Neizbezhnost signs to Metal For A Dark World Records

August 2011: Neizbezhnost, the popular black metal band from the Ukraine, has signed with Metal For A Dark World Records to release their debut full-length album "Would It Be Reasonable" due in October 2011.

States Brian Hendricks from Metal For A Dark World: "We are very happy and pleased to announce that for our first release we will be working with Neizbezhost from the Ukraine, who's style of black metal is classic yet modern, haunting and chilling yet punishing. The new CD will contain 10 tracks of black metal fury as well as come with a 16 page full-color booklet containing English lyrics, which will be great for those whose primary language is English, as the recording contains the lyrics sung in Russian. Are You Feeling Lonely?

Are You Feeling Lonely? Down in the dumps? Sick of it all? Just plain frustrated with how things are going?

Yeah, me too! The past few years I have felt this way alot. That's why I am writing today's blog, so that if you are feeling this way, maybe my comments and suggestions can help YOU deal with these feelings.

All of the aforementioned feelings, loneliness, frustration, even anger, can lead to something much worse if not properly dealt with...bitterness. Bitterness can destroy your life, ruin your relationships, hurt you in your professional career, cause health issues, and even worse, lead you down a path of self-destruction trying to cope, whether it be use of alcohol or drugs, or just wanting to "end it all now". Yeah. I've been there, and admit it, so have you!

What you can do to help work through these issues in a positive way:

1. Talk to someone!!! Whether or not it's a friend on the phone, in person, Internet chat, or a professional, talk to someone and DO NOT HOLD IT ALL IN! Holding everything in and not talking to anyone is unhealthy as things will build up over time, and everyone eventually has a "breaking" point, or a point in which they cannot deal with it all anymore.

2. Get involved in a support group. There are all kinds of support groups out there you can attend in person (best) or online virtually. We as humans need interaction with other humans, so we cannot just close ourselves off from the world. Most support groups won't judge you but rather listen and share their similar situations and how they found ways to cope.

The next 2 items are of a spiritual nature. I don't consider myself a "religious man" per se, as I'm not a regular church goer, but I believe very strongly in a relationship with Jesus Christ, and without these next 2 steps, I would have been dead 11 years ago!

3. Prayer. Prayer to who or whom you may ask. Prayer to the Holy God, creator, who is also His Son, Jesus Christ, who was sent here to earth to die and pay for our debts of evil in our lives. Through the Blood of Jesus, we can be forgiven of our evil past and sins of the future. However, 1) you must believe and 2) you must ask for this gift, repent and accept Jesus as YOUR Lord and Savior. Only through this means you will have eternal life and only through this way will you be able to pray and proceed to step #4. What should I pray after that you ask? Start with Luke 11:2-4 in the Holy Bible (any version).

4. Hand over or give all of your problems, anger, frustrations, loneliness to Jesus Christ. In the Holy Bible, in the new Testament in 1 Peter 5:7, it simply states (Amplified Bible)

"Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

Jesus cares about you, so let Him know what you are going through and experiencing. You will feel the weight of these issues lifted off of your shoulders as He takes on your burden so you don't have to carry it yourself. He will then, through the Holy Spirit that lives inside you, provide you comfort and will direct your path moving forward.

You don't have to be alone, nor do you have to carry your burdens all by yourself!

There is a song from 1984 by a band called Stryper called "You Know What To Do". The chorus sings "Are you feeling lonely? And are you feeling blue? Does your life seem empty? You know what to do!"

So there you have it. You don't have to be lonely. You don't have to be frustrated, full of anger nor full of bitterness.

You know what to do......but what you do is up to you!

You see, even under grace it does matter what you do with your life. Don't waste your life is the message of God to us. We need to be gripped by the reality that choices we make have consequences both now and for eternity.

Only our sins are forgiven and forever forgotten by God - wasted lives are not forgotten, rather they are remembered and dealt with by God at Christ's Bema Seat.

Martin Luther lived by a motto he often repeated:

"I have but two days in my calendar - Today, and the Day I stand before Christ."

Christ's coming simply reveals what people have been all the time. For us as believers, Paul tells us that when we stand before Christ "each man's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it" (1 Corinthians 3:13).

Remember, the One who has planned the End from the Beginning has told us what will happen in the days ahead, and this is His Plan for History.

