We had hoped to make it to 100 episodes. so what better topic to power through this one with than "Top 100 Songs For Not Making It To 100 episodes"? We even made an effort to not get long winded on all our picks so you'll be amazed at how quickly and efficiently we got through everything.
Plus - major bonus! Dave Holch from Mechina joined us! For the whole episode! Totally justifying us as a legitimate metal podcast. Huzzah!</itunes:summary>

We also chatted about the amazingness of the Colorado Springs local metal scene over the last two weeks. If you missed those shows... for shame!

But srsly if you've listened before you know how we like to stay current and topical with our...topics... So yeah it should be no surprise that we decided to do Top 5 songs for being a hummingbird rising weasel in a diaper on the way to buy a white and gold dress that everyone says is blue and black.
Plus we talked about the recent shows with Suicide Silence, Within The Ruins, Fit For An Autopsy, and Crown Magnetar at The Black Sheep, and Fallujah, Lorna Shore, Vale of Pnath, and Skyburial at The Marquis.
And Legz treated us to a pretty sweet rendition of the '89 Batman theme by Danny Elfman.

<itunes:summary>We're back after a long break and firing on all cylinders! All 3 of them! Plus we welcome back Alloy Matt as we have a melancholic discussion about awkward "break-ups" we've had with bands. You know - those songs you heard for the first time and thought, "Wow, I used to love this band... what the hell happened?!?!?!?" - check out Matt's list on You Tube here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWEuwyUWHhUWcoE7RPpJVGFEA6KGGgMS4.
We also got some thoughts from Jared on the recent tour packages of Periphery, Nothing More, Wovenwar, and Thank You Scientist tour, as well as Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Aeon, and Tribulation.
And Daigle had no qualms about self-serving by playing two new tracks from the upcoming Try Redemption album "Hollow Be Thy Name" - we spun "Deception Scheme" and "We Are Legion", the latter of which features one of the new dynamics of the band: clean vocals! By the way the irony of playing a clean vocal Try Redemption song on this particular episode was not lost on us. Hue hue hue...
And if you haven't seen the Greatest Hit of Disturbed video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66gSvNeqevg) you're missing out.

Fall time is everyone's favorite and what better way to usher in the great camel toe season than with a soundtrack for having pumpkin spice latte enema after bathing in melted pumpkin spice M and Ms and douching with pumpkin spice body lotion.
Standard off topic tangents this time around include a development in Jared's 5. Was a shocker to be sure.
By the way, we nailed the perfect female ghostbuster lineup: Kristin Wiig as Venkman, Melissa McCarthy as Ray, Geena Davis as Egon, Aisha Tyler as Winston.
We also heard about the awe-inspiring experience seeing Neurosis live was for Jared.

Top 5 song titles that could double as something you would buy in the housewares section of Bed Bath and Beyond. Apparently it's up for debate if the whole entire Bed Bath and Beyond store is housewares - but we operate under the premise that the more words in the topic, the better.
This was inspired by the http://ikeaordeath.com/ quiz - which Jared took live during the show. Is anyone surprised he scored 20 out of 20, he's truly true kvlt. We're so proud.
We also heard about the weirdest tour line up ever: Chimaira, The Plot In You, Upon This Dawning, Allegaeon, Silence The Messenger. Look for interviews in the coming week or so.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>This year Summer Slaughter was a return to form, and while the turnout may not have been as big, the enjoyment factor was through the roof. We say keep that ball rolling! In fact, because we're so generous, for the third year in a row we are offering up a primo lineup for the Summer Slaughter tour.
We did talk in detail about this year's tour. It was exceptionally face-melting with Boreworm, Fallujah, Within The Ruins, Decrepit Birth, Origin, The Faceless, Goatwhore, Thy Art Is Murder, Dying Fetus, and Morbid Angel. HO. LEE. SHIT.
Also, Daigle worked an equally exceptionally convoluted tie in for the show intro. Sort of fell on deaf ears... He'll get 'em next time.
We spun two tunes from Dictated as well: "No Mercy For Cowards" and "The Basher"</itunes:summary>

