Hellspawn strikes back

After two years of silence Polish death metal extreme act HELLSPAWN strikes a ferocious blow on the faces of infidels with their second album entitled The Great Red Dragon. The album premieres on June 6^th, 2012, courtesy of Wydawnictwo Muzyczne Psycho.

The material was recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered in Hellspawn Studio by the frontman of the band - Mariusz Konieczny. The graphical layout of the album was designed by Michał Lis, who – especially for the purpose of this album – used William Blake’s paintings.

Short commentary about the content of the album:
In the realm of extreme music there are some who stride towards maximum brutality, and there are some who stride towards technical perfection. There are also some, like Hellspawn, who do not care much about any of the above, and yet create death metal which does not lack anything and still has much more to offer.

The Great Red Dragon is a perfect example of why there should be no distinction between old and new schools of extreme metal, as it is an uncompromising album which cannot be dismissed under many labels. If you’re a fan of Morbid Angel, Angel Corpse, Diabolic or Hate Eternal, the album is mandatory for you !!

InsideOut signs Enchant

ENCHANT, the Bay Area’s long-running Prog Rock institution, are finally back to the scene they once helped shape and establish! Originally founded in1989 and with seven studio album releases under their belt, it’s been a much too long period of silence for ENCHANT ever since their last official release, the “Live At Last” live-documentation 2CD/2DCD from 2004.

ENCHANT have recently announced that they are at long last working on an overdue brand-new studio album and they have now also signed a new longterm worldwide deal with their perennial label-partner InsideOutMusic.

“It’s been way too long!”, says Douglas A. Ott, main songwriter and guitarist of ENCHANT.

“We had to take time off from ENCHANT because a lot was going on in all of our lives. Divorces, marriages, kids, separations…Finally the band is stable again and ready to get going on the new album!”

Ott furthermore adds: “Everyone is really excited and looking forward to the process again. I’m currently doing preproduction and putting together demos of the new material and very shortly I’ll start recording the real tracks. We’re taking our time and really focusing on the writing and arranging of this new material.”
Thomas Waber, founder and label manager of InsideOutMusic, comments on the return of ENCHANT as follows:

“InsideOutMusic as a label has a long history with ENCHANT and I am very happy that they are making a new album right now. Hopefully we can add many more fond memories to the relationship! It’s great to have them back!”

A new ENCHANT studio album is in its songwriting and pre-production stages right now and is expected to be available for a release early 2013 via InsideOutMusic.

King's X touting with Kansas

Legendary rockers KING'S X will return to the North American tour circuit this
fall as direct support to KANSAS.

In regards to this upcoming trek, KING'S X bassist/vocalist Doug Pinnick comments: "I've been a huge KANSAS fan since the beginning. I remember sitting on the floor with my friends listening to the just released record 'Song For America'... Fast forward to years later, KING'S X is going on tour with them!! It is an honor to be doing shows with them. This is gonna rock!!"

These dates will mark KING'S X's first performances since Gaskill's remarkable
recovery from a major heart attack earlier this year.

"Not too long ago I was thinking I might not ever get back on a stage, now I'm
ready and with the OK from all my doctors," says Gaskill. "What better way to
get back than to tour with the legendary KANSAS. Let's rock..."

KANSAS original member and guitar virtuoso Richard Williams adds, "We are really looking forward to the upcoming shows with KING'S X. They're a great band and a force to be reckoned with. It's a tour like this that allows us to dig a little bit deeper into our catalogue and play a few songs that KANSAS fans haven't heard for a while. It's gonna be a lot of fun!"

Cavus working on new album

Cavus has started recording their second album in their own studio in Finland. The yet untitled album will feature songs like "The Art of Blood Purging" and "Unholy Water". The band just purchased some rats and locusts to roam their premises to advance the vile surroundings of their studio, says vocalist W. The old wooden building is condemned to be demolished in the near future so it will be the last album Cavus records at that place they simply call "The Lair".