A Historical Perspective on Thrash Metal through the eyes of a 12 year old boy

The Year: 1982. I remember it clearly. I was listening to college radio, WJCU 88.7 FM on either a Friday or Saturday night. Friday and Saturday nights are the nights when they played the heavy metal shows. No, not Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Slade, Night Ranger, Journey or Kiss like they played on commercial radio. I'm talking real metal like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Malice, Black 'N Blue, Black Sabbath and other NWOBHM bands.

I honestly can't remember which DJ it was, either Bill Peters, who started Auburn Records in Cleveland which is still around: http://www.auburnrecords.com) and his Metal on Metal radio show, which is also still going strong to this day on Friday nights on WJCU, or Mitch Capka and his Etched In Steel radio show. It was almost 30 years ago after all. But I remember it well, the DJ, either Bill or Mitch, came on the air and had started playing a new band from Canada, called Exciter. They were fast, I believe they were calling it power metal (later changed to speed metal). I just remember it was fast and furious, faster than anything I had heard before and I loved it! I can't even remember the name of the song. But I dug it!

A few months later, again listening to the college radio station, it was right around midnight, and they said that they were going to play a new song by this really heavy new band, the heaviest band they had heard yet. In fact, I believe that it became a ritual after that, every either Friday or Saturday night at the beginning of the show, the show would kick off with this song. It was tradition. Oh, the name of the song you ask? It was called "Hit The Lights" from a band called Metallica. It was on a compilation album by a new record label called Metal Blade Records and produced by this guy named Brian Slagel. Ever heard of Metal Blade? Everything changed after that song on that night. I absolutely loved it and had to hear more of it!

There was no internet back then. So how do you get more information on a song, a band, a record (yes, vinyl), especially when you're 12 years old and do not have a driver's license yet? Well, I know what I did. I went to the local record store by the mall (it was called Midway Mall, not sure why). It was about a 25-30 minute bike ride from my home. No, I didn't have a chain to lock my bike up, back then we didn't really worry about stuff like that.

So, to the record store one Saturday I went. I do not remember the name of the store. It was not inside the mall (like the Camelot Music "chain" store), but it was outside the mall in a small building in a little strip mall area in the Midway Mall parking lot. I'm pretty sure it was an independent record store. I remember getting to the store, and waiting in line, and finally getting up to the front of the line so I could ask the questions that so desperately needed to be answered.

"And how may I help you?" the guy standing behind the cash register asked me. I quickly responded "Where can I get that metal album, the one with that band, um, Metallica I think?". "Metal i who?" he asked me? Again, I quickly responded "You know, that band that was on the radio last week, 88.7 FM, really fast, really heavy , it was cool! The guy on the radio said it's on some sort of a comp record or something? I don't know what that is, but I want to get it, do you have it?" "Listen kid, I don't know, I don't listen to that radio station. It sounds like you're talking about heavy metal though, and that stuff is over here. We also have a limited amount on cassettes. You can look through this stuff, but I don't know what band you are talking about. I listen to Men at Work, Duran Duran, Kajagoogoo, Culture Club, you know, the stuff on the radio."

So, I went over to the section that the guy told me was their heavy metal section. Kiss, no. Alice Cooper, who's she? Ozzy Osbourne, oh yeah! AC/DC, nope. I carefully looked at every record and every cassette until, I couldn't believe my eyes, I found a cassette called Metal Massacre, and on the song listing on the back of the cassette, there it was, Metallica and "Hit The Lights". I was stoked! Now I just hoped that I had enough money to buy it, yep, looks like I did, awesome! Hmmm, how am I going to sneak this into the house? I thought about it a bit, and came up with a plan. I bought the cassette tape, got on my bike and made the 1/2 hour trek back home. Once I got home, I hid it outside in the garage until I knew my parents were asleep......then went out to the garage and brought it in. I carefully unwrapped the plastic surrounding the cassette, then I opened it, took the cassette out, and realized I couldn't play it as would probably wake up my parents as the house was silent. So, instead, I read the little cassette booklet cover to cover, over and over again, until I finally fell asleep.

I must have listened to that song several hundred times! I would listen to it, rewind it, listen to it, rewind it, over and over and over again. I eventually listened to the other songs on the tape as well. Some of them were actually quite good, but not as good as Metallica!

