sheets? What is the type and thickness of material you are cutting? Do you need automation?

Without discussing your particular application, I will provide a basic price range as food for thought:

A basic TRUMPF TruLaser 1030, 5 x 10 laser with a 2500 watt resonator (which will cut 80% of the parts out there) costs about $335,000 US dollars.

From there you go up in wattage, features, and price. I would say that a vast majority of our laser sales are in the neighborhood of $650,000 and nearer to $1 million with automation. I know this is a wide range but this is why you need to contact us so we can talk further about your particular situation. At Icon, we have an advantage in that we sell multiple lines that offer different cutting methods. We compare waterjet, plasma, punching, laser, etc. to offer you the best solution for your specific application.

Oh yeah, and there are different laser resonators…best to read one of my other posts.

As another industry first from Peddinghaus, the PeddiWriter does the work of an entire team of layout personnel, and minimizes the potential for human error. Featuring four surface detail layout marking and two hypertherm Arc Writer torches, the Peddinghaus PeddiWriter can mark two surfaces simultaneously. The Peddinghaus Roller Measurement is incorporated into the machine for total flexibility and accuracy when layout marking. Plus, the modular design of all Peddinghaus equipment allows the PeddiWriter to be easily integrated into your existing Peddinghaus system design.

We have already sold several of these machines and the positive response from customers is overwhelming. We all know how difficult it can be to have someone, much less a team of people, layout out a beam accurately and quickly. Automation is key today to reduce mistakes and to increase production. If you do any kind of structural steel fabrication for buildings, truck bodies, rail industry, or agriculture this may be a huge time and money savings system to add to your shop.

To learn more, give us a call or plan a visit to the Peddinghaus factory in Bradley, IL.

The reason is the one micron beam travels through coatings as though they’re not there. The beam attempts to cut the material but it leaves the coating intact. Thus, the assist gas cannot clean out the kerf.

Novacel has been working with TRUMPF to develop a new coating that solves this issue. Click the link below for more information.

So you’ve made this perfect part, bent it, welded it, and given it a really nice paint job. Then your customer calls and says the paint is coming off. What happened?

First, did you properly clean the edge? With laser cutting you can use nitrogen as an assist gas to clean cut the edge of your parts, but that adds cost and slows down your cutting. With the excessive heat created in making parts on a plasma, you will need to grind the edges or use an acid bath to clean the edges. Grinding and using an acid bath are not fun jobs and the environmental issues are crazy.

One great solution is to use an oxide removal machine, specifically, the Lissmac Oxide removal machine. In ONE pass this machine removes the oxide. Competitive machines require you to flip the part to remove all the oxide. By using oxygen to cut, you can process faster and cheaper than by using nitrogen as an assist gas. In most cases, customers are able to justify the cost of the Lissmac oxide removal machine in nitrogen savings alone.

Well, what if you don’t have an oxide issue? Another cause may be that your high quality laser cut that you are so proud of is leaving an almost perfect 90 degree edge and the paint is not adhering to that sharp edge. Lissmac has the solution: a machine that rounds the edges of parts so that the paint adheres like never before. It also aids in welding and makes your parts look outstanding. Some customers will run two machines in tandem for the ultimate part finish.

Lastly, have you tried shop air cutting with your laser? This trick may solve it all on mild steel parts up to around 10ga (we have some customers exceeding that thickness). Also, sometimes you will achieve a very small burr that actually aids in the gripping effect of the paint.
