Here is a woman who has been successful in replacing traditional, toxic cleaning products in several hospitals with environmentally friendly substances made with nontoxic, naturally derived ingredients. Deirdre Imus has earned national acclaim for her leadership in linking the environment to health issues and is committed to reducing the public's exposure, especially children, to carcinogens, neurotoxins and other harmful chemical substances.

Senator Barbara Boxer understands that the public health of Californians is in jeopardy and we need state protection against toxic chemicals. Did you know that 63% of Californian voters endorsed Proposition 65? Could that be because we don't want a food company to intentionally expose us to known carcinogens or reproductive toxins? Call us picky eaters, but we want to know what is in the food we eat.

Methyl bromide which has been used in strawberry fields for years has been banned because it harms the Earth's ozone layer. However, farmers still use this dangerous chemical because they have yet to find a fumigant replacement. The problem with the proposed substitute pesticide, methyl iodide, is that it is also a toxic and dangerous chemical. The EPA has decided to hold off for another year before approving one dangerous chemical for another. Hey, it's a start in the right direction.