During the course of the next year, Metallica had released their first album called Kill 'Em All on a new label called Megaforce records run by Johnny Z. Slayer was getting equal time on the radio with their Metal Massacre release, then their first EP in 1983 on Metal Blade called Show No Mercy, with an extended play album single called Haunting the Chapel in 1984, During this same time-frame, Anthrax from New York had been signed, Dave Mustaine had been kicked out of Metallica and replaced by Exodus founding member and guitarist Kirk Hammet (just a couple of weeks prior to recording their first album Kill 'Em All). Dave Mustaine then started Megadeath, and Exodus signed to record their Bonded In Blood album.

In 1983-1984, thrash metal exploded onto the scene. Tapes of practices were recorded, traded, re-recorded, re-traded just like baseball cards. Live shows were eventually recorded and traded, and the music quickly found it's way across the USA, Europe and other areas of the world, without a world-wide-web or internet to assist. The scene just took off, and bands started sprouting up all over the world. While Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax led the charge in the USA, bands like Kreator, Destruction and Sodom were building the scene in Germany, Annihilator and Voivod were building the Canadian scene and Sepultura bulding the scene in Brazil.

The next generation of thrash bands hit around 1986-1988, bands such as Testament, Forbidden, Death Angel, Flotsam & Jetsam (which Jason Newsted played for prior to joining Metallica), Laaz Rocket, Destructor, Deliverance, Believer, Vengeance Rising, Have Mercy, Tourniquet, Heaven's Force, Vio-lence, Possessed and Purgatory, as well as hardcore/punk/thrash "crossover" bands such as D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbiciles), C.O.C. (Corrosion of Conformity), and S.O.D. (Stormtroopers of Death founded by Billy Milano of Psychos and Scott Ian of Antrhax.

In 1990-1991, Slayer and Megadeth, along with Testament, and opening act Alice In Chains, toured arena's around Europe and the US playing in front of thousands of fans each night. They were at the height of their careers! However, at the end of 1991 Nirvana released an album called "Nevermind", and that's exactly what happened to the thrash metal scene once "grunge" music came into popularity, everyone said "Oh nevermind" to thrash. With what seemed to be perfect timing, Metallica had released what is now called the Black album, which saw less thrash/progressive metal and more of an alternative groove metal feel to their music. They went on sell more records than ever before in the mainstream. Most thrash bands called it quits for awhile, whether it be a few years or even a decade or more. A few bands toughed it out. Anthrax, who changed singers and went to more of a mainstream metal sound, Megadeth, who also went to a more melodic, mainstream metal sound, and of course, Slayer, who added some elements of punk and aggression to their albums in the 90's. Slayer are the only one of the "Big 4" (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax) to stay close to their roots during this time. During the 90's, one "thrash" band did stay alive and well playing the heavier music, which was Pantera. They helped to keep the thrash scene thriving and took bands such as Slayer and Anthrax out on tour with them, respecting the elders so to speak.

At the end of the millennium, grunge was losing out to a style of metal simply called nu-metal. Bands like Korn, Lincoln Park, Rob Zombie, and I cannot remember most of any of the other bands involved in this scene (maybe Disturbed?) . Nu-Metal had it's 15 minutes of fame, and the scene began to see a rise in more traditional styles of heavy metal, including thrash metal.

By 2005, the thrash scene was large and thriving again, although nowhere near where it was in the glory day's of the mid-to-late 80's, but still re surging in popularity across the world. We saw bands that had gone on hiatus or broken up reforming and getting back together, such as Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Annihilator and Meliah Rage. We also saw tons of new thrash metal bands starting up and being signed, some fly-by-nighters just trying to catch a ride on the next big "trend", but other serious thrash bands who not only are great bands, but love the old stuff and respect the bands that started the scene back in the day. Some of these bands are still around after 2-3 releases, such as Gama Bomb, Evile, Havok, Bonded by Blood and others, many of which look like they're around to stay. Even bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Anthrax and Slayer are back on top of their game, playing the some of the best and heaviest thrash metal that they have played in years, possibly decades!

The Big 4 just toured Europe in 2010 and played sold out arenas around Europe and other areas of the world, released a double Blueray/DVD of their live show from Sophi Bulgaria (how many hundreds of thousands at that show?), and will probably be known as the biggest tour of the decade. Playing thrash metal. Then, once they finished up with Europe, with the exception of Metallica, they added Testament to the bill and toured the US - selling out shows and giving the millions of fans what they wanted......thrash metal.

