Indian Metal veterans DEMONIC RESURRECTION have announced the release of their 5th full length album. The album is titled ‘Dashavatar‘ which translates to ‘the ten avatars of Vishnu’, who is the ‘the god of preservation’ in Hindu mythology. The album is scheduled to release on March 15th 2017 and it will be independently released by the band, who were signed to Candlelight Records for their last two albums.

The band’s vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Demonstealer comments, “Our previous album ‘The Demon King‘ was born from the idea of writing about ‘Ravan’ who is a demon king from Hindu mythology and while we wrote our own story from scratch it did kind of set the tone of where we want to go from there. My fiance was the one who told me the rather gruesome tale of Narasimha the ‘man-lion’ avatar of Vishnu which really made me look at mythology rather differently and it made for a great idea to write a song about each of the avatars of Vishnu, since they were very interesting stories. It was pretty obvious then that the album had to be called Dashavatar.”

Artwork has been made by Indian artist Reuben Bhattacharya (Visual Amnesia) who explains it in more detail –

“Ten ancient gods in one and the band’s most death metal sounding album, it had epic written all over it. So when Sahil got in touch with me with the brilliant idea of Dashavatar, i just had to give life to this vision. Since the idea itself of India’s premier metal band doing something from Indian mythology itself is a polarizing one, I had a dual responsibility to create a Vishnu that hadn’t been seen before and one that was demonical and true to the band’s legacy as well. The amount of reference material to go through with this was ridiculous but i find studying and absorbing ancient lore and myths fascinating. Painting a completely new version of Vishnu was a worthy challenge i set myself and chased relentlessly. Of course it was not easy re-imagining a godly image so deep rooted in our culture; with so many layers both in meaning and sensitivity and how it relates to the stories of the 10 avatars on their respective tracks on the album. This the alien hyper god of the multiverse preserving the might of all that is good in his bolt of lightning, as the avatars fight of the sneering serpents of evil, all avatars united as one combined mega force in a central battle at the lair of all creation. Remember this image is not as a religious god, this is a metal god \m/”

Track list:
1. Matsya – The Fish
2. Kurma – The Tortoise
3. Varaha – The Boar

The boys from Kansas City recently played in Hard Rock Café, Bangalore at Roktober Fest. We caught up with Wes Scantlin and he decided to Come Clean.

Hope your guys are having a good time. A sneak peek review of your experience so far into the tour in India.
It was a delightful, amazing experience. It was really inspirational and touching to see how many fans we had in this country.

Your first album was out in 1997, looking back on it now; how has the journey been as a band and in your style of playing.
It’s been a brilliant journey. More like trial by error and a learning process. It’s a work in progress as a band. We sing about love, pain, hate and desire. I think we’re more understanding as a band now. We take emotion and we put emotion into our songs.

It’s been a while since your last album, will we get to hear you guys play any new songs? I’am sure fans will get Stoned and go Blurry.
The album will be out after Christmas 2015. Wiping the Slates Clean is the title. Its old school Puddle of Mudd with some heart felt and life saving musical and lyrical content that will hopefully impact other people’s lives.

Have you been able to attend any local gigs so far?
Unfortunately we’ve had no time to see other bands. Maybe we can on our next visit.

It’s Roktoberfest at Hard Rock Cafe (HRC), and the band’s performance coincides with this “Rock” fest. So, how does it feel that you are the first to perform at this fest?
I think this opportunity is amazing and it’s going to have a lot of legs for many many years, we are all really happy to be here and we appreciate Hard Rock Café for having us here.

As this is your first tour to India, and you are to perform at Hard Rock Cafe. So, how excited are you for this?
We’re really excited to be here and play at HRC, its one of our favorite brands and not everyone gets to perform at a HRC. We love this country and its very special for me and the rest of the band.

Thank you for the interview, best wishes with the gigs ahead. A few words to the rockers out there listening.
Thank you for supporting us and coming out in such great numbers. Our fans in India are beautiful, inspirational people who have been blessed by the almighty above. I have been blessed through you and I can’t believe I’m here.

an eerie silence spawned on that nippy September night, I stopped my bike and noticed there was something creepy and strange about the meteorological conditions, the streetlights were either flickering or dead and there was lightning without thunder. I recollect thunder striking a few yards from where I stood and the ghoulish clamor which was creeping up behind me and the sudden electric surge passing through my body. I was struck by thunder and it erroneously invoked the bizarre…

…panic-stricken I recall running frantically for my life as the deafening and colossal drumming grew louder behind me, it followed by some rather intimidating yet cadence riffs which loped in faster than ever. That’s when I ran into the Wizard, in a numinous voice he unleashed a series of cosmic and philosophical spells and branded me Bearded and Bizarre. I journeyed through a passage of dead stars, blackholes and lunar phases and landed into a queer and beastly era of obscurity, where malevolents whispered of an unholy place, they made sacrifices, danced to a vice trance as they Buried me in NOLA. My petrified mind drifted into a cryogenic Sleeping Pool, to a rescindable time, a prolonged state of objectivity drawn into a riffy parallel universe. The sound of pages being turned hurriedly woke me, I found myself starting straight into the Wizards face, he was carrying a quire. Pryingly I wondered about my premonitions of Where There’s Smoke (There’s a Pyre). I called upon the Heathen Lord and read a prayer asking to be made free from this nightmarish repression of oblivion and melancholy dream. A bright shining light appeared out of nowhere and the next thing I recall was gazing into the twilight sky and witnessing The Grand Alignment.

From the opening note until the last beat, this album bestows a forty four minute ride into an analogous universe; experience a starker and unpitying sound of drums which are dunked into slower and faster paced riffs, which are topped with some unkempt vocals which will descend your mind into a murkier and enchanted galaxy.

When you get your hands on the album prepare yourself to; give in and visit an outlandish planetary ecosystem with this meditative cosmos of BevarSea’s latest creation.

Invoke the Bizarre … because a parallel and orderly ecosystem is typical and unexciting.

Legendary death metal drummer GEORGE KOLLIAS from the band Nile has just announced that he will be playing drums on the new Demonstealer album. Sahil Makhija, the frontman of Indian metal band Demonic Resurrection who writes his solo material under the moniker ‘Demonstealer’ is gearing up to release his sophomore album in May 2015.

Commented Demonstealer “Having George be a part of this album and to play drums on it is a huge honour for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect something like that to happen. I had the pleasure of meeting George personally in 2011 to interview him for my show Headbanger’s Kitchen and we became good friends, but still I’m only going to believe it when I have the drum tracks in my hands.”

“This album has been 4 years in the making and often took a backseat due to my work with DR, RD and Workshop, all who released albums over the last 2 years. The music is quite melodic and I think there is a lot of emotion in this album. The music is more melodic death metal so it’s going to be very interesting to hear George play on this because it’s definitely not as ferocious or fast as Nile so definitely excited to see what he brings to the table.”

Demonstealer is also running a crowd funding campaign for the album where fans can pre-order the music and merchandise.