Anyway, not that there is anything wrong with the Breaking Bad intro - it's pretty much perfect, in fact - but any excuse to spend more time with the mind-blowing series is always worth it! So if the theme song was going to be replaced - here's 15 songs that would do the job just fine. <itunes:summary>Let's face it. This topic was inevitable. At some point, everyone hears a song and thinks, "Hey, that would make a killer metal cover!" We are no exception. And so we submit to you, our immense and faithful listener base, 20 songs that are screaming to be covered by metal bands. Plus we go the extra mile and throw in our picks for the bands that should do said covers. Hell. Yes.
Other points of interest include Daigle's recap of Metallica's appearance on The Colbert Report, and Jared's run-throughs of the Kelly Clarkson and Psyclon Nine Denver tour stops. Just to clarify - those were two separate shows. Kelly isn't set to release/tour on her industrial material until 2019 at the earliest. Sad face.

Daigle took a moment to eat crow on his assumption of how "An Infinite Regression" is played, credit to Leggz for mentioning the utterly mind boggling tutorial on YouTube. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. BALLS.
We also hear from Jared on the The Acacia Strain, Within The Ruins, Fit For An Autopsy, and American Me show and interview with FFAA. Sounds like it was an epic night.
And we spin “Thank You Budd Dwyer” by Fit For An Autopsy, “Feeding Frenzy” by Within The Ruins, and "Go Green" by Fistlord (which features none other than MetalsPeak's own Stu)
Oh yeah, we also explain how to play Missile Command on YouTube. So you'll want to at least listen for that, just in case you think you don't need a playlist for passing a stone... which you do.</itunes:summary>

<title>MetalsPeak 63 - Slaughter sPeak II</title>

<itunes:author>MetalsPeak.com</itunes:author>

<itunes:subtitle>Slaughter sPeak II</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:summary>Nothing recharges your metal batteries quite like a brilliant live performance - and when you're lucky enough to see several over the course of a weekend, you feel like you could snort your own loogies.

Such was the case this past weekend, sans loogies - let's face it, nobody can touch Travis Ryan on that. Between Vapor Fest at The Black Sheep and Summer Slaughter at The Ogden, it was one of the best weekends for metal in recent memory.

We heard from Jared on Vapor Fest bands Tree Of Woe, Kill Syndicate, Betrayal, Reflections, Within The Ruins (including interview with vocalist Tim Goergen), Oceano, and All Shall Perish who never disappoints.

Then we discussed the amazingness that was Summer Slaughter including local favorites Vital Malice, Thy Art is Murder, Rings of Saturn, Aeon (and interview with vocalist Tommy Dahlström), Revocation (and interview with guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson), The Ocean (and interview with guitarist Robin Stapps), Cattle Decapitation (and interview with guitarist Josh Elmore), Norma Jean, Periphery, Animals As Leaders, and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

And then we treat you to our picks for who should be on the 2014 Summer Slaughter tour.

By the way, you owe it to yourself to check out Jared's prior interview with Robin Stapps in preparation for this new one.

And, just a teaser for now - Daigle completely underestimated what's actually happening in "An Infinite Regression" by Animals As Leaders. After the show, You Tube set him straight. He'll cover this on the next episode but for now we'll just say, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS"</itunes:summary>

While we haven't yet put these into practice, we feel we've laid out solid lists of songs for indoctrinating your kids into metaldom. Stay tuned to future episodes to find out if our kids agree!

It's important to note that Stu does not have kids. But thanks to a clip from "The Brothers Solomon" we found some great tips for him to find an eager youngster to share his wealth of metal knowledge with. Hopefully he won't have to deal with any pain in the ass moms...

We also hit some highlights on new releases over the next couple weeks. And feature “Eno” by Acillatem and “Utopia” by Dreadnought.</itunes:summary>

Next couple weeks are gonna be a bit slow for new releases, but we spin two tracks from the 8/6 releases from Exhumed and Revocation. These tracks, "Coins Upon The Eyes" and "The Hive", will rip your face off your face.

June 11th is going to be a big release day - be prepared to go broke. And mark your calendars for Gutfest 5 6/28 and 6/29 at Sunshine Studios.

- Havok CD release at The Black Sheep June 22nd

Tunes this go around are "Lift" by Dreadnought and "Overcome" by Hacride.