Trends do come in and out with the times, and eventually things that were in style come back to be in style once more. However, the thrash movement was not a trend, but a culture and style of music that without it, we wouldn't have several metal sub-genres that we have today, such as death metal, black metal, metalcore, deathcore and grindcore. Thrash isn't going anywhere, and to be honest, it never really did. It's always been there, with bands carrying the torches underground, out of the spotlight, because it's tough. It doesn't need to be in the spotlight to survive, it doesn't need to be on the "Billboard" charts to survive, and it doesn't need to care what the American Idol viewers think about it. It's more than just a musical style, it's a lifesytle!

A Tale of Insanity (Morbid Fantasy)

Note: I wrote this poem several years ago, the original intent was for it to be lyrics for a song, and it was recently published in 2007. This poem won the "Editor's Choice Award" in December 2007, as well as "2007 Poem of the Year Award" in January 2008. I would like to warn everyone that the poem is a bit morbid, but has a very clear message.

Darkness, a place to hide
No one can see you, let's go for a ride
To a place you've never been
To a place you never want to go
A place that is dark, but you have to know....
It is here where your death ends
It is here where your "life" begins (Note - eternal)

As you look around you see
Demons laughing at your stupidity
You now realize, all but too late
That the life you've lived has sealed your fate

Swamps and pits and snakes that kill
The heat so unbearable that you begin to chill
Maggots crawling from the undead
Morbid fantasy, so real, so dread

Metal For A Dark World (MFADW): Hello Salvatore, how's it been going?

Salvatore Garasto (SG): Hi Brian, I’m good thank you! A bit excited ‘cause this is the first interview of my life … Anyway it’s ok! Oh, and sorry for my English!! you know, I’m Italian… hihi

MFADW: So tell us a bit about your band, Anima Mundi. First, what does the name of the band mean?   Where are you located?

SG: Well, “Anima Mundi” means “Soul of The world” … Originally it was a pre-Christian concept, but for me has a really different meaning … According to my point of view We are the soul of the world, and we can be a true Hope in this world, where there is fear, pain, deception, madness … You know, sometimes I feel like I’m living in an ugly mess … And the only Way to make a better place for humanity is our Lord Jesus Christ … And We are the Church, we can compare the Church to His Holy “body” … We are the soul of the world… That’s my opinion. Anyway I know that “Anima Mundi” is a concept that has been taken also by many Christian people in the History …
About my location: I live in the north of Italy, in a small city called Cordenons, near Pordenone … I love it because there’s a really peaceful atmosphere… It’s really calm… In addiction I don’t live in the center, so, this is even better!!!

MFADW: What is the music scene like there?

SG: Unblack Metal is not so popular in Italy. Yeah, we have a good Metal scene, but most of the metal (not only black metal) bands are satanic or anti-Christian … It’s really sad … I’d like to change this using my project Anima Mundi. This is my purpose. I’m really hopeful.. Metal is a good way to spread the Word of God: “Metal For A Dark World” as you say!!! I don’t have any Christian metalhead friend… And this is why in my band I am the only member. I hope one day I will find some good christian guy that can help me!!
But, I have also to say that in Italy there are some amazing Christian metal bands!! Like Mourn in Silence, Boarders and so on … A few years ago we had also a catholic monk called “Fratello Metallo” (which means “Brother Metal”) in the Metal scene! He played also at the Gods of Metal! Hehe that’s awesome! A lot of metalheads hate him… But I think he had a lot of courage, and an huge faith to do what he did.

MFADW: Do you write all of the lyrics and play on all of the instruments? Did anyone help you out? Did you also produce it?

SG: So, first of all I compose all the songs. I love writing music, I started when I was like13/14 years old on an amazing programme called “Finale”. I used to write classical music … I loved it, and I love it now too! At the time I used to play the piano… After..mmm…about… I think…2 or 3 years I started to listen to rock and grunge music, and I started playing the guitar and the drums… finally I begun to listen to Metal music!! I started writing metal songs about 4 years ago … I have a lot of music on my pc! Thrash Metal, Death metal, Folk Metal, Classical Metal, Black Metal etc. Anima Mundi is a Christian Black Metal project. I write all the lyrics… And trust me if I say that the lyrics are the most important thing in my project… I want to give a message to the world… And remember that I don’t want to be famous or something like that, this is not my purpose. My only hope is that the whole Metal world one day will be listening to my messages, and will understand them… Because my messages are messages of hope. Hope is the key…
After I write the music and the lyrics I start to record… First of all I record the guitars and the bass guitar (using my electric guitar) on a “realistic” drum base that I write for the song. At the end I record the voices: scream, growl or clean. That’s all. Obviously, after having done all these things, I put some effects or something like that… Like in the song “The Vision”. No one helps me on doing this. I do everything at home, using my personal laptop …

MFADW: How would you describe your sound or style of music?