For the last forty years Rick Wakeman has immersed himself in music. Leaving the Royal College of Music Rick has worked with some of the biggest names in rock and pop music playing on some of the biggest hits by artists as diverse as Cat Stevens, Marc Bolan and David Bowie. Likewise he has played with one of the biggest rock bands in the world; As a member of YES Rick played some of the biggest arenas in the world and released massively successful albums including 'Fragile', 'Close To the Edge' and the live album 'Yessongs'. In 1973 he released his first proper solo album 'The Six Wives of Henry the VIII' following that album up in the seventies and eighties with other hugely popular and successful albums. In the eighties Rick also recorded albums in the then popular genre entitled “New Age”, releasing such popular albums as The Aspirant Series of recordings ('Aspirant Sunrise', 'Aspirant Sunset' and 'Aspirant Sunshadows').

After leaving YES following a world tour in 2004, Rick concentrated on his solo career and collaborated with Jon Anderson on a number of projects including tours of the UK and US and a studio and live album. The latest release from Rick Wakeman is an archive live album titled 'In The Nick Of Time', which was recorded in 2003. The album was recorded during the tour to promote the then current studio album 'Out There'. Rick performed with the “New English Rock Ensemble” which featured Rick alongside old hands Ashley Holt, Tony Fernandez and new boys Ant Glynne and Lee Pomeroy. Tracks featured include: "Out There", "Catherine Parr", "No Earthly Connection", "White Rock" and "Wurm". The album has been much anticipated by the large and dedicated Rick Wakeman audience and this release will be the first time this album has been commercially released.

KRUX, DJERV, DARK TRANQUILLITY, DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA confirmed for Holland's EINDHOVEN METAL MEETING 2012.

Swedish doomsters KRUX, DJERV the Norwegian band featuring singer Agnete Kjølsrud -, Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY, Austria’s death metal veterans DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA and Belgium’s GORATH have been confirmed for this year's edition of the Eindhoven Metal Meeting, set to take place December 14-15, 2012 at the Effenaar in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. There will be 32 bands on 2 stages during 2 days.

Todd La Torre not leaving Crimson Glory

CRIMSON GLORY vocalist Todd La Torre has released the following statement
regarding today's announcement that he has joined forces with QUEENSRŸCHE
members Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren in a brand new band called RISING WEST:

"Just for the record and for those asking about CRIMSON GLORY, I am NOT leaving CRIMSON GLORY, I am embarking on another musical endeavor with the members of QUEENSRŸCHE. I am proud and honored to be a part of this! CRIMSON GLORY is still writing new material for our record, DO NOT WORRY :) This is going to be an amazing new chapter. \m/ Thank you for all of your support!"

La Torre, who says that QUEENSRŸCHE has been his favorite band since he was 15 years old, first met Wilton at this year's NAMM convention in January in Anaheim, California.

RISING WEST will make its live debut on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9 at the Hard Rock Café in Seattle, Washington. The band will perform rare and
classic hits from the first five QUEENSRŸCHE albums — from the 1983 EP to
1990's "Empire" — and plans on hitting the studio sometime early summer to begin recording its first release.

Todd La Torre joined CRIMSON GLORY in April 2010 and has played a number of shows with the band during the past two years.

La Torre made his first public appearance with CRIMSON GLORY at ProgPower USA X as one of seventeen guest performers paying tribute to Midnight, the band's original singer.

Essentially unknown to the mainstream progressive metal scene, La Torre spent 22 years earning his stripes and solidifying himself as an unquestionable talent behind the drum kit of various hard rock and heavy metal projects in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. However, his vocal aspirations went largely unfulfilled until 2009 when Matt LaPorte (JON OLIVA'S PAIN), who had only heard La Torre sing on a few occasions, casually mentioned to CRIMSON GLORY guitarist Jon Drenning that he might make a nice addition to the already stellar lineup of performers the band had accumulated. It was only a short time later that La Torre found himself at the band's rehearsal studio, and the pieces began
to fall into place.

Midnight passed away in 2009 due to long-term health complications.

Special guest on new Artizan album

Former ICED EARTH frontman Matt Barlow will make a very special guest appearance on the title track of "Ancestral Energy", the new album from the melodic power metal band ARTIZAN. The song reveals an intriguing back story for the original ARTIZAN track "Curse Of The Artizan", which was released in 2011. Matt will perform the voice of the Artizan's ancestors.