SG: Unblack Metal… I think that’s all. I have my personal style which I developed during the years. I like this specific style for this kind of music. You know, there are some Unblack Metal bands that I don’t like… Maybe because their sound is too dirty… I don’t know. Anyway, my compositions are different from Antestor, Slechtvalk, Horde, Crimson Moonlight…. Yeah, I love these bands, and my level is much more lower than theirs hihihi… Anyway I don’t want to emulate them… Like I said before, I have, and I Want to have my personal style: Anima Mundi style! My sound is dark, but not too dark … My sound is a “black metal” sound but not too “black metal”… I’m in a middle way hihih… I don’t want to sound too extreme.

MFADW: Who/what are your musical influences?

SG: Like I said, I developed a music style during the years… So, for sure I must be influenced by some bands like Slechtvalk or Horde, but, at the same time, I have my personal style… Try to find a band that sounds like Anima Mundi… It’s really hard to do it, not because Anima Mundi is “the best” or something like that ahahaha! Only because, I think, everyone has his personal own way to compose… It depends on inner feelings… My music come from me… If you think about that, even the bands which I talked about before (Antestor, Crimson Moonlight etc) are really different one to another!
Anyway, maybe the bigger influence on Anima Mundi came from the band Slechtvalk… But they are more melodic… and I prefer them!!! ahahaha

MFADW: Do you have any plans for live shows? Any chance you'll come to the USA?

SG: Before thinking about live shows I have to think about having a Real Band!!! I’m on my own… I can’t play 3 guitars, the drums and 3 or 4 voices at the same time!!! Ahahah… My dream is to have a band and spread my music with some concert…and yes, it would be awesome coming to USA. I have some relatives in Boston, so maybe there are some chances! But in the future…
I’d like to play in Cornerstone… I love it…I love the place, I love all the bands that play there, I love the people, I love the atmosphere… I love everything!! Maybe one day…

MFADW: What is the name of your upcoming album/cd? When will it be released, and how can readers of Metal For A Dark World buy a copy of it?

SG: My last album has been released a few weeks ago… Its name is “The Vision” and there are 9 tracks. For now, If you want a copy of it you have to contact me on my official facebook page, or on my e-mail garastosalvatore@gmail.com, or on my official myspace (www.myspace.com/animamundimetal)… I will give you all the information and I will send the cd to you as soon as possible… In a few weeks I will put “The Vision” on ITunes or on Amazon, so that people can download it easily.
At the moment I’m also building my website: www.animamundimetal.com … You will be able to contact me there too! The price is 8€ + delivery cost.

MFADW: Do you have a web site or MySpace/FaceBook site where readers can go to hear some of your music?

SG: Yes I have both of them, but for now, I don’t know why, music on Myspace doesn’t work!! Anyway, you can find me and my music on my official facebook page… There are 5 songs of the new album, and some tracks from my first demo called “Anima Mundi”.

MFADW: Was is recorded in a typical studio, or was it recorded in your own studio?

SG: I recorded everything at home on my own. I use a programme called Magix Music Maker 17, it’s really good (even if not such professional as Cubase or Logic), and really easy to use! It has a lot of awesome effects inside… I love it!

MFADW: What type of musical gear do you use (guitars, amps, keys, pedals, etc)?

SG: First of all I use my sweet guitar hihi… I have an Ibanez js 1000tbt, it sounds really good for every kind of music. I have also pedals for the distortions… In order to record I don’t use an amp. I connect my guitar to the computer directly.

MFADW: What type of gear did you use in the studio while recording and producing the album?

SG: Nothing special… Maybe the most important thing is my computer, I do everything with it!! Mix and so on… It takes me a lot of time but…it’s ok… I like it, and I want to go on with my project.

MFADW: I have had the privilege of hearing 4 of your songs from your upcoming cd.   I'll be playing at least 2 songs on the next podcast, "The Vision", and "Like A Thief".   Can you tell us a bit about the lyrics and themes for those 2 songs?

SG: The song “The Vision” talks about the book of Revelations…. You know, the seven seals, the beast, the dragon, the army of God, the Lamb, the Lion, destruction on the earth and so on. “Like a Thief” is closely connected to these themes… The message that I want to give with this song is to Be Always Prepared, because the end of age, the Christ, will come like a Thief during the night… We will never know when He will come… If we want to be saved, we have to be always with Him, and we have to Trust in Him… He gave His life for us…He is our Saviour. We will be judge one day… But if we are with Him, we will be His chosen ones, and we will rise! Believe in Christ, and Trust in Him…. Pray for this world guys!

MFADW: Are you working on material for a new album? If so, will the musical style be similar, or will you try different things?

SG: Yeah! I’m working on new songs right now! The style will be the same, I think… well, I don’t know… I’ve already written a song for a new album… It is called “Don’t Touch My Christ”, you’ll like it!! And the genre is really similar to The Vision… I put the lyrics on my facebook if you want to read them.

MFADW: If the new cd does well, any plans to release it on vinyl if there is interest?

SG: Ooooo hihihi, well, I don’t know! Maybe! Who knows? I have to think about that!! But let me tell you that it would be awesome!!

MFADW: You play Christian extreme metal. Why play for Jesus Christ rather than the devil/satan like most bands do? How did you come to be a Christian?

SG: Devil is a loser… He ruins the world…he is a deceiver… And trust me, he is weak!! The only thing he can do is to tempt us to do evil things… but he has no power…sometimes we are his power because we let him come into our life… We Have To Fight him!! (And this is the theme of the song “Fight Without Shame”)… Satanists sometimes seem stupid… Satan doesn’t love them! Satan hates everyone, and he want to steel humanity from God…. But he will not be able to do it…He will be defeated. Jesus Christ is the real power! He is the Judge and the Lawyer! He is our Life! He gives us Love and Hope! He is the Truth!! He is much more powerful than the Devil…. Satan will not win this battle, because Jesus is the Power, He is the Light, and Light illuminates the darkness… When darkness is surrounding our life, we have to seek the light…This Light is Jesus Christ… Our Lord of Lords. Fortunately I’ve grown up in a Christian family… I have to thank the Lord every day for that…

Metal For A Dark World (MFADW): Hello Anatoly, how are things going in the Ukraine?

Anatoly: Still breathing :D

MFADW: Where in the Ukraine are you from?

Anatoly: I live in suburbs of Kiev.

MFADW: What is the music scene like in the Ukraine? What is the heavy metal scene like?

Anatoly: Be honest it's not my interests one thing I know heavy music scene in Ukraine is very weak. IMHO, it doesn't exist at all. Exists some bands, but all of them has same line-up.

MFADW: It's amazing as you are in three different bands, at least the last time I counted. It looks like you started with Last Battle, then started Henoticon and Destroyer of Lie. How did all of those different projects get their start and why did you get involved with all of them?

Anatoly: Well, not quite exactly, we haven't three projects, but four :), you forgot about PLEROPHORIA, what will be able for purchase somewhere in the middle of July. We'd started by Last Battle. I asked myself one day, what my life could be, if it was under influence of Christian bands, not satanic? What if my authorities were Christians and not just nominal people or grumbling oldies, but people, who listens and play music what my heart desires, so maybe my life would run different way and I could avoid so many bitter moments, and I start to pray and beg God for rising such people and bands like ours. Besides music is one of the good ways to spread Gospel amongst the people and God see, what I live by that, so God use me in that way. That's the origin of all. I had tons of material, it's different by structure and style, what gave birth to our other projects. We thought to make few CDs per year by one sign, but next we thought, what it won't be cool.

MFADW: Who are the members of Last Battle, what style of music do you play, and who all is in the band? Do you write the lyrics? What does the band name mean?

Anatoly: Me and my friend and guitarist Max Rianski, also know for his one-man band Dying Blaze. Max makes all guitar and bass parts. 1^st album 'Last Battle' was 'atmospheric black/doom', second 'melodic black'. Name 'Last Battle' speaks about Armageddon battle and symbolizes returning of our Lord Jesus Christ.

MFADW: Who are the members of Henoticon, what is the style of music, and who is in the band? What does Henoticon mean?

Anatoly: Same line-up. Genre is 'pagan black metal'. 'Henoticon' means union between two sides, our meaning is union between God and man.

MFADW: Who are the members of Destroyer of Lie, what style of music, and who is in that band? Is there a meaning behind the name of the band? Again, do you write all of the lyrics?