Commented Barlow: "I'm happy to announce that I will be lending my voice to the forthcoming release of the new ARTIZAN album, 'Ancestral Energy'. In addition to my own musical project, Ty and the guys of ARTIZAN have given me the opportunity to appear as a guest vocalist on what I believe will be a great
conceptual endeavor.

"If you have followed what the band has recorded previously, you know that they are very much into 'storytelling' and that's something that has always interested me in this genre. As another benefit, I will get to work with producer Jim Morris again as he puts the guys through their paces at Morrisound Recording.

"I'm looking forward to recording the song that I'll be performing on, and think
that we'll have a great time with it."

Added ARTIZAN founder/drummer Ty Tammeus:"We are proud and honored that Matt will be contributing his talents to the new album. We will be showcasing Matt's full vocal range on the passage that we have created for him. I am ecstatic that we all get to hear Matt again!"

Whitechapel posts second new song

Today WHITECHAPEL has released the second single from their self-titled fourth album that is due out June 15th/18th via Metal Blade Records. The song entitled I, Dementia is being exclusively premiere by Loud Wire. Get a first listen to HERE and be sure to pre-order the album HERE.

WHITECHAPEL filmed a series of videos during the recording process of the new album. The first video in the series provides an in depth look at the drum tracking process for the album and can be viewed HERE. Having spent several years lauded as one of the frontrunners in their genre, in 2012 WHITECHAPEL stand as a defining force in contemporary heavy music. Building dramatically on the trademarked bludgeon of their first three releases, with Whitechapel the Tennessean sextet have inarguably delivered their most intense, dynamic, and downright hostile record to date. Drenched in atmospheric darkness, the record is also rife with gripping melodies that drag the listener in to the tumult, willing or otherwise, and across its ten tracks it is infused with an emotional depth that pointedly separates the band from the plethora of two-dimensional mosh-starters that have sprung up in their wake.

SFU announces new guitarist

Death metal ministers SIX FEET UNDER today announce the addition of rhythm guitarist Ola Englund to their legendary ranks. Englund, who will make his first official appearance with the band on the 18 Nights Of Blood tour across North America set to commence next month, takes the place of Rob Arnold.

Comments founding vocalist Chris Barnes of the new recruit: "Ola is an amazing guitarist and was chosen for his superlative technique and style of playing. We believe he will be the perfect complement to Steve Swanson, and the devastating rhythm section that is Talley/Hughell. Steve, Kevin, Jeff and myself are so looking forward to Ola's entrance into the band upon the release of Undead and the commencement of our first tour next month with Dying Fetus and Revocation. We can't wait for you to witness the new killing machine that is SIX FEET UNDER! Ola takes over duties for our good friend and death metal warrior Rob Arnold who will be retiring from touring but will remain a central writing partner and fellow collaborator on future SFU releases. Undead was officially released in Europe last week via Metal Blade Records. Called "the best thing SFU have recorded since Maximum Violence," in a recent 8/10 review by Decibel Magazine, the record was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver), mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy) and features the recording line up of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

Entrails on live offensive this summer

ENTRAILS formed in the 90s, but split up before they were able to release a demo or even an album. It took them until 2008 to come back when guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist rediscovered some old tapes. In a moment of nostalgia he decided that they deserved to be released as they should have been originally. With modern recording technology, the first ENTRAILS demo could finally take shape. After releasing another demo in 2009 ENTRAILS recorded and released their debut album Tales From The Morgue in 2010.

Just a year later The Tomb Awaits was released, an album that gained worldwide attention of music fans of the extreme and was considered by many as the best death metal album of 2011!

Right now ENTRAILS are in the final stages of songwriting for their third studio album to be recorded during the summer! "Our upcoming third opus is filled with old-school and rotten bastards of songs. Groovy and heavy like a pile of flesh that will be like a punch in your face. To us it´s the perfect step from The Tomb Awaits album…beware!"