Anatoly: Line-up same :D . Genre is 'atmospheric melodic black/folk/Viking metal'. All lyrics and music is mine, well, not mine, but God's Grace's. Meaning of name is what Jesus brings not just salvation, but true understanding of God. So we destroy lies as Jesus did.

MFADW: Are there any differences in musical style between the 3 bands? Overall, what is your favorite style of music and metal?

Anatoly: Sure they're different :) . Difference is in sound and style. By words I can't explain then, you should listen to it. My favorite genre is BLACK METAL in all variations. Next favorite genre is metal without suffix 'CORE'. Pop go to hell!

MFADW: 2010 must have been a busy year for you recording and releasing 3 albums, 1 by each band. How did you manage to do it?

Anatoly: We did it with pleasure and it won't burden for us. We enjoy this, God do rest.

MFADW: What are your musical influences? What other bands do you like?

Anatoly: If I start to list my favorite bands, your blog won't support such data. Main bands are: Holy Blood, EVROKLIDON, Crimson Moonlight, Antestor, Parakletos and other honorable bands :D

MFADW: So you write all of the lyrics, do you also write the music? Do you also play any instruments?

Anatoly: I would like to say, what I write all music and lyrics, but if I do this I'll lie. I'm just a tool in hands of real Creator and I have deeply convinced, what everything through me is made by God, so all glory to Him. I was bass player, but my drug addiction damaged my radial nerve, so I can write music only. Mean score on the notes.

MFADW: What type of gear do you use when in the recording studio? Were all of the albums recorded in typical recording studios, or were any of them recorded in a home studio? If so, what type of gear is used in the home studio setting?

Anatoly: Max recording all guitar parts at studio completely by himself. Keys and drums I sampling at my notebook, then adding vocal, then I mastering all stuff. Something like that. But new albums will be produced at studio equipment by Max. He's my 'Jack of all trades'.

MFADW: Do you play live with any of the bands?

Anatoly: We had just one live show and, even with our great desire, won't happen again. First of all we haven't people for this. It's very hard to find true Christians, who wish to play black metal. Second of all we're live in different cities and see each other face to face just couple times during 3 years of cooperation .So no more live shows I think. But if God will we won't resist.

MFADW: Have you toured outside of the Ukraine?

Anatoly: Nope.

MFADW: Any plans to come to the USA? It would be cool to see you live! How about a live DVD?

Anatoly: Well, I won't mind to visit USA. And if God give us strong line-up, we'll visit USA and other countries, where metal love and honor :). Then DVD appears. By the way, our live show you can load from Internet.

Anatoly: Well, if some label will make us an offer we can't refuse then world will see our CDs. Now we work with mp3 only. Besides I can put my testimony and other material in folder with songs, this will be difficult with CDs. I want to share my story, where people can see His love, so music is just add-on, no more. And I can share my music for free via Internet. As you can see, with CD I won't be able to do this.

MFADW: Can you tell us about the video by Henoticon titled "The Passion of the Christ"? It's a great video, very epic! Can you tell us more about the woman crying in the song and the meaning of the song?

Anatoly: Meaning of the song will be clear, when you'll read lyrics :), and if you'll see video with lyrics everyone will understand meaning :) . By two words my video is something like Mel's 'Passions of Christ'. I mean price of salvation. Crying woman means crying woman. I think all women crying like that. This weep could create an atmosphere of spiritual feelings those people, who loved Jesus.

Ok I admit it, I am a tech geek! Is there some type of multistep program to rehabilitate me?

Seriously though, technology has changed our world. For example, I am currently writing this blog using an app called "Blog Writer Lite" (free version to try to see if I like it) from my iPhone. What makes it nice is that I can blog wherever I go, whenever I want. However, my big fat fingers have issues with the touch screen keyboard. I can't afford to upgrade to a tablet, so this will have to do.

So what was I going to talk about? Oh yes, Mobile technology and music. Now that you all know that I have an IPhone, there are several apps for writing, recording, and even mixing and producing music. Some are better than others, some are very useful. Don't worry Android users, there are plenty of music apps out there for you as well (well I am guessing ;-). There are even music apps for the PSP and the Nintendo DS.

Back to the iPhone. There are synths with vst plugins, bass line recorders, drum machines, looping software, sequencers, and even full fledged recording software. An example of a recording package is Four Track. It let's you record on up to four different tracks, say for example drums, guitar, lead guitar, and bass. It then let's you "bump down" the mix to just 2 tracks so you have another 2 tracks open to records vocals and maybe keys or percussion. You can then bump the tracks down again, leaving you 2 free tracks if you need it. Then you hit a URL from your computer to your iPhone to download the tracks and you can add effects, mix it all down, master, etc....

Then there is another, one of my favorites: NanoStudio. It sones with it's own synth, many different instruments (including guitar and bass and drums), let's you program your own sounds, and works very well (with the latest update) with the Akai Pro Synthstation 25 Portable keyboard controller, which you plug your phone directly into the main interface of the keyboard. If I could take a picture of it now I would, but I'd have to restart the blog here so just google it. You can compose music, add tracks, mix down tracks, add more tracks, use a decent amount of effects (such as reverb, pan, etc) and even mix the song down and save as a wave file for further editing on your pc or Mac, or export to MP3 if you're happy with the mix.

There is another app I use frequently as well which also works with the Akai Pro Synthstation 25 and comes standard with basic instruments and allows you to purchase additional instrument packs. It is called Music Studio by Xewton. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube just search on Xewton Music Studio. I have written two full songs with this app and again, you can export back to your DAW on your pc or Mac for further editing and production or you can export to mp3.

There are so many apps out there to create music for the iPhone I couldn't possible name them all here. Some others to note are:
- Computer Music (magazine): Make Music (easy to use loop sequencer and FREE)
- MutiTrack DAW
- Nano Keyboard
- Thumbjam
- BlueFire
- InstantDrummer (series)
- iSequence
- Pocket Studio
- programs to use your phone as a controller for Cubase and also Ableton Live

Even if you want your final product produced in a studio or home studio pc/Mac, these apps are great for on-the-go writing and capturing ideas as they pop into your head. There are some great vocal recorders out there as well. I have a few and use the Blue Mikey 2.0 microphone that plugs right into your iphone and can use it with the aforementioned studio apps or the vocal apps.

In conclusion (yes I'll stop rambling now) mobile technology can help us take our music further, compose and record on the go, and change the way we create music and art.

Bands in Leadership

So, are YOU in a band? Have you released albums/CDs/mp3s? Do you play live shows? Do you have fans?

If you answered YES to any or all of those questions, then that puts you in a "Leadership" position. Exactly what do I mean by "Leadership"? According to Dictionary.com, here is an excerpt on what leadership means:

–noun

the position or function of a leader: He managed to maintainhis leadership of the party despite heavy opposition.

ability to lead: She displayed leadership potential.

an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction: Theyprospered under his leadership.

the leaders of a group: The union leadership agreed toarbitrate.

As you can see, leadership isn't just for Government officials, school board leaders, and church pastors, leadership is far more than that. A band fits 3, if not 4, of the descriptors above. First of all, a band functions as a leader. A band has influence over it's followers and fans, therefore has the ability to lead. Since the band has influence over its fans, they are involved in an act or instance of leading or providing guidance and direction, via lyrics, actions, etc. Lastly, a band is considered to be a leader of a group of fans, many of which take everything the band says onstage, in their lyrics, and in their actions to heart.

I remember back when I was an impressionable young man in my mid to late teens. It started with a band named Ratt. Yes, Ratt. I wore a Ratt t-shirt, Ratt bandana, and was into the lyrics and videos on MTV (when they played music videos), thinking of women as sexual objects and wanting the long hair and to parade around like an idiot with Milton Byrle (RIP). I could go on and on, but I won't. For the purpose of this discussion, I later was into Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden, Anthrax. Slayer and Metallica were my favorites. I used to go around all of the time saying "Kill Em All", "F* it all and F*ing no regrets", and the infamous "Hell Awaits". Granted I was still in my teens, but those songs, lyrics, music and bands stayed with me for years into my 20's and even my 30's.

So, with the example that I have tried to illustrate above, bands are definitely in leadership positions, and their fans take their music, their lyrics, and their crazy on-stage (and off-stage) antics to heart. They want to be like their heroes, their musical gods. Many young (and sometimes older) fans don't realize it's just for show and to sell more albums.

So, in closing, I would like to leave you with just one thought: When Judgement Day comes, and believe me, IT IS COMING, and your standing in front of the One and Only God who will be judging you, do you want to not only have to answer for your actions in life, but also for the possibility of leading hundreds or thousands astray? Something for your conscience to decide.........
